EPISODE 19: BLACKENED RHINO PART 4
(Adapted from "Monarch of the World")

After another 30 second recap, we pick up where we left off. Our heroes standing by the ocean, unmorphed and injured from their previous fight, with Derrick Barnett, the man taken by Sagittar and turned into Zoo-Killer, standing before them free with his Morpher in his hand.

Derrick: I uh…I don't know really know what else to say right now.

Benny: That's okay. We're just happy you're safe.

The team nods before the music stops and Caleb makes a confused face.

Caleb: Wait a sec, did we just leave our zords giant-sized?

The music cuts out completely and the entire team looks comedically up into the sky behind them to see that yes indeed, their Megazords are just stuck there.

Maybe for a little more comedic touch, we see a news helicopter near them getting all the footage it can.

Jackie: Dudes, come down! Fight's over!

With a big flash, all of the Cubimals, including Derrick's, shrink and fly down to the team.

Every zord lands in their respective ranger's hands with the Giraffe zord landing in Sylvia's, the Mole in Jackie's, and the Panda in Caleb's.

And as a quick joke, Winston picks up how everyone is holding two zords.

Winston: Man. I need to find my own auxiliary zord.

Sylvia: Sorry for leaving you up there. You guys did great!

Caleb: Especially this little Grizz-I mean…Panda, now, I guess?

The Bear zord then shakes its head.

Caleb: What do you mean?

With a green flash of its eyes and some golden sparks of energy that make the team flinch, the zord transforms back into its original form, rightfully confusing everyone.

Jackie: What!? So, you turned into a completely different kind of zord, and…now you're just back to normal?

The bear zord nods.

Sylvia: Was it like a temporary boost of Link Cube energy or something?

It nods again with a little growl.

Caleb: Well, do you think you'll ever do it again?

The zord then "shrugs". Comedic silence ensues for 2 seconds as the rangers look at each other, still confused and unaware that this is an obvious jab at how Zyuohger just dropped Cube Panda in out of nowhere and pretty much never used it ever again, say for maybe one episode later in the show that may not even be adapted for this.

Jackie: …Okay then, uh—

He's cut off by the sound of the Black Rhino zord making a truck noise. Derrick turns around to see the 3 zords at his feet, looking up at him with their angry eyes. There's a brief moment of suspense as the Rhino zord's wheels start to rev up, and it then quickly flies up at Derrick…but the tension is quickly cut as the Rhino Cubimal starts to make happy noises as Derrick grabs onto the oddly shaped zord with both arms, pulling it into a hug.

Derrick: (smiles) I-It's all good…We're free.

The crocodile and wolf zords hop onto his shoulders.

Jackie: Right. So, I know you probably have a lot of questions right now.

Winston: We do as well.

Sylvia: Yes, like A DOZEN a least.

Benny: But regardless, we're happy to have you on the team. Want to come back with us to our base, Derrick?

As a small detail, Winston looks a little conflicted hearing Benny say this.

He offers his hand forward for Derrick to shake it.

But Derrick just stares at it. Confused. He then looks up at them with his befuddled face, which the team quickly notices.

Caleb: Is everything okay, lad?

Derrick: …Umm…l-look, I appreciate the offer but uh…it's been a long, LONG, day and uh…I need a change of clothes, maybe some food, I—

Benny: OH, right, right, of course, you…you go get some rest. Maybe, instead, we try tomorrow or—

Derrick: Yeah, I could….I could do that tomorrow.

Benny: Alright, well, we're at the Washi Safari Zoo and Aquarium when you're ready.

Derrick: Y-Yeah. Cool…Gotcha. (whips out his Morpher) Jambo.

The rangers make confused expressions again.

With that…he TELEPORTS.

Just like the ranger's, he's out of the area with the zords in his hands.

The CGI for the teleportation is the same as well, except colored to be a mix of indigo, silver, and gold.

Or heroes rightfully stand, still confused, as every time we've seen him leave previously, he teleported via the Arrow Galion's technology.

Caleb: Huh. Good to know he can do that.

Jackie: Well, uh…guess we'll meet him in the Sanctum?

The team shrugs.

Hard cut up to the Arrow Galion, moments after Midaria teleports up quickly.

Sagittar: Are you alright, my dear?

Midaria: (kneeling) Y-Yes. I think I'm fine.

Blockhead: Well, looks like the Rangers have won over Zoo-Killer.

Insidion: Indeed. What now master?

