I'm baaaaaack! Now let's get to it!
Chapter 3
"TWIN SISTER!?" Inuyasha exclaimed looking at the two young women.
"Yes, Kikyo... here is my half sister but also my twin. We were born of the blood of the same mother but we have different fathers" Kagome explained.
"Twelve years…. That's how long it took for The Sun Relic to finally be reunited with The Moon Relic…" Kikyo trailed off.
"You have The Moon Relic?" Inuyasha questioned.
Kikyo smirked. "Something like that, yes"
That was when the dog eared lord noticed the full moon necklace around Kikyo's neck that looked similar to Kagome's sun necklace. "Wait how did you two end up with The Celestial Relics?" he asked pointing at the two necklaces.
"You're as stupid as you are handsome half demon, I assumed you'd have figured it out by now but I suppose not" Kikyo sneered with a snicker.
"What are you talking about, figured out what?" Inuyasha asked, tightening his grip on tetsusaiga.
"The Sun and Moon Relics are not two objects, they are two people. I am Kikyo, The Moon Relic as well as the daughter of The Moon Spirit; Naraku" the evil miko sated with a wicked smile.
"What…. Then that means The Sun Relic is…." Inuyasha trailed off looking at Kagome, who nodded.
"Yes, it's me… I am Kagome, The Sun Relic as well as the daughter of The Sun spirit Haruto…" she stated.
Inuyasha stared at Kagome in complete shock.
"Sister Kagome, I believe we've had enough talk now don't you?" Kikyo questioned as she pulled out her large sword from the sheath on her back while Kagome's hand tightened around her bow and arrow.
"I'll make you pay Kikyo, you'll pay for killing our mother!" Kagome shouted as some of her spiritual powers went into her arrow and bow , outlining them with a golden light.
"Pity you won't be able too, since I shall extinguish your light first" Kikyo sneered calmly as dark blue energy outlined her sword.
"I will avenge you mother!" Kagome promised as she released her arrow on Kikyo's sword, which made its evil light disappear.
"Hm, you have very strong spiritual powers, just like our mother, however you forget I am also her daughter…" Kikyo trailed off as she summoned her dark miko powers around her sword once more and charged at Kagome… only to have Sango's Hiraikotsu nearly hit her if she had not jumped back at the very last second.
"Kagome, run!" Sango shouted as she caught her weapon as it flew back to her.
"Who are you?!" Miroku demanded, frowning at Kikyo with his staff in hand, ready to put up a fight.
"She's Kikyo, Kagome's evil twin. I've never seen her before today but I was told she killed her and Kagome's mother" Shippo said as he stood on the monk's shoulder with fear etched onto his face.
"Well, well, Sango I must say you've become quite the fighter. Though for a lowly human to battle me would be an embarrassment to the mighty moon… allow me to give you something more on your level for battle…" Kikyo trialed off as she pulled out a small piece of paper from her miko kimono and whispered a few words that made it fold up into a very realistic looking and large silver serpent with black phases of the moon on its forehead.
"Serpent of the moon attack her!" Kikyo demanded pointing to Sango, who positioned her hiraikotsu.
"KIRARA!" Sango called as the neko quickly grabbed Kagome and brought her over to the demon slayer. "Shippo stay with Kagome and keep her safe, me and Kirara will take care of Kikyo and her shikigami serpent" Sango said, making Kagome's eyes widen.
"What no! Kikyo is mine to fight, she killed our mother I-" Kagome started but Sango cut her off.
"I know what she did Kagome, but me and Kirara promised to protect you, so stand down and let us handle it!" the slayer pleaded as she got onto Kirara's back and flew towards The Moon Serpent who hissed and showed its teeth as it slithered towards Sango and Kirara.
"I'll take care of Kikyo" Miroku stated as he tried to run over to battle Kikyo but Kagome grabbed his shoulder to stop him.
