One month later.
"Kei! Hey, wait up," Kato called as he and Kishimoto spotted Kurono on the train.
Kurono turned to greet his friends. "Kato? Since when did you get this train?"
Kato smiled. "Since Kishimoto helped me raise my grades to transfer to a better school." Kato grinned. "Which means you and I get to go to school together again."
Kurono gasped with excitement. "What, no way! That's awesome!" Kurono then winked at Kishimoto. "Nice uniform, and you're hair's long." Knowing she had a double still living her life, Kishimoto made some minor changes to her appearance. She had allowed her hair to grow out and wore a different coloured uniform, and when she registered at her school once more, she did so under a different name; Sakura Kato. She hoped to pass as someone different, someone who merely just looked like her double and hoped no one questioned her too much.
Kishimoto huffed. "Kurono, once a perv, always a perv."
Kurono held his hands up in surrender. "I was just saying."
The three stepped off the train and exited the station, only to run into another familiar face a few blocks down. Kurono held his hand up and shouted, "Nishi!"
Nishi looked up from his phone and groaned when he spotted the three jogging to catch up; a part of him slightly hoped he'd never have to socialize with them again, but as much as he didn't like to admit it, they were his friends... apparently. When he got home, his mother had rang up his school to discuss his options should he want to continue, and they allowed him to use the results he'd gained before he disappeared, and Nishi was put forward for one of the elite high schools due to his grades. Nothing was mentioned about the attack on his classroom, and his mother never brought it up either. The two never heard from Eiichiro, and even though Nishi thought he was a coward for running off, it was the only decent thing he'd done for them.
Nishi wore dark grey pants and a white short-sleeve shirt, accompanied by a black tie, and carried his blazer over his shoulder since the weather was warm. "Goddammit," he muttered under his breath before facing them.
Kishimoto caught sight of the symbol on Nishi's blazer's arm. "Hey, that's my school's logo. You're starting at my school?"
Nishi shrugged. "Don't sound so surprised."
Kishimoto was happy to have someone she knew at her school since she barely had time for friends before, even if that person was Nishi.
With reluctance from Nishi, the group of four walked on together until they had to part ways.
"So how's everyone been since - you know," Kurono said, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"It was weird at first," Kato began to explain. "I kept waking up thinking I'm gonna be transferred or something."
Kishimoto nodded. "Yeah, same here."
Nishi clicked his tongue and couldn't help but join in on the conversation. "How awful for you," he said sardonically. "I woke up to my mother playing the radio, only to suddenly hear that damn Gantz song." Nishi shrugged slightly. "I might have freaked out a little and threw the radio out the window and now she thinks I need therapy."
Kurono couldn't help but chuckle. "Did she actually say that?"
Nishi frowned. "No, but I could tell by the look on her face that's what she was thinking." Nishi sighed; he hadn't meant to throw the radio out the window, but the song was unexpected. Nishi suddenly realized that his wallet was still on his nightstand. "Shit."
Kishimoto turned her head. "What's wrong?"
Nishi huffed. "I forgot my wallet."
Kurono chuckled. "That sucks. Meanwhile, I am having a great day, I met back up with Sei a month ago, and we're dating again."
Kishimoto smiled. "That's great. Congratulations."
Nishi somewhat pouted at Kurono's lack of empathy and eagerness to rub his joy in. "I hate you."
Kato fished through his bag and pulled out his wallet, taking out a few notes. "Here Nishi, I've got some money you can borrow."
Nishi turned and narrowed his eyes; what the hell was he, a charity case? "No way."
Kato blinked. "Come on, I wanna help."
"Not a chance."
Kato held the money out. "Take it, we're friends aren't we?"
Nishi moved away. "What the hell made you think that? I hate you."
Kato continued to insist. "Just take it already."
"Piss off." Nishi began to walk ahead faster, but Kato followed.
"Take it."
Nishi turned and saw Kato behind him. "You're pissing me off."
"I don't need it, so take it."
Nishi batted Kato's hand away when the older teen waved it in front of him. "I will seriously kill you."
Kato began to jog when Nishi started to and couldn't help but laugh. "Take it!"
Nishi scowled. "No, fuck off!" Eventually, Nishi took to running off, and Kato chased after him.
Kurono and Kishimoto looked at each other and burst into laughter.
'It's the beginning of a brand-new day.'
'A day filled with hope.'
'So open your heart up and just be happy.'
'As you look up at the big blue sky.'