But Sagittar is frozen in his seat, just looking down at his lap, even more, blank and expressionless than his suit usually is.

Midaria: S-Sagittar?

And then something interesting happens.

Sagittar's head…glitches.

Think the avatar effects used in Power Rangers Beast Morphers for Blaze and Roxy, but colored silver and gold while being super quick.

Then as quickly as this happens, he speaks up in a calm tone.

Sagittar: Beautiful day, isn't it?

Blockhead: …Uh…what?

Boom. Another glitch happens, and he starts speaking in a more hysterical tone.

Sagittar: (laughs) They have no idea they're being toyed with.

Insidion: Umm, who now?

Boom. Yet another glitch as he starts speaking with a bit more anger.

Sagittar: Why haven't I just killed them all yet?

Midaria: SAGITTAR.

Finally, one more glitch happens, and his calm voice returns, panting for several seconds as the generals turn around awkwardly trying to keep to their business.

Sagittar: I'm sorry, w-where were we?

Midaria: Uh, Zoo-Killer?

Sagittar: Right. Gentlemen, be ready to collect him when I give the order tomorrow.

Insidion: You…want us to get him back?

Sagittar: Of course. You don't just leave broken toys behind.

Cue Theme Song (1 Minute)

Hard cut next day to the Sanctum as we see Benny and Derrick, the latter in the same grey pants, but now also in yellow shoes and a black and white compression shirt with a red horn-like symbol, stepping out of the elevator to the Washi Residence backyard.

Benny: Derrick, welcome to the Sanctum!

Derrick: (eyes widen) YO.

He slowly steps forward taking everything he sees in for a few seconds, also allowing us to see the other rangers are also here to greet him.

Caleb: Pretty nice, right?

Derrick: (chuckles) This is something else.

Jackie: Over to your left is the Training section, and over to your right is the Lounging Section.

Derrick: Ight…And THAT?

He points to the main attraction of the lair.

Winston: That is the Link Cube. It's basically the source of our powers. It's tied into both the Animal Kingdom and the Morphing Grid. Well, that and a certain forgotten race.

Derrick: A what now?

Sylvia: Right. We need to talk to you about Zoomans!

The newest member's eyes widen again…but this time in a way that looks afraid.

Sylvia: Woah, amigo, are you ok?

An image then flickers across the screen of the 3 deceased Zoomans for barely even a second.

Derrick: (exhales shakily) N-No, I'm not.

Benny: Do you need to sit down—

He says this while putting his hand on Derrick's shoulder, which makes him whip around and say…

Derrick: Don't touch me!

This makes Benny step back a little afraid.

Derrick: Uh, sorry. Y-Yes, please.

Cut several minutes later to Derrick sitting on the Lounging Section couch.

Derrick: (exhales) Guess it's time for my side of things.

Winston: Take your time. And if you don't wanna talk, that's ok too.

Derrick: …It's a bit of a long story but…growing up in my community, my family was poor. This was before a lot of cities tried to make everything equal for everyone like they do now so my area wasn't the best to live in…Because we couldn't afford a ton of food, I was really skinny. Kids in school used to make fun of me for it and it made me shy.

Sylvia: Why would anyone pick on you for that?

Jackie: Yeah. It's better than being fat. No offense, Winston.

Winston: None taken. In fact, I agree with you.

As a slight visual gag, we see Benny poke at his own slightly plump gut and being a little bit embarrassed by it.

Derrick: It's because I wanted to be a sports star when I grew up. But no matter how hard I worked out and even though I really like working out, it wasn't enough…Fast forward a few painful years later, I moved here a few months back. I've got a decent job cleaning up at a gym after hours. So, here I am, on my own, in this new country, no friends…no family. Just my job, and my workouts to keep me moving…Then Sagittar showed up, and well the rest is history, right? …(exhales) And now, I gotta live the fact that those Zoomans…the wolf, the croc, and the rhino…were killed because of me.

Caleb: Woah, back it up, lad!

Jackie: What he said. A bit dark, don't you think?

Winston: Derrick, you're the victim in this situation.

Sylvia: You were forced into being Zoo-Killer.

Benny: Yeah. That wasn't your fault.

Derrick: …Was it though.

Benny: Huh?

But then, Derrick grabs his head in discomfort as images of the 3 Zoomans flash on the screen.

He shakes his head and walks away from the couch.

Derrick: Look. I really appreciate all of this…Being able to meet you guys, and seeing this is great, but…I'm not ready to join…I'm sorry…For everything.

