Chapter 14: Gary the Great, Kraven the Cruel!

Route 4...

Our heroes were currently taking a rest in a clearing in the forest. They had set up camp, and everyone, along with their Pokemon, were just hanging around and doing their own thing.

Lillie was sitting in front of a tree in a crisscrossed position, and was gently stroking Nebby's head. Sure, the gaseous Pokemon could be finicky at times, but it sure did like it when Lillie stroked its head. Lillie enjoyed playing with Nebby too, and she was always happy when the gaseous Pokemon didn't cause mischief that she had to deal with.

Brock was cooking meals for the group, and was wearing a pink apron to fit the occasion. In front of him was a fire-place, and hanging above the fire-place was some stew that he was preparing. Since he had experience in dealing with his ten younger siblings, the former Gym Leader was quite experienced in cooking, and because of this, he cooked for everyone, including the Pokemon. Kabutops was standing behind him, peering in on what he was doing. his other Pokemon, meanwhile, were just relaxing in the sunlight.

Ash was helping his two Pokemon partners train up for the next Gym Battle. It was obvious that he was having pretty terrible luck when it came to trying and catch a new Pokemon, so the wannabe Pokemon Master had decided for the time being that he was going to just train up the two Pokemon that he currently had with him.

"Alright! Scorbunny, use Quick Attack!" Ash shouted to his Fire-type before looking at Mankey. "And Mankey, since Scorbunny's going to turn into a Normal-type, you should take advantage of the situation and use Karate Chop!"

Scorbunny bent down on all fours, a silver aura surrounding its body. "Scor..."

It then proceeded to zoom towards the pig-monkey Pokemon at really high-speeds. "Bun! Bun! Bun! Bun!"

Mankey, however, didn't do as its trainer had commanded to do and instead used Bulk Up to try and increase its stats.

Flexing its muscles, the Fighting-type screamed. "Mank-EYYYY!"

However, Scorbunny wasn't at all by this and proceeded to ram into its opponent, causing it much pain.

"Scor-Bun!"

"Mank-Mank!"

The Fighting-type was then sent flying back, crashing into a nearby tree.

"Alright! Good job, Scorbunny!" Ash exclaimed as he watched the little bunny Pokemon rub its nose in attempt to show off. He then looked at Mankey, who slowly getting up, and sighed. "Mankey, you're not really good at using Bulk Up yet! We should practice your main battling skills, and then improve from there...Or at least, that's what my Rotom-Phone said..."

However, Mankey simply got up and roared once again, causing the wannabe Pokemon Master to sweat drop at the fact that the Pig Monkey Pokemon didn't want to listen to him.

Lastly, Peter was watching Ash battle very closely from underneath a tree. He had a laptop in his lap, and was recording some info regarding Scorbunny's Hidden Ability, Libero. Hidden Abilities were pretty rare, so it only made sense that Peter would want to try and record some information, especially considering how he promised Professor Oak weekly reports.

Bulbasaur was curled up next to him comfortably and was fast asleep, a comedically large snot bubble coming out of his nose as it snored.

"Wow, Scorbunny sure is strong, and it really has improved in battles," Peter thought to himself as he looked up from his screen and at the bunny Pokemon, who was taunting Mankey by slapping its own butt while sticking out its tongue. "And Ash clearly knows how to use it properly now, since he commanded Mankey to use Karate Chop. He's aware of how the ability works, and is trying to think of every situation that could pop up so that he can train Scorbunny to counter them. Quite a shame that Mankey isn't listening to him, though..."

Peter looked down at his keyboard and proceeded to write a bit more when, suddenly...

…His Spider-Sense started ringing!

"What the?..."

Peter immediately titled his head to the side and, immediately after, a spear zoomed towards him from behind the tree he was sitting by! It pushed through and definitely would've hit him in the head, however, since he had moved his head in time, the spear missed and continued to fly through the air.

"Woah! Is that...A spear?!" Peter asked in astonishment. "What's it doing here?..."

By this point, Ash and Lillie, along with their Pokemon, had noticed the weapon and were equally confused as to why it was there.

Brock, however, hadn't noticed the weapon's presence yet, mostly because he was so focused on the food that he was creating. He was a perfectionist when it came to that sort of stuff.

"A little bit of this, and a little bit of that..." Brock muttered as he sprinkled in some spices into the food that he was making. "The spices will hopefully enhance the flavor, and contrast with the sweetness. Now, I just need to-"

However, right before the former Gym Leader could continue, the spear zoomed in and landed directly into his soup!

"Agh! My soup!" he exclaimed as he involuntarily took a step back, shocked by the weapon. "It's ruined!..."

"Is that a spear?" Ash asked as he, Lillie, and their Pokemon walked towards the Rock-type specialist. "Where'd it come from?"

"Forget that, what about my soup?!…" Brock whimpered in response.

Lillie, who had stuffed Nebby into her bag, leaned in and examined the weapon. It had a piece of cloth attached to it, and the cloth had a cheetah pattern on it. It was the kind of weapon you'd see an African hunter use. "Hm...And what's with the pattern?..."

"But what about my soup?..." Brock, who was pretty much being ignored by his friends, asked. "I was using so many rare ingredients..."

"Oh come on, Brock. It's alright, you can just make another one!" Peter chuckled as he walked towards the situation, since he had finished shutting down his laptop, which was currently in his bag. "And besides, it's probably not THAT ruined...I mean, sure, some of it fell onto the floor when this spear landed into it, but I'm sure that it still tastes good!..."

"It's not the same..."

Kabutops, who had formed quite a deep relationship with Brock in the short time that they were together, became infuriated upon seeing him sad.

The fossil Pokemon raised its scythe-arms angrily, ready to destroy the spear!

"Kabu..."

However, right before he could, a man with a black cap, a black shirt, and a pair of black pants rushed in and grabbed the spear before Kabutops could destroy it. He was also wearing a pair of black shades, and smiled at our heroes.

"I'll be taking that," he stated with a smile, before looking at Brock. "Sorry about the soup, by the way!"

Peter raised an eyebrow at the man. "Wait a minute, who even are y-"

However, before the secret superhero's question could even complete his question, the man ran off, confusing the group.

"Who even was that?" Ash muttered, looking on at the man. "He seemed to be in a rush..."

"Scor..." Scorbunny stated under its breath, nodding as it too watched the man run away.

"And did you notice the outfit he was wearing?" Lillie asked. "It's like he was part of a film crew!..."

Kabutops attempted to comfort its trainer, who was still comedically upset over his ruined meal. However, Peter chose to ignore this, thinking about what had happened.

"That was really dangerous, and that man literally didn't care about what happened to us whatsoever," the secret superhero thought to himself, putting his hand to his chin. "Something needs to be done..."

His naturally heroic attitude kicking in, Peter decided to make an announcement to his friends.

"Guys, I think we should investigate what's going on there," he told his friends earnestly. "I don't know what's going on, but if they're randomly throwing spears, I think we should investigate! After all, someone could get seriously injured!"

Everyone agreed, especially Brock, who was immediately fired up upon hearing Peter's words.

"Yeah! Let's get revenge for my cooking!" the former Gym Leader exclaimed, pumping his fist into the air excitedly. Kabutops, eager to please its trainer, immediately joined in, raising its scythe-arm as well.

Everyone immediately sweat dropped at this.

"W-Well, that's not exactly the reason why I decided to say that, but whatever floats your boat, I suppose..." Peter muttered, letting out an awkward chuckle at Brock's behavior.

After packing up there things, the group decided to follow the path that the man in black had taken. The Route that they were on was pretty clear, so they didn't have much trouble with trees like they did in previous areas. As usual, it was Ash, Peter, Lillie, and Brock, and the only Pokemon that were outside of their Pokeballs were Scorbunny and Kabutops. Nebby was too, but it was technically still in confinement, since it was in Lillie's bag.

"Hey, what's that over there?" Ash pointed, causing everyone to look.

Eventually, they came across something...Odd.

There was a large group of people, majority of them female, and they were all holding up signs saying 'Good Luck!' or 'I Love You!'. It was a pretty strange sight to see. There were also many other people wearing black outfits similar to the one that the previous man had worn. Some of these strangers in black were holding cameras, and others were telling the crowd to back up.

This pretty much confirmed that they were on the set of a show. Unfortunately, the crowd was incredibly large, so it was kind of hard to see what the set that they were so enthralled by actually looked like.

"Huh, cameras? Security? Something big must be going on here!" Peter exclaimed. "Like they're recording some sort of TV series or movie..."

"Oh, so some sort of big-shot celebrity decided to ruin my meal? How dare he?!" Brock asked, his normal demeanor immediately getting replaced with a comedically angry one that probably would have horrified an average person. His words also seemed to become more and more darker. "I'll show him the power that I've been keeping inside of me for all of these years! I may have been holding back as the Gym Leader of Pewter City, but I'm about to show him the power of a gentle man who's been angered! When I get my hands on him, I am going to teach this rich celebrity actor a lesson he'll never-"

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Ashy-Boy," a cocky-voice stated, cutting the former Gym Leader off and catching his friends' attention. This caused the Rock-type specialist to comedically fall over. "I thought you would have ran back to Pallet after getting to Viridian. I'm beyond impressed!"

Everyone turned their heads to see where the voice was coming from.

However, Ash had recognized the cocky voice, and his eyes narrowed at the person who was approaching them.

"Gary..." the raven-haired boy muttered grimly.

"The one and only!" the grandson of Professor Oak laughed as he came into view, his large squad of cheerleaders following closely behind him. "Did Green send you my message? I really hope she did, because I meant every single word that I said in it! Hahahaha!"

Ash immediately rolled up his sleeves and got ready to charge at his cocky rival from Pallet Town. "You little...I'm gonna teach you a lesson, Gary! Take thi-"

"Now is seriously not the time, Ash," Peter stated firmly as he grabbed the back of the raven-haired boy's collar, stopping him from charging at his annoying acquaintance. He then shifted his attention to his boss' grandson, forming a grin on his face. "Hey Gary, long time no see! How've you been?"

"Good," the cocky trainer simply replied as he crossed his arms and smirked. "Well, until I met you guys that is! Hahaha!"

Peter felt his eye twitch, but tried to keep his cool. "Right...Great to know, Gary..."

"Um, Peter, who's this guy?" Lillie whispered to her friend confusedly. "And why is Ash so mad at him?..."

Overhearing the blonde-haired girl's words, one of Gary's cheerleaders spoke up. "This is the one and only Gary Oak!"

"Yeah! Grandson of the great Professor Samuel Oak, and the future Champion!" another cheerleader chimed in, grinning. "He's gonna make it big at the Indigo League! Just you wait!"

This didn't really answer Lillie's question, so she kind of just assumed he was Ash's rival.

The two cheerleaders who had said those words then proceeded to take a step back and line up with the rest of Gary's supporters. After that, they began doing a cheer for him, simply causing our heroes to sweat drop, with the exception of Ash, who had managed to pull away from Peter's grasp. The raven-haired boy was more annoyed then confused.

"Gary, Gary, he's our man! If he can't be the Champion, nobody can!" they sang. "Goooo Gary!"

"Hahaha! Ladies, ladies, settle down, settle down!" the cocky person laughed, feigning humility. "Your cheering is greatly appreciated, but you know I don't like to show off in front of others hehe! Just go and wait in the car while I settle my business, okay? I'll be real quick, I promise!"

"Okay Gary!" some of the cheerleaders exclaimed happily. "We love you~"

"Haha, I do too, girls, I do too... Anyways, get to the car, already!" Gary exclaimed, hoping that his fans would just leave him alone already. He was kind of getting annoyed. Eventually, however, after a bit of persuasion, they did in fact leave, and the grandson of Professor Oak was left alone with Ash and his friends. Turning to them, he smirked widely. "Fans, am I right? They can be so annoying sometimes!"

Our heroes kind of just stared at him, before he burst out into laughter once more.

"Oh wait, you guys probably can't relate!" he laughed hysterically, wiping a tear that had formed in his eye. "MAN! I am on a roll today, hahaha!"

"This is Gary Oak, and ever since our childhood, he's been my number one rival. I thought he was my friend for sometime, but I've always felt like he and I were competitors. When we started our journeys, we basically solidified that the two of us would compete against each other," Ash bitterly explained to Lillie in a low voice. "AND, since he's Professor Oak's Grandson, he's really rich. Everyone also believes that he's going to be the next Champion for some reason..."

