Amphibia: Calamity War

Chapter 18: The Hammer Bros.

The next day in the afternoon, Anne and Sprig are playing videogames in the living room while Polly is watching. They've already went to the next level by going through many levels in two players mode. Sprig was eager to play this game since Anne already taught him how to play games.

"Alright, level 10! We better not loose this time." said Sprig.

"Dude, don't worry about it and we'll beat it." said Anne.

"Last time it wasn't my fault." said Polly rhetorical.

"Whatever, but take it seriously."

Then it shows Anne and Sprig's characters wearing yellow and purple clothes with overall pants with mustache that resembles to Italian beating up some group of bad guys while push many buttons.

"Triple Thugs! Triple Thugs!" said Anne.

"Oh yeah! Chew on that, triple thugs!" Sprig taunted.

Then their characters has encountered with a giant turtle monster with spikes on its shell roaring at the characters.

"Oh no! Not this guy! We'll never beat this guy!" Sprig complained.

"Sprig, we gotta win this time. Come on!" said Anne.

Then they started beat up the turtle monster by pushing buttons repeatedly.

"Come on! Hit him!" Polly yells.

"I am hitting him, nothing's happening!" replied Sprig.

"Aw, dude! Try kicking him in the chest! Kick him in the chest! Kick him in the chest!" said Anne repeatedly.

"I am kicking him in the chest!" replied Sprig.

"Well, keep doing it!"

Finally, when the enemy's health bar was lowered, the giant turtle monster was knocked out. They have won the level. Anne, Sprig, and Polly were cheering.

"WOO-HOO!" "OH YEAH!"

"I told you we were gonna do it. I told you!" said Anne smiling.

"I knew we were gonna make it." replied Sprig.

"Yeah, right. That's not what Polly said 6 hours ago when she was whining about how hard the game was." Anne teased at Polly.

"Hey!" Polly whined.

Suddenly, they looked at the TV screen where it shows that their characters are at the final level. Meaning they're in the boss level.

"Look! We made it to the final game!" Sprig gasp.

"Dude, do you know what this means?" Anne asked.

"We're dead?" Sprig guessed.

"No. We have to beat The Hammer."

"What was the slogan of this game again, "Nobody Beats The Hammer"?" Polly asked.

"Yeah, right. More like nobody has even seen The Hammer." replied Anne.

"Well, get ready. He's probably gonna come out of those doors." said Sprig.

Once they're ready expecting to come out from the door, but suddenly, a villain burst through the wall with an appearance of a man that has blue skin with black mullet wearing white tank top shirt, blue pants, and black boots.

"Nobody beats The Hammer!"

"It's The Hammer!" Polly exclaimed.

They couldn't believe that they have never seen The Hammer before. Anne must've heard the game's villain before since she once saw people play games in the arcade. Clearly most players wins while others looses the game. Right now, Anne and Sprig has to defeat The Hammer.

"Hit him! Hit him!" said Sprig.

They push buttons by kicking or punching The Hammer, but it's not very effective.

"Man, our hits aren't doing anything!" Anne exclaimed.

"I know, my thumbs are killing me!" replied Sprig.

While nothing happened, The Hammer punches both characters. It take both of their lives with ease. They were shocked.

"What?! Just one of his hits takes a whole life!" Anne shocked.

The Hammer flings Anne's character onto Sprig's and and then lands on them. Both characters' second life is taken away at the same time. One more life gone, then game over for them.

"(gasp) Run away, dude! Run away!" Anne yells.

"Don't let him touch you, Anne!" Polly warns her.

"I'm not! I'm not!"

Their characters run away from The Hammer while he chases them in circles. But then, Anne was shockingly horrified that her character is at the corner surrounded by The Hammer.

"AH! SPRIG, HELP ME!"

"Not on my watch!" said Sprig.

His character grab the chair and smash The Hammer, but what they didn't expect is that The Hammer screams when his health is getting lowered a bit. Anne was surprised that she discovered that his weakness is the furniture.

"Sprig, his weakness is furniture! Hurry!"

Suddenly, the TV screen turned off by itself. They stop playing and looked stunned.

"What just happened?" Anne asked stunned.

"I don't know?" replied Sprig.

Polly tried to turn the TV back on by pressing on the remote, but nothing happened. Anne got off from the couch walked over to moves the TV onto the side, and then slams the back of it to make the picture appear for about a second, and then it flicks off again.