He whips out his Morpher again.

Benny: Wait, don't! We want to help you.

Derrick: I know…But I don't think I deserve that right now…I'm gonna take a walk by the park…Jambo.

With that, he teleports out.

The team lets out sighs as Martha shows up in the Sanctum elevator.

Martha: I'm here! Work went a bit longer than expected, but I am ready to talk. Where is he?

Caleb: …He, uh, just teleported to the park.

Martha: Oh. Really?

Jackie: YUP.

Winston: This was a bad idea. He's still shaken about everything. We shouldn't have made him feel like he has to join.

Benny: …You're right…I'm gonna go apologize to him.

Jackie: Dude, are you sure that'll go well?

Benny: Even if it doesn't, it's the right thing to do.

Sylvia: Alright, but if he wants to be left alone, leave him alone.

Benny: Okay. (takes his Morpher)

But then, on cue, the Cubimals hop up and make distress noises, implying monsters are nearby.

Caleb: UGH, you've got to be kidding me!

Jackie: I swear these monsters have the worst timing!

Martha: You know what? Let's split up. I still want to take to Derrick, and he hasn't met me before so maybe it'll go over better. Benny and will go find him at the park while you guys go handle ranger business.

Winston: Alright, well, good luck, I guess.

Martha: You too. Now go! People could be in danger!

Caleb: Right! Let's move, lads!

The 4 whip out their Morphers, yell "Doubutsu" and teleport.

Hard cut to downtown Dolphin Coast where a group of Amoebanoids is harassing a bunch of innocent people. We then see Blockhead enter the shot.

Blockhead: That's the spirit! Don't stop until they show themselves!

Cut to Insidion, watching the grunts running around with their blades from the top of some stairs.

Insidion: They should be arriving any—

Caleb: (in the distance) Attack!

Insidion: BINGO.

Hard cut to original footage of Caleb and Sylvia leaping into each pin an Amoebanoid to the ground, before whipping around to slash several others attempting to surround and slash them simultaneously. We then cut to Jackie and Winston fighting their own set of grunts as Blockhead walks up in the background.

Blockhead: Long time no see, Zoo-Keepers!

Jackie and Winston: Blockhead!?

Blockhead: (as he holds up/pulls out his sword) I'll only ask this once.

Hard cut to Insidion fighting Caleb and Sylvia with his weapon in lance mode while asking them the same question.

Insidion: Where is Zoo-Killer?

Sylvia: (while blocking an attempted hit) We don't know!

Caleb: (gets between them/blocks another hit) So you're here to bring him back yourselves, huh!?

He punches Insidion as we hard cut to Winston being thrown against a wall; Blockhead quickly walks up, pulling him up, and putting his sword against his neck.

Blockhead: Give us an answer if you want to see your families again.

A Savage Blaster shot is then fired into his shoulder.

Jackie: Even if we knew, we wouldn't tell!

Blockhead: I figured you'd say that!

He then tosses Winston forward, knocking Jackie over with enough force to cause some sparks (those being added via original effects).

Back over to Insidion, we see him jabbing his lance quickly at Caleb and Sylvia's chests, causing many sparks to fly, then knocking them both down with a blue energy slash.

Insidion: Well, I guess you leave us no choice then, Zoo-Keepers.

Both generals menacingly walk forward toward the defeated rangers in front of them.

The camera then cuts to black as their hands reach forward to grab the team.

We then cut to the Dolphin Coast park. We see Derrick sitting at a bench by a small lake, hanging his head down and looking lost in thought.

Benny: Hello again.

But then he looks up and sees the Washi family approach.

Derrick: You? Wait, who is—

Martha: Hi. I'm Martha Washi.

Derrick: Oh, you're his mom, and the team's boss, right?

Martha: Yep. It's nice to meet you.

She offers him a handshake which he reluctantly takes while talking.

Derrick: So, uh…what are you two doing here, exactly?

Martha: Benny's told me a lot about you…Everything you've been through recently must be…really tough huh?

Derrick: (frowns) Yeah, that's one way to put it.

Benny: …You know, about what you said earlier…the Zoomans that Sagittar captured…that wasn't your fault you know.

Derrick: (exhales) You don't understand.

Benny: Well, I want to…If you don't mind, I want to know why you think this is your fault.

