This work is supposed to, in a way, read and feel like an actual Kingdom Hearts game, so there will be dialogue and pop ups at times to explain mechanics, in such cases, they will read like this.
New Training.
Kairi walked through the halls of the Land of Departure, after some time, she reached a big room which contained 3 thrones, and she waited.
Since the last year, Master Aqua, alongside the former lost wielders and her friends, Terra and Ventus, had been exploring the depths of the Realm of Darkness, searching for any potential clue for Sora if he ended in that realm after his disappearance.
"Sora…" Kairi whispered to herself. "I will become stronger and help more in your search, it's a promise."
The last time she talked with Riku in The Final World before he left to the mysterious fiction that is Quadratum appeared back in her mind, being left in a side once again due to Riku being worried about her, and Kairi herself was worried. She knew that despite the entire year of training, everyone else besides maybe Lea was so much skilled it wasn't fair, they had actual experience, and while she managed to hold her own by doing things like taking Xemnas by surprise, and helping Sora to take down Master Xehanort on his powerful armor… it was still not much compared to the other Wielders, especially Sora.
Sora was the strongest Guardian, even though he wasn't a formal Keyblade Master, Kairi knew that his power and abilities eclipsed everyone else's, especially her's, so despite being a Princess of Light, Sora's light still felt so much brighter and warmer.
So now, she came to see Aqua, and see if she might take her as student and teach her better the ways of the Keyblade so she can help to find Sora, might not be enough to get close to Sora and Riku's mastery, but it should help so others won't look down on her or not allowing her to do dangerous stuff, she hasn't even actually visited many different worlds to learn, with taking Merlin's offering of a training place where an entire year is just a few months outside, then being part of the Keyblade war, being killed… and for finally, have a year long sleep, she lacked a lot of actual field experience.
Finally, after a few hours of waiting, while she was just swinging her Keyblade, Destiny's Embrace, and practicing a few spells, a big portal appeared in the room, and from it appeared 3 persons in armor, which then disappeared, revealing the trio of Aqua, Terra and Ventus.
"Master Aqua, Terra, Ventus!" Kairi said cheerfully, happy to see them back just fine.
"Hey, we all know I'm not a master only in name, you can address me like that too so Aqua isn't alone." Terra jokingly said.
"C'mon Terra, if we did our Mark of Mastery at the same time, I'd finish it a hour before you, too slow!" Ven answered.
"Just ignore those two for now, this trip to the Realm of Darkness was especially rough with the Heartless around, and they need to relax." Aqua said with a smile.
"It's good to see you, Kairi. What brings you here? Does Master Yen Sid require us?" Asked Terra.
"Terra, he is not a Master anymore." The master reminded her friend.
"Oh, true."
"Actually, I came here on my own, I… wanted to request something." Answered nervously the princess.
"What is it? Also, how is Riku doing? We have not talked in what feels forever" Terra wondered.
"Actually….."
Kairi proceeds to explain what happened to her in the realm of sleep, her meeting with Xehanort, and the details about Quadratum, a fictional world, and Riku's departure.
"…." Terra just stayed silent.
"Terra?" Ven asked worried.
"Terra…" Now said Aqua.
"I can't be really mad, he is just trying to protect what matters… but yet, he just left to a reality we know nothing about, and never actually told others himself?"
"I'm sorry about that, Terra. King Mickey was not pleased either, he would actually have gone himself too if he wasn't stopped."
Terra just shakes his head, worried about his successor, and looks back to Kairi.
"But that is not why you really came here, right?" He suddenly asked.
"That's correct… Master Aqua, I, would like to request your help as a teacher, so I can grow stronger… help Sora…" Revealed the princess.
"Huh?" Aqua just asked.
"I'm too weak… Riku went alone to find Sora, I couldn't join because I need more training and to be stronger if I want to be in an unknown reality, I need a true master to teach me the ways of the Keyblade." Explained Kairi.
"That's not true! You are not weak, Kairi. You told us, you actually fought Master Xehanort both alongside Sora and in your dreams." Ventus quickly said.
"Sora did most of the work when we fought Xehanort, he is so much stronger, it's obvious, and in my dreams… I couldn't even beat a memory, Sora saved me again, even from another dimension." Kairi countered in a sad tone.
"Kairi, don't dismiss yourself like this. The light inside you makes Sora far stronger, his friends are his power as he said, and you are one of his best friends." Aqua said in a serious tone.
"And that memory of Xehanort should not really be that much weaker, your experiences with Master Xehanort would make you remember him as a powerful threat… yet he actually gave you praise for your skill." Continued Terra.
"Kairi, I was inside of Sora's heart for years, and from there, I could feel how much he cares about you, and how connected you two are. You are a big part of him." Finished Ven.
"… Thank you all so much. But still, I want to grow stronger, wouldn't it be like you say, Terra? I need it to protect what matters." Said the girl.
Terra smiled at Kairi, and nodded.
"Well then… why make Aqua do all the work? She will need breaks, so even if I'm not a true Master, I can help with your training too then."
"Hey, don't leave me behind! I can fight nearly as good as you two!" Shouted Ven.
"Three masters for one student… that would surely be interesting, we had one master for the three of us." Aqua said with a small laugh.
"The three of you… would help me grow stronger?" She asks in shock.
The trio nodded.
"Sora did so much for all of us… and now that we know he isn't anywhere in the Realm of Darkness, the least we can do is make the light that can guide his path grow stronger." Answered the blue haired wielder.
"Thanks… now I believe that I will be able to show I can do things… Sora, when we find you, you will be surprised at the new Kairi…" The girl said with a smile, looking up.