"(gasp) It's still on! Pause it! Pause it!" Anne ordered.

"It's paused!" Sprig paused the game.

"Aww, man! Come on! Come on!"

Anne slams the TV to get it back on, but it's no use.

"Polly, you finish him off."

"What?!" Polly shocked.

"Look, we figured out his weakness, I'll keep the TV on while you and Sprig beat The Hammer."

"Alright, let's do this!" said Polly.

"Ready...GO!"

Anne starts drumming onto TV to keep the picture on while Sprig and Polly attempts to fight off the Hammer, but it proves too much for them to beat the game when it starts flicking.

"EEEAAAARRRGH!... I can't do it!" Polly yells.

The game was paused and turns off by itself.

"Awww, man! We were totally gonna beat it." Anne complains.

"Yeah, I know. He's just too hard to beat alone." Sprig agrees.

"What's all the hustle, kids?" Hop Pop ask when he approached.

"We in the final level to beat The Hammer, but the TV screen was turned off by itself." Sprig answered.

"The Hammer?" Hop Pop asked.

"Yeah, I'm not talking about the tool hammer, but The Hammer as a videogame villain." Anne explained.

"Does it happen all the time?"

"No, just for once. I gotta go talk to mom and ask her about it."

"Or we could ask someone for help." Sprig suggested.

"That's a probably a good idea. Let's go call someone!" Polly agrees.

"Hold on! I can't contact to anyone. Remember what happen two days ago when robots tried to attack us?" Anne reminded her.

"Oh, I forgot."

"There's gotta be a way to buy a new TV." said Sprig.

"Or we could borrow it." Anne suggested. "I think I know a guy."

Anne looked over at the closet where it shows some pads that her friends have given it to her since yesterday.

Meanwhile at Mickey's house in Toontown, where Anne and the Plantars just came to visit by going through the closest when she explained everything to Mickey about the game. The Plantars also dressed up their disguises just in case.

"The Hammer? Nobody gets to The Hammer. But even if you did, I don't have a TV when my cables went down." said Mickey.

"Argh!" groaned Anne and the Plantars.

"What's wrong with your TV?" Mickey asked.

"I don't know? It's broken." replied Anne.

"Yeah, the screen doesn't work." Polly added.

"Come on. There's gotta be another way to burrow someone else's TV before my parents gets home from work."

"Hmm, maybe we should ask Goofy." Mickey suggested.

"Great! Do you know where he is?"

"Yep, I've been to his house like a dozens time."

"Yes!" Sprig cheered.

"What are we waiting for? Come on!" Polly anxious.

They all went through the front door and got into Mickey's car as he turned on the engine and droves off to Goofy's house.

It won't be long until they have finally arrives as Mickey parked his car. They all got out from his car and walk straight to the door. Mickey knocks the door until he hears Goofy from the inside.

"Who is it?" Goofy asked from behind the door.

"It's me, Mickey." replied Mickey.

"What can I do for you, Mick?"

"Can we borrow your TV?"

"Why?"

"Because... we're about to beat The Hammer." Anne answered.

"WHAT?!" Suddenly, the door swoops open by Donald right by Goofy since he visit to Goofy's house. "NOBODY can't beat The Hammer, It's impossible."

"Pft. Not for us. Are you gonna let us borrow your TV or not?" said Polly anxious.

"Yeah, you can borrow it, if you can tell me what The Hammer looks like." said Donald.

"He's blue with a black mullet." replied Anne.

"Prove it."

Anne pulls out her phone showing image of The Hammer from the internet that she's been searching through the web. Both Donald and Goofy were shocked.

"Golly!" Goofy shocked.

"So can we borrow it?" Polly asked.

"Sure, you can borrow it." Goofy answered.

"Really?!" Anne gasp.

"Yep, and it's right here!"

Goofy showed them his TV. Anne and the Plantars cheers as both Anne and Sprig give a high five. Goofy walked over to the second TV as he picked up and then he walk back to them.

"Ah hyuck, this is gonna be awesome!"

But suddenly, without knowing that it is still plugged in when he dropped the TV and shttered the screen by accident. They were staring at Goofy stunned while Goofy looked up at his friends.

"Does Pete have a TV?" Goofy asked.

Later on, they arrived at Pete's house. Anne and her friends walk towards to the front door allowing Mickey to knock on the door.

"Tell him we need it." Donald reminded Mickey.

