The air was thin so high up, perfect conditions for Cybertronians to fly. What was most special about it was that it was also perfect for showing off to impress a mate.
Jetfire did a loop in his alt mode before landing on a skyscraper spire. Behind him, Windblade flew up and landed beside him shaking her wings and spreading them upwards to stretch them. He had been surprised to see Windblade answer his call and come fly with him. Had he known she was more than willing to be wooed, he would have perhaps favored Hyrdax Falls as a more romantic setting to do this. But it seemed Windblade didn't mind one bit.
"We're pretty high up," she said. "Just what I like."
Jetfire gave a confident smile until Windblade nuzzled her helm under his chin which he then began to blush and shiver. Not long after, she took off again and soared through the air before giving a twirl and gesturing for Jetfire to join her. Who was he to resist the call?
He left the spire and hovered across from her. "By your lead, my dear."
She smirked, "Keep up if you can."
Jetfire was left in the clouds suddenly and stared shocked at how fast Windblade cut across the sky. For a second, he hovered there frozen then grew his own grin and jettisoned to race after her. He sped through a rippling cloud bank in search of her until she popped up out of the blue from below only to dive back down to disappear from his sight. Eager to catch her, he dived too.
Cybertron's larger towers barely touched the altitude in which they resided. Windblade laughed enjoying the breeze while he swerved between two buildings before accelerating upward at her. She gasped when he finally nabbed her, twirling with her in his arms in the same pattern she had done prior.
"How's that for keeping up?"
Windblade hummed, "Not bad."
Jetfire dipped his servo playfully low on her aft and she squealed delightfully, hiking her leg up a little and lightly slapping his chest. He knew she was coming around to his advances and when he heard her engines purring in unison with his own, he could confirm she was officially heeding his call to mate.
He let go of her and watched her do another twirl upright before she evened out to be on the same level as him. He knew immediately what she was planning and was prepared to go through with it. Seekers used aerial tricks and patterns to signify bonding with mates. They could both do their own thing or they can sync with each other off the bat. The best results were in unison.
Windblade took off upward and so did he. Together, they danced around the clouds, rotating them and diving inside the fluffy element. They passed one another in a cross pattern a few times before both took a nosedive and did a circle back to horizontal flying. Swerving around each other with the streams of clouds they produced from their boosters following to show their exotic patterns, they knew anyone from the ground could see them but not everyone knew of Seeker rituals.
Jetfire then said, "I must confess, Windblade, I am thrilled you accepted."
"It's not over yet. Care to do a loop with me?" She asked.
He smiled brightly and followed her lead. They both readjusted to fly in their separate loops in unison once more until they both got the same idea at the end to make a more dramatic ending to their courting.
At the edge of the loop on the down slope, they both leaned right and left respectfully to curve towards each other. Right before they met in the center, they twisted around one another in a helix pattern upward for more than a thousand feet. They slowed and circled each other closer until they were looking the other in the optics nearly nose to nose. Connecting their noses, they both nuzzled one another to end their dance.
The only thing missing was the spark bond. With no hesitance, Jetfire opened his chest and revealed his bright blue spark for his mate to see. He swelled with pride when Windblade seemed in awe. He smiled when she giggled as she noticed he was awestruck by her beauty, seeing her as more than just the teammate he once considered her as. Jetfire heard her chest armor slip back to reveal her own spark and glanced down to see a royal blue orb pulsing calmly among its chamber. It was the moment of truth.
His breath hitched as he pressed his chassis closer to hers and Windblade followed suit. Time seemed to go slower as their sparks started strobing faster in anticipation. Streams of small electric pulses signaled between them. Then a bright flash lit up their air space. Their sparks intertwined and both cried out in a mixture of shock and pleasure. They could feel each other's emotions, see the memories regarding the two of them they had collected over time. Energies surged and collided with one another for a few minutes until their sparks suddenly shot back into their bodies and their armor closed immediately to store the excess energy to prevent it from growing unstable and becoming a time bomb.
Jetfire clutched Windblade close to him as both their boosters stalled from shock and they plummeted towards Cybertron's surface. He looked into her shaded optics, oblivious to the background of the sky turning upside down. He could stare at that gaze for years and never grow bored of it.
Less than nine hundred feet from the ground, their propulsion boosters kicked back online. Jetfire quickly turned them upright and stopped their fall to hover while holding Windblade. A plume of dust ricocheted off the ground from the gust of their boosters as a reminder just how close they came to hitting it. But it didn't matter anymore.
"Now that was fun," Windblade laughed.
Jetfire started with a simple smile before he joined in. He didn't bother to put her down. All he wanted to do was hold his mate for as long as he could.
AN: If you ever see hawks, falcons, and eagles chose mates, what they will do is they will fly around with one another and perform aerial tricks to impress the other. If both are entranced, they will do a death spiral where they will lock talons and fall to the ground only to separate mere feet from hitting said ground, completing the ritual and officially becoming mates. Neat huh? Given Seekers have a few quirks akin to bords I noticed in most Transformers media, I figured "why not this too?"
Also, side note, after I post this, I will be seldom posting for about a week or so. I need to work on a project for a family member for Christmas. It'll be my priority over writing but I'll get back on track as soon as I'm done.
