Author's Note: It's been almost month, since I posted the final chapter to this story, I checked reviews and well... According to site stats there has been around 200+ visitors to this story and only one person really shown any interest in seeing the sequel, so I guess I will pass on writing it. So you might ask, why I'm writing the Extra Stage, if that also was supposed to be only an "extra" if people shown interest in it? I'm really proud of this story, even though it does have its shortcomings, I feel that this story was one of my better ones. That's why it just didn't feel right for me to leave it "half-finished." Anyway this is part one of two. I will most likely write part two in week or so if everything goes good. I might return back to writing the sequels if there will be more interest in this story. That's all for my ramblings, thank you for listening, so please enjoy the chapter!
-That's the gist of it.
Kanako nodded.
-I see, however, I don't really see how does that concern us exactly.
-I will donate a generous amount of money to the shrine, if you will help me.
The wind goddess perked up at mention of money.
-A generous amount, you say... I suppose sending Sanae to check things out wouldn't hurt.
Suwako dropped from the top of the shrine gate and approached Remilia and Kanako.
-I'll go with her. There's no telling what's going on there, so Sanae could use some backup.
Kanako nodded.
-That's fine with me. I actually feel relieved that you will accompany her. Sanae is strong, but she's still too inexperienced, so having somebody protecting her blind spots will be invaluable for her.
-No need to worry! I won't let anybody harm even a hair on her head. I'll let her know, then we will be setting off to the mansion after we prepare.
Some time later, near Misty Lake.
Sanae and Suwako were flying over the lake.
As she was preparing the dinner back at the shrine, the earth goddess suddenly approached her with another incident.
It appears that there was something happening back at the mansion, but she didn't really tell her details, so the wind priestess was a bit confused.
-Umm, Lady Suwako? I get that there's something bad going on in the mansion, but what exactly?
-Oh right, I have completely forgotten to explain the whole thing. Also, jeez, stop with the "lady." You're like a daughter to me, Sanae, so I would prefer you calling me "mother" instead!
The wind priestess blushed.
-Umm, I think I'll stick to just calling you Suwako then.
The earth goddess laughed.
-I'm just teasing you, Sanae. Anyway, here's what we know so far from your vampire friend.
Suwako explained to the wind priestess the whole situation.
As Remilia was returning from her daily walk, she was surprised to see that in the whole area around the mansion was a heavy rainstorm. Of course because of her being a vampire, she couldn't check what's going on there, so she decided to come to Moriya Shrine for help.
Sanae held her chin in thought.
-There's not much information to go from, then. I hope that everybody at the mansion is okay...
-Don't worry, I'm sure they are fine. They didn't seem like weak people, so they most likely can hold their own.
Sanae nodded.
-I hope that you're right, Suwako.
After a bit of flying, they finally arrived near the mansion.
Remilia wasn't lying, there really was a heavy rainstorm around the mansion.
-How we are going to get through this rainstorm without getting all wet?
Suwako chuckled.
-That's nothing. Come here, Sanae, and clutch my hand.
The wind priestess did so.
The earth goddess concentrated for a moment, and soon they were engulfed in a bubble.
They flied safely through the rainstorm without getting any drop of rain on them.
They landed near the entrance to the mansion and the earth goddess dispelled the bubble.
Suwako winked at Sanae.
-See? All dry.
The wind priestess smiled and clapped her hands.
-Good work, Suwako!
The earth goddess chuckled.
-Shall we get inside then?
Sanae nodded.
They both entered the mansion.
And they were met with a shocking sight.
The mansion was in complete disarray, the maid fairies were running in terror around the interior, the furniture was all over the place, vases broken down, tables turned over, art lying on the ground.
-This is horrible! What could have happened here?
Suwako had a grim look on her face.
-That's a good question. We should look for your friends first.
However, as soon as they took a few steps, they were suddenly attacked by the fairies.
They both managed to dodge their attacks and strike back.