"Shh!" Mickey shush Donald.

"Yeah, tell him we need to borrow his TV." Goofy added.

"Cut it out!"

Both Mickey and Donald wrestled a bit until Pete answers the door. He looked at them when Anne and her friends nervously smiling at his appearance.

"Oh, hey Pete." Mickey greeted him nervously.

"Tell him we need it." said Donald.

Anne facepalmed.

"What do you want?" Pete asked grouchy.

"Oh, uh, we were just in the neighborhood-" said Mickey, but his words cut off.

"Cut to the chase, I'm busy."

"Can we borrow your TV?"

"Hehe... No." Pete declined.

Pete was about to close the door, but blocked by Donald reaching his arms.

"No wait!" "Stop!" "Pete, please!"

"We're about to beat The Hammer. We need it!" said Sprig desperately.

"Yeah, The Hammer. When you say that, I think hammer and nails, but you couldn't possibly be talking about work." said Pete confused.

"It's a video game." Anne corrects him.

"Oh. right, right, it's a video game." Pete remembers now.

"Yeah, it's a video game."

"Yeah, so can we borrow your TV?" Sprig asked kindly.

"No." Pete rudely declined.

"Awww, come on, please..."

Pete ignored their plead as he closed the door. Anne and her friends groaned in disappointed. Sprig kicks the door angrily. Goofy noticed that he looked at TV through the window.

"Look! There's TV on Pete's TV."

Ann and her friends looked through the window inside of Pete's house without disturbing Pete watching TV. This just in the commercial is on.

"TV Store Warehouse! We've got TVs!

"Too many TVs! Take your pick! We're practically giving them away! No, wait! We're literally giving them away!"

"We're literally giving TVs away!"

"LITERALLY!"

"And the other TVs are really cheap!"

"Yeah, so those ones were practically literally giving away for free too!"

"LITERALLY!"

"You better be a truck with a big box in it, 'cause we're just throwing 'em away!"

"Yeah, TVs are trash to us, and so are you..."

"...AT THE TV STORE WAREHOUSE!"

"Does anybody know how far this place is from here?" Anne asked.

"Not far. I found a shortcut that lead us back to Los Angeles." replied Mickey.

"Let's do it."

Anne and her friends got into Mickey's car and drove away as they are heading straight to Los Angeles.

Meanwhile at the TV Store Warehouse that's located in this city as soon as Anne and her friends has arrived to get free TV. Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are dressing up their disguises just in case they won't get many people's attention.

"We want one of those flat screens from the commercial." said Hop Pop.

"The flat screens are full price." replied The teen employee.

"What?! But the commercial said you're giving away free TV." said Sprig.

"Come on, dude! You got to have something." said Anne anxious.

"Sorry, kid. There's nothing I can do." The teen employee apologize.

"Oh yeah. You know it's not worth it. These kids made it all the way to The Hammer and I wanna see them win!" said Donald.

"Whoa! Are you serious?!"

The teen moved his head to make sure no one was around.

"Alright, I might have something, but don't tell anyone."

They walked into the employees breakroom where it showsan old ordinary TV on the ground.

"What is that?" Sprig curious asked.

"It's a TV."

"Doesn't even turned on?" Anne asked.

"Yeah."

The teen turned on the TV, but the screen is in grayscale.

"What?! It's not even in color! Lame." Polly disapproved.

Anne and her friends were not satisfied with the model and they loudly complain. The teen employee doesn't have time to debate.

"Look, you guys wanted TV for free. This is your free TV."

They all looked him sternly.

"How much is cheap for the flat screen?" Anne asked.

"$1,200."

Later that evening at the sunset, they knew that they can't afford it, but they take the free TV with them back to Mickey's house and walk through the closet door that leads them back to the Boonchuys residence. They have entered the living room as Anne set the TV down on the floor.

"Make sure the game is still pause." said Sprig.

Anne walked over and slams onto their TV, revealing The Hammer. Mickey, Donald, and Goofy were shocked.

"Gwarsh! You really did get to The Hammer." Goofy shocked.

"Yeah, that's what we been saying that the whole time." said Polly.

"Now let's get this hooked up before Anne's parents are here." said Sprig.

"Guys, we've got a problem. This thing doesn't have the right hook-ups." said Anne noticed about the old TV.

"What? Well, what does it have?" Sprig asked.

