When a hyperspace accident happens there is no debris or really any sign that something happened. Tests do show effects, but unless you are looking for it you can not record it. Most just call it, going into the void. As if something happens to you, you would never know. Then of course there is the cases where you do know or survive. However, those cases don't last long as you are pulled out of hyperspace just before you get torn to shreds by some black hole. That or you get stuck in the event horizon and die of starvation millions of subjective years later. No one really knows what causes the mishaps or what the results would be if something happened and they suddenly came back.
Thousands of years and millions of accidents and no known survival event has been recorded. Except one hundred yer jump. Most that survive die of the circumstances of reentry into normal space. Others crash on some world and die due to lack of food or inhospitably. The ones who survive on a livable planet fade away into time. Then there is the rare case that they not only survive, but can fly away to tell the tale. This then becomes a problem for the one who survived and it is a story that is told rarely and is heard from a friend of a friend who is a spacer who heard it from a friend. Galactic legends, myths everyone of them. A molecule of truth.
The difference can change the galaxy if they only knew. Now these are just the accidents, but you have other factors going on and one of those factors is the Force. Some mystics say it has a will of its own. Others say it only has a will of what you give it. Others still say that you forge its direction or command it as you are the force of will on the Force. However, it is looked at or how it acts is still a mystery. A simple pause in a hyperspace activation could change everything. This is such a story. One that affects time and the Galactic Republic.
Commander, this title is not new, but to me it is. I have had many titles. Initiate, padawan, Hero of Tython, Knight of the Republic, Jedi Scum, Battlemaster, Hero of Coruscant, Paladin of House Organa, Liberator of Balmorra, Marshal General of Corellia and many others to include many identifying me as the one who removed the Sith Emperor. Of all of those Alliance Commander is the only one that remained. The spirit or aberration of Tenebrae was finally gone. The fleet of the Eternal Empire reduced to a mere two hundred and fifty ships. Most of the Gemini droids wanting to be free it would be so easy to let them, but the Galaxy needed them. Hundreds of systems were still under the thumb of former units of the Eternal Empire, the Sith Empire, or some depot who rose to take control. The Galactic Republic was little more than a name. It had barely enough order to keep the core worlds together.
Dozens of campaigns were in the works but being well handled by different Mandalorian clans using Paxton Rall's multiple fleets. This mission was one that needed to happen and was going against one of the largest concentrations of Star Fortresses. The Sullust System contained a dozen of them not as a deterrent to their people, but as a staging ground to deploy them further into the core to worlds that could be subjugated by any of a number of aggressors. The alliance commander stood on the Eternal Empire's command ship, The Restoration. This was the third and final ship in the Eternal Class.
"Lana what is our status."
"All ship's are reporting in the green."
"Good, and how is your new crew?"
"A bit green as well. Though not as green as Lord Scourge's group."
"They maybe a bit green, but that is only from the extreme maneuvers I have been placing them through. A fleet battle was not something I had originally agreed on. We still need to find that ship."
"I know, but this comes first then we will be able to have the time to go hunting. Kira is your group ready?"
"It is Commander. As long as Doc behaves himself."
"That scoundrel? I doubt it." The women laughed knowing too well how he loved to flirt.
"Mand'alor are your troops ready?"
"Five by five commander. Too eager as always."
"Good to hear, Shae" The Commander looked at the fleet formation before giving the order.
"Admiral Aygo you may link all ships and engage when ready."
"Very well commander. All ships of the fleet link up to the Restoration and prepare for hyperspace." Aygo pressed several places on his screen. He paused only for a second to make sure every ship was linked in before engaging the ships' drives.
This was the pivotal moment between an accident and a routine coordinated jump. T7-O1 was the only one that noticed this fluctuation and sent a signal to the Gemini droid to pause for several microseconds to compensate. His silent scream as the Gemini droid did not adjust all the ships in time before the jump coils of fleet spooled up and pulled them into hyperspace. Two hundred ships arrived at their destinations and immediately engaged the enemy. This battle was won with a bit more effort as the Restoration and fifty random ships never arrived. The Commander, Jedi Battlemaster Darra Suro, and Mand'alor Shae Vizla the Avenger with half her clan were never seen again.
This included many other Mandalorian clans, Jedi, Sith, and Zakuul Knights. Both Republic marines and Sith troopers were mixed together into units for both boarding actions and possible ground action. They were solid members of the Alliance and had long ago put away any differences in ideology or patriotism. They used their differences as strengths to counter the other's weakness. Many Jedi, Sith, and Zakuul teams had formed powerful triangles. These triplets in the Force used both the dark and the light while being balanced by the third. Many of their traits were combined with smaller units having a Mando, marine, and trooper working together, called Triads and they would succeed where basic squads would not. This fragmented fleet reemerged into a very different battle in a very different time.
