I OWN NOTHING IN THIS FANFICTION EXCEPT FOR MY OC. I DON'T OWN MUCH OF ANYTHING WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT...
{/} 3rd PERSON POV {\}
_The Hidden Leaf Village, Training Ground 10*
It was sunny and cloudless, like any other summer morning. The perfect circumstances for honing one's skills as a 3-man squad and as shinobi. Finetuning the teamwork and overall battle prowess of each other.
'Using iron to sharpen iron'. The thoughts of Ritaka Uchiha, the Jounin teacher of Team 13as he looked at his team of Genin with an amused smile from his perch. Observing the trio going at each other with lethal force.
Among these prepubescent Nin were two males, being a Yamanaka and an Uchiha, while the only female was an Inuzuka. Who seemed to be winning a 2v1 using only a kunai against her tanto wielding teammates.
The reverberations of combat echoed throughout the training ground and filled the air with a growing intensity. The wild haired girl would be abusing the fact that she was the most agile of the group, making each audible sign of combat either her doing an elegant parry or a skilled block/redirect.
And the silence that would ring out occasionally, marked a dodge if an attack proved too difficult to intervene with her blade. And all with a coy smile across her lips.
The offensive duo wasn't too far behind however. While miss Inuzuka was dancing almost around them, sir Yamanaka was precisely swiping and slashing with his tanto. Flipping around his sword's grip between front and backwards to maximize his lethality, judging according to the angle of the openings he spotted in her defenses.
As for the boy Uchiha, he wasn't moving in any special way. Instead of abusing his extraordinary agility or precision upon any opening spotted like his peers, he stuck to the textbook examples of how to use kenjutsu. Down to the latter, every possible strike would've been exactly as the books said. Frame for frame
Their attacks' intensities kept steadily increasing over the minutes, until a quarter of an hour had passed, that's where the spar began to slow to a creep. The once loud and boisterous clangs and shings of steel slamming into and grinding against one another, would turn more docile thanks to a lack of the fire that let it ring throughout the entirety of the massive log-littered clearing.
The Inuzuka girl, whose name was Yaiba, was breathing heavily and bracing herself with her hands on her knees. Weapon still vice-gripped in her hand and a happy smile on her face. Besides her panting, these were her only real signs of fatigue.
"Whew!" She sighed at her teammates, throwing a pointed finger at the raven-haired male who was then leaning on a tree trunk before her.
"Next time it's your turn, Chisuke!" Was all she said before the weariness of her intense sparring came in all the way and she took a seat on the floor.
"As if that'd make a difference Yaiba..." drawled Kabin, the only light-haired team member, laying on his back in lethargy and his eyes closed. Panting as frantically as Yaiba.
"It will," Chisuke replied simply, pushing himself off of his loggy rest to crouch next to Kabin with a smile, "Have you forgotten who graduated second in class?" He asked with a brow cocked.
Kabin turned his head to the side and let out a dismissive 'Pfft!' at the least tired-looking of the three before giving his actual grumbled response, "Don't remind me."
Having waited enough, a new voice interjected itself to the conversation. The team leader himself, who decided to appear to the right of them all. Deep and mostly monotone with a hint of pride. All three perked up the second they heard the familiar voice, turning to its direction.
"That was impressive! All of you," he spake before dropping from his perch in front of them.
He was an average 5'9", wearing a light blue jacket over his Konoha flak, Uchiha crest in plain view on his back. His onyx eyes seemed to absorb any light that dared to get too close and a light pink scar glided from one side of his cheek to a centimeter shy of his chin. Short, spiky black hair drooped into bangs that fell a clear distance from his gleaming
Immediately, his team picked themselves up and formed a side-by-side line, putting aside the obvious tiredness in them and hiding it behind their postures.
"Ritaka-sensei!" They called in unison, making the Jounin before them crack a toothless smile of approval at their acting skills. Especially for Genin.
"I see your warm ups are all done?" The man folds his arms with a chipper tone, earning a soft groan from two of his Genin. And an eye roll from all three.
"Good, you have another C-rank in 6 minutes, prepare yourselves and meet back here in five." He commanded with a stifled chuckle they barely didn't see.
Hearing their team leader's instructions, Yaiba, Chisuke and Kabin headed off without a word spoken from their side. Giving a nod before disappearing into a bunch of leaves.
Each member would have arrived at their homes, gathered their essentials and returned within 4 minutes.
To leaves they left and from leaves shall return. Silently appearing in front of the teacher who sent them off. Who decided to begin meditating before their return. With Yaiba on the left, Kabin on the right and Chisuke in the middle, each with a blank and emotionless expression and completely new outfits.
Yaiba was wearing a long purple kimono with floral accents encasing the hems and seams, with the standard shinobi sandals on her feet. Her shoulder length bangs were combed (for once) and set to loosely hang around her ears, showing and highlighting the vertical markings of her clan.
Thanks to the mix of flexibility and skin coverage, a 39cm wakizashi and a small kunai pouch were invisibly tucked away on her inner thighs, waiting to spring on any unsuspecting victims.
Kabin sported the usual shinobi shirt, pants and sandals. With his arsenal of a katana and other tools, in a more easily available and visible area of across his back and on his outer leg. His mid-spine long hair was tucked back in a pony tail and safely out of his internally smiling face.
