I would have had this be part of a normal chapter but I forgot to tell everyone the voting is now down to TWO life and TWO death votes so I made this little chapter to get votes in before I go forward with another chapter where someone might die.
SKADA SOCKET- Lester Browning
Somehow I'd always thought Skada would die before her time. Even before the Games I knew she was playing with fire with her underground activities. I used to ask her why she kept trying when it was so risky and her activities brought so little fruit. She always said it was something she couldn't explain until I understood it on my own. I think I understood it the moment she died. The moment I knew this was something worth dying for to her, I understood why she was willing to.
CHRISTOBAL CHANEL- Alice Mason
People liked to remember people who had died. I didn't really get it. Once someone was dead, they were gone. Digging up their memories was just a waste of time. Living people and dead people aren't in the same world and that's how it will always be.
TILLO PETERS- District Eight mentor
I always acted like I was happy to be done with my Tributes when they died. I would never let anyone know that I wasn't happy, I was just relieved. I was relieved that I had a year to put them behind me and prepare for the next two.
District Eight
Christobal's mother didn't attend his burial. She wasn't ready to leave her house and she preferred a private memorial after the crowds had gone. But for the first one, the one she wasn't at, she allowed music. The rest of us stay away from his grave because one day she'll be ready and on that day she'll sit by it strumming a guitar. It didn't take long for the circus to find another magician. It took a lot longer for the circus to forget Elle. After all, the circus had elephants.
Meenah Turbine- District Five mentor
Some Games just have a mind of their own. By rights Richard should have been the last of the circus kids- Irina was a target and the rest were unskilled physically. And by rights Skada should have died in the Bloodbath, what with the rumors I'd heard about her. I had the feeling some Gamemaker got into some hot water over that one.
District Five
It's not often a funeral has clowns but it was what Richard would have wanted. Clowns, candy, elephants- the greatest funeral on Earth. Skada's parents never had a funeral, because her body was never delivered. Her parents found that the most complicated mourning is one without closure.
