Beneath The Snow

Ch 01 Tears

"Wow! This place is covered in snow!" The small fairy said as she saw the beautiful snow covered land, she smiled and continued "It's so beautiful!"

"Careful little one, you might fall off and freeze to death" Said the smiling blue eyed redhead

"Paimon won't fall, because I can fly" said the young fairy proudly, she then snarked at the redhead "No need to worry about Paimon, Childe"

She then turned her view towards her petite blonde friend "LUMINEE!"

The blonde girl turned around and smiled "What is it Paimon?"

The small fairy replied "Childe is picking on me!"

Childe just laughs at the remark "I'm just playing with Paimon, are you enjoying the view, girlie?" he asked Lumine.

Lumine with little to no emotion replies "Yeah...it's alright..." she then continues to stare at the view as the boat was about to land.

Worried he asked "what's wrong, Lumi? You don't seem to excited coming to Snezhnaya, no backing down now though" he said smugly "Also…" he smiled "you Promised Teucer to visit him, you can't back down from a pinky promise, girlie!" he winked at the young blonde.

Lumine gave Childe a faint smile "Of course… Teucer is the only reason I am visiting this Fatui ridden land"

"Hey now girlie! You're breaking my heart…" while making a dramatic pose

"Ya know... This is Teucer's home after all as well, you better not be saying those things about Snezhnaya to him, you'll break his heart too" Said the redhead in a playful matter, he then became a bit more serious "But…Can you do me a favor?"

"Sure, what is it?" she replied

He silently said "Look, I don't know what is going on with you, but can you pretend to be okay in front of Teucer, please… He is really looking forward to see you"

She faintly smiled "Of course, that was my plan. I promised Teucer to visit him and I am gonna make sure he has the best time of his life while I'm here, he also gets to enjoy time with his "toy making" big brother I really would not want to ruin that for him."

He smiled "Good to know were on same terms, for now we are going to forget about what is going right now and focus on having fun"

"Oh of course…" she silently said

They then hear the ship's horn sounding off, the captain proceeds to announce through the speaker "Attention everyone, we are about to arrive in Snezhnaya, please gather your belongings as we prepare to land. If you come together with others please stay close to the party of people you boarded with. Thank you for ridding with us, we wish you a pleasant stay in Snezhnaya" The horn sounded once again as the ship prepares to stop at the Snezhnayan docks.

"Yay we are here!" Paimon said with rejoice "I can't wait to try all the yummy things Snezhnaya has to offer!"

"Whew! Finally we've arrived!" Childe said as he saw the ship come to a complete stop.

"I am so going to take a bath and ask the maids to make me my favorite dish, ya gotta try it girlie it's delicious! I could cook it myself but honestly I am super tired plus... we ar-" He went silent as he noticed the blonde girl wasn't paying attention to anything he was saying "Lumine?" he waved his hand in front of her face "Earth to Lumi! Your presence is required, comrade!"

She snapped out of her trance "I am sorry what were you saying?"

Annoyed he replied "Oh come on! Can you at least pretend a little bit, if you're going to be like that while you stay here, it's best you return to Liyue, I really don't want Teucer to see you like this, he has a very high image of "The amazing and nice traveler lady" ya know…"

"I..I'm..I'm sorry" she stutters as tears start to build in the corner of her golden eyes "I am so sorry…. I can never do anything right, I am always messing up… I always break promises" she said as she thought of her brother and the broken promise she made to him she then whispered "I couldn't save you…"

Confused Childe asked "What are you talking about? Who you couldn't save?" He then remembers "Oh…That's right…"

He saw that Paimon still hasn't noticed her best friend was clearly upset, not wanting to make a big commotion since he knew Lumine probably didn't want her fairy friend to worry about her, he right away started making a plan.

"Ekaterina!" he called

"Yes sir, what do you need?" The masked brunette girl in purple answered

"Please take Miss Paimon to my place in Morepesok , but before that… Here" he tossed her a bag of mora

"Here's 400k mora, take her to all the eateries Snezhnaya has to offer, but first go to the eateries at the third district those are the best and high end ones"

Paimon's eyes started beaming with happiness and excitement "WOW REALLY?! I get to go to every eatery here? You are so kind Childe, Paimon will never ever ever complain about you anymore!"

Confused Ekaterina asked "Sir what about you and the honorary knight?" she pointed at the blonde girl whose back they were facing.

He smiled "Oh…Me and the girlie have some things to talk about, so go on be on your way" he quickly wanted to dismiss Ekaterina before Paimon notices her friend is clearly upset.

"Yes sir! Let's go Miss Paimon" she said

"PLEASE LEAD THE WAY! Paimon can't wait to try every delicious treat… Heheheheheh! Yay! It's not every day Paimon gets to enjoy such delicacies" Paimon cheerfully replied without noticing anything else, all she could think about was the delicious food she will get to try on this land that is new to her.

Both she and Ekaterina went on their way, relieved Childe approached Lumine who was oblivious what was going on around her, all she could think about was the guilt and the sadness of her brother's passing.

Trying to comfort her he says "Look girlie it wasn't your fault… He went and joined the Abyss, you had no choice Lumine…" he then proceeds to hold her as tight as he could "None of this is your fault, girlie… If I could... If I could, I would take away all this pain you're feeling" he gave her a small kiss on the forehead

She starts to sob uncontrollably as she pushed him away, she turned towards the docks railing, leaning on them. She continued as she sobbed "But it is, had I been stronger back then I could have saved him from the Abyss... Also from her... I could have done so much but I was useless, while I was having a good time, he was in the darkness all by himself." She stopped all of the sudden and faked a smile she then said silently.

"By the way…. You're right, I don't want Teucer to see me like this… Please tell Paimon I had to leave due to an urgent matter" She starts heading towards the ticket booth, before she took any steps, he grabs her arm and pulls her towards him once again.

"Hey I was kidding… Lumine let's talk about this, I sent the little one away so we could have an open heart conversation between the two of us." He cooed as he continued "A few blocks from here there is this nice pastry shop, they make these delicious bread bowls, my favorite is the chowder one, don't worry about expenses during your stay here… Everything is on me!" he winked at the sad teary blonde girl, "The owner owes me a favor so I will go ahead and call him to rent the whole place so we can talk, what do you say? Would you like that?"

Lumine with tears in her eyes, empty and broken only agrees with a nod

He smiles "Then it's settled, let's get going" he grabs her by the arm and proceeds to go towards the direction of the eatery.