-Why are they attacking us!? They should know that I'm not the enemy, I visited the mansion few times!
-They are not thinking straight, Sanae! Something must have spooked them really hard. Fairies are just simple-minded like that! We will just have to push through them!
The wind priestess quickly nodded.
They continued pushing through the mansion while fighting groups of fairy maids.
However, suddenly a voice stopped the fairies.
-Cease this nonsense at once!
The fairies immediately stopped their attack after this order and retreated.
The duo looked in the direction of the voice and saw Sakuya and Patchouli walking towards them.
-Miss Sanae and Miss Moriya? I'm afraid you have chosen a terrible time to visit. The mansion is in a bit of crisis as you can see. I apologize for fairies attacking you, they have been ordered to attack any outsiders inside the mansion.
The maid bowed.
Suwako tipped her hat.
-We aren't here for the visit. We have been sent here by your mistress in order to help. What's going on here?
Sakuya was confused for a moment.
-You have been sent by Lady Remilia? Right, she can't return back to mansion with this rainstorm outside. I appreciate your help, I will fill you on the situation.
The maid explained that the younger sister of her mistress has escaped from her room in the basement.
-Escaped? How so? Isn't she free to roam the mansion?
Sakuya shook her head.
-You see, the young mistress is unlike other people. She's extremely unstable in terms of her personality, this combined with her destructive power, she absolutely cannot be allowed to go outside.
Patchouli elaborated.
-She has a seal on her room that stops her from leaving her room. The thing being, the seal started weakening since few days ago, and unfortunately, I have noticed it only after it was too late. As countermeasure, I have conjured a rainstorm outside the mansion, so she can't leave. Sakuya and I are trying to force her back to her room, so I can recreate the seal.
Suwako wanted to say something, however she was interrupted by another voice.
-How generous of you, you brought another pair of play toys for me. Hope that these are more resilient than previous ones, they "broke" really easily back then.
They all looked in the direction of the voice.
There was a little girl standing there.
She had red eyes and short blond hair, which was tied into a single ponytail on her left side. She was wearing a red dress and vest, with a pink shirt underneath. She also had a pink mob cap with a red ribbon attached. She was carrying some kind of strange wand in her right hand. Furthermore, she had strange wings which had colorful crystals attached to them.
Sakuya took a step forward towards the girl.
-Lady Flandre, with all due respect, I'm not going to repeat again, return back to your room peacefully.
She then pointed the knife at her, the color of her eyes flashing red.
-Or I will be bringing you there forcefully!
The girl just laughed cheerily at the threat.
-You want to fight me? Ahahahaha! How interesting! I have always wanted to duel with you. After all, sister spoke highly about your prowess. So shall we put it to the test?
The magician stopped the maid.
-Settle down, Sakuya! We don't want any bloodshed here.
The maid put down her knife, her eyes color changing back to normal.
-My apologies, Lady Patchouli. It seems, I have lost my temper there.
She nodded understandingly, she then looked at Suwako and Sanae.
-You two. Distract her for some time while me and Sakuya will devise a plan to pacify her, and don't fight her, it's useless. Good luck.
They both nodded.
She then turned to the maid.
-Let's go, Sakuya.
She bowed.
-As you wish, Lady Patchouli.
They both flied away.
Flandre started booing at them.
-Booooo! Cowards! What a shame, I was actually looking forward to fighting her.
She then turned towards the wind priestess and earth goddess.
-Well then, since I can't leave the mansion, then you will do as my entertainment.
She flied up.
-My sister told me about this interesting concept called "spell card rules," usually I just use my full power, however, I prepared my own spell cards, so I can check for myself if it will be fun playing around like this, so don't "break" too easily 'kay?
They flied up too.
Sanae turned her head towards the earth goddess.
-Suwako, what did she mean by not fighting her? How can we beat her, if we can't fight back?
-Just focus on dodging, they seem to know what they are doing, so let's put our trust in them.
Flandre raised her spell card in air.
-Let the games begin!
