Sorry again for the huge gap between chapters, my life has been even more hectic than usual. I will be updating this story more regularly from now on as I have more time to write things now. At least once a week.
'Ok James what's wrong?' You ask as soon as you get upstairs. 'We were all having fun and then something changed, what's the matter my love? What aren't you telling me?'
Bucky looks at you with tears in his eyes. 'It's nothing, just the anniversary of my Mom dying is coming up and talking about my family brought that back. I just feel guilty for forgetting. I wish she were here and could meet you and our girls when they're born. It seems unfair that during this exciting time of our lives we don't have our parents or any family other than Scott around us to give us advice or help.' Bucky rests his hand on your stomach and puts his head on your shoulder.
'Oh, my love, don't you get it? We do have family around us. They're called The Avengers. Yes, Scott is my brother and one of the team, but we're not related to anybody else downstairs as far as we know. You and Steve are like brothers, but we don't have any other blood relatives.' You wrap your arm around him and hold him close. 'You wanna know something? It takes a lot more than blood to make somebody family. I mean, look at what Pete said to Tony at lunch. The reason he said he's been a father figure wasn't because of any relation. It was how much Tony helps the kid and encourages him to focus on his passions regardless of if he fails or not. Because Tony, for all his faults, genuinely cares about him and wants him to succeed. That's what family is. Family is acceptance, love, faith, basically everything we both have from the whole team. So yes, you are right we don't have any blood relatives around us but when you have a team like we have, who needs them?' You kiss Bucky on the top of the head and lie back onto the bed. 'If it'll make you feel better, tell me about your family. What were they like?'
Bucky takes a deep breath before speaking. 'Well, I don't remember much of my Mom, she died when I was 6, almost 100 years ago. I remember that she was beautiful. She had long, dark hair and blue eyes and I recall her always having a smile on her face. She had tuberculosis I was told. My father died not much more after that; I was 10. He was doing basic training at Camp Lehigh. They never told me exactly what happened to him. After Mom died, I think he found it so hard with the four of us, so I stepped up to help him, then when he died it was left to me. We had no other family. When I met Steve, it was like a Godsend. I had someone else my age to talk to, someone I didn't have to look after. Well, so I thought.' He chuckles at the thought of looking after Steve. Before he can open his mouth to speak again you are both interrupted by a loud smash from the nursery. 'What the heck was that?'
You both run across the hall, joined by the others that were in the compound at the time. You open the door to reveal Sharon standing in the middle of the room. 'Sharon what the fuck are you doing here? James, call the police.'
'Like Hell am I leaving you with her, not a chance!' Bucky moves in front of you to protect you. 'Someone else can call the police. Sharon, what's going on? Why are you here? I thought we made it clear that you were never to show your face here again.' She pulls out a gun and points it at you, causing everyone to jump in front of you and Wanda's eyes start to glow bright red.
'Oh, come on, like you don't know. Those babies are is supposed to be mine! I am supposed to be the one for Bucky. We were destined to be together.' She moves closer to you, tears in her eyes. 'Don't look at me like that, I'm not crazy.'
'You're right Sharon, you're not crazy. You're insane! What makes you think these babies are supposed to be yours? There are many things that would make that difficult, the fact that I'm the one that's pregnant for one. Not to mention that there is no way Bucky would ever love you, especially since he met me a long time before you.' You push your way past everybody in front of you to stand right in front of her and grab her wrist to get the gun away from her. 'You need help lady, real psychiatric help. You are not getting my babies and you are not getting my fiancé. Steve have we got an ETA on the police?' You ask without taking your eyes off Sharon.
'They'll be as quick as they can, could be up to 15 minutes.' Steve replies while walking closer to you both slowly. 'Sharon, I know you're hurting but what would Peggy think right now? You standing here, pointing a gun at a pregnant lady because she has something you want? I know she wouldn't want this. She would want us to help you. Please just put down the gun.' He says as he reaches over slowly. 'You don't wanna do this. We can help you.'
'No, you can't help me Steve. Nobody can help me.' She moves the gun to her own temple. 'Nobody wants me, I'm all alone.' She squeezes her finger over the trigger just as the police run in, grabbing her hand and pulling the gun away before handcuffing her and pulling her away.
'Is everybody ok? Ma'am, did she hurt you?' The officer asks you gently while Bucky sits you down and Wanda goes to get you a glass of water.
'I'm fine, just a little shaken up. She's crazy but I never thought she would stoop that low. Thanks Wanda.' You take the glass Wanda offers you and gulp it down quickly. 'She's a relative of an old friend of Steve's and she gained this weird attachment to my fiancé, tried to say I was lying about my pregnancy and how sick I've been to try and split us up, that kinda thing. She was taken by you guys a little while ago but she escaped I guess. I'll sleep better knowing she's gone. Thank you.' You smile up at the officer and grab onto Bucky to help you up. 'Speaking of sleep, I think I need to. Please excuse me.' You shake hands with the officer and make your way across the hall to your bedroom.