"Which I am!" Gary sneered rudely, overhearing Ash's whispering. "I've assembled a group of powerful Pokemon that are surely stronger then yours! In fact, they're like nothing you've ever seen before! Furthermore, I've also been working to try and complete the Pokedex! I can't let Red get ahead of me in that regard, after all!"

Lillie slowly nodded, taking in Ash's words and trying to ignore the annoying Gary Oak. "Wow, this Gary guy sure seems quite rude...No wonder Ash is acting like this around him..."

Brock had a similar reaction that kind of just included nodding. However, he was thinking about something else entirely. "WOW! Gary had so many hot cheerleaders with him... And he's so much younger then me too... I should get some tips, hehe!..."

Peter simply sighed and shook his head. "If I could, I'd show off to Gary how I'm Spider-Man and I have a lot of fans too...But for the time being, I suppose I'll just go along and act like he's a good kid...If he wasn't my boss' grandson this'd be a VERY different story, though!..."

"Well, Gary, if you have so many cool Pokemon with you, how about you show us? Or are you just trying to show off to us?" Ash asked, trying to stand up to the rich bully.

In his heart, though, Ash was really hoping that Gary was telling the truth about his Pokemon. After all, seeing some rare species of Pokemon would definitely open Ash's eyes to the world that he lived in, and would also allow him to learn some new things about Pokemon that he might not have known about.

Above all, though, Ash was just hoping to see what Gary had with him so that in their inevitable showdown at the Pokemon league he would be at an advantage since he would know what the grandson of Professor Oak had with him.

"Hah! As if I would show YOU, Ashy-Boy!" Gary exclaimed as he took out a Pokeball and spun it on his finger. "My team is going to be a complete secret until we battle at the Pokemon League! You aren't going to know ANYTHING about what I'm using until then!"

"Dang it! It was worth a try..." Ash bitterly thought to himself as he glared at Gary, who smirked back at him. "I hate Gary so much!...He's such a jerk!..."

Apart from the loud cheers from the crowd nearby, an odd silence had befallen the area. With Brock, Peter, and Lillie all remaining silent due to how awkward the situation was, and with Ash and Scorbunny remaining silent as they were pretty angry with Gary.

However, since Lillie wasn't the biggest fan of conflict, she decided to try and lower the tensions between the two rivals.

"W-Well, Gary, what are you doing here?" she asked, trying to keep up a genuine smile. However, due to the fact that Gary pretty much radiated bad vibes everywhere he went, this was a bit difficult. "Since you're the grandson of Professor Oak, you must be rich, right? Are you the one responsible for this whole setup? Like, are you making a TV show?"

"HAH! Me? A TV show?" Gary asked, trying to hold in his laughter. "I would NEVER create a TV show! After all, everyone already knows how great I am!"

"So, uh, who IS responsible for all this anyways?" Peter asked as he looked to the crowd. "They must be pretty popular, considering the massive crowd that's gathered..."

"Yeah, he IS pretty famous. Not as famous as me, considering my Gramps is like the most popular guy in Kanto, but still pretty famous," Gary stated as he also looked towards the crowd. "But anyways, his name's Kraven, and he's a celebrity!"

"Kraven?" Brock asked, raising an eyebrow. "I think I've heard of him...Isn't he the guy that has that hunting show? My little siblings love him!"

"Yeah, that's the one. Everyone calls him Kraven the Hunter, though," Gary explained. "On his show, he goes all across the world, hunting and capturing rare and powerful Pokemon. It's a pretty popular show."

Hearing that the show involved rare Pokemon, Ash decided to actually talk with his rival, and not ignore him for once.

"Wait a minute, Gary, did you say rare and powerful Pokemon?" the raven-haired boy asked, raising an eyebrow.

Gary simply continued to smirk confidently. "Yeah, I said that. What, are you deaf or something?"

Ash took great offense to this question and rolled up his sleeves before taking a few steps towards his most annoying rival. "Grrrr, you take that back!"

"Hah, make me!" Gary replied in a snarky tone as he also rolled up his sleeves and walked towards his rival.

"Okay, okay, let's all calm down here," Peter stated as he comedically slid in-between the two rivals, extending his arms between the two of them. "Let's not get violent, okay?"

"Alright, fine..." Ash muttered as he backed away angrily. "I still don't like Gary, though..."

"Fine with me," the grandson of Professor Oak stated as he raised his hands and took a few steps back. "I honestly don't care what Ash does."

"Okay, let's keep those kinds of things to ourselves, okay?" Peter asked, trying to keep a grin on his face. He then turned his head to look at Gary. Lowering his arms, he asked "So, uh, Gary...What brings you here? Are you a fan of Kraven's?"

"A fan? Of Kraven's? No way!" the boy with spiky orange hair exclaimed with a laugh. "I'm just here so that I can trade Pokemon with Kraven later. Y'know, after he's finished shooting these few scenes. He keeps all of the Pokemon he captures, and, personally, I think the Charizard he caught in episode 352 looked pretty strong..."

This caused Ash's ears to perk up. "Hold up, you're gonna TRADE your Pokemon? I would never do that!..."

"Why not? I've got a whole bunch of extras, since I'm trying to create the best team possible, so I've got a whole bunch to spare," the wannabe Pokemon Master's rival stated. However, after he caught a glance at the amount of Pokeballs on the raven-haired boy's waist, it quickly made sense. "Oh, I get it now. You've only got two Pokemon! HAH! That's pretty pathetic, Ashy-Boy! Man, and to think I considered you my rival!..."

"H-Hey, shut up..." Ash mumbled as he pulled his jacket down to try and hide the amount of Pokeballs he had with him. He was a bit embarrassed by Gary's comment, considering catching a large amount of Pokemon was one of his goals at the start of his journey. However, he still wanted to defend himself. "Quality after quantity, after all..."

Peter, Scorbunny, Lillie, and Brock all watched as Ash and Gary continued to argue. It was really going nowhere, but the four of them knew that intervening would be useless. The rivalry between the two of them was really strong, after all!

However, soon, someone who didn't care about their rivalry came in to interject.

"Will you two just SHUT UP?!" the person asked. Our heroes, along with Gary, looked to the side to see another member of the crew. She was dressed up in a similar fashion to the earlier member of the film crew, and she was fuming. "If you want to argue, go somewhere else! We're trying to shoot a scene here, and we can't do that with you two bickering! So, once again...SHUT THE HELL UP!"

Ash and Gary both blinked twice, pretty embarrassed with what happened. They looked away, faces red.

"S-Sorry..." the two Pokemon trainers muttered in unison, while everyone else sweat dropped.

"This is what happens when you don't keep your mouths shut..." Brock muttered.

"Hmph!" the crew member huffed as she turned around and walked away in front of the crowd. "Alright everyone, quiet on the set! I don't want another situation that involves me yelling at random kids who can't keep their goddamn mouths shut!..."

"So, uh, how about we go ahead and watch the filming process?" Peter suggested, nervously chuckling. "After that, Gary can meet with Kraven so that they can trade Pokemon, and we can-"

"Complain because of how he destroyed my soup!" Brock interjected as he angrily marched over to the crowd. "Come on, Kabutops! Let's go and complain to the producer for putting our lives at risk, and, more importantly, for destroying my soup!"

"Kabu Ka!" Brock's Pokemon exclaimed as it followed him.

Everyone sweat dropped at this.

"He wants to complain, yet he has the decency to wait for shooting to stop..." Lillie muttered. "Brock is...Quite the person..."

"Hold up, isn't that the Pewter City Gym Leader?" Gary thought to himself as he looked on at the Rock-type specialist. "I don't really remember his face considering how me and my Pokemon defeated him so easily and quickly...But why does he have a Kabutops with him? Isn't that a Fossil Pokemon? Aren't those rare? And why is he constantly ranting about soup?..."

Our heroes, along with Gary, had managed to get in front of the crowd and had all decided to collectively watch the shooting of the scene together. After all, so many people had gathered just to watch it, so obviously it was going to be pretty good. There was also a lot of chattering from among the people in the crowd.

They were all asking some pretty serious questions amongst themselves.

"Do you think we'll see Kraven?"

"What Pokemon do you think he'll catch?"

"Is Kraven married? He's crazy hot..."

Lillie looked around, surprised by this. "Wow, everyone sure is excited for this thing..."

"It makes sense. Nothing to be surprised about," Gary replied nonchalantly, casually spinning a Pokeball on his finger. "Kraven's show is ONLY one of the biggest in the industry, after all..."

"Stupid Gary..." Ash angrily thought to himself as he crossed his arms. "Thinks he's so cool because he knows a few facts about some TV show..."

The camera crew were all ready, and were just waiting for the word to begin recording from the director. He was sitting in a black chair, and had a pair of black sunglasses just like the film crew. He was also red T-shirt and some black pants. Lastly, he was also holding a megaphone in his hands.

"QUIET! Quiet on the set!" the man screamed at the top of his lungs into his megaphone, causing everyone in the crowd to immediately shut up. Addressing the audience, he continued. "The one and only Kraven is about to enter onto the scene, and I don't want any of you to ruin it! We spent a long time setting up all of the props and getting the wild Pokemon into position, so I don't want you all to mess it up, understood?!"

Everyone in the audience, with the exception of Gary who kind of just rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, nodded in the affirmative. Everyone understood that the director of this thing was really serious about what he was doing!

"Good," the director stated before turning his head back to the set. "Now, camera-man! Start rolling in three...Two...One!"

And like that, they started recording the episode.

"They're starting, Scorbunny," Ash whispered to his partner. "Let's see if this show is popular for a reason..."

The Fire-type Pokemon nodded, keeping its eyes on the set. "Scor..."

A silence overtook the area as everyone watched closely. Nothing really happened, and our heroes were starting to doubt if anything was going to happen at all.

However, when they noticed some nearby bushes rustling, they knew they were in for a treat.

Immediately, a man jumped out of the bushes!

This man was Kraven, known to the world of television as Kraven the Hunter. He looked incredibly fearsome.

He had black hair, as well as a short black beard. His outfit was pretty unique, to put it lightly, and consisted of a design that resembled a tiger or cheetah. He had a spotted pair of pants, and a vest that had two bright-green tiger eyes on it. However, he wasn't wearing anything under his vest, so it exposed his powerful and well-built body. Overall, his outfit just seemed...Odd. Definitely something you'd find on television.

Many members of the gathered crowd wanted to immediately start cheering at the top of their lungs upon seeing the man, despite his strange appearance. However, they knew that they had to keep their mouths shut so that the film crew could continue recording.

"Is that Kraven?" Brock asked in a hushed tone to Gary, who simply nodded in response.

"Yeah, that's him all right," the grandson of Professor Oak whispered back with a grin. "Kraven the Hunter...The man who has captured many rare and powerful Pokemon...I wonder what he'll capture on today's episode?..."

"Hey there viewers, Kraven here!" the hunter exclaimed with a grin, looking towards the camera. He spoke in a thick, Russian accent and, despite his bulky and overall scary appearance, he was speaking in a very friendly, albeit hushed, manner. "I'm here today in a forest in the Kanto Region to try and capture a very rare Pokemon! We've managed to locate it, but everyone knows that finding it is the easy part..."

The camera zoomed over to a Pokemon that was located far-off, and proceeded to zoom in on it. It then panned back to Kraven, who was smirking.

"...Catching it is, obviously, the harder part!"

He proceeded to stand up and inch towards the Pokemon at rapid speeds, dashing from bush to bush in an attempt to conceal himself from the wild Pokemon, so that he couldn't get spotted by it.

Peter, who was watching very closely, was shocked by how much distance Kraven was able to cover. Despite the fact that he was just an ordinary human with no superpowers whatsoever, he was able to cover a lot of distance in an incredibly short amount of time, which was quite impressive to the secret superhero.

"Wow! This Kraven guy sure is something else..." he thought to himself with a grin. "I never thought someone like THAT could exist...I mean, sure, I would OBVIOUSLY beat him in a hand-to-hand brawl, but he seems to be in pretty good shape! Much better then the average person, at least..."

Kraven the hunter proceeded to zoom from bush to bush in an attempt to hide himself from the wild Pokemon that he was intending to capture for his show.

However, after picking a bush that was a reasonable amount of distance from the creature, the celebrity decided to hide in it.

"Alright, folks. I'm in position!" he stated as he looked at the camera, continuing to smile warmly. However, his voice was now extremely quiet, due to the fact that the distance between him and the Pokemon was extremely small now. "Now, we just have to capture it. But first, let's stop for a moment and examine our prey, shall we?"

The camera panned from Kraven to the wild Pokemon, and proceeded to zoom in on it.

