Author's Note: So, I found like twenty pages of this story from an earlier draft that I am now editing to get more of this story to you. Here is the first section of this edit/section.
"You're back?" Remus asked Artemis.
"Well, I certainly wasn't planning on waiting another seventeen years. What have you told them?"
"Hermione got some rest, we didn't have much time to talk," Harry answered.
"Why don't you tell me what happened after I left?" Artemis asked Remus and Sirius.
"The night you left, a lot happened. The Potters were attacked, James was killed. Lily died saving Harry, which made him survive the killing curse cast on him. No one really understands how this happened exactly, though Dumbledore had some ideas," Remus explained.
" When Lily and James went into hiding, I gave her blood protection from the House of Black. In that moment, she passed the blood protection to you as you share a bloodline. It made it impossible for him to kill you because he was a member of the House of Black."
"Was?" Hermione asked.
"He's no longer alive, I believe was is the correct conjugation."
"He's dead?" Harry asked.
"Yes, Lord Voldemort is dead."
"You weren't gone for that long, Artemis," Sirius stated.
"And? He wouldn't let me take Pettigrew, I had to take matters into my own hands."
"How?" Harry asked with wonder.
"A drop of basilisk venom on his snake and a killing curse."
"You knew about his Horcruxes?" Hermione asked.
"Sirius and I destroyed one, with help from Regulus of course. It was the locket of Salazar Slytherin. What happened after that, Remus?"
"Sirius confronted Peter. Peter killed twelve muggles, cut off his finger, and scurried away. Sirius was sent to Azkaban for life without a trial. Everyone thought he was guilty, even myself," Remus explained, guilt heavy in his voice.
"It's okay, Remus," Sirius tried to ease Remus' guilt.
"No, it isn't. It never will be."
"I forgave you a long time ago, Moony."
"That's the first three years, what can you tell us?" Harry asked.
"I can answer any questions later, but first I have someone I need to speak to."
"Where are you going?" Sirius asked her in the next room.
"The Weasley's."
"Why?"
"Molly Weasley, she is the one who kidnapped my daughter, made everyone forget about me, and pushed me into the tapestry."
"Do you want me to go with you?"
"If you want to."
"Sirius, what are you doing here?"
"And who is with you?"
"Artemis, these are Fred and George Weasley. Fred and Geroge, this is Artemis Black."
"Black, you say?" filled with innuendo.
"The Blacks might be incestuous, but not that incestuous. We're not the Gaunts, for Merlin's sake. I'm his sister. May I speak with your mother?"
"We'll go get her."
"In the meantime, meet our younger brother, Ron."
"I didn't know you had a sister," Ron questioned.
"I believe everyone forgot about me, part of the reason I'm here actually."
"Sirius, what are you doing- Artemis. How wonderful to see you," immediately straightening her back, tightening her voice, and putting on a 'company that I don't like is here' smile. Artemis noticed all of these of course.
"Yes, how lovely to see you again Molly. It's been a while, don't you think?"
"Why don't we speak outside?"
"Lead the way."
"How did you get out?" Molly asked harshly.
"That's the problem with using other people's spells, Molly. You don't know their limitations."
"What was I supposed to do? My brothers' murderer was basically going free."
"Your brothers willingly signed up for a war, they knew they could've died and they joined anyway."
"Your husband is the one that killed them."
"I don't believe we are going to agree on this. Unless you propose an agreeable alternative, I will remove you from the House of Black."
"As if I want to be a part of your family."
"I understand that you don't believe in Blood Supremacy, nor do I to be honest, but this society is entrenched in it. You would lose your status as a Pureblood, your children would become Half-Bloods. I hope you can see the consequences of that."
"I am a Prewett, you can't take that away."
"If you go back far enough, every Pureblood is a Black, the whole Most Ancient House isn't just to be pretentious. The farther you are the more difficult it is to manipulate, I'll give you that. But you just gave me seventeen years inside my family's House magic. I'm sure I could manage. So, do you have a proposal for me? I'll give you four hours. If you come up with something, send a patronus. I don't want you near my family."
"Hello Fred, George."
"Honorable Lady Artemis."
"We appreciate your presence, however short it was," George added.
"And hope to see you again soon."
"An honor to meet the two of you as well."
"So you've told me up to your fourth year, how about you tell me about your fifth?" Artemis asked, looking at Hermione. She wasn't quite sure how to start a relationship with her daughter, but being near her and hearing her out would have to be a start.
"Well, at the beginning dementors attacked Harry and his cousin. Harry was brought before the Wizengamot and cleared of the charges. Umbridge was brought to make Hogwarts "aligned" with the ministry. She used blood quills and veritaserum on students. She was awful and didn't let us learn anything practical for DADA. So, I recommended to Harry that he run a defense group, which he did, the DA. Voldemort was sending thoughts to Harry, one of them saved Arthur Weasley's life. Eventually, he got one that said Sirius was being tortured in the Ministry. Despite thinking it was a trap, we went to the Department of Mysteries."
"I think I can take it from here," Sirius offered after Hermione seemed unsure of how to continue. She nodded thankfully.
"Hermione was fighting Antonin Dolohov, quite admirably if I do say so myself. Harry and I were fighting Malfoy, Bellatrix tried to fling me into the Veil, Hermione stopped her. In doing so, she was hit with a curse by Dolohov."
"He wouldn't."
"Shouldn't you know him better than anyone? He is your husband" Hermione asked.
"And I know that my husband," she used Hermione's term, "would never hurt, intentionally hurt, a child. Any child, much less -" she paused, being defensive was not the way to get her point across.
"His own?" Harry guessed.
"He is not my father, I am not his kid. I don't owe him anything. He's been in Azkaban for over fifteen years, he hurt me, and I get that I recovered quickly due to some family magic thing. But he attacked me in battle, and I'm not going to get over that because we're related. I have two muggle parents that I would do everything for, that I have done everything for. You seem like a really awesome witch, but I don't need a mum right now. I have one, she will never be able to remember me. And I realize that it wasn't your fault that you were stuck in that tapestry, but I can't put myself into a relationship that I don't need for you. I am sorry for that. I think I'm going to go to bed if that's okay." As she listened, she felt her heart breaking. Her daughter was so mature, she was saying that she didn't need her. Some part of her understood, but it felt like her world was coming apart.
"Get some rest, Hermione," Remus told her gently.
"I think I'll get some rest too," Harry told them before following Hermione up the stairs.
"Are you okay, Artemis?" Sirius tried to ask.
"Tell me about them, please?"
