This is a fun World-Fusion crossover between 'Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon' or 'DanMachi' for short, and RWBY. There will be some AU themes here, obviously due to the world fusion but even beyond that. For one, the Deities in this version actually CAN have kids. (I always found it really weird they couldn't in the original.) As for the Color naming rule, apparently I read somewhere that the lore behind that is a sort of cultural thing from after the Great War supporting liveliness or something along those lines. Of course I like that, but! things may be a little different here because of the introduction of new cultures thanks to the Deities joining Remnant. So not everyone may follow the color-naming rule, but most probably will, unless they are from the DanMachi series. I actually haven't yet decided who I'll use from the DanMachi series, if anyone in particular at all, or if it'll just be a bunch of OCs. But not everyone is a fan of OCs - I don't really want to make that many either, so I might bring in actual characters. Besides, I do like Bell Cranel, it's just this story will be focusing a little more heavily on Jaune Arc instead. Who won't be in the Hestia Familia. Also, creative liberty here, I may be using their names but I might change the personalities of the Deities in question I use, for anime-esque reasons. Other changes to the universes will have to be found out by reading.

I have absolutely no writing schedule and write when the muse knocks me in the back of the head. Which is far and few between. You've been warned.

Disclaimer (that I doubt I really need): I don't own DanMachi nor RWBY. DanMAchi is owned by Fujino Omori, and RWBY is owned by Rooster Teeth. (Can we pretend this Disclaimer is on every chapter of the foreseeable future?)

Warnings: Possible OOCness (more my writing style than anything intentional), and censored language. (This warning is for every chapter. Will increase if I encounter any need to.)

Jaune Arc grew up in a family with a long line of heroes. He knew that much, but his family seemed to purposely hide everything else about that particular Arc tradition when he started showing interests in following that same path.

It was night time when he was called down, his mother and father apparently called over an old friend of theirs to come over. Jaune thought he felt power coming from the person for but a moment, but then it was as if it just disappeared and standing in front of him was just an ordinary civilian.

The man was standing in the middle of the living room, wearing a grey cloak, with black hair and eyes, standing next to his sitting father. But weirdly Jaune found he couldn't really focus on any of their features, and couldn't find himself to really care that he couldn't. All in all, Jaune thought he had a forgettable face somehow, even if he was actually what one might consider attractive, not that Jaune ever noticed that.

"Hello, Sir."

"Greetings young Jaune Arc. You need not know my name, I'm just an old friend of your family."

Jaune nodded. A little confused, but accepted it overall.

The man in the cloak turned towards his family, "Yes. I can see why you would call for my services." Jaune was still confused, the man's speech never gave away what he was here for or why, especially so late at night. All he said pointed to his parents calling for his help with something.

"Let us take a stroll outside, Young Jaune." Jaune looked to his parents and saw them giving him reassuring smiles and nodding. So Jaune did as the cloaked man suggested. Going for a walk with the stranger. Well stranger for him, apparently a family friend though.

After a few minutes of walking on the path near his house, the bright moonlight lightning up the walkway, though for some reason the shadows seemed longer and darker around the figure next to him, it must be his imagination. It wasn't like he got a bad feeling from the man, actually there was no feeling at all. No happiness, nor wariness, no apprehension, nor curiosity. Okay maybe a little curiosity, but nothing more than a wispy fleeting thought when about the person themselves.

Then the man stopped in a clearing a little ways away from the house, on a hill where the tree were farther apart letting the broken moon shine through more fully. As Jaune stood next to him, just waiting for whatever was next. A little curious.

Then the man kneeled on one knee in front of Jaune, who was still shorter than him even though the guy was kneeling. Jaune was reminded that he was still slightly upset his growth spurt hadn't really hit yet still only being 9 years old. All his older sisters and his twin were all taller than him. At least he was still taller than his three younger sisters he was taller than. For now. They were catching up quickly. Too quickly.

He placed a hand on top of Jaune's head. Jaune didn't make any move against it. He felt nothing from the strange action. His family pats him on the head all the time. "Close your eyes Jaune." Jaune complied. He idly wondered if he had no danger sense whatsoever but that thought was quickly substituted with a feeling of nothingness. He had no thoughts going through his head.

The Man's POV

The Arc family was among the more interesting mortals. They had powerful souls, at least by mortal standards. It was intriguing when they reached out to him for his services, as a Deity.