The Pokemon was covered by blue, seaweed-like vines that obscured its face. It was absolutely impossible to see Tangela's face, with the exception of a small opening where you could see a bit of its eyes. The vines gave Tangela a round shape, but it was unknown what it looked like without them. There was also a pair of red boot-like feet poking out from under the vines, but it had no visible arms.

This odd creature was running around in circles, happily playing around.

"This Pokemon is called Tangela. It is a Grass-type, and is extremely rare!" Kraven explained enthusiastically yet quietly as the camera moved back to him. He quickly continued. "Its body is covered in thick vines, and because of this, nobody knows what it looks like underneath. Its one of the greatest mysteries of our time!"

He then took out a spear, and his smirk grew wider.

"However, now, its time for the real show to begin! Let's see if I can capture it successfully!"

"So Gary, what Pokemon is Kraven going to use to capture that Tangela?" Ash asked his rival. Sure, he still hated the guy, but Gary knew a good amount about this show, and the wannabe Pokemon Master was actually starting to get a little bit invested in it.

"Oh, you thought he was going to battle that Pokemon?" the cocky trainer asked, his arms still crossed as he looked on. "He's called Kraven the HUNTER not Kraven the TRAINER, Ashy-Boy. Use your head! He's going to use his spear to damage that Tangela, and then capture it with a net!"

This caught Ash, Peter, Lillie, and Brock by surprise.

"WHAT?!" the four friends exclaimed in complete disbelief.

"Shhhh!" everyone around them quickly responded, putting a finger to their lips.

"R-Right, sorry..." Lillie apologized, before immediately looking back at Gary. "But Gary, what you said...Is that true? Is Kraven really going to attack that Tangela with a spear?..."

"Sure, that's like the main appeal of his show," Gary replied nonchalantly. "I don't really get why you guys are so surprised..."

Peter had his arms crossed and kept on staring at the set. However, he was deep in thought. "This Kraven guy seems like trouble...Everyone knows its against International laws to capture a Pokemon against its will...A Pokeball allows a Pokemon to be captured, calmed down, and make it actually WANT to go with its trainer...This kind of thing though? Harming a Pokemon with a literal weapon? That's just wrong. Spider-Man might have to look into this later..."

The wild Tangela was minding its own business when, finally, Kraven made his move.

The hunter jumped out of the bushes and at the Grass-type Pokemon, startling it and not giving it enough time to get out of the way. Immediately, Kraven got to work.

Despite being a celebrity, it seemed that Kraven did actually know how to hunt.

He threw his spear to the Tangela's right, causing it to flee to the left side. It was frightened by the weapon's sudden appearance, and it thought that running was the best option for it.

However, Kraven was ready for this.

As Tangela ran, the hunter picked up his spear and threw it again. This time, it landed in front of the wild Grass-type.

Once again being startled, it turned around...

…Only to be met face to face with Kraven, who was crouching down to be on its level!

"Hello there, little one," the celebrity smirked. No one apart from Peter noticed, due to his enhanced eyesight, but Kraven wasn't looking at Tangela with his usual, friendly smile.

His smirk was definitely a wicked one.

However, only the secret superhero could see this because Kraven was really far away from the crowd now, so they couldn't really see his facial expressions.

"T-Tangela..." the Pokemon whimpered as it took a few steps back. However, it bumped into the spear, stopping it from moving backwards.

"Don't worry, little one, this won't hurt as long as you play along," Kraven stated as he pulled out a net. In one swift moment, he grabbed the wild Tangela and shoved it into his bag, smirking from ear to ear. The Tangela struggled a bit, but, in secret, Kraven pulled out a small needle and injected an anesthetic into Tangela, causing it to fall asleep. Again, nobody noticed this except for Peter because Kraven was a bit too far away from the crowd for them to be able to see.

He then turned around to face the camera and the crowd, once again smiling in a friendly manner.

"Aha! It looks like I've successfully captured this wild Tangela!" the hunter exclaimed as he dangled the net that contained Tangela in front of his face, blocking the camera's view of it. He then once again smirked. "I'm sure we'll be the best of friends, hehe!..."

Everyone was cheering loudly except for our heroes, who just looked on with angry stares.

"That's not how you catch a Pokemon!..." Ash muttered.

"Scor-Bun..." the wannabe Pokemon Master's partner nodded in response.

"I wonder how the Tangela is feeling?..." Lillie asked, genuinely concerned.

"He doesn't know how to catch a Pokemon AND he ruined my soup! This guy sucks!" Brock exclaimed.

However, despite being the angriest of the bunch, Peter didn't say anything. He simply brought his hands to his side, with his fists clenched.

"Alright, this guy DEFINITELY needs to be interrogated!" the secret superhero angrily thought to himself. "I know nobody else saw it since he was too far away, but because of my super powers, I have enhanced eyesight. I saw everything clearly. Kraven injected Tangela with something so that it couldn't struggle. What a terrible person!..."

Mentally, he decided that he was going to ask the celebrity a few questions once the shooting was done. After all, his strong sense of justice wouldn't let him do anything otherwise!

"Aaaaand...Cut! That's a wrap! Great job as usual, Kraven!" the director exclaimed as the nearby cameraman stopped recording. He got out of his chair and stretched. "Let's take a break, everyone! Send the footage to the editing team, too. We're nearing the release date for this episode..."

He then turned to the crowd and grinned, before screaming into his megaphone.

"Hey everybody! Now that shooting's over, Kraven can give out autographs now!" he exclaimed enthusiastically. "Just form a neat and orderly line so that-"

Before he could even finish his sentence, everyone in the crowd quickly formed a surprisingly straight line that consisted of both people and Pokemon. They were ready to get their autographs.

"O-Oh. Okay, I wasn't expecting you guys to form it that quickly," he stated truthfully as he put a hand on his hip. "Oh well. Kraven, let's get these autographs out, alright?!"

"Sure, sure. Whatever..." the hunter muttered as he handed the bag that contained Tangela to a random crew member before walking towards the line, muttering under his breath. "I really hate my fans, they're so annoying... I just want to get paid and get out of here..."

Peter heard everything that Kraven was saying, due to his enhanced hearing. This only increased his hatred for him.

"Let's wait for everyone to get their autographs from this guy, and then we'll chat with him," he solemnly stated, narrowing his eyes at the celebrity. "I really don't like him at all..."

Ash, Scorbunny, Lillie, Kabutops, and Brock all looked at him with raised eyebrows. Sure, they didn't like how Kraven was just capturing the Pokemon without using Pokeballs, but that was all part of the show, right? Why did Peter hate him so much?

"That's fine with me, Jeter," Gary stated as he closed his eyes and put his hands behind his head. He had purposely mispronounced Peter's name just to mess with him, but it seemed that the secret superhero did not notice. Of course, the grandson of Professor Oak didn't really care and, opening one eye, he continued. "After all, trading might take a while, and I don't want to take away the opportunity to get an autograph from Kraven from all of these lifeless, die-hard fans, haha!"

That last comment earned some glares from pretty much everyone in the line but Gary, as usual, did not care.

"Aaaaand, one for you, young man," Kraven stated as he signed a piece of paper with a black marker, before handing it over to a young boy, who seemed to be really excited to receive it. He smiled, though it was pretty obvious that it wasn't a genuine one. Still, the fan somehow did not notice and quickly accepted it anyways. "And remember, never stop hunting! Haha!"

"Oh my gosh, thank you so much, Kraven!" the young fan excitedly exclaimed as he took at the paper, before shifting his gaze back to the celebrity. "I'll never forget this experience! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Don't mention it, kid," the hunter stated with a smile. "Now, get out of here and go hunt some Pokemon! Haha!"

The fan nodded. "I will! Thanks again!"

He proceeded to run off, and Kraven shook his head with a sigh.

"And that's the last of them..." the celebrity muttered as he put his hands on his hips and shook his head. "Damn fans...They're such a waste of time...I swear, if I could, I'd refuse to give them autographs...But hey, gotta keep up my image for the press..."

Our heroes were watching this unfold from nearby. Ash, Lillie, and Gary were all sitting on large rocks, while Brock and Peter were watching on while standing. As usual, Kabutops was standing near Brock and Scorbunny was playing with Ash. Nebby was sound asleep in Lillie's bag.

"Finally!" Gary exclaimed as he got up to his feet and stretched. "Those fans were complete nuts! Now, I've just gotta get there and initiate a trade, hehe!..."

Gary confidently walked over to the celebrity while our heroes shrugged at each other.

Well, now it was time to go and confront him.

Kraven was busy cleaning up the set and packing things into boxes when Gary arrived. Most of the crew had packed up and left, and all that was left was a truck, and the director who was just walking around aimlessly.

Gary grinned at the man and started to speak. "Hey there, Kraven! My name's Gary Oak, and I-"

Not even looking at him, the hunter simply said "Sorry kid. I'm not giving anymore autographs out. You should've come when you had the chance."

"O-Oh, I'm not here for that," the grandson of Professor Oak stated, before jabbing a thumb at his chest. "I'm here to trade Pokemon with you! I've seen you catch plenty of strong ones in past episodes, and I want some of 'em!"

"A trade?" Kraven asked, glancing at Gary.

"Yup!" Ash's rival responded with a confident smirk.

This caused the celebrity to become silent.

After a bit of silence, Kraven simply looked back to the boxes that he was working with.

"Sorry, but I don't trade my Pokemon. They're for my episodes."

Gary blinked twice before comedically falling over.

"W-What do you even do with them?..." the grandson of Professor Oak asked, quite surprised with the celebrity's response. He got up and dusted himself off, before continuing. "You've got so many, too!...You should share, and-"

"It is none of your business what I do with the Pokemon that I capture," Kraven stated firmly as he finished packing his stuff, before glaring at Gary with a ferocity that the young trainer wasn't expecting. "Now, if you know what's best for you, you will leave me alone and never come back. Ever."

"W-Woah..." Gary muttered, taking a step back. "I didn't expect him to respond like this..."

"Frankly, I'm a bit curious too, you know," a voice that Gary recognized as Peter's stated.

The two of them turned their heads to see Peter, Brock, Ash, and Lillie all walking towards them to join in on the conversation.

"Oh great..." Kraven grumpily thought to himself as he rolled his eyes discretely. "More 'fans' that are way too nosy..."

Peter cleared his throat before continuing. He didn't want to come in and start throwing accusations. He wanted to approach this in a mature and respectable manner. "Listen, Kraven, sir. I think-"

"Alright, let's cut right to the chase!" Brock exclaimed, cutting his friend off and getting right in front of Kraven's face. This didn't faze the celebrity, who simply crossed his arms in response. "One of YOUR props destroyed MY cooking! I was using really expensive ingredients, you know!"

The hunter simply raised an eyebrow. "And?..."

"And?" Brock repeated in confusion, before becoming even more infuriated. "AND?! I have a right to sue you, you know! I wasted money on those ingredients!"

"Well, do you have any proof that one of my props 'destroyed' your cooking?" Kraven asked with a confident smirk. "I'd gladly pay up if you could produce some..."

"H-Huh? Well, no, I don't..." Brock muttered in response. However, he quickly shook his head and became angry once more. "B-But I'll find a way! Justice will be served, and-"

"Kraven, honey, are we ready to go? My appointment is in a few hours..." a brand new voice asked.

Everyone turned around to face the truck, only to see a beautiful woman poking her head out of the vehicle. This was Kraven's wife, Sasha. She had perfect blonde-hair, and was wearing a red dress.

"Yes, dear," Kraven responded, rolling his eyes. "I just have to deal with these-"

"Hel-lo beautiful!" Brock exclaimed as he quickly zoomed in front of Sasha, getting down onto one knee in a matter of seconds. Somehow, he had gotten a rose in his hand and was holding it out to the beautiful lady. "I don't know who you are, but your beauty stands out to me! Fair maiden! Please make me the happiest man in the world and accept this rose from me!"

"Oh, um...What?" Sasha asked in response, genuinely confused.

Our heroes sweat dropped at the exchange, while Kraven and Gary simply looked on in confusion. Brock sure was a strange fellow!

"What is that guy doing?..." Gary muttered. "What a weirdo..."

Kabutops, however, had a very different reaction.

The fossil Pokemon was fuming with anger!

Sure, it had spent just a little bit of time with the Pokemon Breeder, but it had still developed a very close bond with him. Seeing Brock crush over Kraven's wife like that...It made Kabutops pretty jealous!

Immediately, using its incredible speed, Kabutops zoomed towards Brock and wrapped its scythe-arms around him, wrapping him in a tight hug.

"Kabu Kabu!" the Pokemon angrily exclaimed as it dragged Brock away from the woman, who looked on with a confused expression.