"Status Admiral?"
"Fifty ships reporting. Commander we lost two hundred ships."
"Navigation sitrep!" Several ensigns scrambled their appendages over their screens to see who would come up with an answer first.
"Commander, unknown sir current star patterns are not in our data bases." Ensign Byronic was first, but Ensign Novena reported more accurate information.
"Commander, we just linked in to the local holonet and the system is Naboo in the Chommell sector. Planetary comms are currently being jammed."
"By who? Sensor chief!" Aygo yelled while rushing over to their station.
"A series of large ringed ships are blocking access to the planet in a siege formation. Estimated to be up to 3000 meters in diameter. Weapon composition unknown."
"Keep scanning get me comms with that fleet." The relative silence lasted about twenty seconds. The Commander ordered.
"The other fleet is launching fighters and is firing on another ship."
"Any contact yet?" Shae asked.
"None, but the small ship is transmitting their transponder as belonging to the Queen of Naboo."
"All ships attack protocol Alpha. Engage the capital ship closest to that royal vessel and open fire. Launch all available fighters!" Aygo calmly ordered and before he ended his orders the main batteries from fifty ship opened fire. In seconds the beams reached out and connected with the shields of the opposing ship before they flared with the sudden impact and winked out just before the ship was pounded by the slower heavy turbolasers and finally the proton torpedoes ended the ship in a massive explosion. In ten seconds that ship had vanished and in the next twenty seconds, four more ships joined the first. Eternal fleet ships were brutal and scarily efficient when focusing fire. The other ships of this blockade began to maneuver and fire back as their fighters screamed towards the fleet's defensive screens.
Any other fleet would have been hard pressed to focus against the larger ships and their fighter pilots would be panicking with the shear number of droid fighters. However, even being outdated by 3500 years the Aurek fighters and Sith fighters were all manned by hand picked pilots from a galaxy at war. That many of them, if not all of them were Force sensitive was even more telling as the Jedi and Sith wing commanders guided their squadrons in battlemelds nearly as efficient as the Gemini droid commanders. The battle ended after five minutes as the thirty of the fifty plus ships jumped to hyperspace leaving behind all their fighters that lost much of the ability to fight. Ten minutes later recovery craft launched and had some of the larger debris being pulled out of orbit of the planet most likely to enter the atmosphere. They could not prevent all of the debris from falling to the surface, but the more dangerous reactor core sections.
"Admiral we have contact with the surface."
"Main holodisplay." A long gray haired man balding with a pointed beard in a purple robe appeared in the middle of the table.
I am Governor Sio Bibble of the Naboo. I must thank you for removing the invaders to our planet. Your timely response turned off the Trade Federation's droid army."
"You are welcome. I am Admiral Bey'wan Aygo of the Alliance. We did not expect to interfere, but we saw that a ship belonging to your queen was being fired upon."
"The queen is she safe?" Aygo looked to his sensor tech.
"Sir, their ship jumped to hyperspace not soon after we opened fire."
"That is hopefully good news." Bibble looked from Aygo and then at several others before pausing to look at the Commander. Darra calmly smiled and gave a slight bow.
"You are a Jedi?"
"Yes among other things. I am the Alliance Commander, Battlemaster of the Jedi Order, Darra Suro." The governor looked shocked for a moment as he looked to the side. He could be seen talking with someone and then turned back looking as confused as before.
"Master Jedi, I was not informed that the Jedi Order, much less the Republic even had a fleet in existence capable of coming to our aid."
"Governor we did not arrive here to aid you. We were on a separate mission to free Sullust from their occupation of the remnants of the Eternal Empire." Aygo gave the information as the Force told Darra that something was not right. A tech was waving to them from the other side and she looked up at the status display as it flashed the date and time. Moments ago it was only showing one date and ship time. The new date was a contradiction and outright error if the Force had not been telling her it was true.
7945:4:14 was showing as the local date, were as the ship date was still reading as 4347:4:14. This was exactly two years shy of 3600 years different. The entire bridge crew was strangely silent as a long sorrowful whistle came from T7. Everyone on the bridge was hit with the realization that everyone they knew was dead. Long gone to the sands of time. Darra reeled as the Force finally hit her fully with this fact and then the Force itself was so much different. It cried and screamed or had fallen silent. Gone was the darkness of war, but also the general hope of recovery. This feeling in the Force was almost resigned and way out of balance. Darra feeling the loss but not yet the pain of such loss in her emotions as it had yet to sink in this was the truth. She sent back that she was listening and the familiar warmth she felt from the Force was barely there.
