Hello, and welcome for one more of my fics. This one will be a lot different from the other one, but as the other one is also a translation from the fic I wroter in my original language. And this has absolutely nothing to do with the other one, it's a different story. Some of you may be familiarized with the fic "Life in Pirate King Luffy's Era", and while this one was obviously inspired, I am doing something completely different, so please, give it a try. Also, as I want to do something different, this fic is not simply pos-canon, it's basically an AU, even with a different Devil Fruit Luffy. Why? Because I want to, also this give me freedom to do whatever I want, so besides the normal ships with Luffy, we will have other ones not so common. This fic will also be non-linear, for example, the second chapter will be some years after this one, and the third will be some years after the second, while the fourth can be some years before this one, so I can do anything I want. I also won't stick just to isolated stories, I have two arcs in mind, but they will take some time till we get there, but for now, hope you enjoy.
If you enjoy, please, favorite, follow and review, and thanks for reading.
The noise of the rain echoed throughout the place. It wasn't a storm, but it was still a heavy rain, stribg enough to keep the little one from going out to train as he would like. He didn't even mind trying to train inside, but he didn't have any room with space, maybe apart from the throne room, but his mother would never allow him to train there. Tired of staring up at the gray sky, the child turns and runs through the vast corridors. He had messy blue hair hanging down to his forehead, his skin was a little tanned, both due to his father and the amount of time he spent outside in the sun. He had a standard height for a seven-year-old, dark eyes that could be frightening when angry (his mom liked to tell him she got that from his dad, and he didn't doubt it at all). His outfit was a simple red shirt, shabby from both he wore it and practiced and played, a pair of jean shorts, also shabby, because of course it was, and a small straw hat, made especially to fit his head.
His mother, his grandfather and the people he considers his uncles would complain about the lack of a slipper, or tell him not to wear the hat so openly, which he'd just stick his tongue out and run away after. The fact that he knew his father would either laugh at his attitudes or support him (even if his mother said otherwise) only made him even more motivated. And proving that he was indeed his son, and that all the training was worth it, the guards were always having a hard time trying to catch him.
"Kamon!"
His mother's scream made him instinctively stop, cold sweat starting to trickle down his body, and it sure wasn't from the little run or the weather. But how could he be blamed? His mother was one of the people his father had zero chance against, so how could he expect to have? Swallowing hard he tried to hide his presence as best as possible while trying to hide behind a vase. His uncles on his father's side had even praised how well he had done it the last time they saw him,so surely that would work now, right?
"There is no use in doing this, I know you're there."
But somehow, she always found him. To the little one it didn't make sense, even the guards wouldn't be able to find him. How she did it was one of the great mysteries he just didn't know how to solve. Then his mother appeared in his field of vision. She had long, slightly wavy blue hair that went down to below her waist, at the moment she wore a white dress, with some yellow details around her waist, at the ends of the sleeves and neck, and on her feet she also wore brown shoes, which unlike her son's clothes, were in excellent condition. A detail that caught the attention of many was the golden ring with a diamond on her right ring finger. Kamon still didn't understand much about the subject, but he knew his mother was beautiful, the fact that his father said it out loud several times also helped him to think so.
"Huh Mom..."
He was clearly trying to think of some excuse for her, who just raised an eyebrow in question, waiting for the boy to complete his sentence. Seeing the expression on her face, he sweated even colder.
"Queen Vivi, I'm sorry, it was my fault. I didn't even notice when he left class."
Coming from the right hallway, an older man appeared. He was tall, had white hair whose ends ended in large curls, similar to a judge. He wore a long gray tunic that covered his entire body, and gray shoes. His face bore some age lines, and his body looked a little hunched forward.
"No Igaram, he shouldn't run away. Well, no meat for your dinner, young man. And why are you using your father's gift?"
The boy instantly placed a hand on his head, on top of his straw hat.
"I like. And nobody here cares!"
'And it's not fair that I am one of the fews that has almost nothing on dad.' He thought to himself.
He spoke defensively. In response, Vivi sighed, and sw bent down, putting her face level with his.
"You know that if someone outside the palace sees it can bring problems, and your father certainly wouldn't want that."