And Chisuke had a trench coat thrown over himself. Deep blue in color, the sleeves up to his wrists with his clan's crest resting on its back. This thick piece of heavily sown cloth hid more than just the gray t-shirt he wore underneath. It also concealed the blade –as well as the rest of his tools- he had strapped to his hip.
"Ritaka-sensei." They calmly spoke again in unison, catching the attention of their Jounin.
"You have an escort mission; a noble's daughter needs to be protected on her way back home," said the man without opening his eyes.
"What do you mean 'we' have a mission? Aren't you coming with us?" Inquired a curious Kabin.
"Unfortunately, no," Ritaka replied flatly, "I have a mission of my own to deal with, but the Third trusts your skills; plus the severeness of the situation at hand leaves very little alternative options. You three are currently the best the Hokage can offer as those at the higher ranks already being on missions of their own."
He would then wait for the trio to react, expecting them to blow up with questions he could not answer -wincing internally in preparation. Luckily a triple deadpan was all he was given before he decided on talking again.
"Head to the Northern Gates, your client's waiting in a red dress. Trust me when I tell you you'll know her when you see her," something about the way he said that felt off... yet ignorable, "Now set off, I can't wait to hear the results of your successful mission when your three report it." the man smirked.
These were the last words the team needed to hear before they withdrew themselves from their training grounds. Shunshinning from their sensei to the Nothern Gates as they were instructed to.
_Konohagakure's Northern Gates*
Lying flat on his back, an adult Chisuke Uchiha stared up at the cloudy night's sky, arm extended up at the waxing gibbous before his then grimacing face.
"I have and always will hate that mission..." he spat with a twisted expression to his deep voice, waving away the events that passed on that dreaded day.
Seeing their target so imbedded and delved into the past, a cloaked figure hidden in the shallow moonlight decided to make her presence known. Jumping the ever-living shit out of the distracted Uchiha when she spoke up from behind him.
"So, Chi-kun, you really have decided to return to the land of the living?" the female voice chimed as her voice ran a brief shock through the lad's spine (a fact he tried his hardest to hide)
With zero hesitation Chisuke rolled off of his back into a handspring as he let his instincts take over, he jumped up from his spot. Flying over the source of the sudden sound behind him and landing right up against her back with blinding speeds and his short sword already millimeters from her neck before the hooded silhouette can even react.
"I didn't know I had a fanbase~" the boy muttered softly into the shadow's ear with a cocky grin.
Most in this situation would have been sweating bullets, but not this cloaked woman. Her demeaner was lacking im fear and nervousness of any kind. In fact, her next words dripped with arguably more confidence than Chisuke.
"Oh, trust me you have no idea," she verbally winked, "Although I'm not amongst their ranks..." she finished while pushing down the hardened steel from her neck.
"Oh really?" the lad retorted allowing his weapon to be disarmed, "And how are you going to prove that, Yaiba Inuzuka?"
The girl ended up taking a shallow gasp at his words as a light frown formed across her lips. Before they curled upwards ever so slightly.
"I already have, Chi-kun~
"Suddenly, the clothed figure poofs out of existence. Leaving behind nothing but a bloom of purple flowers and an amused looking Uchiha, who decided on standing in place and putting away his weapon.
Seconds before his body fell limp and he found himself falling on his back - with the world fading to back thanks to his eyes involuntarily closing themselves.
At first he prepared himself for a hard and cold impact with the floor. But he instead felt a warm and comforting embrace. And a wierd tingly feeling on the back of his neck.
"You know, I should've put money on you trying to trick me with a genjutsu, Yaiba!" he cracked up waking up with his head resting on his comrade's lap.
"Dont give me that," she half chuckled with a finger lightly scratching the back of the Uchiha's ear.
"You know the only thing saving you is your damn dojutsu!" she fired with a fierce gaze.
"But I don't have them active though!" Chisuke shot back nonchalantly. Shooting back a gaze of fake confusion.
"And?" the woman would ask folding her arms, as if the answer wasn't obvious enough as is.
"My sharingan can't save me if I'm not using them to save me."
Even with her question answered, Yaiba refused to accept how easily he could've broken from the illusion she'd made.
Deciding to shoot toyful insults and back handed compliments at him. Both of which Chisuke didn't hesitate to throw back.
The duo would then continue back and forth. Both refusing to back down no matter what. Arguing and switching subjects left and right for what felt like hours.
Somehow they were smiling the whole way through. Even if it was useless arguing and banter, there was a warm feeling Chisuke couldn't explain that boubled from deep within. A feeling that said 'Everything will be okay ' once he was near her.
Even if his blood pressure would most likely need to get checked after damn near every interaction they have.
Eventually they managed to stop. With Yaiba scoffing "Hmph, well at least you're still in one piece..." with a hint of passive aggressiveness still etched on her voice.
"Of course I am, I made a promise. And I plan to always keep my promises" Chisuke spoke with nothing but seriousness
"Good to hear, NOW I have to see you later, there's some business I have to attend." making those her final words to him, Yaiba lifts him up off her before launching off with the shunshin technique. Clearing herself out from the wall they were standing on.
Leaving Chisuke to continue combing through his past in silence. As he layed on his back once again. This time with a smile printed across his features.