Derrick: …Because I agreed to it. (this confuses/intrigues Benny and Martha)…All my life I've been timid, weak, shy, scrawny, you name it. Getting picked on in school was bad enough but then to have the issues I did at my house…I never felt at home…When Sagittar found me during a late-night jog…he said he understood me and that he didn't want to hurt me and that he could make me strong…But he didn't kidnap me or force me to do anything…He just…let me choose on my own.

This reveal surprises Benny and Martha a little bit.

Derrick: For the past few months, he trained me to get stronger on his ship overnight and in secret. It was only after he caught the Zoomans that he put me under control. The rest of the time…I was awake…And I did nothing when I could've so easily done…something.

There's silence for a moment.

Benny: …You remind me of myself, you know. (Derrick looks up) The reason I'm able to be the Red Ranger…is because my powers were given to me by a Hawk and Gorilla Zooman in a way that…drained some of their life forces…I still feel a little guilty about it…And there's been plenty of other times in my life where, even when something isn't my fault, I feel guilt over it somehow…It's a really bad habit I've developed…And it's made me do stupid things on some missions…But, if I'm gonna be stuck with this power…I might as well use it for something good…And being the Red Eagle Ranger…has honestly been the greatest experience of my life.

This gets a smile out of Martha, showing she's happy about her son doing this.

Nice contrast in comparison to back in Episodes 9 and 11.

Derrick: That's different though.

Benny: Huh?

Derrick: You said you were given those powers. But the Zoomans I got power from had it taken against their will.

Benny lets out a sigh of guilt for making the comparison.

Derrick: (stands up) I don't know what to do!... And I'm scared of the power that I have now, okay!?

Benny: …I see. I'm sorry…I don't want to force you to fight…You should rest.

Martha: What he said. But before we go, Derrick, I want you to know something…No matter what choice you make…we don't blame you for anything.

Derrick is a little surprised by these words.

But then, Benny's Morpher buzzes.

Benny: (answers it) Talk to me.

Insidion: (over the phone) How do you, Red Ranger?

Benny: (gasps) You're—

Hard cut to an abandoned warehouse as the headhunter continues talking.

Insidion: The headhunter Insidion, yes. I'll make this quick.

The camera pans around to reveal Jackie, Caleb, Winston, and Sylvia chained up in this warehouse with Blockhead standing guard.

Insidion: We have your friends in a warehouse. Teleport here with Zoo-Killer…or things will get worse for them.

He says the last sentence as he walks back into the shot holding their Morphers in his hands.

Caleb: (over the phone) Don't do it, lad!

Blockhead: (over the phone) Shut it!

The call hangs up after Benny hears Caleb get punched in the gut as Martha and Derrick look concerned.

Derrick: (stands up) They're here for me…We have to save them! Turn me over!

Benny: No! We're not letting them take you again! I'll go save my friends!

Martha: Benny, wait!

Benny: Mom, now's not the time to—

Martha: I'll go.

Benny: …What?

She puts her hands on his Morpher, which he still grips.

Martha: I sent them out without backup not knowing those generals would show up. And you've taken enough hits recently. I'll handle this.

She tries to pull it away, but he grips tighter.

Benny: N-No, I…you can't—I…

Martha: …Please. Let me do this.

Benny: But I…I can't lose you too, mom.

Martha: (cups his cheek) You won't…Do you know how I know that? Because after everything that's happened…you're still here.

Benny hesitantly nods and lets his grip on the Morpher loosen.

Martha: (holds it up) Doubutsu!

She teleports out in a red flash, leaving Benny and Derrick very worried.

Benny: I have to go after her. You go home. Stay safe.

Derrick: Wait! …You need a Morpher to teleport to them directly.

He whips out his own.

Benny: No, Derrick, I can't ask you to—

Derrick: I'm sorry, do you wanna save your friends or not?

The slight change of tone catches Benny off guard for a moment, before he looks down at the flashlight Morpher, nothing but pure hesitation in his eyes.

Cut to the warehouse. The rest of the team hangs from their chains, tired and beaten.

…And then a voice calls from outside.

Martha: Hey, numbskulls!

Everyone looks to the door and is confused/surprised to see Martha Washi, walking up with a death glare, ready to fight.

Insidion: Umm, excuse me, who are you!?

Martha: I'm their boss.

She pulls out the Morpher/presses the #6 button.

Martha: The name's Martha.

She then spins the top while saying "Zoo Mode Go!"…and morphs for the first time.

The hollow cube energy closes around her, and in a red flash, she's transformed into the Red Gorilla Ranger.

