Again, I don't own Harry Potter
Turns out, Gringotts is a bank that is on one end or Diagon Alley, the alley where most witches and wizards shop. It is run by goblins and has ginormous white doors with a rather ominous inscription.
There were two goblin guards at the door. I nodded to them and they nodded back after a moment of surprise.
We went inside and I was stunned by the amazing designs on the floor and ceiling. It was gold and white.
We made our way up to the front desk where a goblin was reading through a paper.
Alcentrix cleared her throat, trying to grab his attention. He didn't look up. "Excuse me." She said, "We'd like to access Miss Potter's vault."
I frowned, couldn't she see he was busy.
He sighed and looked up at her. "Does Miss Potter have her key?"
I looked at Professor Alcentrix. She pulled out a small gold key and gave it to him.
"Hmm." He nodded. He called out to another goblin in a different language and the other goblin came over. "Fanghold will take you to your vault."
We followed the other goblin, Fanghold, to a cart. We got in and the tracks led downwards. With a jolt, the cart started rolling. It sped up and soon we were zooming through the tunnels. Alcentrix had her eyes closed, but I kept mine open, enjoying the feeling of freedom that came from going so fast. Too soon, we stopped.
"Vault 686." Fanghold called. "Key please."
Alcentrix handed him the small key. He slid it in the lock and opened up. Inside, there were piles of coins. Gold, silver, and bronze.
Alcentrix took a step into the vault but Fanghold held out an arm to stop her.
"Only the owner of the vault and their goblin escort, with their permission, may enter." He said. He handed me the small key.
Alcentrix rolled her eyes but nodded. "I can hold onto her key for her so she doesn't lose it."
"It's alright Professor Alcentrix, I can keep it." I assured her. "I'm really good at keeping track of stuff." I took a step into my vault.
"Fine. Rose, I'll be up in the lobby when you finish here." She said.
I nodded. She turned back and disappeared.
"Umm. Mr. Fanghold, could you please help me? I don't know what these are." I told him.
"Of course, Miss Potter. May I have permission to enter or would you like me to stay out here?" He asked.
"I give you permission to enter." I said.
He took a few steps into the vault and stood next to me. He pulled out a small leather pouch. "Here. This should hold as much money as you need. It can only be opened by you and no one can take it from you." He said. I took it gratefully, muttering a thanks.
"Now, the gold ones are Galleons. They are the highest value. The silver ones are the second highest value. They are called Sickles. There are 17 sickles to a galleon. The last ones are the Knuts. They are the bronze ones. There are 29 knuts to a sickle." He explained.
I grabbed a lot of the bronze ones, which were the largest pile. Then I grabbed some of the Sickles and some Galleons. They all easily fit into the bag, which didn't seem to get heavier at all. "Do you have a strip of leather that I could use to tie my key to?" I asked.
Fanghold nodded and handed me a long strand of leather.
"Thank you." I said, tying the key around my neck.
"Make sure no one gets your key, that's important." He said.
We made our way up to the lobby and I said goodbye to Fanghold.
"Goodbye, Heir Potter." He said, before going and turning down a different hallway.
I was confused but went to where I saw Alcentrix waiting. She didn't say anything as she led me to a shop that had trunks in the window.
As soon as we stepped in, a man appeared. He immediately started asking about what trunk I wanted.
I opened my mouth to answer but Alcentrix answered instead. "She just needs a first year trunk."
"Are you sure? We have a sale on expanded trunks today. There are some with multiple rooms including greenhouses, a library, and potion rooms." He offered. "They come with special locks, featherweight charms, and shrinking charms." He rushed out, as if we'd interrupt him the moment he paused.
"Could I see those options?" I asked hesitantly. Alcentrix sighed but she smiled afterwards. She ruffled my hair. "I guess you do need the best for all your stuff."
I beamed and the man smiled as he led me over to his trunk selections. I ended up choosing the cheapest of the options, though still with advantages. It had a bedroom, library, potions room, bathroom, greenhouse, and storage room. It could also shrink on command and didn't weigh a lot. There was a special lock in it so only I could open it.
Next we went to get robes. We went to this store called Madame Malkin's. When I was getting measured, Madame Malkin kept sending worried looks my way.
Once we got my robes, Madame Malkin gave me directions towards the wizarding hospital and suggested I get a checkup before going to school.
The Leaky Cauldron also served food, so we ate dinner there.
"I need to get back to the school. You should be able to finish up your shopping tomorrow." Alcentrix said.
"Yes, Professor." I said, pushing my food to the side, unconsciously dividing it in half. After it was divided, I ate the smaller portion.