"Master Jedi are you okay?" She jerked her head back up to the holo of the governor as she realized she had gone to her knees. She came to her feet as she felt the news traveling through the fleet.
"I felt something in the Force. It is not your concern. My fleet will continue clean up operations and guard against a possible return of this Trade Federation."
"If you say so. I would be remiss if I did not invite you down to the palace to celebrate your victory and our liberation."
"Unless you have room for fifty thousand troops I will decline at this time."
"I hoped we could talk more privately? Plus we could use some help in cleaning up the droids that the Federation left behind."
"Certainly we will give you the codes for our recovery unit commanders. I am interested in how these droids tick."
"Admiral Aygo you can continue to wrap up the details of our orbit and coordinate any delegation to help in their recovery efforts and possibly resupply." Darra bowed as she saluted in Mandalorian style.
"Yes Commander." Darra did not stop until she was back in her quarters and on her meditation mat. It was only an hour before she felt a familiar presence at her door. Without a sign of movement Darra reached out and touched the door pad with the Force. Shae walks in burning in the Force with anger and confusion. This is covering the hurt she is feeling. It is a feeling that is going through the fleet and even through Darra even after some meditation.
"Su'cuy alor." Shae collapsed into the lounge and reached for the Tihaar that was on the table. She pored a glass and then pored another handing it to Darra. Darra took it and they silently drained the glasses.
"Mand'alor, how are your people taking the time change?"
"Waiting for you to confirm it. Are you?" She filled the glasses again before leaning back before taking a sip. Darra took a moment as she stared into her glass before sipping as well resisting the urge to drain the second glass. Tihaar was good in how it numbed you for several hours, but the hang over was hard to remove even with the Force the next day.
"I am not sure what I can say. I was so hoping to reconcile with Theron and to fix my relationship with Satele. Finish our fight with the Eternal Empire and face whatever Scourge and Kira were so worried about."
"We all feel that way, but the Sith are angry and the Jedi are meditating and the knights are sparring full contact. I have told my clans to hold fast and we will have a kote kyr'am for our lost later tonight."
"Good idea. Darra drained the glass anyway as she got up to go over to the personal holoterminal she had. A few buttons later the system beeped.
"Members of the Alliance we have found ourselves in the wrong system fighting a battle that was not ours to fight. This is also the wrong time as we seem to have moved 3600 years into the future. This is a bitter pill to swallow, but one that is possible to accept and perhaps over come. The galaxy has changed in this time and we will be hit with many more shocks. Know this that together we have forged our own path and stood against the odds to win in the face of defeat. This binds us together like no other family and we are a family that has fought and bled together. We have meditated and learned from each other. We have found we are far more than we knew were and will continue to be. I urge calm and understanding that we are in this together. To help those who ask for it and to give those that refuse their space. I urge those that follow the Force to meditate in your fashion to see where the Force has taken us and why." Darra paused feeling the emotions of everyone in the fleet roll and twist in the Force. Some already fully accepting of what happened others near panic wanting to rush back to their home worlds to confirm the truth.
"We have a mission and that is to guard this system. This mission will give us time to process our new reality. To focus on the here and now and to think ahead to what this will mean. It is not the time for rash decisions based on your assaulted emotions. Give yourself time to convert this into focus and clarity. With this said I will be opening up all our channels to the holonet for receiving only. This is your secondary mission to find out the history of the systems you came from and the current state of the galaxy. Together we may find a purpose or a mission to pursue. For now we are still in a state of combat. Act accordingly, talk the truth, search the truth, help each other. That is all for now."
Darra tapped the button as she felt the ship surge with hope and pride. They felt relief even with the confusion and finally curiosity as the holonet was opened up. Shae laughed loudly as she slammed her glass on the table.
"As always you have a knack for the unusual. Any other commander would have shut everything down hush hush for hours if not days."
"I have my moments, but the truth and the search for it will redirect their anger, loss, and denial. There is no bargaining, so acceptance will follow."
"And you have accepted this?"
"No, but the Force is telling the truth."
"What else is it telling you?"
"That it is dying." Shae turned white as she stared at the Jedi. She felt the truth to her core from just how Darra felt. Ka'ra this was bad and nothing had ever fazed Shae Vizla like this before.