Insidion While I respect your bravery, you've just doomed your team.

Blockhead: Hold on. If Zoo-Killer isn't here yet, there's no harm in passing the time with a fight.

He then runs forward and starts fighting Martha.

Because she's inexperienced, he seems to be getting the upper hand on her so far.

But then we cut from Sentai footage back to original footage as Insidion walks over to the rangers, and whispers this.

Insidion: Quickly, while he's distracted. Just tell me where Zoo-Killer is, and I'll get you out somehow. Please. You don't have to die.

Winston: (gritting his teeth) As if we're ever gonna trust YOU.

This response clearly shows Winston is still upset about what happened to Hitarthi, and immediately after finishing this sentence…he SPITS in Insidion's face!

Insidion: (whispers) OOH, you're very lucky I deserve that one.

He then punches Winston in the gut.

Insidion: Regardless...I must play along with the hunt.

He then runs forward, whipping out his blaster device in lance mode, and joins Blockhead in fighting Martha.

After a few more seconds of her getting slashed, punched, kicked, etc., we cut outside to Benny and Derrick running up and looking inside behind a corner.

The two then start whispering.

Derrick: What now?

Benny: I got this. Go home or wherever it's safe.

Derrick: But you could get killed!

Benny: I'm gonna try sneaking in and I'll go from there. Just leave while you can.

Derrick: But I—

Benny: GO.

He starts quietly running around the building to see if there's a back entrance or something to sneak in through.

Derrick: (still whispering) Ugh, what do I do!?

But all of sudden, his zords appear behind him, spooking him.

Derrick: Okay, first off, NEVER do that! Second off—

Before he can finish…the eyes of the Cubimals start to glow along with Derrick's eyes.

The camera zooms in on his face…and we cut to some kind of empty foggy location. He looks around confused…until he hears a voice coming from behind him.

Rossai: Greetings, human.
(He sounds like Dwayne Johnson)

Turning around, Derrick sees the Rhino, Crocodile, and Wolf Zoomans standing before him (Adapted from the Rhino/Crocodile/Wolf-Man).

Due to the lighting in the room, they look rather ominous

Derrick: …It's you. You're—(he gets on his knees) I'm sorry! I understand if you don't forgive me, alright!? I swear, I never wanted this! I just wanted to be stronger, but I fell right into a trap! I should've done something earlier! Please, at least understand that I'm sorry! Please!

He's now on the verge of tears.

Then…the music cuts out as the Wolf Zooman speaks.

Lupus: Ugh, enough with the crying already!
(He sounds like Woriz from 'Legends of Chima')

Derrick: (sniffles) Huh?

Then, the Crocodile Zooman speaks.

Estoro: It's okay! We know this isn't your fault!
(He sounds like Cragger from 'Legends of Chima')

Rossai: We wanted to introduce ourselves. I'm Rossai. This is Estoro and Lupus.

Derrick: …O-Okay. Well, while you're here—

Rossai: You're worried about what to do with your powers, right?

Derrick: Yes! I still feel so guilty about everything, but…

Rossai: But you still showed up to fight.

Derrick: Exactly! I-I don't know what to do right now, so could you please give me some advice here?

Lupus: Maybe we shouldn't. Maybe we should haunt you like a curse! Mind-controlled or not, your mistakes will NEVER disappear!

Estoro: (grabbing Lupus' snout) OR, maybe a certain smart hound needs to encourage you more so you can jump back into the fight free of guilt!

Lupus: I'll show you jumping into a fight, gator breath!

Estoro: Oh, we're doing this RIGHT NOW!?

Lupus: Come here!

Estoro: No, YOU come here!

The two start fighting in the background as Rossai steps up and grabs Derrick's shoulder.

Rossai: You're feeling guilty about fighting the rangers, but you also want to fight WITH the rangers, right?

Derrick nods, and then the music stops.

Rossai: Well then…(shrugs) why not do both?

Derrick: Huh?

Estoro and Lupus: Huh!?

With their reactions, the camera super zoomings back at a quick speed, and we cut to Derrick now "back in the real world".

The Cubimals are gone, and so is whatever that was, but his Morpher is now in his hand.

Derrick: …I can do both.

He says this while tightening his grip on the flashlight-like device.

Back inside the warehouse, Martha's in a tight spot. We see her take a big blue energy slash from Insidion before being pushed back with enough force from Blockhead that not only is there a purple energy shockwave, but she flies back a few feet and is forcefully unmorphed.