"I don't know! It's like a weird...thing, but it doesn't match this other thing, plus, it doesn't even plug in. I mean, look at this!"

Anne shows her friends that there is a different type of cord. The Plantars were curious about the cord confused.

"What kind of plug is that?" Sprig asked.

"What's the point! There's no we you can beat this game." said Donald.

"He's right, kids. I hate to agree with Donald, but maybe we should turn this thing off." Hop Pop sadly agreed.

He was about to turn off the game system, but Anne intervene.

"No! We can't just give up. I wanna beat this thing. We may never get this far in the game again. Now, come on, will you please just help us? Please help us?" Anne pleaded her friends.

All of her friends felt empathy at her. Maybe if Anne is right, there's no time to debate. Sprig knew that he and Anne has been playing this game to get to the boss level. He's not gonna let Anne let down. He put his hand on his best friends shoulder. Anne looked at Sprig when he's smiling at her softly.

"Let us try, Anne." said Sprig softly.

Now, they have to work together in order to get things done. Anne and Goofy carefully remove the flat TV screen and set down on the floor and Mickey place the old TV on the TV stands.

Goofy walked through the closet door to his house to ripped the cord out from the broken TV he tossed out from the crate and walked back through the closet. Hop Pop found the speaker and set it up on the TV.

Donald cut the weird plug and connects the broken cord to the wireless that linked to the cord. Once they're done fixing it up, Sprig, Polly, and Hop Pop sat down on the couch while Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are standing. Anne was the last person to stand close to the TV.

"Keep your fingers crossed." said Anne.

She switches on the TV, and then it works despite being grayscale. Anne and her friends were happy as they cheered when their plan is work. Anne sat on the couch between Hop Pop and Sprig. They grab their controllers and give each other's glance as they smirks.

"Ready?" Anne asked.

"Ready." replied Sprig.

Anne press play as they game continues. Her friends are cheering while Mickey and Goofy are laughing with joy. But their victory cuts shortly when the power was out.

Cut to Thai Go, Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy are cleaning up the restaurant as they are about to close early for the night, but the power was out. A lot of people are shopping at the mall, but the power was out. Even Ned was watching his favorite sports on TV from his apartment, but it was the power was out. The entire city was turned off unexpectedly.

And then, the light glows blue at Anne's house. All of sudden, Anne and Sprig felt that the controllers was started to shake and let go of the controllers as pulls back making the TV, game system, controllers, and plugs came to life and formed a blue holographic body around it, creating a physical form in the real world for the Hammer.

"Whoa!" said Anne and her friends amazed.

"It's the Hammer! He's real!" Goofy astonished.

The Hammer opened his eyes and looks questionably at him. Goofy put his arm around the Hammer.

"Donald, take a picture with-"

The Hammer punches Goofy in the face as he fell to the ground.

"Oh, my aching head-"

The Hammer squashes him with his leg. He looked at Anne and the Plantars to get off the couch and ran off while Mickey jumps out of the way before The Hammer breaks the couch and coffee table in half, Donald remains nervously standing ready to face, but he gets knocked over easily to the side onto the ceiling.

"DONALD!" Mickey yells.

Donald shook his head to pull himself together. He looked at the Hammer and started to get mad when his face turns red. And then he shouts with a quack as he starts to attack the Hammer. Donald tries to punch the Hammer while Sprig jumps onto his back. The Hammer punched Donald again and hits on the ceiling.

Anne tries to punch the Hammer, but he roughly swung his arm at Anne as she hits the wall. Sprig struggles to hold on to his neck, but the Hammer walk backwards to squash Sprig against the wall and kicked the frog in his knee twice. He's jacking Mickey up in the face with a wood plank.

One by one they all try to combat him, but he proves to be too much of a challenge for them. He easily beats the group with a single punch, kick, squash, and then The Hammer creates a powerful ball of energy ready to aim it at them. Anne and her friends knew what's going to happen next.

"That doesn't look good." said Anne.

"What's he doing?" Sprig raise his voice panicking.

"Everybody get down!" Hop Pop yells.

They all proceed to take over cover and unexpectedly that the teen employee from the TV store enters the house as he walked through the door and enters the living room.

"Yo, duck man, my boss found out that I gave you guys that TV and he fired me. Is it cool if I crash here for a couple da...what the?"

The teen was stunned to see The Hammer in view as the videogame villain release his power. He horrifying gasps and then he is blasted away through through the window by the energy ball while screaming, and which lands on the other side of the neighbors kills him instantly by explosive.