Then he was surprised then a little amused, not that he'd ever admit that, when he heard out what they wanted him to do. His services in exchange for a favor from them, but not their children. As a Deity he didn't really have any use for their favor, at least not anything he could immediately think of, and he does have his own Familia, no matter how obscure, secret, and little numbered it was, that'd he'd trust more if he ever truly needed anything. But he was bored, and getting tired of the same-old requests his Familia were receiving, so he figured he could humor them, if to stave off his boredom if nothing else. That's a big part of the reason the Deities are even walking the world of Remnant anyways. Besides, maybe he'd find a use for that favor in the future. He wasn't one of the Deities capable of seeing the future after-all. And maybe, just maybe, the request did sound a little interesting.

They asked him to Mask their son, Jaune Arc. He was their only son and the only one truly showing an interest in becoming a hero. He has no strong opinions about the desire of the young boy himself, it may be seen as admirable or naive, he just enjoyed a good story, like most of the others. It was within his power to do so. To mask or hide. His divine right, no matter how weakened it was while on this planet.

Mortals could not deceive Deities. They could technically lie to their faces, but any Deity worth anything would see through that right away. But in a world such this one, where the souls of the mortals blared outwards to the world, enough so that even the Mortals could see and use it. It was as if every Deity had Freya's power. That was a surprise for all the Deities who made their way to this world.

He knew that the Arcs had powerful souls among the mortals, along with a few others who weren't important for the moment, but the soul of the child known as Jaune Arc was bright and even more powerful than his parents, even unawakened he could tell that even the level 1 mortals who received the barest of a blessing would be able to tell the kid's soul held potential and power. He now understood why the boy's parents were being so protective of the boy. If anything they weren't asking enough from him. Just asking him to mask the boy's soul so as to not attract unwanted attention. Well this looked like it would be interesting.

Resolved to actually go all out, well as all out as he could within his rights, but careful to not accidentally make it look like the boy was hiding his soul intentionally or worse yet didn't have one at all, he proceeded to hide the boy's soul in a special mask that would grow with his soul, so that when it gets even bigger and brighter it would remain inconspicuous for the most part. Well the one to "unlock" his "aura" will certainly be in for a big surprise. As well as any he binds with, should he succeed in joining a Familia.

When they got into the right position, under the light of the moon, ironically where they would be the least hidden, he invoked his Divine right to Secrecy. The boy fell unconscious as he laid his hand on his head. That was intended. It would take a few hours to complete the ritual anyways.

The Deity knew that those with powerful souls like this were fated for interesting things. Which direction those interesting things took depended on the person who the soul belonged to, but his parent's will be sorely mistaken if they believe they can cage the boy's spirit for his safety. But he'll let things play out, and simply keep an eye on the boy. He feels like the near future just got a lot more interesting and he doesn't need any future seeing powers to see that much.

His parents seemed keen to keep their child in the dark about much of the world, so that he wouldn't be able to throw himself into worse dangers. Perhaps a foolish decision, made not of rational thoughts but rather emotions, but that's fine with him. He lived off Secrecy after all.

The boy would wake up in his bed the next morning, believing everything to be a dream.

The boy wouldn't need to lie if he doesn't understand himself. After all, humans can't lie to Deities, but Deities can. The Man's form shifted to that of a child, as if everything from before was never real. Especially he, who is named, Harpocrates.

And done. For now. I usually write really long chapters rather than short ones like this, but am hoping that maybe if I write shorter ones like this I won't burn out of inspiration so quickly. Maybe expect future chapters to be a bit longer. Maybe not.

For anyone wondering why Jaune seemed to not care about the man or able to discern many features on them. Its because Deities in this have a sort of invisible aura they can actively release which is tied to their nature. In this case, that nature was Secrecy, and the less one wonders about something secret the better, right? Well originally I didn't have a specific Deity in mind, maybe someone who represented hiding in the dark or something like that, but by the time I did a little research on who would fit best I already wrote stuff that I didn't feel like changing. Plus finding out about this guy was surprisingly fitting.

In any case, hope you enjoy. Also, on a side note, all my stories are NOT copyrighted, please feel free to take them off my hands! You'll probably do a better job with some kind of schedule I definitely don't have. I'll still work on them too, just think of it as co-adoption or something.

(Don't mind me, just trying to ignore the weird feeling of Deja-vu as I was writing this story. Either my dreams are prophetic or the Matrix is glitching again. I'm leaning towards the latter since my chocolate milk tastes like strawberry milk instead. :P)