The Rangers: Martha!

We then get a quick cut to Benny, who snuck in like he said, watching in fear as his mother gets hit.

Benny: (gasps/whispers) No!

Martha starts trying to get up on her feet.

Blockhead: What's wrong, pretty lady? Had enough already?

He chuckles as he and Insidion menacingly walk forward in slow motion, ready to finish the job.

Derrick: That's enough!

Blockhead: Huh?

The generals turn around to see Derrick, standing at the open warehouse entrance. This time, he looks more confident.

Insidion: About time, Zoo-Killer.

Martha: (straining) W-Why did you come?

Derrick: The rhino's opinion made the most sense.

The music comedically cuts out completely for about a second…

Everyone: HUH?

..and then starts back up.

Derrick: If I'm gonna feel guilty, then I might as well throw some hands while I do!

He holds up his Morpher in his right hand.

A fusion of the Zoo-Killer theme and the theme song begins to play in the background as he waves the Morpher to his left, slaps the bottom button against his left hand in a motion similar to the Dino Thunder morph sequence, and lowers it while yelling out…

Derrick: It's Morphing Time!

He then turns the cube to the Rhino side, making it flash.

Derrick: ZOO. (slaps the button on his leg) MODE. (waves the Morpher up as the hollow cubic energy appears) GO!

With one last wave of the Morpher, the hollow cubic energy closes around him. Cue greenscreen footage as his suit forms, followed by a CGI gold crocodile, and a CGI silver wolf, biting down over his head to form the symbols on his suit, with the final of course being the Black Rhino to make the three chest symbols complete, AND to form the helmet as its eyes flash red.

Derrick: From now on, I am…

Cue the epic solo sixth ranger pose.

Derrick: Keeper of the Ground!...Black…TRINO Ranger! (Cue 3 beast CGI logo flashing behind his pose)

Jackie: Nice!

Winston: TRI-No?

Caleb: Way to go, Derrick!

Sylvia nods with a smile before we get a brief split-screen shot of Benny and Martha looking relieved.

Derrick: What's say we take this outside!?

He then runs out the entrance.

Insidion: Get back here!

He and Blockhead quickly follow after him with their blades.

Benny: Savage Saber!

With a quick slash, the chains around the ranger's hands are broken.

Jackie: (look around/blushes): Dude, you're here!

Benny: (as he helps her up) Sorry about the rough landing. Hey mom?

Martha: (standing up) I know, I know. (holds up the Morpher) You're gonna need this back.

Benny: Thanks. (grabs it) Take a break and meet me outside when you can!

He runs for the entrance as the others help each other up.

Speaking of outside, we hard cut to Derrick, Blockhead, and Insidion, fighting near some concrete drain tubes. He punches Blockhead back, dodges a slash from Insidion, lands a few more kicks on Blockhead, and deflects an attempted Insidion sword jab. Suddenly, Benny leaps into the fight, fully morphed, tackles the cyborg to the ground, and then starts sword fighting him with his Savage Saber.

Benny: (grabbing Insidion's arm) Sorry I'm late!

Derrick: (grabbing Blockhead) Nah you're good—Woah!

Blockhead flips Derrick onto the ground. He tries to stomp on him quickly, but the newest official ranger dodges it and two attempted fist slams. One the second of those, he gets back on his feet and steps a few feet back while whipping out his Morpher.

Derrick: Wolf Mode Go!

With a quick flash, his helmet flips up, and he's able to block a Blockhead punch with his Howl Rifle. Blockhead tries to hit him again, but he of course avoids it and then tries to hit him in the gut with the end of the rifle. Unfortunately, that has no effect on him given his thick blocky skin. But Derrick quickly makes up for it with this.

Derrick: Timber Fire!

Now, his blasts are like the Savage Blaster's orange cube shots.

he fires 6 into Blockhead's chest, causing sparks to fly and him to step back. Blockhead then punches into a concrete drain tube, sending rocks flying forward. Derrick uses his speed bursts to get out of the way. After doing 3 quick zooms, he goes for a 4th one and ends up sliding forward while firing 9 more shots into Blockhead's chest, before getting back onto his feet, blocking a few more attempted punches, and to add insult to injury, fires 2 more shots into him like a pro.

Back over to Benny, he leaps off one of the tubes while still clashing blades with Insidion.

Benny: (as he jumps off) Eagle Shredder!