"Um...Okay?..." she muttered, before shrugging and entering the vehicle.

"H-Hey! Kabutops, let go!" Brock exclaimed as he flailed his arms and legs around him. "If you're not careful, you're going to slice me in half with those arms of yours!..."

Our heroes sweat dropped as Kabutops dragged Brock away, leaving them alone.

"W-Wow, I knew Kabutops loved Brock, but I didn't think that it loved him THAT much..." Lillie muttered. "The world of Pokemon sure is one full of mystery..."

Peter nodded in response, but quickly shook his head and looked back at Kraven.

"But anyways, back to the point!" the secret superhero exclaimed. "I'm not accusing you of anything, but I just want to know-"

"There is nothing to know!" Kraven screamed, cutting Peter off and frightening everyone present. He was getting pretty angry with them. If they knew what he did with the captured Pokemon, he'd be out of business! "They are MY Pokemon, and what I do with them is MY business!"

He then turned to Gary, and continued. "And YOU! I will not trade with you, is that understood?!"

Ash, Lillie, and Gary all immediately nodded at the scary celebrity's words. Just a few moments ago he seemed so friendly, and now he was screaming at them at the top of his lungs! Creepy...

Unlike his friends, Peter stood firmly. However, he had to admit that Kraven had a point. He had no proof, and he had no right to check out Kraven's personal collection of Pokemon. "Hm...Sure, fine, whatever..."

"Good," Kraven nodded, before turning around towards his large truck. "Now, please LEAVE! We will be doing just that in just a few moments, and I do not want to see your annoying faces again, okay?!"

"Yes, okay!" Ash, Lillie, and Gary all exclaimed in unison while nodding their heads. Even the cocky grandson of Professor Oak was afraid of Kraven!

However, as the hunter walked towards his vehicle, Peter simply narrowed his eyes at him.

"Hm...Peter Parker may not be able to investigate, but maybe Spider-Man can..."

"Great, just great," Gary angrily muttered as he leaned against a tree, his arms crossed. "Because of your guys' nosiness, Kraven doesn't want to trade with me anymore! Thanks for nothing, losers. Just what I'd expect from Ashy-Boy and his friends!..."

"Hey, don't say that!" Ash angrily responded as he stood up, since he was sitting on a rock. "Kraven probably didn't want to trade with you anyways! He probably saw how much of a jerk you are!"

"G-Guys..." Lillie started, trying to get the two boys to stop fighting. Brock was being hugged by Kabutops a little too tightly, and Peter was busy thinking about...Something, so it was up to her to stop the two of them from jumping at each other.

Of course, she didn't really have the confidence to do that!

"Oh boy..." the blonde-haired girl muttered as her friend and his rival started using harsher words. "This isn't going to end well..."

"A jerk, eh?!" Gary angrily asked. "Well, at least I'm not a weak trainer like you, Ashy-Boy! I've already got three whole Gym Badges!"

"Pl-Please don't fight, you two..." Lillie muttered again, trying to calm the two of them down.

"That's only because you've got a car that lets you get around faster!" Ash quickly shot back, before taking out a Pokeball. "And I am NOT a weak trainer! Me and my buddies, we're strong! We'll prove it to you!"

"Oh it is SO on," Gary smirked as he took out a Pokeball and took a few steps back. "Wartortle, I choose you!"

The grandson of Professor Oak threw out his Pokeball and, immediately, a blue turtle Pokemon materialized in front of him. It was Wartortle, the evolved form of Squirtle!

"Wartortle!" the Pokemon shouted, a genuine and happy smile present on its face.

After that, Gary's cheerleaders comedically appeared behind him and started cheering at the top of their lungs.

"Gary! Gary! He's our man, if he can't win this nobody can! Goooo Gary!"

The grandson of Professor Oak simply smirked and crossed his arms. "Well? Come on, Ash. Send out your partner and let's battle! Since I'm feeling generous, and just genuinely sorry for you over the fact that you only have two Pokemon, I'll allow the use of two Pokemon for this battle! That alright with you, Ashy-Boy?"

"Yeah, that's fine. You're on, Gary!" Ash shouted in response and before looking down at Scorbunny. "Well? What do you say, buddy? Wanna battle?"

The Fire-type excitedly nodded in response. "Scor!"

While this was all happening, Lillie could only sigh.

"Oh man...I guess this is happening" Lille sighed disappointedly, since she wasn't able to stop the confrontation. She then proceeded to look around. "Hey, where'd Peter go?...I could really use his help right about now..."

"This is risky, but I have to do what I feel is right..." Peter thought to himself as he crawled on top of Kraven's truck. He was in costume, and was ready to discover the truth about Kraven the Hunter. Was he a good person? Did he keep his Pokemon in a safe location? Or did he keep them in cages? He had to know the truth, he just had to! "Still, if I'm caught, I'm pretty much done for..."

Using his super strength, he casually punched a whole right through the cargo bed's roof and hopped inside.

It was really big, and when I say big, I mean REALLY big.

Like, it was big on the outside, but holy crap! It looked like an entirely different size on the inside!

"Wow, this place is big..." the wallcrawler exclaimed mentally as he looked around. "But it makes sense, I guess. He's an actor, and he needs a place to keep all of his props and stuff...I suppose that would explain all of the boxes that are just laying around here..."

Indeed, there were in fact a surprising amount of boxes laying around. It made traversing through the back of the truck incredibly difficult.

"Alright, Spidey, just tip-toe across here without accidentally stepping on anything..." Spider-Man thought to himself as he slowly walked around, being incredibly careful not to step on anything on the floor. "Yeesh, this Kraven guy sure is a slob! Chip packets, papers, and...Ew, is that a lollipop? Doesn't he clean this place up? Gross..."

Suddenly, our hero heard a voice.

"Yes, yes, I have it right here."

Peering behind a large stack of boxes, Peter raised an eyebrow. It was Kraven, and he was on the phone. But...Who was he talking to?

"I know it's important," Kraven stated onto the phone. He paused, presumably to let the person on the other end speak, before continuing. "I know, I know. When have I failed you before? We've had so many deals before!"

"Deals?...Is he doing business with someone?..." the wallcrawler mentally asked himself as he leaned in so that he could hear better. "If I could just..."

Suddenly, his eyes widened.

Shivering in a cage right next to his feet was none other then the Tangela he had captured earlier!

"W-What in the world?..." Peter thought as his eyes widened. "That Tangela!...What's going on here?..."

"Yes, I have the rare Pokemon right here," the hunter continued as he picked up the cage with a smirk. "Nobody knows the truth about this show, not even the director! You and I both know very well that I, Kraven the Hunter, sell all of the Pokemon that I capture to the highest bidder. So, if you truly are willing to pay a thousand Poke-dollars just for this one Pokemon, I think we have a deal..."

"He's selling Pokemon!..." Peter angrily thought to himself. "That's absolutely terrible!..."

In his anger, however, Peter accidentally shifted his hand to the side, causing the the box at the top of the stack he was hiding behind to fall down onto the ground.

"Oh crap!..." the wallcrawler thought to himself as he backed away, shocked by his blunder. "I shouldn't have done that!..."

Kraven, who had noticed the fallen box, coldly said goodbye to the person on the other side of the phone. "I will call you back, my comrade. I have some...Business, to take care of..."

After hanging up, the hunter turned to the stack of boxes, smirking.

"Whoever you are, I'd suggest you come out of your hiding," the celebrity stated with a smirk. "I won't bite. I just want to know who was spying on me."

"Oh crap, what should I do?..." Peter thought to himself as he hid behind the boxes. "Hollywood actors aren't ACTUALLY strong, are they?...I think I could handle him..."

Taking a deep breath, the superhero took a few steps away from the stack of boxes and stood face to face with the hunter.

"My name is Spider-Man, and I know about your little scheme of selling the Pokemon you capture on the show!" the spider-themed superhero exclaimed, before pointing at the celebrity. "I'm going to expose you to the world, and bring you to justice!"

"Alright Wartortle, use Bite!" Gary commanded with a smirk. He had one hand in his pocket, and he was playing around with his ying-yang themed necklace around his neck using the other. "And make it snappy! See what I did there? Snap? Bite? Hehe, I crack myself up...But come on Wartortle, hurry it up!"

"Goooo Gary!" the cocky trainer's cheerleaders exclaimed, all of them grinning from ear to ear.

The battle between Ash and Gary was raging on, and Ash was CLEARLY outmatched. Not only did Gary's Wartortle have the advantage against his buddy Scorbunny, but the turtle Pokemon was also evolved, essentially ensuring that it had more power then the unevolved bunny Pokemon!

"Er, Scorbunny, dodge it!" Ash commanded worriedly. When he challenged Gary, he was expecting an easy win. What he WASN'T expecting was for Gary's Wartortle to be so powerful! Seriously, had such a diverse move-set, and was commanded so by Gary so skillfully, that Ash didn't even know what to do! "Man, Gary sure is tough!...But he's my rival, and I WILL beat him! I can't let him win this!"

The little bunny Pokemon, who had already taken a lot of damage, attempted to run to the left. However, Gary's Wartortle was surprisingly fast and, in a few swift movements, was able to grab Scorbunny and bite into its neck.

"War!...Tortle!..." Gary's partner exclaimed as it bit down hard.

Scorbunny's eyes widened in pain. "Scooor!"

"Agh! That's not good!" Ash exclaimed in shock as this happened. "Um...Scorbunny, use your powerful legs to kick Wartortle off of you!"

Doing as its trainer commanded, the little Fire-type pulled its legs back before kicking them forwards, hitting the Water-type directly in the stomach. This successfully pushed Wartortle away, however, due to the fact that its stomach was protected by a pale-yellow underside that was directly connected to its shell, the attack didn't do much damage to the turtle Pokemon.

"War!..." the Water-type exclaimed with an excited grin as it skidded away from Ash's partner. Unlike Gary, Wartortle seemed like a genuinely nice Pokemon that was having a lot of fun in the battle.

"Bun..." Scorbunny breathed as it got up. It was damaged beyond belief, and couldn't believe that it was losing this badly. "Scor...Bun..."

"Don't give up, Scorbunny! We can still win this!" Ash stated, attempting to motivate his partner. "Or at least, I hope we can..."

"Let's wrap this up," Gary stated, as confident in his abilities as ever. "Wartortle! Prove your strength and use Skull Bash!"

Wartortle, as excited as ever to prove its strength to its trainer, tucked its head into its shell and aimed towards Scorbunny. Then, suddenly, it zoomed towards the Fire-type at a a surprising speed! Scorbunny was totally shocked!

"Skull Bash..." Ash angrily thought to himself, attempting to create a plan. "Hold up, wait a minute...We're in an area surrounded by trees, and it looks like Wartortle doesn't have control over where its going..."

A grin suddenly appeared on Ash's face.

"All right! Scorbunny, I know you're weak because of all the damage that you took, but I think I have an idea!" Ash told his partner, who looked back at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Scor?..." the Fire-type asked confusedly. Ash had made some pretty great plans in his time as a trainer, but what could he possibly have cooking at a time like this?

"Just trust me, buddy, and use Quick Attack to dodge Wartortle's incoming Skull Bash!" the raven-haired boy commanded. "You can do it! I believe in you!"

Realizing his plan, Scorbunny grinned. The little Fire-type looked back at Wartortle, who was coming closer and closer.

"Scor..."

A white aura surrounded the bunny Pokemon's body, signifying a type-change.

"...Bunny!"

Then, it zoomed around, surprising both Gary and Wartortle with its incredible speed. Naturally, it was fast, but combined with the added speed that Quick Attack gave, it was impossible to catch up to it!

"What? No way..." Gary angrily mumbled. "Is MY Wartortle really going to?..."

Before he could even complete his question, Gary's partner completely missed its mark, with Scorbunny dodging the attack! To add insult to injury, the Water-type crashed into a nearby tree!

"War!" Gary's partner exclaimed as it staggered back a bit. It then collapsed onto the floor and its head popped out of its shell, revealing that the Water-type had swirls in its eyes.

Somehow, in a comedic fashion, Scorbunny had defeated Wartortle!

This caused all of Gary's cheerleaders to gasp in unison, and it also caused Gary's eyebrow to twitch.

"Damn it! Are you kidding me?!" Gary angrily asked, pulling out his Pokeball and returning his Pokemon to it. He put it away and grabbed another one. "Stupid Wartortle...Once it evolves it'll be strong, but for now its such a pain to raise...What a chore..."

