Do You Want to Fix a Broken Heart?

Summary: On the night of what would have been the accident, Anna's kidnapped and Elsa's scarred. Though Anna's found a year later, a year changes people and not for the better.

Chapter One

"Let the little girl rest. It's the spare we're after."

Elsa groggily awoke to voices. Unfamiliar ones as she sat up and rubbed her eyes. What was going on? Who was there?

"Who are you?" Elsa yawned.

"That's none of your concern sweetheart. Go back to sleep," One of the voices muttered. Elsa wasn't sure who stroked her bangs but flinched at the touch. "Go on."

The eight year old shook her head. Whoever the people were, she didn't know them and Anna equaled spare so if they wanted her little sister, they would have to go through her first.

With anger and protectiveness in her veins, Elsa raised a hand, shooting out ice in an attempt to stop the one after her sleeping sister.

It missed, hitting the wall instead

But before Elsa could do anything else, she felt something hit her, blacking out in the process.

In the morning she awoke, rubbing her eyes as she stood up, walking over to Anna's side of the room. Last night had to be a dream.

It just had to.

Until she looked up, remembering the ice shards she'd thrown in an attempt to stop the people who were going to take Anna.

Elsa felt her bottom lip tremble, trying to console herself. Maybe Anna had woken up early again with her idea of the sky being awake so she had to be awake.

Before remembering the people with one of them tying Anna up.

"Mama! Papa!" Elsa cried.

An hour.

An hour since she discovered Anna missing and Elsa was trying to process the word kidnapped.

Why her sister? Why Anna? Why while they were sleeping? Why away from the presence of Arendelle's guards?

"I'm sorry. I tried my best. I really did!" Elsa cried, burying her head in her mother's chest.

"We know Little Snow. It's okay," Iduna shushed, stroking her hair. She looked up, seeing Kai. "Does the captain of the guards have any idea where they went?"

Kai shook his head. "Alas they have no idea your majesty." He turned to Elsa, noticing the slight frost forming on her fingertips. "Don't worry, Anna will be found."

Elsa nodded, holding back tears. She wanted to believe him, wishing that were to be true.

If only she had been stronger or distracted her sister's kidnappers long enough to where Anna would be okay and instead playing with her, not alone and possibly scared.

Elsa couldn't imagine being alone and without protection. Sure she would have her powers if she was in Anna's situation but her sister?

Anna had nothing except for her feistiness.

Elsa wasn't sure if it would help but she prayed that it would.

"Papa, what are we going to do?" She found herself asking once Kai had left.

"We'll just have to wait Elsa. Wait until Anna's found. But don't worry, we'll be reunited with her again," Angarr assured, squeezing her hand.

Elsa smiled a little. Her father hadn't been wrong about anything in her entire life, hoping he'd be right about them being reunited with Anna.

The only question plaguing the family's mind while Elsa went to her lessons and Iduna and Angarr discussed royal affairs was of Anna and her whereabouts.

Demanding to be let go because of your title had a consequence.

Anna had learned that the hard way, rubbing her sore bottom.

She couldn't recall much from the previous night except for one thing.

"Anna!"

She never heard Elsa growl before. Elsa and anger was something that she rarely witnessed with her own eyes.

Her big sister's look of shock was her last image before waking up blurry and still restrained with rope.

Until she had spoken out of turn, forced to lay on one of her adductors laps as tears went down her cheeks.

Anna had tried not to show cowardice but the pain became unbearable. She never felt such pain before and Elsa wasn't there to use her magic to lessen it.

At least she didn't have to sit anytime soon, wiping away her remaining tears.

She would just have to be brave like the Arendelle guards or the knights in the fairytales Elsa would read to her.

Just until she could find a way to get home.

They feared it would happen to Elsa.

Elsa was the heir, making her an easy target.

They feared it happening to Anna as well except it did and the castle halls were quieter because of it.

It broke Agnarr and Iduna's hearts to see their eldest daughter somber, locking herself in the library after dinner until bedtime.

Too afraid to step back into the room she shared with Anna, Elsa had gathered up her belongings and moved into another room of the castle.

Hanna's beaded eyes and stitched smile gave her some comfort as she hugged the doll close to her. Tears ran down one of the doll's red braids as Elsa choked back a sob.

Hildy, the doll that looked like her, was waiting for Anna back in their room where the ice shard still stood or at least Elsa thought it did.

"I'm sorry Anna," Elsa sniffed. "Please forgive me. I didn't mean for this to happen."

"We know you didn't Little Snow," Iduna shushed, taking her daughter in her arms. "Anna knows you didn't either."

"Anna was asleep Mama! She couldn't protect herself."

"I know Little Snow but when all is lost then all is found."

"Like the lullaby you sung to us?" Elsa grinned.

Iduna nodded, taking her in her arms. "Anna's lost now but one day she'll be found. Until then, we'll have to wait until we get word of her return."

Elsa nodded, giggling at Iduna's touch. While her mother's words of reassurance didn't make her feel any better, it made her heart ache less.

Anna couldn't sleep.

She missed Elsa and their parents. She never felt so alone before now.

Mr. Herni and Miss Céline had ordered her to go to sleep about an hour ago and she didn't want them mad seeing her not asleep.

Especially Mr. Herni. Anna was petrified of him.

She sighed, looking up at the night sky while stroking her nose in the hopes it would get her to sleep.

It worked until she realized something.

She and Elsa didn't make a big snowman later after all.

No snowman and no Elsa.

Anna bit her lip to keep herself from crying, Mr. Herni didn't like that, as she eventually fell asleep alone with no comfort in sight.