He then slashes the robot 2 times and then has his 3rd hit blocked, but he quickly makes up for it with another slash and a torso kick. Insidion is sent rolling back several feet over to Blockhead, giving Derrick enough time to land a quick hit on him as he rolls.

Blockhead; Tch. Nice job, Metal Mouth!

Insidion: Oh, shut it!

Blockhead: I've got these two.

He then walks forward after punching his fists together, ready to keep fighting as Benny and Derrick stand together.

Derrick: (Morpher out) Croc Mode Go!

Benny: Gorilla Mode Go!

The Red Ranger flips up his helmet and quickly transforms into the Red Gorilla Ranger.

Meanwhile, Derrick's helmet flips up to its golden crocodile state.

Derrick: Scaly Staff!

A few seconds go by of the two trying to restrain or hit Blockhead with him fighting back in return, neither side gaining any ground in that time. But Benny and Derrick push back against him with the staff and pin him against the wall of a garage door (one part of the warehouse), they simultaneously punch him in the gut and shoulders.

But then, Insidion rejoins the fray.

He swings his blade, forcing the two to break the staff lock.

Blockhead grabs onto Derrick's staff and the two struggle while Benny grabs Insidion's torso.

With a good punch from Benny and a good throw from Derrick, the two headhunters go flying into the air and land on the ground with a thud next to each other.

Benny: Let's end this!

Derrick: Right!

He whips out the Morpher and taps the button again while spinning the cube.

Derrick: Zoo Mode Go!

His helmet flips back to its Rhino Mode.

Derrick: Triple Primal Power!

Cue flashy transformation of the shoulders and gloves.

The two headhunters then get back on their feet.

Derrick: Timber Slash!

He then launches 3 energy claw slashes each at the generals, not just once, but twice.

Derrick: Saltwater Trash!

His glove-like tail then extends forward with a golden glow like it's some giant whip and slams down on Insidion and Blockhead.

Derrick: Let's GO!

He then takes a charging stance and rushes forward.

Derrick: Wild Final CRASH!

As he yells "Crash" and charges forward, his Rhino symbol flashes on the screen.

Insidion: Gah! Y-You first!

He quickly shoves Blockhead in front of him.

Blockhead: Hey! What are you—!?

BOOM. Derrick crashes so hard into them that Insidion is sent flying back, and Blockhead is blown into small blue cubes for a third time this season.

We then also see one of the two was holding onto the other 4 Keeper Cubes as those land on the ground too.

Speaking of which, the team and Martha come running out to reclaim the Morphers.

Sylvia: Over here!

They stop and look at the defeated monsters.

The Rangers: Huh?

Insidion gets back on his feet while Blockhead's cubes quickly merge back together into a rather ticked-off headhunter.

Blockhead: …WHY YOU LITTLE—

Insidion: N-Now, now, you're still alive, and more importantly, I should retreat!

With a green flash, Insidion teleports out.

Blockhead simply lets out a frustrated grunt and walks away. But as Benny and Derrick prepare to run after him.

Frillpin: Zoo-Keepers!

Benny: What the…!?

We then hard cut to a giant-sized Frillpin, riding atop 3 Tri-Star Fighters.

Frillpin: Guess who's back for some big game!?

He leaps off the ships he's balancing on and lands on the ground with a loud thud.

Frillpin: Knock them down, my friends!

We quickly cut to the others grabbing their Morphers off the ground.

Martha: Lookout!

Several other Tri-Star Ships accompanying the monster start firing down on the team, forcing them to quickly leap out of the way of shots against a wall.

Derrick: (stands up) Leave this punk to me.

He walks forward with his Morpher still in hand and then hits the bottom button 3 times.

From there, he turns the cube around back to the Rhino Side.

Derrick: Black Rhino Zord!

He waves the Morpher in the air, and with a purple flash of the light, his zord on wheels comes rolling through. And once Derrick leaps into the cockpit/plugs his Morpher into the right-hand lever spot, he spins the wheel around a begins the mech battle. The Tri-Star Ships fire more shots down at him as the zord moves forward.

Next, the croc Cubimal ejects from the Rhino truck's back while Derrick leaps through the air, and then lands in that zord's cockpit, with his helmet in croc mode.

Derrick: Saltwater Crocodile Zord!

With another wheel spin, it opens up and moves forward as more shots rain down.

Some shots even deflect off the zord, likely due to its thick "scales".

Derrick: It's feeding time!