"Wow! We did it, buddy!" Ash exclaimed to his partner with a grin. Scorbunny nodded and ran towards him. Doing a front-flip, Scorbunny's foot made contact with Ash's hand, and the two of them high-fived each other.

"Well, whatever," Gary stated with a shrug as he sent out his next Pokemon, which slowly materialized in front of himself. "You can celebrate if you want, but I don't care. This next one? THIS is my ace! This is my strongest Pokemon! Say hello..."

The Pokemon fully materialized in front of Gary, and Ash, along with his partner, simply glared at it in complete shock.

"...To Raticate!"

Raticate was a large, rodent-like Pokemon. It was primarily tawny-colored with a cream underside. It had narrow black eyes, ears with ragged edges and dark insides. There were three whiskers on each side of its face, and it has short arms with three-fingered hands and webbed feet with three toes.

Upon materializing onto the battlefield, Raticate let out a mighty roar.

"Rati...CAAAATE!"

After seeing this, all of Gary's cheerleaders immediately starting cheering again.

"Raticate, Raticate, he's our man! If he can't win this nobody can! Goooo, Raticate!"

"O-Oh yeah..." Ash muttered angrily, looking on at the rat Pokemon. "I forgot...We're allowed to use two Pokemon..."

"That's right, Ashy-Boy," Gary sneered, confident in his abilities despite the fact that his rival was in the lead. "Wartortle may have been my starter, but let's be honest: That thing's weak. Once it evolves it'll be strong, though. But Raticate? Oh boy, fighting it will be a treat for you! It's my best Pokemon, and is in the top percentage of Raticate, haha! Definitely my ace."

"Top-percentage or not, we'll beat it!" Ash exclaimed, raising his fist excitedly. He and his partner had just surpassed all odds and had beaten Wartortle. He was feeling a lot more confident about his chances of winning now. Looking down at Scorbunny, he asked "You ready, buddy?"

The Fire-type smirked back at him, giving him a thumbs-up. "Scor...Bunny..."

Sure, the little guy was tired from its last battle, but Scorbunny wasn't the kind to shy away from a fight. Besides, if Ash returned Scorbunny, he'd only have Mankey left to use and, well, we all know how Mankey can be when it comes to obeying Ash's orders...

"Let's just get this over with," Gary smirked, putting one hand in his pocket. "Raticate, you know the drill. Use Take Down!"

Raticate immediately started zooming towards Scorbunny. This was the move Take Down. It was like Tackle, however, it was much more powerful, and even damaged the user a little bit due to this added power.

However, Ash was still grinning from ear to ear. After managing to make a comeback and defeat Gary's Wartortle, he was confident that he could work the same kind of magic and miraculously get a win against his Raticate using a similar tactic. He was completely unaware that Gary wasn't bluffing. Raticate truly was the best Pokemon in his arsenal.

"Just do what you did last time, buddy!" Ash exclaimed excitedly. "Use Quick Attack to dodge the incoming attack, and then hit Raticate when you get the chance!"

Scorbunny nodded, fully expecting Ash's plan to work. It immediately started zooming from left to right at incredible speeds, dodging Raticate.

This, however, didn't phase Gary in the slightest because, unbeknownst to Ash, the grandson of Professor Oak was expecting the raven-haired boy to try doing something like this again.

"Typical Ash. As stupid as usual!" Gary thought to himself, smirking. "Alright, Raticate. Cancel your Take Down, and instead use Swift!"

Raticate immediately stopped in its tracks and instead activated its Swift attack. It turned towards Scorbunny, who still zooming around from left to right, and opened its mouth wide.

Yellow stars zoomed out of its mouth and towards Scorbunny. However, Ash was least bothered.

"It's alright, Scorbunny. Just use your speed to dodge those stars, just like last time!" Ash commanded to his partner with a grin. "Gary's clearly all talk!"

"Scor-Bun!" the Fire-type nodded before speeding up and dodging the stars, which zoomed off into the forest. The little Fire-type then came to a stop and rubbed its nose confidently. "Bun-Bun Scor!..."

"Alright! Nice work, buddy!" Ash exclaimed, giving his partner a thumbs-up. "Just keep on dodging those attacks like that and we've got this battle in the bag, haha!"

This exchange simply caused Gary to smirk.

Crossing his arms, the cocky trainer said "Sorry Ash, but you've screwed up."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Ash responded, raising an eyebrow. "Scorbunny dodged the attack, and-"

Suddenly, out of absolutely nowhere, the stars that Raticate had fired off, which had previously been sent into the forest, came zooming backwards and towards Scorbunny! Since this was such a surprising turn of events, the little bunny Pokemon didn't have enough time to dodge the attack!

"Scorbunny no! Watch out!" Ash exclaimed loudly.

"Scor-" the bunny Pokemon started, but was immediately cut off by the incoming attack.

KA-BOOM!

A large cloud of smoke appeared as the stars made contact with Scorbunny's body. And, when the dust settled...

…Scorbunny was out for the count!

"What?! No way!..." Ash exclaimed as he ran over to his partner. He gently picked up the Fire-type to make sure it was okay. "Are you alright, Scorbunny?..."

The Fire-type looked up at its trainer and weakly smiled. "Scor..."

"There's no need to be sorry, buddy. You did your absolute best!" Ash exclaimed as he took out Scorbunny's Pokeball and lightly tapped it against the Fire-type's forehead, causing it to return to the device. "Now take a long, well-deserved rest."

He then looked at his rival, and asked "What was that, Gary? Scorbunny clearly dodged that attack, so how did it come back?..."

"Its simple, you doofus," Gary smirked as he confidently walked over to his Raticate. His squad immediately started cheering as he crouched down next to the rat Pokemon and fed it a little treat. Rubbing its head, he continued. "Swift is a move that never misses. Even if you manage to dodge it, it'll find a way to come back and bite you in the butt. Using that cheap trick of trying to use Quick Attack to dodge my attacks didn't work, haha!"

"He's right, Ash!" Lillie called out to her friend, causing him to look at her. She was pretty smart when it came to Pokemon. "Swift is a special-attacking Normal-type move, just so you know. It literally never misses, and will always find a way to hit the opponent!"

"O-Oh, I see..." Ash responded dejectedly, looking downwards. Gary always knew so much more then him about Pokemon, mostly due to the fact that his grandfather was one of the world's best researchers. "A move that never misses, huh? I didn't know something like THAT existed..."

"Well, send out your next Pokemon," Gary commanded, catching Ash's attention. "You've got another partner, right? Use THAT one to try and beat me!"

"I-I think I'll just forfeit..." Ash sighed, his head hung low. He hated the words that came out of his mouth. "My other Pokemon's a Mankey, and I would have loved to use it...The only problem is that it never listens to me, though..."

This immediately caused Gary to burst out laughing. "Wow, haha! Man, you are SO bad! An incredibly weak Pokemon and a Pokemon that won't listen to you? You suck, Ashy-Boy!"

Ash simply clenched his fists at Gary's remarks. He wasn't going to let his words impact his future his a Pokemon trainer, but they still stung a little.

Lillie, who was watching all of this unfold, could only mutter to herself in amazement.

"Wow, Gary is such an amazing trainer..." she thought to herself aloud. "He's really talented, and knows a lot about Pokemon. Combined with the fact that his Pokemon are incredibly strong...He could end up winning the Pokemon League..."

"You're right, Lillie," Brock stated in response. His arms were crossed, and he was standing next to her. "He, Green, and Red are all amazing rivals for Ash to work towards."

"Yeah..." Lillie muttered in response.

Immediately, Lillie spun to the side to look at the former Gym Leader.

"Wait a minute! How long were you standing there for?! You could've stopped this battle from happening!" she exclaimed.

Brock simply scratched his cheek in response. "Hehe, sorry...I guess I could have, huh?..."

"Expose me to the world? Bring me to justice?" Kraven asked, grinning evilly. "You're just a child! What are you going to do, call the cops on me? Grow up!"

"My age doesn't really matter, and the fact of the matter is that I could actually call the authorities on you if I wanted to," Spider-Man quickly responded, narrowing his eyes. He then smirked under his mask and raised his fists, ready to fight. "However, I don't need to. I'm the amazing Spider-Man, and I'm going to bring you to justice!"

Seeing as to how the superhero was ready to fight, Kraven simply smirked as well and got into a much more sophisticated fighting stance. "Spider-Man? What are you, some sort of superhero? We have none of those here in Kanto. That's why criminal organizations like Team Rocket run rampant here. Go home, kid. This is a battle you can't win!"

Confident in his abilities, however, the wallcrawler simply chuckled in response. "Since you're so confident, I'll let you have the first attack, Kraven."

This caused the hunter to turn his gaze into a glare. "You will regret that. I will show you the might of the mightiest hunter in the world!"

The evil celebrity dashed towards Spider-Man with a speed that was similar to the one that he had used to sneak up on Tangela earlier. To a normal person, this would have been an incredible issue.

But to a superhero like Spider-Man?

It was a piece of cake to dodge.

"Oops," the superhero smirked as he took a step to the right, avoiding the hunter with ease. "I accidentally moved to the right. Want another go?"

"What?! How did you do that?" Kraven genuinely asked in surprise, turning his head to look at the superhero. "I'm the best hunter in the world...Nobody should be able to dodge my attack!"

"Huh, really? Sure doesn't look like it!" the wallcrawler quipped with a laugh. "I guess you're not as good as you thought, haha!"

"Grrr! You insolent brat!"

Kraven charged in, and even pulled out his spear, which was on his back. He tried to attack our favorite superhero with it, but he was clearly struggling, since Spider-Man was able to dodge each and every one of the incoming attacks with little to no effort at all.

"Ouch, you looked stronger on set," Peter stated as he dodged yet another attack, before grabbing Kraven's spear and yanking it away from him. "And I'll be taking that away from you, sir. Children shouldn't be playing around with sharp toys!"

"You dare mock me, child?!" Kraven angrily asked as he stopped in his place and raised his fist, shaking it angrily at the hero.

"To be completely honest? Yeah!" the wallcrawler quickly responded as he tossed the spear away, grinning underneath his mask. "What are you going to do, sue me? Face it, man. You're just a rich guy that wanted to become richer, so you started taking part in some bad activities. Seriously, not only did you inject a wild Pokemon with an anesthetic, but then you decided to take part in criminal activities! Criminal! Activities! Wasn't the money that you earned from your show enough for you? Why would you need more?"

"Well, since you asked..." Kraven started, before taking out a syringe that was filled with a purple liquid. "I was doing it to buy this beautiful item."

The spider-themed hero blinked twice before raising an eyebrow. "Uh, what is that?"

"This is a special performance-enhancing serum that I bought off of the Black market. It was created using the blood of some of the most powerful Pokemon on the planet, and its obviously very expensive!" Kraven explained as he clutched the syringe tightly. He knew that his opponent would pounce at the opportunity to take the syringe away from him, so he obviously held it very closely and firmly. "I use the money that I earn from my sold Pokemon to buy these for myself..."

"Wow, so you're some sort of drug addict? What a weirdo..." Spider-Man muttered. "Buying those kinds of things off of the Black Market is just wrong. And the fact that its made out of the blood of Pokemon? Ugh, gross!"

"There's obviously a reason for my purchases, you fool," Kraven angrily told the hero, before shifting his gaze back to the syringe. "As a child, I was born into a family of hunters. However, no matter how good I was, I was always one step behind my siblings. They were always better then me, and I thought it was going to be that way forever. That's why I ran away and started a TV show. Not only to earn some money, but to also refine my skills..."

"But where does the drug come in?" Spider-Man asked, genuinely confused.

"If you could remain silent for a moment, perhaps I could tell you," Kraven stated bitterly. "You see, my family quickly caught wind of my journey into the television industry and ridiculed me for it. Not only was it pathetic of me to try and practice my hunting skills on a show, but I was also hunting some pretty weak Pokemon. Rare, but weak. I was devastated, and was convinced I would never be a good hunter. But then, I heard of this special drug...And my life changed forever."

"How so?"

"I took it, and it's like I became a whole new person..." Kraven muttered as he stared intently at the liquid in the syringe, his facial expression turning from a super-serious one to one that had an extra large grin. "Like I could do anything..."

"So you're an addict," Spider-Man interjected as he shot a web at the syringe in an attempt to take it away from Kraven. "I have no idea what that drug of yours does, or whatever happened to your family, but I honestly don't wanna know. Let me just take that syringe away from you so that I can-"

"NO!" Kraven bellowed, grinning as he grabbed the web and tossed it to the side, surprising the spider-themed superhero with his skills. This was basically just a reminder that, although Kraven really was just a regular human being, he was still a professional hunter that knew how to fight really well. "After taking this drug, I was able to do battle against powerful Pokemon like Charizard and Dragonite! But the best part about it all?..."