She said gently, placing her hand on top of his head, holding one of his hands in a loving way. The expression on the boy's face seemed to darken a little as he slightly lowered his head.
"That's silly."
Once again he heard his mother sigh.
"I know it is, but it to would be bad to see someone associated with the New World Government, using something that may refer to your father's image, since the navy still hates him. Your uncle Sabo had a really hard time adapting to it too. You can wear the hat, but try not to wear it in the hallways, let alone while looking out the window. Alright?"
The boy puffed out both of his cheeks in a small tantrum. He really hated the fact that he couldn't freely wear the hat, even if it wasn't the same as his father. But considering that even he had already talked to him about it the last time he came, specifically asking him to be discreet with the gift.
He still remembered exactly how his father had carried him on his shoulders, making him look closer to the stars that night. In the background they could hear the noise of the crickets and his crew partying, or arguing, Kamon could never tell the difference. It was a pretty cool moment, too bad they had to stop when their mother saw them, and yelled at his father for them to get off the roof of the palace. He heard her screaming at him a lot later, even when they had both gone into the room to sleep, he still didn't understand why she kept screaming tho. Or why, the next day, the uncle doctor asked if they were trying to have another child.
"OK."
Said, clearly grudgingly. But Vivi, as much as she wouldn't admit it to not give him even more reason to be like this, was proud that her son adored his father so much. Kamon gave his hat to his mother, which she would later put back in the boy's room.
"Prince Kamon, your father would be very happy for you to appreciate so much something that refers to his image. Now, if we can get back to your class... I know he would appreciate it even more if you tried hard to be a great prince."
Igaram spoke, also proud of the boy, after all, his father was, even if secretly, the hero of the nation and even the king of the kingdom, even if he himself had never even seemed to consider it. He liked being another kind of king.
"Yeah... well, about that..." they both knew exactly where this was going, but before they could do anything, the boy was already running, so fast that they couldn't even think of keeping up. "I WANT TO BE A WARRIOR!"
He was screaming for the millionth time, his speech echoing through the palace. Vivi cupped her face with a sigh, but she also couldn't hide the small smile that formed on her mouth. That boy was just too much like her husband.
"I'm sorry Vivi-sama, this is my fault for letting him get away, I'm going after him right now!"
The bluenette laugh made him stop before he even tried.
"No need to, you won't be able to reach him either way. We're going to finish his classes for today, but tomorrow he'll make up for it. And ask Pell or Chaka to help."
She spoke with a slight smile, before turning and heading to the throne room.
"Understood. And when are you going to tell him the surprise?"
A mischievous smile formed on the queen's face.
"We will see."
...
Looking from side to side, making sure no one would find him, Kamon sighs and, without making a sound, enters his room. Sometimes his hands landed on his head, he missed the feel of the straw hat on him. It was uncomfortable not having it there, but he had to understand his mother's side.
Sighing, more annoyed at not being able to wear the hat than from fatigue, he decided to cheer himself up. Going to the bottom drawer of his closet, he started pulling out a bunch of stuff, mostly books he would never even read or open, all to get the last thing in the drawer. A piece of paper, to be precise, a poster.
It had a picture of a muscular man, he was holding a straw hat similar to Kamon's, but bigger, with his right hand on his head, he had dark hair in a similar shape to the boy, eyes of the same color and intensity, and under his left eye was a small scar. He wore an open red shirt, showing off his muscular chest, as well as an X-shaped scar, which according to what the boy was told, he got in a big war. And on his face, he carried a big smile, one that seemed to mix challenge, excitement and fun. Underneath the poster was a name, title and price on this man's head.
MONKEY D. LUFFY, THE SECOND PIRATE KING
Reward: 10,000,000,000,000.
DEAD OR ALIVE
Of course, for Kamon, he wasn't just the Pirate King, or the savior of his country, he was much more than that, he was the father he idolized. Mainly because his father was the one who supported him most in his dream.
"Do you want to be a warrior instead of a prince?"
He asked the boy in his lap. The little one played with the beard on his chin, and nodded, saying yes. Luffy laughed happily, a cup of sake in his hand, and another stroking his son's head.
"Yes! I want to be strong like you daddy. I don't want to read books or sit on the throne like mommy. I don't want to run a kingdom, I want to fight!