He pushes his Morpher lever forward, making the zord leap into the air and, with a golden glow of its mouth, swallow 5 Tri-Star Ships midflight like a vacuum; all 5 then exploding inside the Cubimal's stomach with steam coming out its mouth.

Our sixth ranger makes another leap into the air as the final zord ejects from the Rhino Zord's back.

This time, he lands in a cockpit with his helmet in wolf mode.

Derrick: Timber Wolf Zord!

It turns to its animal mode and charges with a howl. It then leaps into the air, goes cubic, and launches out sonic blasts that destroy 3 more Tri-Star ships.

Well, mostly. One crash lands into the mountainside nearby, allowing for an epic shot of the zord running in front of an explosion.

Frillpin: Huh!? How!?

Our sixth ranger is now back in the Rhino zord cockpit.

Derrick: Look who's all by himself. Megazord Activate!

With 3 taps of the Morpher's button, an arm wave, turning of the cube, and a forward flash of light, the zords combine.

Derrick: Safari Shadow Megazord!

Frillpin: Bring it on!

Like last time, Frillpin rolls forward in a bowling ball shape. He launches forward to hit the Megazord's chest but is caught in its arms.

Derrick: So, you like bowling, ay?

He then kicks the monster back, and…then the Safari Shadow Megazord launches multiple giant grey cubes with highlights out of its shoulders, all of which stack up to look like giant bowling pins…Because of sentai footage.

Frillpin: Now you're speaking my language! Here I come!

He rolls forward again as a ball, knocking over, knocking over every one of the cubic "pins"

Frillpin: (pin maracas in hand) Hahaha! Strike! Frillpin wins again! Behold!

The smoke then clears to reveal the crocodile and wolf zords cubic again and comedically stacked on top of the Rhino zord.

Derrick: You missed a pin AND left an opening.

The mutant lizard then comedically drops his maracas in silence.

Frillpin: Oh, come on!

The zords quickly reform the Megazord. Derrick then goes in landing 3 more punches on the monster's torso.

Derrick: It's time to put you in the ground!

He takes his Morpher out and turns the cube to the side with all 3 animals again.

The Safari Shadow Megazord starts charging its finisher.

Derrick: Safari Shadow Final Strike!

Then, BAM. The animal spirits of all three Cubimals are launched forward in a blast or sunset-colored energy, striking right through his opponent.

Frillpin: Augh! No! Why did you have to pin this on me!?

With a little hop and a stiff fall, KABOOM. Frillpin explodes as Derrick's mech poses, but for the first time, there's no finishing catchphrase as Derrick just leans against his wheel and sighs with relief before we get one last shot of the Shadow Safari Megazord, standing victorious. Only this time, in a good way.

Cut back to the Arrow Galion.

Insidion and Blockhead find Sagittar is gone.

Blockhead: Where's the boss?

Insidion: Must've gone back to his chambers for rest.

Then, the cockpit revolving doors open slightly.

The two look over and find their newest headhunter partner trying to get their attention.

Huntoceros: Insidion. Let's talk. NOW.

Insidion: Right, I almost forgot.

Blockhead: (stops him) Hold on. What are you up to?

Insidion: …I'm about to find out…Care to join?

Blockhead hesitates for a second, but with a quick nod, the 3 headhunters exit the now empty room.

Back on Earth, we see the team and Derrick now unmorphed in the park.

He hands Benny a little piece of paper.

Derrick: Here's my number. Just call me and I'll come running…Thank you for everything.

Martha: No problem. And remember. The zoo gates are always open for you.

Derrick: Ight, cool. (he and Benny shake hands) See you later.

He starts walking, then jogging away with his Morpher in his hand, and fortunately, the smile on his face and his posture seem more confident as he does.

Martha: I still wish Harris would answer my calls so that I could know about that Morpher's cube and, apparently, there being 3 more Zoomans.

Sylvia: Speaking of which, again, we're sorry about fighting him.

Caleb: We'll find a way to make it up to him when we can.

Jackie: Do you think those headhunters will come back for our partner?

Winston: I don't know…And a part of me still wonders if he fully knows what he signed up for.

Benny: Let's not worry about that. For now…let's just be happy that we have a ranger.

Our heroes smile and nod in agreement.

Winston and Martha however still have uncertain looks.

The episode then ends with one last big wide shot of Derrick, still on his rog; his silhouette running against the sunset, with his shadow being his ranger form, and with that, this concludes the 4 part origin of Derrick Barnett. The Black Trino Ranger.
