Apology. I've been so busy with work so there wasn't a chapter yesterday, I will be prewriting a few chapters for the coming weeks so I can get them out to you on time each day!
You wake up the next morning feeling a lot better after having some food and a long sleep. Bucky has not left your side all the time, he is currently asleep on the armchair next to the bed. You lean on your side and look over at him just as he wakes up. 'Hey doll, how are you feeling?' He leans over to take your hand before you pull him onto the bed with you. 'Whoa I will take that as you're feeling better then? Good, we were all worried about you. We haven't told Scott and Hope yet, we wanted to wait until you were ok.' He cuddles next to you in bed with your head resting on his chest and he kisses your head gently.
'Hey my love, I'm ok. Just needed some food and rest. It's my fault, I should have known better. I didn't eat anything before I went swimming, combined with me being pregnant with twins my body just told me nope. I will make sure I'm eating properly in the future don't worry James. We can use this time productively though. Let's narrow down some baby names, I know we decided on Alex Natasha but what about our other girl? I know Nat was joking about Roma but I kinda like it. What do you think? Roma Barnes? Just need a middle name for her.' You lift yourself up to look Bucky in the eye.
'Mia?' He looks nervous. 'I would appreciate it if we considered naming one of our daughters after my sister. Why not Alex Michelle and Rebecca Natasha? I miss her so bad and wish there was a way I could see her again but naming our daughter after her would make that easier I think.' He smiles down at you and kisses you softly.
'Oh, James I think that's a beautiful idea. That's that settled then, we have Alexandra Michelle and Rebecca Natasha Barnes. I love it. Now to decided which is which. Who is Alex and who is Rebecca? Or shall we decide that when they come out? I have no idea!' You both start laughing and you lie back down on Buckys chest.
'I think it's whoever is born first gets the first name in the alphabet, but we can do whatever we like, these are our girls. We're their parents, we get to name them and teach them and watch them grow. And I dunno about you but I am looking forward to teaching them to walk, and talk, and read. Everything I wish I could have done for my nieces and nephews.' He rests his head back and holds you a little bit tighter to him, causing you to rub his chest and hold his hand to stroke his thumb with yours. 'It's ok doll, just reminiscing. I think you would have liked my sister; she was very much like you. Just, you know, the 40's version.' You laugh and hold him tighter.
'Tell me about her. You never talk about your past, the Hydra stuff I get but what about your family?'
'Well, she was smart, funny, insanely kind and she had a dark sense of humour for a young woman in the 40s. She must have had kids, there was no way she wouldn't have had any. She would have been a great mother. She was beautiful, I'm saying this as her brother though, so I'm biased. She kinda looked like you. Hazel eyes, brown hair, taller than most girls. She wanted nothing more than to have a big family and care for them, like our parents. I'm the oldest of four kids, the only boy. Rebecca was the next oldest, she was 6 years younger than me. Our parents died when we were young, and Becca got sent away to boarding school and I didn't really see her much after that. I never even got to say goodbye before I went to fight in the war. Before the train.' His voice trails off and you sit up to look at him. You notice he has tears in his eyes and put your hand on his cheek and stroke his face gently.
'Oh James, its ok. She knew you loved her. She knew you missed her. I'm sure of it. What about the rest of your life before then? How did you meet Steve? You never told me the story.'
Bucky laughs at your attempt to make him smile. 'Well, I was walking down the street when I was maybe 13 or so and heard some noise coming from an alleyway. I went down there and saw him getting beaten up by two or three bullies, so I stepped in. I noticed how scrawny he was, and I knew I had to stop it. So, I punched the biggest guy, kicked his friend in the nuts and they ran away. Well, he ran, and his friend limped away. We've been friends ever since. He didn't like me so much after I enlisted, and he was rejected. Steve when I met him was very different to the Steve we know now. He was a scrawny, asthmatic, weak little kid so the army wouldn't even consider taking him. He was jealous of me, I guess. But then he became Captain America, and he was the badass. I had been taken with the 107th and he came to rescue us. I didn't know I'd been injected at that point.' He stops for a second to think. 'I just had a thought Mia. What if the serum is why we're having twins? I've got super strength and everything. Maybe it affected my swimmers too?' You both laugh and stroke you stomach. 'Either way, I'm not leaving you or our girls anytime soon. I love all three of you so much and I always will. I can't wait until the day I can call you Mrs Barnes. Hmm, I love the sound of that.' He smiles happily at you.
'I can't wait either James. As soon as these girls are born, we'll start planning. I would like it to be sometime in December, but we can talk about that later. For now, let's focus on our daughters and making sure everything is perfect for them. I'm 25 weeks, 15 weeks left. I've been feeling really good lately.' Bucky glares at you. 'Ok todays events aside. I meant HG wise. I know it could come back but I haven't thrown up in a few weeks and they've both been kicking up a storm in there.' You stop and put your hand on your stomach. 'They must have heard me, they're both kicking me right now.' Bucky puts his hand on your stomach to feel.
'Hey girls, Daddy loves you. Wow, one of them kicked my hand. I think. May have headbutted me, it felt large.' You both laugh and you lean over to kiss him gently. 'I know this isn't the first time I've felt them, but it never gets old. My girls love their Daddy, I can't get over the fact there's two lives inside your stomach right now. You are my miracle sweetheart. I never thought I'd ever have children and here we are having two! Thank you so much for that.'
'Oh James, it's exciting for me as well. I thought the same, because of what my ex did I didn't ever wanna get that close to someone, but I couldn't hold in my feelings for you. I love you James Buchanan Barnes.' You sit on top of him and lean forward to kiss him passionately, smiling as you pull away and sit back down on his legs.