He proceeded to inject into his neck, before letting out a scream and collapsing to his knees. In reality, Kraven had only ever injected himself with small doses of this serum. However, he recognized the threat that Spider-Man was and decided to inject the entire thing into himself.

Big mistake.

Peter watched in horror as Kraven the hunter changed from human to, well, whatever he had become...

I mean, sure, he still looked like a human, but his transformation was pretty gross. His muscles expanded and contracted in a disgusting manner, settling on an incredibly large size. He was also increasing in size too.

"Okay, this is just gross..." Peter muttered as he took a step back and watched as Kraven stood up straight.

Cracking his neck from left to right, the hunter grinned at the superhero evilly.

"I WAS ABLE TO ANNIHALATE EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT EVER UNDERESTIMATED ME!" he bellowed before erupting into a mad fit of laughter. It was obvious that this drug had increased his strength, but it was also obvious that it was taking a toll on his mental health as well. "I KILLED MY SIBLINGS WHO ALWAYS LAUGHED AT ME, AND NOW? I WILL DESTROY YOU FOR DARING TO TRY AND EXPOSE ME!"

His Spider-Sense immediately went off, but before he could even react, Kraven dashed at Peter and slammed him into the wall of the cargo bed with such a force that the wallcrawler ended up falling through it and outside.

Landing on the floor, he thought to himself in complete shock. "Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap! What the heck just happened?! Did he use that drug on himself?! He's so much stronger! Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!..."

Immediately again, his Spider-Senses went off once more. He looked to the right and saw Kraven jumping through the hole that he had created. He landed in front of the wallcrawler, grinning from ear to ear.

His speed was so much higher, contradicting the fact that he should have been much more slower due to his increased bulk.

"I AM GOING TO ENJOY RIPPING YOU APART, SPIDER-MAN!" the mentally-insane hunter laughed as he made his way towards Spider-Man, who was too shocked to even think about moving.

Peter gulped and thought to himself.

"Aw man! I've screwed up!..."

Gary was smirking at Ash, who kind of just glared at him in response. Wartortle had been healed, and was standing next to Gary happily. The grandson of Professor Oak had single-handedly proven that he was the better Pokemon trainer, and the raven-haired boy didn't really know what to do.

Brock and Lillie were there, along with Kabutops, but the three of them chose to remain silent so that they could watch the whole thing unfold. Sure, Lillie had told Brock to try and diffuse the situation, but due to the fact that he was a firm believer that younger people should try solving their problems on their own at first, he decided to just watch. This was a bit surprising to Lillie, since he was usually a level-headed guy. However, it also made a little bit of sense, considering how he had many little brothers and sisters.

"So, what are you gonna do now?" Gary asked with a smirk. "I'd suggest returning back to Pallet Town, Ashy-Boy. You stand no chance against me! If we end up meeting in the league, you're toast! Just go home, haha!"

Wartortle looked up at its trainer with a raised eyebrow. It didn't like how he was berating Ash, and was wondering why he was doing that. "Wartortle?..."

"Oh shut up, Wartortle," Gary told the Water-type coldly. "I would've lost that match if Raticate didn't clean up the mess you made. Jeez, I'm just waiting for you to evolve into a Blastoise. Maybe THEN you'll be strong enough for my ultimate team!"

Ash looked up angrily at Gary, along with Brock and Lillie. They didn't really like how Gary was treating his Pokemon.

"Hey, you shouldn't be talking to your Pokemon like that, Gary," Brock told the grandson of Professor Oak sternly, walking towards him. "Just because Wartortle lost doesn't mean you have to-"

However, out of nowhere, Spider-Man came flying in and was sent crashing into a tree that was right between the two conflicting parties!

"Woah, it's some guy in tights. What the heck?" Gary asked in surprise, raising an eyebrow at the odd sight.

However, Ash and his friends were all familiar with the individual who had crashed in.

"Spider-Man!" the three of them exclaimed in unison, shocked by the sudden appearance of the spider-themed superhero.

"Oh...H-Hey, you three..." the wallcrawler muttered as he slowly got to his feet, using the tree to help him stand up. He used the tree as support with one hand, and was holding his head in the other. He was in pretty bad shape, and there were a few cuts present on his costume here and there. "F-Funny how we keep bumping into each other, right?..."

"Who?" Gary asked as he and his cheerleaders look on in confusion.

"He's a superhero that fights against crime," Brock explained to Gary, before shifting his attention back to the superhero. "But what are you doing here? Are you fighting with another supervillain?"

"W-Well, to be honest-" Spidey started, before his Spider-Senses immediately starting going off like crazy. "E-Everyone get down!"

Kraven immediately dashed in, punching Spider-Man in the gut and knocking the wind out of him. The villain completely ignored the innocent bystanders that were present, and simply smirked before he started attacking the hero with a barrage of punches.

"AHAHAHA! TAKE THIS, AND THIS, AND THIS!" the hunter screamed at the top of his lungs, finding a sadistic pleasure in beating the hero to a pulp. "YOU WERE ABLE TO WITHSTAND ME AT MY NORMAL STATE, SIMPLY PROVING THAT YOU ARE THE GREATEST PREY OF ALL! HOWEVER, EVERY PREY IS HUNTABLE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER WHEN YOU ARE AS MIGHTY AS KRAVEN! HAHAHAHA!"

"EEEEK! There's a big, scary, and hairy man! And he's attacking this weirdo in red and blue! It's so scary!" Gary's cheerleaders all exclaimed in unison, comedically horrified by the situation.

"Sh-Shut up!" Gary yelled to the cheerleaders, attempting to make sense of what was going on. "What the heck?..."

"I-Is that Kraven the hunter?!" Lillie asked in shock. "Why is he so large?!"

"G-Go and find help!..." Spider-Man instructed, ignoring all of their questions, before receiving yet another gut punch. "AGH! Th-There's no time to explain, so just go!..."

Kraven then comedically lifted up the superhero and threw him some distance away, before immediately following the body. He had clearly lost it.

"W-We need to get help!" Lillie exclaimed, concerned. "Right, guys?"

"Agreed," Brock responded firmly. "I have no idea about what's going on with Kraven, but Spider-Man saved our lives back when A.I.M attacked us. We owe it to ourselves to help him in whatever way we can!"

Ash had a similar answer. He was still a bit bummed out about his loss to Gary, but he wasn't going to let it cloud his judgement when it came to helping others. "Yeah, you guys are right. Spider-Man's in trouble, but I don't think we can help, or at least, I can't...Scorbunny's knocked out, and Mankey won't listen to me..."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Ashy-Boy," Gary stated, waving his hand dismissively at the raven-haired boy. "You'd probably fail epically anyways, haha!"

"Gary, please help us! We're scared!" his cheerleaders cried out in unison, causing his eye to twitch.

"Well I told you to wait in the car, didn't I?!" he angrily asked the cheerleaders, who all meekly nodded in response.

"Y-Yes..."

"Then SCRAM!"

They all immediately rushed away to the car to wait for their master to arrive. Gary simply sighed, shook his head, and looked back at our heroes. "So, what were we talking about?"

Ash, Lillie, Brock, and his Kabutops all stared at Gary, who was acting as if he didn't just yell at his personal cheerleading squad.

"Dude. That was so uncool," Brock told Gary while shaking his head. He then proceeded to look at Gary firmly, before his facial expression slowly contorted to a more perverted one. "Hehe, if I had that many fans, I'd let them slobber me with kisses every single day, hehe!..."

"Well, I'm better then you, so I don't really care," Gary responded, rolling his eyes. He truly was an incredibly big jerk. He treated Pokemon like tools for battle instead of as friends, he yelled and insulted pretty much everyone, even if they were his fans, and he was overall just an unpleasant person to be around.

"Well if you're so great, Gary, how about YOU go help Spider-Man out?" Ash angrily asked his rival as he crossed his arms and glared at the boy. "Or are you too afraid?"

"Afraid? In your dreams, Ashy-Boy!" the grandson of Professor Oak laughed. "I just don't want to risk my life trying to save someone I don't even know. I WOULD have reported this to the authorities, but the next police station is a few miles away, so...Yeah, that guy's totally gonna die."

"War-Tortle..." Gary's partner muttered quietly, since it wasn't exactly a fan of his words.

"ENOUGH!" Brock exclaimed, finally taking control over the situation. "Ash, Gary, we all appreciate your little rivalry, but right now, you need to STOP FIGHTING!"

"F-Fine..." Ash muttered as he crossed his arms and looked to the right.

"W-Whatever!..." Gary exclaimed under his breath as he also crossed his arms and looked towards the left.

Lillie nodded at Brock, looking smug. "So NOW you decide to take action, huh?..."

Brock chuckled and scratched his cheek. "Hey, it was getting pretty annoying, so I had to do SOMETHING..."

However, he quickly shook his head and regained his composure. He was probably the most calm and collected of the group, so he had to take matters into his own two hands.

"Well guys, I'm not really sure what we can do to help Spider-Man... But I think we should still help in anyway we can," the Rock-type specialist stated firmly. Spider-Man was a good person in his book, and for him to die would be quite a shame. "I have no idea where Peter is, but for now, let's go alert the director of Kraven's behavior. Maybe he'll be able to do something!"

"That's a good idea, Brock," Lillie grinned, before looking at the truck that housed the director. "Let's go!"

Ash, Lillie, Brock, and Kabutops all rushed over, while Gary simply sighed.

"Alright, fine," he groaned as he followed the group of good guys, putting his hands in his pockets. "I guess I'll come too..."

Wartortle was the last one, and followed behind its trainer excitedly.

"War-Tortle War!"

Once again, Peter crashed into a nearby tree. However, this time he couldn't get up. The pain was just absolutely unbearable this time.

"Bulbasaur...Or Joltik..." Peter thought to himself as he tried to reach for one of his Pokeballs. However, he just couldn't do it. Whatever Kraven had injected himself with was so incredibly powerful that the spider-themed superhero was so hurt that he couldn't even move his arms. "Dang it...I let my cockiness get the best of me... And now this is going to happen..."

"HAHAHAHA, SPIDER-MAN," Kraven started as he cracked his knuckles, walking towards the superhero. In reality, he could've just sped to him in less then a second. However, the evil celebrity was taking his sweet time, mostly so that he could make the experience as agitating for our hero as possible. "NOBODY MESSES WITH KRAVEN...NOBODY!"

"Dang it...If only I was stronger..." Peter dejectedly thought to himself as Kraven raised his arms, ready to slam them down onto Peter and end his life. "I was expecting a celebrity who was just of average strength...Not...Not this weirdo with irregularly large muscles..."

"THIS IS THE END!" Kraven screamed as he brought his hands down, both of them clenched into fists.

Peter shut his eyes tightly. "Joltik...Professor Oak...I'm sorry, everyone..."

"What's going on? Am I dead? I didn't feel an impact, though..."

There was no pain. In fact, the wallcrawler was hearing...The sound of grunting?

Slowly, Peter opened one eye. "Uh, am I dead? Are these the kinds of sounds that you hear when you die? Weird..."

"M-MY ARMS!..." Kraven exclaimed angrily. "I-I CAN'T...I CAN'T MOVE THEM!..."

Looking up, Peter was completely shocked by what he saw. There were vines coming out of nowhere, and they were wrapped firmly around Kraven's arms, keeping Peter out of harm's way.

"V-Vines?...But where did they come from?...Ash, Brock, and Lillie don't own any Grass-types..." Peter genuinely thought to himself. Kraven growled at him as he slowly got up to his feet, however, the spider-themed superhero chose to ignore him for the time-being and looked behind the hunter. Despite the pain he was feeling, his eyes widened. "That Pokemon!..."

The Pokemon that had saved Peter was none other then the Tangela from earlier!

"T-Tangela!..." the little Grass-type exclaimed as it struggled to keep Kraven from breaking out of its grip. "T-Tang!..."

Realizing that Kraven was about to break free from any moment, and the fact that Tangela was still a little hurt, Peter decided to make the decision to run towards the Grass-type. Battling through the pain, he crouched down and grabbed hold of the Pokemon. "Hey...Little guy. I appreciate what you're doing, so thanks for that...But I got this, alright?"

"Tang-Tang?" the Pokemon asked, looking up at the superhero with a concerned look. "Tangela?..."