"Don't, Kikyo will kill you in a matter of seconds she's very tricky…." Kagome trailed off as she then realized that something was off about this battle. Kikyo was doing nothing as the serpent and Sango and Kirara were charging at each other… "Kikyo hasn't used The Hurt Incantation and that could only mean…. Oh no….. SANGO, KIRARA STOP IT'S A TRAP!" Kagome then shouted at the top of her lungs.
"WHAT!?" Sango yelled in shock, but it was too late. The Moon Serpent had wrapped itself around her and Kirara when they were distracted for that moment and flicked the Hiraikotsu away. "KAGOME, LOOK OUT!" Sango screamed in terror when she saw Kikyo had used the shadows around the area to teleport behind Kagome…. But before the dark miko could strike her twin with her large sword… KAKLINK! Inuyasha blocked the attack with Tetsiaga before it could hurt Kagome.
"Damn you half demon!" Kikyo spat as their swords crossed.
Inuyasha then turned to look at the three behind him. "Miroku, Shippo, get Kagome out of here!"he demanded.
"At once!" Miroku replied as he and Shippo pulled Kagome away from Kikyo.
"You are a fool half breed, to protect your beloved Kagome instead of yourself, you know her mother did the same thing for her… and that lead to her death" Kikyo said cooly.
"You bitch, she was your mother too, why, why do you hate Kagome so much?! She's the kindest person who ever lived!" Inuyasha stated as he and Kikyo fenced.
The dark miko snickered at the statement. "The moon has and always will envy the sun, it is only in my nature that I wish for The Sun Relic's death" she stated simply as she blocked every single one of Inuyasha's attacks.
The dog-eared lord growled. "I won't and will never let you kill Kagome!" he shouted, which everyone heard.
Kagome blushed at his words as Miroku stood protectively in front of her with Shippo, while Sango and Kirara froze in The Moon Serpent's scaly flesh.
"He… really does love her…" the demon slayer thought to herself as she then was able to get her samurai sword from the sheath on her side and slice The Moon Serpent's head off, freeing herself and Kirara.
Kikyo frowned when she saw her shikigami turn back into paper. "Well if you want something done right you must do it yourself…" she trailed off as she used her sword to push Inuyasha away from her and then stabbed the ground making darkness surround the six friends.
"I can't see!" Sango's voice rang out.
"What's happened?!" Miroku exclaimed.
"Oh great!" Inuyasha shouted sarcasickly
"Sango, Kirara, Kagome!" Shippo called out trying to find his friends in the pitch black darkness. It was then that the group heard Kikyo's voice begin to chant;
"Shadows of the moon overflow, take my soul from me,
leave the realm of life and set the spirit free,
Wither and decay end this destiny,
Break these earthly chains and set the spirit free…
The spirit free!"
Kikyo's voice chanted, making Sango, Kirara, Shippo, Miroku, and Inuyasha cry out in pain. The shadows around the group then dissipated and Kagome (who was perfectly fine) saw all of her friends on the ground in pain with terrible wounds on their bodies. "No" she stated menacingly as her hands began to glow with a golden light;
"Flower of the Sun gleam and glow,
Let thy power shine, make the clock reverse and bring back what once was mine,
Heal what has been hurt, change the fates' design,
Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine…
What once was mine…"
Kagome chanted as her eyes glowed in a completely golden light that also outlined her body. Kagome's bright light healed her five friends, who all got up, but before they could do anything, Kagome ran up to Kikyo who had her sword in hand ready to fight, but as quick as a flash, The Sun miko slapped The Dark miko in the face, causing her to winch in pain for a moment while Kikyo cried out in pain covering up her face for a moment but when she removed her hand a very visible burn mark was able to be seen over her left eye.
"YOU LITTLE BITCH!" Kikyo shouted at Kagome as she grabbed her twins wrist, making them both scream in pain.
"Kagome!" Sango and Inuyasha yelled in alarm.
"LET GO!" Kagome cried out in pain.