"How are we supposed to hurt him?!" Hop Pop frantically ask.

" I don't know. He was invincible in the game too until we hit him with..." Anne paused for a second when she realized that his only weakness is the furniture. "(gasp) Furniture! Everybody quick! Grab whatever you can and smash it on him!"

Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and the Plantars nodded and quickly grab everything to smash him on it. As much as her parents warned her not to break some stuff, but they have no choice. Polly hit the Hammer first by breaking the vase, then Sprig hits him with the picture frame of Anne's drawing, then Hop Pop hits him with the telephone, and then Mickey hits him with the cook book.

Anne and Goofy went to the shelves of games and pushed down against the Hammer with some stuffs falling. Mickey and Donald ran over to the staircase and ripped it off. They slide at the Hammer to hit him hard. Anne and her friends grab as many furniture and items around the room to hit hard one by one. The Hammer looked up at Donald as he carries the book shelves hitting him hard three times. Soon, The Hammer starts to weaken after taking in so many hits.

"Guys, he's almost dead!" said Anne knewing that it's working.

"Quick! Find something else!" Mickey ordered.

They look around for an item to deliver the last blow but most of the furniture items have already been used when broken. Anne quickly realize when this is over, her parents will be really mad when they got home.

"There's no more furniture!"

Polly looks at the baseball that was laying at the corner. She rans over to the corner and grabs the baseball bat and tossed it over.

"Anne, catch!" Polly yells.

Anne caught the baseball and hits him really hard on his head. Suddenly, The Hammer starts to go glitch. They took noticed of him.

"The control pads! Grab the control pads!" Donald yells.

Anne dropped the baseball bat as she and Sprig take hold of his hands which are the control pads. Polly and Hop Pop grabs on his left leg while Mickey, Donald, and Goofy grabs on his right leg. The Hammer tries to break free, but he remains restrained and his face transits to the video game in color.

"(gasp) The game!" Anne and Sprig shocked.

"PLAY IT!" Polly shouted.

Anne and Sprig quickly press the buttons on the controllers to finish off the game, hitting The Hammer with chairs and gain an easy win with the words "YOU WIN" in the screen where he fainted. Then The Hammer disappeared and the old TV fell to the ground broken. Suddenly, the whole city was turned back on as the power came back.

They all looked at each other couldn't believe that they have finally beat the Hammer. They won. Anne and her friends starts to celebrate as they smiled and give each other a high five.

But then, their celebration was cut off when the door opens expected to see her parents.

But instead, it shows a man holding his TV with black hair wearing his glasses, his black and grey jacket, blue jeans, black shoes, and his red digital watch as he enters the door.

"Hey, guys. There was a blackout at my place, so I figured tha-"

He looked at the mess where Anne and her friends were staring at him awkwardly. He must've picked the wrong house and proceeds to turned around without saying another word as he leaves the house closing the door behind them. They took a glance at each other.

"Who's that?" Sprig asked.

"Oh, that must be one of my fan." replied Mickey. "But we gotta fix this mess up and fast."

"Right!" said Donald and Goofy.

Then all three of them starts to clean up so fast as they start to repair the staircase, put away some stuff on the bookshelves, set the flat TV screen back on the TV stand, repair the window, and fix the couch and the coffee table.

Once they're done, the whole house was now cleaned with sparkles all over the room. Anne and the Plantars were surprised that they clean up the whole house very quickly.

"Whoa!" amazed The Plantars.

"How did you do that?!" said Anne stunned.

"Ha ha, we're toons." Mickey answered. "It's what we do get this place cleans up."

"Oh! And more thing." said Goofy remind himself.

He picks up the old TV when went through the front door and tossed away into the black can. He comes back inside as he wiped his hands.

"There! All done." said Goofy.

"Great! Wanna go play a game again?" Polly asked.

"NO!" They shouted at Polly.

"Oh, sorry. I forgot." Polly apologizes.

"Well, the good news is that your parents won't know about this. Who needs to play that silly old game?" said Sprig.

"Yep. That thing has got to go." Anne agrees.

She tossed out the old game to the donation box. She took a glance at her friends and they all gave each other high fives when everything was paused like how all heroes celebrate with victory.

In case your wandering who this person is at the end of the chapter, it was me. I decided to made myself as cameo so that it would be funny if I did. Stay tune for the next chapter.