"I-I know It looks bad...But trust me, I'll be fine," the superhero told the Pokemon before wincing in pain a little bit. This was a cause of concern for the wild Grass-type, but the spider-themed superhero quickly shoved the concerns of the wild Pokemon aside. "Hey, don't worry about that...I've got superpowers, and one of them is a natural healing factor... See all of these scars that Kraven gave me? They're going to heal in a few minutes, but for the time being, I've just gotta hold out...Understand?..."

Tangela slowly nodded as the superhero put him on the ground. "Tangela..."

"Right, now how about you retract your vines from Kraven's arms?... He's going to break through them any moment now, so you shouldn't risk your life and keep 'em out..." Spider-Man explained to the Pokemon. "I've got this, little guy..."

The Grass-type Pokemon was a bit concerned, but shook its head and looked at the superhero with a determined look. Sure, he wanted to help, but he trusted the superhero. He was risking his life to protect the little Pokemon from Kraven's villainous grasp. The least it could do was go ahead and do as Spider-Man said.

"Gela..." the Pokemon muttered as it slowly retracted its vines from Kraven's arms. The villain immediately took this as an opportunity to turn around and rush at Spider-Man once more.

"FOOL! I WILL KILL YOU IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO!" Kraven screamed.

"Alright...I guess I'll just get my Pokemon to help me out, and-" the superhero started as he reached for a Pokeball on his waist. However, he immediately winced in pain. "AGH! My...My arm hurts...Arceus damn it...I still need to heal...But I clearly can't beat Kraven alone...I need help..."

"WELL TOO BAD, BECAUSE YOU WON'T GET ANY!" Kraven exclaimed as he threw a punch towards the hero. Spidey just barely dodged the attack, before wincing in pain once more. The pain itself was bad enough, but his Spider-Sense was going crazy due to all of the danger that Kraven was creating! The ringing in the hero's head was enough to make any sane person go mad.

"What do I do, what do I do?..." the spider-themed hero thought to himself worriedly. "I am positively screwed...There's no way I can-"

Suddenly, however, a vine came out of nowhere and grabbed one of the Pokeballs on his waist. The vine then tossed the ball away, allowing the Pokemon within to appear. It was Joltik, and the little Electric-type was ready for battle!

"Joltik Jol!"

"Joltik?...But how did?..." Spider-Man started, before it clicked. He quickly moved his attention to Tangela, who was looking at him with a determined expression. "Did you do this, Tangela?"

The Grass-type nodded happily, yet firmly. Sure, Peter wanted the little guy to run away, but he wasn't going to. He needed help, and Tangela was going to give it in whatever way it could.

"Tangela Tang!" the Pokemon exclaimed. "Tang Tang Tangela!"

Joltik looked at its trainer confusedly. Since it could understand Pokemon speak, it could understand that Tangela really wanted to assist Peter with his duties. Sure, in terms of power it wasn't the best, but apart from that? Tangela had a wide range of abilities that it could bring to the table!

"Jol Jol Joltik!" the Spider Pokemon told its trainer, trying to change his mind regarding Tangela's involvement in the battle against Kraven.

"I don't know, Joltik..." the spider-themed hero replied genuinely. "My wounds are finally starting to heal, and you and I could really just do this on our own. We really don't need to bring an innocent Pokemon into the mix..."

"Tangela!" the Grass-type interjected firmly.

"Hm...Fine, let me think, here..." Spider-Man muttered, before sighing. He looked at Tangela, and grinned at the little guy under his mask. "Alright, fine. Let's do this together. All three of us. HOWEVER, the moment I sense that there's danger, I'm ordering Joltik to get you outta here. Understood?"

Joltik responded with a quick and respectful nod while Tangela replied with an excited one.

"Jol-Tik!"

"Tangela Tang!"

Spider-Man nodded and turned towards Kraven, who was glaring at him and his buddies. Sure, he was hurting all over, but he was going to get better later. Right now, though, our hero needed to make this celebrity pay for his crimes. Selling Pokemon was one thing, but selling them for drugs just so that you inevitably earn more money? He could never forgive that.

Of course, his pain was too much to bear. He couldn't fight Kraven alone in that state. That was why he brought out Joltik. His trusted partner was surely going to be able to help him beat Kraven. And, although he originally wanted Tangela to leave and get to safety, he was actually a little bit happy that the Grass-type had stuck around to help them out. Kraven was incredibly strong in his current state, and Peter was going to need all of the help that he could get if he wanted to beat him.

"Let's do this! Kraven, we're taking you down!" Spider-Man declared confidently. "Me, Joltik, and Tangela! All three of us!"

"I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY, CHILD!" Kraven screamed before once again charging at our hero. He was using a much better battle style before, but now? The hunter was really just charging at the hero and hoping that he could crush him under his might. Sure, the serum had increased his muscle mass, but it was having a pretty bad effect on his mental health. He was slowly descending into madness. "I AM GOING TO CRUSH YOU LIKE THE BUG-TYPE YOU ARE!"

Kraven was charging at the hero, but this time he didn't jump out of the way. He instead raised his arms and began shooting webs at the villain using his organic webbing. Joltik followed suit and used its String Shot attack against the villain. Tangela, however, obviously didn't have the ability to use a web-based move, since it was a Grass-type. However, it was able to use Vine Whip, so it decided to use that instead.

Thanks to the efforts of the three, they were able to momentarily subdue Kraven, who was stuck in place!

Webs from Peter, webs from Joltik, and vines from Tangela. They all were wrapped firmly around his body.

"HOW...DARE...YOU?!…" he angrily asked as he struggled to break free, but to no avail. "I...WILL MAKE YOU...SUFFER!..."

Spider-Man grinned at this and let out a sigh of relief. He looked down at the two Pokemon who helped him out and gave them a thumbs up. "Thanks guys, I really wouldn't have been able to do this without your help. I-"

Suddenly, however, his Spider-Sense started ringing and he jumped to the side once more, narrowly avoiding Kraven.

"Wh-What?!" the hero exclaimed in shock, before wincing in pain once more. "How did you do that?! How did you break free?!"

"IT'S SIMPLE, REALLY," Kraven smirked confidently. "I AM THE WORLD'S GREATEST HUNTER! AND YOU, SPIDER-MAN? YOU ARE MY PREY! I WON'T REST UNTIL I KILL YOU!"

"Oof, this guy is DEAD-set on ending my life, no pun intended," Peter thought to himself, trying to make the situation seem like a nicer one. "But how can I win? How can I possibly defeat this unbeatable foe?..."

However, cutting into his train of thought, the hero's Spider-Sense started ringing.

"NOW, PREPARE TO MEET YOUR END, SPIDER-MAN!" Kraven screamed as he pulled out a spear and threw it our hero. This was a complete shock to Spidey and the two Pokemon that were assisting him since they weren't expecting the hunter to use a weapon, especially considering how he had been relying on brute force instead of things like strategy or fighting style.

"Joltik Jol!" the Bug-Electric type exclaimed in a panic as it turned to look up at its trainer.

Due to the speed that the spear flew at, neither Spider-Man nor Joltik had enough time to react to the attack.

However, Tangela did. The little Grass-type knew the kind of person that Kraven was, and knew that he would do something wacky like this. That was why he was saving something special in his arsenal for a moment just like this one.

"Tang..."

Some of the vines on its body detached and glowed a bright purple. They also grew a bit larger in size, but nothing too substantial.

"...GELA!"

Immediately the vines crashed onto the ground, causing a huge explosion of dust into the air. This also caused the spear to fly wildly off-course and land into some random area in the forest, easily saving Peter and Joltik.

"Jol-Tik Tik!"

"Woah, you're right, Joltik! That was Power Whip!" Spider-Man exclaimed in complete surprise as he turned to look at the wild Pokemon. "I wasn't expecting Tangela to know such a powerful move...But thanks, Tangela! You really saved me there!"

"Tang Tang!" the Grass-type exclaimed, happy to have saved Spider-Man's life. He had grown to really respect the hero, and was obviously going to do anything its power to help protect him, just like he had done for it.

"WHAT'S GOING ON?! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Kraven screamed trying to find the trainer and Pokemon in the large cloud of smoke that had formed. "WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU, I'LL GRIND YOU INTO DUST MYSLEF, SPIDER-MAN!"

"Tik Tik Jol!" Peter's Electric-type partner exclaimed, with the dust still up. The little Spider Pokemon wanted its trainer to take advantage of the large dust cloud.

"I hear you loud and clear, buddy," the superhero stated with a grin. He aimed his arms at Kraven, who was still struggling to find him. "But this time, we're gonna have to hit him harder then before. Joltik, you should use Thundershock. And Tangela, I know I'm not your trainer, but use Power Whip again. Hopefully this time we can subdue him!"

Tangela immediately nodded. "Gela!"

However, Joltik wasn't so thrilled about this plan. "Joltik..."

Peter was hurt, and now he was going to web up Kraven all on his own? Joltik didn't feel comfortable allowing its trainer to do that.

However, the spider-themed superhero quickly told his buddy that there was nothing to worry about.

"Don't worry, Joltik, I'll be fine," Spider-Man explained to his smallest yet strongest partner. "When you're a hero...These kinds of things are bound to happen. My life will be put on the line, and there IS a high chance that I will die. HOWEVER, I shouldn't let that stop me! With great power comes great responsibility... And my responsibility is to beat Kraven! However, I can't do that if you and Tangela don't follow up with my plan. So please, Joltik. Will you follow my orders and use Thundershock instead of String Shot?"

Joltik thought for a moment, before nodding slowly. The little Electric-type knew Peter better then anybody. He was smart, and if he had a plan, then Joltik was going to follow it. "Joltik...Joltik Jol!"

This caused Peter to smile. "Thanks, buddy."

The trio then turned their attention to Kraven, who was still tumbling around in the smoke in a desperate attempt to look for them. It was really ironic how he was a hunter of wild and crazed Pokemon, yet now he was acting like a wild and crazed animal. "WHERE ARE YOU, SPIDER-MAN?! COME OUT, COME OUT, WHEREVER YOU ARE!"

"Alright, guys... Let's do this! On the count of three! One...Two..." Peter paused for a moment, allowing the two Pokemon to get ready. Then, he aimed his wrists at Kraven before yelling "...Three!"

Immediately, Spidey let out his organic webbing, surprising the hunter. It wrapped firmly around Kraven's body, and Peter made sure to release a lot of webs so that he could keep Kraven tied up for good this time.

Noticing the hero, the hunter snarled. "YOU THINK YOUR PUNY WEBS CAN HOLD ME, SPIDER?! THERE ARE EVEN LESS THEN LAST TIME! ARE YOU MORONIC?!"

"Nope, I just like forming weird and wacky plans," the hero quipped in response, before immediately pointing at Kraven and yelling "Alright, guys! Let's do it! Joltik! Tangela! Unleash your power NOW!"

Joltik immediately let out the strongest Thundershock that it could, and Tangela unleashed its busted Power Whip attack. Joltik's electricity, as well as Tangela's large vines, immediately collided with Kraven, resulting in yet another explosion of power.

This one was so intense that it caused the cloud of dust that was around them to immediately disperse. Peter put an arm in front of his face, but he eventually let it down to see Kraven's current situation. It was...Odd, to say the least.

He was still unusually muscular due to the serum that he had injected himself with, however, his muscles were now spasming, and were increasing and decreasing in size in quite a gross manner. Peter's webs were gone, but that was because they were destroyed by Tangela and Joltik's attacks. The hunter was panting heavily, and he was covered in bruises due to Tangela's Power Whip. Electricity coursed through his body due to Joltik's Thundershock as well.

"N-NO!..." the hunter panted angrily. "I...AM...THE GREATEST...Hunter...In...The...World!...This...Won't...Stop...Me...Ugh...I...Will..."

Kraven then collapsed onto the floor, exhausted and unconscious.

Spidey looked on for a moment with a serious expression. He stared at Kraven's body. It was completely shocking when he unleashed that special serum of his, so the spider-themed superhero was on his toes in case the hunter had another trick up his non-existent sleeves.

However, it looked like Kraven really was out for the count.

This caused Peter to grin under his mask, before immediately collapsing onto the floor and looking up at the sky happily. "Woohoo! YES! Thank ARCEUS that's over, haha!"

Joltik and Tangela immediately went besides him, wanting to make sure he was alright. However, the superhero was more then alright. He was great! His strongest opponent was probably the Green Goblin, but Kraven was DEFINITELY a close second. In Peter's mind, if he could beat this guy, he could beat anyone.