"Not until you've paid for damaging my beautiful face!" Kikyo screamed when suddenly Miroku whacked her with his staff, making her release Kagome, who let out a cry of pain as she fell to her knees holding onto her wrist.
"Kagome are you okay?" asked Inuyasha as he knelt at The Sun miko's side.
"It aches so much…" was all Kagome was able to whimper as tears formed in her eyes. The sight of Kagome's yet to fall tears made Inuyasha tremble with rage, a rage that made him want to transform into a full demon and kill everything on sight, but instead he carefully took Kagome's wrist in his hand to examine the damage Kikyo had done, and what he saw shocked him, on Kagome's wrist a very thin layer of grey stone had formed on it in Kikyo's hand print.
"What, how-" Inuyasha started but then he took a breath. "Wait here" he growled as he tried to suppress his rage so as not to frighten Kagome more than she already was.
Kagome let out small gasp as she then sensed Inuyasha's full demon was trying to come out… but at the same time she could feel he was trying to keep it at bay as he approached Kikyo who was fighting Miroku with her sword while the monk himself fought with his staff.
"KAGOME!" Sango shouted as she ran over and hugged the miko tightly as she knelt down beside her. "Are you okay?" asked the demon slayer in a worried tone.
"Just a bit scarred but nothing I can't heal" Kagome replied in a shaky voice.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO KAGOME!" They all heard Inuyasha shout at Kikyo who was being cornered by the dog-eared lord, Miroku, Kirara, and Shippo who had his fox fire ready to put up a fight.
Kikyo frowned as she then held onto the hand she had used to grab Kagome in pain. "Damn, don't you go on thinking you've defeated me, I 'will' kill the precious Sun Relic, no matter what it takes!" Kikyo promised as she then ran into the direct moonlight that then lifted her up into the sky to the full moon.
Once Kikyo was gone the rest of the group gathered around Kagome in a concerned manner.
"Kagome are you okay?" Shippo questioned giving The Sun Miko a hug, who hugged the little fox back with her unharmed arm.
"I'm okay Shippo… for the most part…" Kagome trialed off showing everyone the arm Kikyo had touched, which still had a thin layer of greystone on the skin.
"I still can't believe it, you're The Sun Relic, and that ugly bitch Kikyo is The Moon Relic…" Inuyasha trialed off, making Shippo and Sango's eyes widen.
"YOU TOLD HIM!" they shouted at Kagome who bit her lip.
"Yes…" Kagome said in a small voice.
"It's not her fault, Kikyo told me and there was no way for Kagome to hide her secret anymore, and I was the one who made it so she was outside when night came. So if you're gonna be mad at someone be mad at me, but don't blame Kagome!" Inuyasha exclaimed, making everyone in the group turn to him in disbelief.
"Inuyasha…" Kagome trialed off in a small voice with blush crossing her cheeks.
Sango sighed. "If you two idiots don't keep any of this a secret then I will personally rip your heads off and give the rest of you to carnivorous plant demons!" the demon slayer warned, giving Inuyasha and Miroku a death glare, making both men flich.
"Calm yourself fair Sango, me and Inuyasha understand the seriousness of this situation completely and therefore, the secret of Kagome and her family being tied to The Celestial Relics will be a well kept secret with us" Miroku promised.
"Exactly, your secret's safe with us… under one condition.." Inuyasha trailed off.
"And what would that be?" Sango questioned her grip tightening on Hiraikotsu.
"You tell us the whole story about all of this, we risked our lives for you tonight, this is so we'll know what we're getting into" Inuyasah said as he crossed his arms.
Sango would have strangled the dog eared lord if Kagome hadn't grabbed her arm and pulled her back down beside her.
"Deal, I suppose you do deserve an explanation for helping us tonight" Kagome proclaimed as she then cleared her throat, ready to begin the tale of The Sun and Moon Relics… the real tale….