"Good. Here's your ticket for the train. It leaves 11o'clock on September 1st. Don't be late." Alcentrix threw down a few silver coins. She turned and left me sitting there.
I finished my food and after a pause, finished the other half of the plate. When I was done, I took my plate and Alcentrix's up to Tom at the counter.
"Excuse me, Mr. Tom? Is there any chance you could give me directions to the wizarding hospital?" I asked timidly.
"Of course." He said kindly, taking the plates from me and handing them to another worker. He walked around the counter and gestured for me to follow him. He led me to the fireplace.
"Have you ever used the floo?" He asked.
"No, sir."
"Alright. So what you do is you take a handful of this powder. You'll step into the fire and throw it in. Then, you'll announce where you want to go. The hospital is called Saint Mungo's, so you'll say Saint Mungo's hospital. Got that?" He explained.
I nodded, taking a handful of the powder he was holding out for me. It was slightly shimmery but looked like ash. I stepped into the fire and threw down the powder. The flames turned green. "Saint Mungo's hospital." I said as clearly as I could.
There was a whoosh as the fire rose around me and surrounded me, turning blue. There was a drop in my stomach, as if I had dropped from a height. When the flames died, I found myself looking out of a different fireplace than before.
I stepped out and followed some of the other people who were coming out of the other fireplaces next to mine.
I found myself led into a lobby, and I made my way to the front desk.
"Do you have an appointment?" The woman asked.
"Umm. No, ma'am. I was just wondering if I could get a checkup." I said.
"We'll see if we can book you. What's your name?"
"Rose Potter."
She paused her typing, turning to look at me. "Miss Potter! I'll see if anyone is open. Please go ahead and sit down. Let me know if you need anything." She said, much kinder now.
I nodded and made my way over to the sitting area. It was ten minutes later that I was approached by a woman.
"Are you Miss Potter?" She asked. I nodded. "Nice to meet you, Miss Potter. I'm Healer Andromeda Tonks. I heard you'd like a check up?"
"Yes ma'am. If you aren't too busy." I said.
"Of course. Come right this way." She said. I got up and followed her as she led me up a few floors in the elevator then down a hallway. We stopped at a door and Healer Tonks opened it.
"Go ahead and sit on the table. I'll be back in a moment." She instructed.
I walked in and sat on the table, looking around. I saw a few pictures of Healer Tonks, a man, and a young girl.
It was a few minutes later that Healer Tonks returned. "Alright Miss Potter. Was there a reason you wanted a check up or just a general check up?"
"General. Someone suggested that I get a check up before going to school in September." I said.
"Okay. Have you ever been to a hospital before or had a check up before?"
"I was in a hospital when I was 8 and had a check up when I was 6. But both were… muggle." I told her.
"This is a bit different from a muggle hospital." She told me. "I'm going to have to prick your finger. It may hurt a bit, but I'll heal it right after." She said.
I nodded and held out a hand for her. She took my pointer finger and poked it with a little pin. Despite what she said, it didn't hurt. She squeezed my finger and some blood dropped into a vial of something clear. She took out a wand, my first time seeing one close up other than my parents, and healed my finger. It tingled for a moment before it is completely healed, without even a mark.
She put a stopper on the vial and shook it for a few seconds. Then it turned purple and she stopped. Healer Tonks took out a piece of paper and I watched, fascinated. She poured out five drops of the purple thing, which I'm guessing is a potion.
Writing slowly appeared on the paper in the same color purple as the potion.
Healer Tonks read through it and a crease appeared between her brows. I waited patiently, swinging my feet a bit.
Finally, she finished reading and put the piece of paper down, sighing sadly. "It seems like you are undernourished and lacking some vitamins and slightly dehydrated."
I nodded along. I knew what they were and it made sense. I hadn't exactly been well fed at the Dursley's.
"Alright, I have some potions I need you to take." She pulled out a small box and opened it to show me 7 vials of a blue potion. "Take one each day during breakfast. They will automatically refill until you can stop taking them. They should help give you vitamins you need and help you build up your muscles naturally. But you need to make sure to eat good meals."
"Thank you." I said, taking the box as she handed it to me.
"If you have any reaction to the potions, or need anything else, you can always ask for me. Just tell them your name and they will bring you to me." She told me, giving me a smile and handing me a lollipop.
I blinked at the lollipop uncertainly before taking it. I'd seen Dudley eat some of these. He seemed to enjoy them, so they must be okay.
Healer Tonks led me back to the lobby and bid me goodbye with a kind smile. I smiled back and went through the floo to the Leaky Cauldron.