"You guys did great," Peter stated as he looked at the two Pokemon that had assisted him. He stroked Joltik's fur white still laying on the ground, before shifting his attention to Tangela. "Oh, and thank you, Tangela. I know you're not my Pokemon and all, but I really appreciate how you helped us out. I never expected you to be so powerful, though! You certainly were a big help..."

Tangela looked happily at the hero in response. "Tangela Tang!"

Peter chuckled at the Grass-type's enthusiasm before looking upwards and sighing happily. "Man, we did it. The only bad thing is that I know have to go all the way back there and bring Kraven with me, hahaha!..."

"What? Spider-Man? And he's fighting Kraven? What are you talking about? I'm a busy man, so don't waste my time with these little jokes, you kids!"

It was the time of sunset, and Ash, Lillie, Brock, Kabutops, Gary, and Wartortle had explained to the director and Sasha what they had seen. However, they were having a bit of a hard time believing what the group was saying.

"But we're telling the truth," Lillie spoke up. "We saw Kraven, and his body seemed unnaturally large. He was fighting against the superhero Spider-Man, and he seemed to be-"

"Seemed to what?" Sasha angrily interjected, putting her hands on her hips. "My Kraven would never do anything bad! He's a wholesome TV star with a bad past. He would never commit a crime, so I don't know why a superhero would be fighting him. Besides, isn't Spider-Man just a myth?"

"Hey, I don't really care about this group, but they're telling the truth," Gary stated off-handedly, with one hand in his pocket. "We saw some weirdo in tights crash into a tree, and then we saw Kraven pounce onto him. The weird thing, however, is that Kraven's body was really big, and he was really strong too. He threw the guy in tights miles away!"

Gary and Lillie were explaining everything to Sasha and the director, with Brock and Ash pretty much remaining silent. Brock was quiet because he was admiring Sasha like a total creep, but Ash was silent for a far more serious reason.

Gary had called him weak, and easily proved it by beating him with ease. Scorbunny was defeated so quickly, and he didn't even use Mankey out of fear that he couldn't control it!

Was Gary speaking the truth?

Was Ash a bad trainer?

"Maybe Gary's right..." the raven-haired boy sighed to himself. "I needed Lillie and Gary to tell me about Swift never missing, and Scorbunny was taken down so easily! And not only that, but Mankey won't even listen to me!...Should I just give up on my dreams of becoming a Pokemon Master?..."

However, Ash's depressing thoughts were immediately cut off by a female voice.

"Alright, what's going on here?!"

Everyone turned to the right to see an Officer Jenny walking towards them. She was accompanied by a menacing Arcanine.

"O-Officer Jenny?!" everyone exclaimed in unison. Sasha and the director were shocked because someone actually called the police, and everyone else was shocked because, well, they were going to call the police, but they were going to do it later. In other words, they hadn't called the police yet they came anyways.

However, the big question on their mind was: If they didn't call the cops, then who did?

"Yes, that's me," the police officer responded as she stopped and looked around. "We received an anonymous call that a supervillain was spotted in this area. Do any of you guys know anything about this?"

"W-What?" Lillie asked, surprised. "W-Well, we knew about the supervillain part, but we never made any calls."

"Neither did we, because Kraven did nothing wrong!" the director angrily exclaimed, stomping his foot onto the ground.

"Kraven?" Officer Jenny asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes! He's the star of our show, 'Kraven the Hunter', and these gosh-darn kids are convinced that he's a supervillain! Like, what?! Do they have any evidence?! What did he even do?! How about you produce something like that before making up these random accusations!" he angrily shouted.

"Yeah, agreed!" Sasha exclaimed as she crossed her arms.

"But he really DID do all of that stuff!..." Lillie exclaimed, before being cut off by Officer Jenny.

"Well, sorry kids, but they're kind of right," the officer stated with a chuckle as she turned her attention to the group. Scratching her cheek, she continued by saying "I know you guys didn't make the call, but you can't accuse someone without evidence. AND, since abusing the 911 service lines is punishable by law, I'm afraid I'm going to have to-"

"Wait!"

Everyone looked up and, to their surprise, it was Spider-Man who was swinging in!

"Woah, it's Spider-Man!" Brock exclaimed as he looked up, snapping out of his fantasies regarding Sasha and Officer Jenny. "And...Is that a person with him?!"

The superhero landed onto his feet perfectly, and stood near the group. He smiled at them all underneath his mask and said "Hey everyone!"

However, nobody really cared about him for the time being. Instead, everyone cared about the person that was with him. In his arms was none other then Kraven the Hunter!

"Agh! My poor, poor Kraven! Are you alright?!" Sasha asked her husband worriedly as the superhero dropped him onto the floor with little care. "You're not hurt are you? Oh my, he's not responding! Is he?..."

"Not dead, just unconscious," the superhero stated, earning a breath of relief from the woman.

However, she quickly turned angry and stood up to look at the wallcrawler.

"Well, why is he unconscious, then?!" she angrily asked. "I swear, if you did this out of malice I am going to-"

"Alright, alright, settle down, Miss," Officer Jenny commanded to Sasha, who reluctantly agreed. She then turned to Spider-Man himself, and raised an eyebrow at him. "But yeah, why DID you knock this guy out?"

"Pretty simple, really," the superhero responded, putting his hands on his hips. "This guy, Kraven, is a famous celebrity. He seemed like a nice guy at first but, underneath the surface, he was really a villain! He was using his show as an excuse to capture rare and valuable Pokemon. Then, he would sell 'em on the Black market, and use the money he earned through these practices to buy some special serum that made him stronger and better at hunting. If you don't believe me, just check his phone. I think he's still got it on him. He's called his client multiple times, and I'm sure he's got a few texts that you could analyze too..."

Our favorite hero basically explained everything, and everyone was shocked.

The director decided to immediately pull the show from television, since he truly was a good man and didn't know that Kraven was partaking in such bad activities while using his show as a cover up. His wife, Sasha, on the other hand, was absolutely devastated after learning what he had done and was trying to decide what to do with her life, now that she knew that Kraven was a villain.

Ash, Lillie, and Brock were all equally as surprised, but they were kind of expecting it, since they knew something was up from the moment they saw how Kraven hunted Pokemon. Gary was a bit disappointed with the outcome, as he really wanted to trade with Kraven. However, in the end, he decided that he could probably catch better Pokemon on his own anyways.

Speaking of Kraven, the hunter was immediately taken into police custody. After just a little bit of research, the police were able to discover that Spider-Man was in fact telling the truth, and that Kraven was participating in some criminal activities. As such, he was sent behind bars almost immediately. This was absolutely devastating for him.

All in all, it was a pretty fun day filled to the brim with action. However, it was soon time for our heroes to continue their journey. So, after saying goodbye to Sasha, the director, Officer Jenny, and Gary, our heroes set off...

LATER...

Ash, Brock, Lillie, and Peter were continuing their journey to Cerulean City. Lillie was still thinking about the events that had transpired that day, and was wondering why she had not seen Peter the entire time.

It was a bit weird that Peter always disappeared when Spider-Man showed up, but it had to be a coincidence, right?

She didn't know. However, she was still a bit curious.

"So, Peter, where were you this time?" Lillie asked, raising an eyebrow. "You missed out on everything... Again!"

"Yeah, Peter, it IS a bit weird how you always disappear when Spider-Man appears..." Brock pointed out, looking at the assistant of Professor Oak with a raised eyebrow. "Is there something you wanna tell us?"

"Uh, hehe, well, you know me," Peter chuckled, scratching his cheek with a nervous grin. He was literaly making his identity as clear as possible to everyone. He was being such a fool! "I accidentally, uh, got lost when travelling with all of those crazy Kraven fans, hehe..."

"Right..." Brock and Lillie muttered in unison, narrowing their eyes at the secret superhero. However, they didn't push the subject further, especially since something odd had been noticed by Lillie.

"Hey, wait a minute, Peter. Look at your waist!" she exclaimed, pointing out the amount of Pokeballs that the secret superhero had. "One, two, three! You have an extra Pokemon!"

"Huh? Yeah...You do!" Brock exclaimed. "Did you?..."

"Yup! I caught a new partner! In fact, I'll show you it right now!" Peter quickly responded confidently before throwing the new Pokeball in the air. He was pretty glad that he had found an excuse to change the topic. "Come on out, Tangela!"

Immediately, the Grass-type materialized in front of its trainer, and immediately started running around him excitedly. "Tang! Tang! Tangela!"

Truthfully, Peter had caught the Tangela that had helped him and Joltik defeat Kraven. It was a powerful Pokemon, and it had a strong sense of justice, just like Peter and Joltik. It was a no-brainer for Peter to catch it, especially considering the bond they had formed.

"Wow, a Tangela! They're really rare!" Lillie exclaimed as she crouched down to look at Peter's new capture. "They can only really be found in grassy areas, and are usually pretty weak. Because of that, they hide a lot. Its theorized that Tangela specifically evolved over time to have those vines on its body to help it blend into its surroundings, and-"

Brock did the same and had a similar grin on his face as well. However, he decided to cut off Lillie, since he knew that she really loved Pokemon trivia, and was probably going to go on and on about random facts regarding Tangela. "Yeah, Lillie's right! Anyways, congratulations on your capture, Peter!"

The secret superhero simply grinned and scratched the back of his head. "Haha, thanks guys! That means a lot..."

The only member of the group that wasn't congratulating Peter on his new capture was Ash.

He was lost in thought, and was looking down at a Pokeball in his hand. It was Scorbunny's Pokeball. He had a lot on his mind.

"Am I a weak trainer? Sure, I beat Green, but that one was really close and I only really pulled it off when she was distracted. I also couldn't beat Gary, and I've never actually beaten Red yet either," Ash bitterly thought to himself. "Should I just listen to what Gary said?..."

"I'd suggest returning back to Pallet Town, Ashy-Boy. You stand no chance against me! If we end up meeting in the league, you're toast! Just go home, haha!"

Ash clutched his fist. "I only have two Pokemon, while my rivals have so many! Also, only one my Pokemon actually listens to me!...Maybe I SHOULD just give up...I'm not that good of a trainer..."

"No, I can't. Not just yet!" he thought to himself as a smile slowly formed on his face. "I might not be a good trainer just yet, but I WILL become one soon! I'll prove to the world that I, Ash Ketchum, can become a Pokemon Master!"

He then proceeded to excitedly run past his companions, grinning.

"Come on, guys! We're almost at Cerulean City, so let's go!"

Peter, Brock, and Lillie all looked at each other with smirks before following their friend.

Ash wasn't a strong trainer, but he WAS going to improve. The wannabe Pokemon Master swore to himself on that day that, the next time he and Gary met, things would be different.

The next time they met, HE was going to be the stronger one.

And so, with a renewed passion for Pokemon battling, Ash, along with his friends, continued on their Pokemon journey!

PHEW! That was a long one, wasn't it?

Sorry this one took a while to create! School's started again, so I've been pretty busy with that. However, this is a pretty meaty chapter, so I think its fine. This was honestly one my favorite chapters that I've written so far, so I really hope you all enjoyed it. I've actually been planning this one since the very beginning!

Kraven is really just based off of his 616 counterpart when it comes to design and attitude. However, the show that he owns is inspired by the version that appears in the Ultimate Comics series. As for the whole serum kind of thing, that was purely an original idea of mine. I know its odd, but it'll become important for Kraven's inevitable return. After all, I'm not going to introduce a character and then forget about them!

Also, I know Tangela's a pretty weird choice for Peter, but I decided for it to be a sort of replacement for his Bulbasaur. Green already has the evolution for it, and a certain someone's going to get one in the future, so I decided to give him another Grass-type from the Kanto Region that uses vines, since it feels like too many people have a Bulbasaur. That's not to say he's going to abandon his Bulbasaur or anything. I've got plans for the Kanto starter, so stay tuned for that.

Kabutops is going to be this series' version of Misty/Max/Croagunk. However, instead of doing it because of anger, Kabutops drags Brock away from girls due to jealousy. He's really grown to love Brock, and doesn't want anyone else to be with him, haha!

Lastly, I decided to throw in Gary because I honestly felt like it would've been weird to introduce him any later on in the series. I wanted him and Ash to battle in Pallet Town, but I for some reason skipped out on that, so he's here now. I have some really surprising plans for Gary, so stay tuned for that.

Anyways, that's all for today, folks. In the next chapter, the gang will FINALLY arrive in Cerulean City. I'm going to say right off the bat that its going to be a more Lillie-focused chapter, since this chapter was more about Peter and the last one was more about Brock. Don't worry, though, cause Ash will get his time to shine, especially with his Gym Battle coming up! So...

Until next time!