)())())())))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))
"It took place nearly twenty years ago, when Haruto The Sun Spirit and his brother, Naraku The Moon Spirit still walked the earth at their said times. One summer day Haruto came across a beautiful miko named Ami, who was picking herbs by her village. And when the two looked into eachothers eyes it was love at first sight… every day they would meet and spend time together, but Haruto was always careful to leave before sunset so his evil brother would not know of his miko love… However, The Moon Spirit did find out, two years after Ami and Haruto's very first meeting, Harotu lost track of time.. And night came, Naraku saw the couple and attacked them, attempting to kill them both. There was an intense battle between the brothers. Ami couldn't bear to see her beloved killed… so she proposed a deal to both of the spirits…. And that deal was that she would help both brothers gain an heir…. Naraku agreed to the deal and for the sake of Ami's life being spared, Haruto also agreed to the said deal.
In order to do this, both spirits need a drop of blood, a hair, and a fingernail from Ami and themselves, once they collected what they needed from Ami and themselves both spirits returned to their home's to get to work on each of their greatest creations… Haruto mixed his and Ami's essence that he had collected together and added some of the love they shared to the mix and hence The Sun Relic was born as Ami and Haruto's infant daughter… me, but at the same moment in which I was created, Naraku had finished his creation as well, 'his' and Ami's daughter was also created by Ami's essence as well as his own, but instead of adding love he added the hatred and envy he felt for his brother and his golden light, making his daughter not an innocent happy infant like me, but a full grown, spiteful and jealous woman… Kikyo.
The day me and Kikyo were created was right after a solar eclipse, after our father's told the people of the earth that they would no longer walk the earth for reasons even the mother of their children did not know, it was also then that me and my twin were announced to the word as The Sun and Moon Relics and then sent to our mother secretly that night, when Kikyo would not be in danger of being burned by the sun… she would have succeeded in killing mother and me like she and her father wanted, but mother was at the time a much stronger miko then Kikyo as was able to temporarily stop her after battling her throughout the whole night, for once the sun rose Kikyo would have no choice but to return to the moon.
Once day came my mother moved us far away to a miko retirement home where a few years later we met Sango, her father Kai, and Kirara who were from a long gone demon slayer village. After befriending my mother she told them everything about The Sun and Moon Relics and that if the Sun relic ever were to go out under the night sky The hateful Moon Relic and The evil Moon Spirit would be able to find us and do their worst. Kai told Ami that he and his little family would protect me and mother since we had given them a place to live… however this did not last long when I was six I broke the most important rule my mother had given me to follow, I went outside at night and later that night Kikyo launched a sneak attack on the miko retirement home and killed everyone there… including our mother who refused to tell Kikyo where I was…. Luckily Kai and Kirara were able to save me and Sango and brought us to a shrine deep within the forest we are in now, owned by an old miko and friend of my mother Keade, who was also the one who had trained my mother as a miko. From then on we stayed there. Sango and Kirara trained with Kai to become my bodyguards and I was trained by Keade to use my miko and sun powers…. And I never broke the rule of not going outside at night ever again…"
)(()(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
"My foolishness should've gotten me killed that night..." Kagome said sadly, finishing the tale.
Inuyasha was speechless. "I never would've guessed that a woman with such a happy and kind personality like Kagome would be carrying such a terrible past" he thought to himself as he stared at Kagome's sad face.
"I am truly sorry for you Kagome, but you mustn't wish yourself ill for past failures. All we can do is focus on the path before us so we do not stumble" Miroku replied wisly.
Sango looked at the monk. "Miroku… that was very kind of you to say" the slayer said softly, completely unaware of the fact that she had light blush forming upon her cheeks.
Miroku took notice of this and smiled back while taking her hands in his "In that case fair Sango… would you consider baring my children?" the monk asked innocently as his hands moved to the slayer's bottom….
Sango's blush deepened. "YOU LECHER!" she shrieked as she bonked Miroku on the head.