The boy said excitedly. In his mind's eye, he imagined himself fighting like his father, against the same kind of monstrous opponents as he did, whether to protect the kingdom of Alabasta, or just to be strong. Kamon wanted to be someone who could walk on the same level as his father, be as powerful as he was, be on an equal footing with him.
"Shishishi, so you want to be strong? Want to come with me on a trip?"
The boy's eyes sparkled as bright as stars, maybe even more so. But before he could answer two fists came slamming into the Pirate King's head.
"OF COURSE NOT!"
Two voices shouted this at the same time, the Cat Burglar, the crew's navigator and also Luffy's wive, and Vivi herself, also one of Luffy's wife, and the mother of the kid that the straw hat was almost taking to the sea with him.
"Don't even think about taking our son with you!"
Vivi said with her teeth seeming to turn like those of a shark. Kamon never forgot how scared even his father looked that day.
"And I just wanted to take a trip with him..."
He muttered, still not taking his eyes off the poster in his hands. Sighing, he put the poster back in place, straightened the drawer, and sat cross-legged on the bed.
Kamon closed his eyes trying to feel everyone's presence throughout the palace. He successfully managed to feel the presence of his mother, his grandfather, his uncles Igaram, Chaka and Pell. A small smile formed on the boy's face, he had been taught the types of haki and even how to use them by his father, in secret of course. Both were afraid of the reaction Vivi, or even of his other kaasans like Nami, might have if they knew. Bored, he was just paying attention to everyone else voices, not really paying attention to what he was doing.
He didn't even notice when abruptly the sound of the raindrops stopped falling, and he didn't even feel when a single man in a straw hat entered the palace, unnoticed by anyone, as if his presence could not even be felt.
...
Off the coast of Alabasta, a large ship stopped, with its crew preparing to leave. The ship was in a remote part of the country, so nobody would even notice their presence there, because if they did, they would see the famous Thousand Sunny, simply the ship of the Pirate King.
"Was it really a good idea to let him go ahead alone?"
The question came from Nami, the crew's navigator, who owns long orange hair that stretched to her waist. She wore jeans and just a bikini, and on her feet ballet shoes. Although she was about to change her clothes to something more befitting the climate for the country of the desert.
"But of course, you know how excited he was. And can you blame him? Besides, Luffy would never do anything to make trouble for Vivi or Kamon-chan, although we still have to worry about him convincing his father to take him on some adventure."
The last part was said with a sarcastic tone. The one who spoke was Nico Robin, the archaeologist of the crew. She wore an open denim jacket, showing most of her cleavage and leaving her belly button out. Her legs were covered by an orange skirt, with floral details in green and yellow, on her feet she wore red shoes, and she had sunglasses on top of her head. In her arms she also carried a small baby girl with dark hair, and with facial resemblances to the captain himself.
"Don't even joke with it..."
Despite saying that, Nami had a warm smile.
...
Kamon was staring at his fists covered in the dark metallic-toned layer of the armament haki. His expression showed that he was clearly holding onto it with great effort, until the haki in his fist came undone. The boy took a deep breath, a sheen of sweat appearing on his forehead.
"Keeping it for three minutes straight is still difficult."
He complained, throwing himself on his bed. He really wanted to be outside, training on breaking rocks, but his mom would never let him out in this rain, and the last time he tried, she... never again! It was only in that moment of silence that he finally realized the rain had stopped. Frowning his brows he thought about leaving the room, but before that, he heard someone knocking on the door. His brows furrowed even further from not being able to sense the presence of anyone around. He slowly went to the door and opened it, curious to who might be skilled enough to hide their presence from him. The most obvious option never crossed his mind.
"Shishishi, yo, Kamon!"
Before opening the door fully, he already heard his father's cheerful greeting. It was now clear why the rain had stopped, since his father had returned.
Yeah, it was a pretty short chapter, but it will do for now. And about a kid knowing how to use haki, why not? So, what you guys think of Kamon? And any bets on what might be Luffy's devil fruit here? I am not exactly good with thinking of names, so with some kids I will go with the obvious, but I still think it will be different. Next chapter we will be seeing Luffy and Robin's kids.
