Author's Note: And here's stage one! I had to change a bit the location of the encounter with Rumia, since the Youkai Mountain is a bit far away from the Forest of Magic, (where Reimu/Marisa fought the Rumia most likely.) so, Sanae encounters her in the Great Youkai Forest (pretty much place where you fight Hina in MoF.) I also mixed the dialogue between them with Marisa and Reimu scenario dialogue, while mixing it with a bit of my own. Without further ado, please enjoy the chapter.

Sanae was flying towards Misty Lake.

After she prepared herself for the trip, Lady Kanako filled her on the information about the mist.

According to tengu patrols, the biggest concentration of the mist was near the Misty Lake, so that's her best clue to investigate. The wind goddess also told her that near Misty Lake was a mysterious mansion that nobody really knew who lived there. It also would be a good place to investigate, if the lake investigation doesn't reveal anything useful to her.

The mist was very dangerous to regular humans, but thankfully Sanae wasn't really "regular human," so she could spend more time in the mist without feeling the effects, however, she wasn't immune to it, so she had to hurry too.

As she was near the Great Youkai Forest, she got suddenly attacked by swarm of fairies, she was surprised at the sudden attack, but she managed to dodge everything and exterminate the attackers.

It was strange for her that fairies would attack random humans, usually they were less aggressive and would most likely play pranks on them, than outright attack them. It appears that the red mist had the side effect of irritating them.

As she was flying through the forest, she got attacked by more fairies, but once again they weren't much of a challenge for her.

When she was close to the exit of the forest, she stumbled across a small youkai girl.

She had red eyes and short blonde hair. She was wearing a black vest and skirt, and white blouse with a red tie bordered by two large red beads around her neck. Furthermore, she also had small red ofuda tied to the left side of her hair, strangely looking like a ribbon.

She was also strangely doing a pose resembling letter T.

-Oh, a human, it's rare to see you in the youkai forest. Are you some kind of suicidal type?

-No, I'm just passing through, so could you please move out of the way? By the way, why are you doing a pose that symbolizes asserting dominance?

The girl had a confused look on her face.

-Asserting dominance? Doesn't it look more like "the saint was crucified on the cross?"

-Youkai know Christianity? I don't believe in that religion. So I can't really answer you there.

-Is the human in front of me the edible kind?

-Is the youkai in front of me the exterminable kind?

The youkai girl was once again confused.

-Exterminable? Wait, are you the shrine maiden?

-Um, isn't that obvious by my appearance?

-It's hard to see with this mist, and I only know one shrine maiden here, and you don't look like her.

-That's because I'm a new one, I just arrived here not long ago.

The girl had a bewildered look on her face.

-Whaaaat? Now there's two of you? It was hard enough with one of you and now when there's a second one, I might as well just bury myself here.

-Errm, you know, we don't really exterminate youkai that behave themselves. As long as you follow the rules, you're free to do anything you like.

-Is that so~, then as long as, I don't cause trouble, I can eat as many humans as I want?

-That's not how it works like.

But she didn't listen and declared her spell card Darkness Sign "Demarcation", she fired a bunch of bullets that were spread in a weaving circle that limited mobility, while she kept shooting bullets that were aimed at the priestess.

Sanae managed to dodge everything until the time of spell card ran out.

-Your danmaku was gorgeous! It's my time to show off now!

The wind priestess declared her spell card Esoterica "Gray Thaumaturgy"

She surrounded herself in bullets that formed a star shape. These bullets then started scattering bullets everywhere.

The youkai girl was extremely surprised at the amount of the danmaku that she immediately got pelleted by the bullets, not having chance to even dodge.

She fell from the sky and landed on the ground.

Sanae then dissolved her danmaku and asked the youkai if she's okay. She used one of her weakest spell card, and it was still too much for the youkai.

-Um, are you fine down there?

-I-I'm o-okay.

The pained voice answered her.

-I'm sorry for going overboard! Visit Moriya Shrine someday, and I'll prepare some food for you as recompensation!

Sanae quickly apologized to the youkai and returned to flying towards the Misty Lake, she already wasted a bit of time by fighting the youkai girl, and she couldn't really chit-chat knowing the effects of the mist.

-I don't even k-know where that is...

Youkai quietly muttered to herself, unaware that the wind priestess isn't there anymore.