"So… I'm guessing that's a no…?" Miroku groaned weakly as he rubbed the large bump on his head, making Inuyasha realize something,
"Wait, that bump I got on my head from Sango back at the shrine… When I woke up it was completely gone… did you use your sun powers to heal me?" he asked Kagome, who nodded her head.
"Yes, I also healed Shippo three years ago after he stumbled upon the shrine and after some bandits killed his parents and injured him" , The Sun Miko stated.
"This is all crazy… but wait a minute, if you're The Sun Relic Kagome then what's that necklace supposed to be?" Inuyasha asked, pointing to Kagome's sun necklace around her neck.
Kagome took her sun necklace in her fingers and then looked back at Inuyasha. "This is 'The Sun Seed' I was told by my mother that it's purpose would be revealed to me when the time is right, it's the same with Kikyo's Moon Seed, which is her necklace. Neither of us can take these necklaces off. They are literally a part of us... Not even mother knew what their purpose was. Since she told me what Father chose to tell her" said The Sun Miko.
()()))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
Late that night Inuyasha woke up to hearing a familiar melody being played in the distance. Inuyasha looked around to see Shippo and Sango sleeping with Kirara who was asleep in her large form and Miroku was asleep against a nearby tree… But Kagome was nowhere to be found… The dog-eared lord then sniffed the air and followed the young Miko's scent to a cliff where he found Kagome sitting by its edge playing her mandolin. She was playing and humming the same melody Inuyasha heard her singing back at the shrine.
"I like your song." Inuyasha said softly as he sat beside Kagome who had stopped playing and humming all together. "That's the same song you were singing back at the shrine before we met, right?" asked the dog-eared lord.
"...yes. It was a lullaby my mother hummed to me as a small child. But I am the one who added the lyrics you heard back at the shrine." Kagome replied.
There was a moment of awkward silence before Inuyasha spoke once more. "I am sorry about what happened to your mother. It must have been hard for you." he said gently.
Kagome nodded. "Yes, it was. It was my fault she was killed. If only I hadn't been so foolish back then." Kagome said sadly, gripping onto her mandolin.
"You were a kid, you didn't know any better. I'm sure your mother would never regret protecting you. I know mine wouldn't regret something like that…" Inuyasha trailed off sadly, thinking of his sick mother.
"I'll save your mother Inuyasha, I promise. You risked your life for me tonight, it is the least I could do." Kagome promised.
Inuyasha gave her a rare genuine smile. "Thank you." he said.
"I envy you, you know," Kagome suddenly said.
"Why?" Inuyasha questioned.
"You're free. You can go anywhere you want and do whatever you want. While I can't even leave my shrine without having to pick a fight with Sango, Kirara, and Keade. I guess I should be lucky that she was away for that exorcism. Otherwise, I most likely wouldn't be here at this very moment" Kagome proclaimed.
"You've been locked away in that shrine basically your whole life, afraid to leave…" Inuyasha said.
Kagome nodded. "Yes, afraid that if I did leave someone else that I loved would die, I hate Kikyo for that reason.
Suddenly Inuyasha's ears perked up with an idea. "I'll help you destroy Kikyo and once she's gone and your mother is avenged you can live freely and happily…" Inuyasha promised.
Kagome turned to him. "You don't have to do that, this is my fight" the miko stated.
"Look you're risking your life to help me save my mother, I'm going to repay you by helping you avenge your mother's death and freeing you from Kikyo, I promise" the dog eared lord stated determinedly.
Kagome sighed. "I won't be able to change your mind will I?" she questioned.
"Nope!" Inuyasha replied with his head held high.
Kagome giggled, making Inuyasha blush. "Thank you, Inuyasha" she said softly as she then looked up at the stars with the dog eared lord in silence.
However little did the two know that they were being watched by a shadowy figure among the distant trees.
The figure watched Kagome and Inuyasha and let out a chuckle as something growled beside them. "She will be mine…"
CLIFFHANGER! I am so evil. See you in the next chapter!
