The Tale of the Casanova I (Interlude)

He was born a simple Rattata, from a Rattata mother and a Mankey father.

Only, he wasn't so simple after all.

He had inherited two moves from his father, [Counter] and [Final Gambit]. These two moves, coupled with his own genius, had allowed him to become one of the strongest Pokemon in the area.

After all, the local Pokemon mostly used physical moves, so a well-timed [Counter] followed by a [Quick Attack], allowed him to easily win every single fight… until now.

It all started with meeting the aura user.

After getting his 'stamina boost', Rattata (who also went by Nova, a short form of his title as the 'Casanova') did what he usually did.

He went on a date with one of the cuter local Pokemon; an Ekans in that case.

A date that went perfectly! They even had a 'happy ending' afterwards, one of the best ones he ever had!

'Truly, a snake has amazing abilities…'

What he didn't know, or expect, was that she was the daughter of the king of the woods, an ex-trainer Pokemon who was too brutal, so he was released from his human's team.

A Persian.

Which was why he was currently running for his life, overusing [Quick Attack] to barely stay ahead of the mountain lion.

…While also [Taunting] him at every opportunity.

"You wanna know why your daughter doesn't have a gag reflex?!" Nova shouted while barely dodging another shower of [Power Gem]. "She learned it from your mom; and damn are they both skilled!"

The Persian growled but still stuck to [Power Gem] instead of directly hitting the rat; Nova, for all his obnoxious personality, was infamous for his [Counter] and [Quick Attack] combo, which allowed him to even beat the strongest Graveler in the forest, someone even he had some respect for.

In other words, even he, the undisputed king of this forest, didn't dare to hit him carelessly.

"Now that I think about it, you look familiar!" Nova called again, simultaniously turning around to attack the unprepared cat with a [Super Fang], not stopping his [Taunting] for even a second. "You look like that Magikarp I meet a while ago; weak, useless and only good for [Splashing] on my coc-"

Seeing red, the Persian dodged and, throwing caution to the wind, [Slashed] the annoying rat, who managed to tankedthe attack thanks to a masterfully timed [Endure].

And [Countered] with enough force that even the Persian- a Pokemon strong enough to win his ex-trainer his seventh gym battle, to stagger back.

"Hit too close to home?" Nova sneered, racing toward the Persian with [Quick Attack], only narrowly missing as the cat, who twisted his body inhumanly to dodge. "You ma and your daughter call me daddy already! So, want to talk to daddy about it?"

As much as Nova was shit-talking, it didn't change the fact that he was at a severe disadvantage; even more so now that [Counter] was out of the game.

Furthermore, he was nearly out of juice… of his own at least.

The aura Red pumped into his body was still very much present, still drowning out Nova's barely present normal type aura.

And it was helping him to keep going.

Unaware of that, Nova attributed his vigour to the adrenalin pumping through his veins, while still endlessly [Taunting] his 'son'.

In the end, he was buying time; time to think about a way to survive this situation.

… And, he knew of a way.

Years ago, when he was just a newborn Rattata, he stumbled upon a wandering 'sage', a Sunflora traveling the world and teaching young Pokemon of his ways of happiness; of a peaceful way of life.

The sage knew a seemingly unending amount of moves that prevented others from fighting, and he taught the listening children some of them- at the condition that they would use them responsibly.

And one of them, a move meant to show the enemy the pain you endured while fighting them, an attack that was extremely difficult to learn, was taught to Nova.

[Endeavor].

As much as Nova only practiced the sage's philosophy in the areas that worked for his own way of life, he still greatly respected the undoubtedly strongest Pokemon he had ever met.

Which was why he vowed to never use [Endeavor] without a just cause; when protecting others (…his dates)!

But, in the end, that decision was proving to be his downfall; had he used [Endeavor] instead of [Counter], he might have already won, or at least forced the Persian to retreat.

And even worse, [Endeavor] wasn't a finishing move; he didn't only need to hit the Persian once, he would have to hit him with a different move afterwards.

So, instead of a 'simple' [Endeavor], he prepared to use his Ultimate finishing move, an attack he only ever theorized about, a combination moves that, if it was possible, could beat any Pokemon, no matter how powerful.

… At the risk of his own health, or possibly even life.

But sometimes, a mutual destruction was a risk one had to take.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Nova stilled.

He stopped [Taunting] the mountain lion and instead tried something only the most talented of Pokemon ever managed to achieve.

He tried to combine two moves into one, creating something new, something powerful.

[Endeavor], a move taught to him from the Pokemon he respected the most, and [Final Gambit], an all-out attack that his father used in his own final moments before death; an attack that truly gambled with your life.

"If you manage to take this attack, I will stop running and you can do whatever you want to me." Nova said, uncharacteristically serious.

"And why should I?"

"Are you afraid?" Nova retorted, sneering at his hunter. "You easily tanked my most powerful attack already; the only reason why I'm still alive is because you want me to suffer. Am I wrong?"

The Persian's face contorted into a sadistic smile; his ability Unnerve seemingly combining with his bloodlust.

But Nova didn't even flinch.

He wasn't like most of his species; Nova didn't only have Guts as an ability, he was actually gutsy to a fault.

"Very well." Persian straightened himself and gracefully walked towards him. "I shall take your move, but- "

His claw extended, surrounded with ghostly aura, before harmlessly passing through the unflinching Nova.

"If you decide to run after your futile effort, suffering won't be your only concern."

With a stoic nod, Nova closed his eyes, wagering his survival on the Persian's well-known pride and split his attention evenly between his two least used moves.

Even among combination moves, fusing two moves from different typing's was rare. It just made it more difficult and it was usually only attempted by Pokemon who inheritably had both typing's.

But Nova didn't have that luxury.

Calling forth both moves was surprisingly easy, but the moment he tried to combine them, they started wrestling for control; for priority.

But, with a combination of a talent never seen before in a Rattata, his looming death, nearly perfect understanding of the moves and, most importantly, the possibility, the threat to never having sex again, his aura gave in.

And, as if they were meant to be together, they clicked.

Nova opened his eyes, now surrounded by an amber aura, the perfect fusion of normal and fighting type aura, and glared the Persian in the eyes.

"{Final Endeavor}!"

The Amber aura left Nova's body and he instantly fell unconscious.

But the aura shot forwards in a speed that, even if Persian tried to, he would have been unable to dodge, and enclosed the now highly alert Pokemon.

The moment he was completely surrounded in the aura, two things happened at the same time.

The effect of [Endeavor] kicked in, and Persian's aura was cut down to the identical level of Nova's, before the effect of [Final Gambit] activated, which did as much damage to him, as Nova just sacrificed.

Unable to do anything against the attack, the Persian fell unconscious.

That night, on a day like any other, a new, unique move was born.

{Final Endeavor}, a new one-hit knockout move, without the usual requirement of strength, but with the flaw that the user himself was knocked unconscious.

A move that was able to knock-out anyone.

But that, was only the start of Nova's legend.

In a parallel universe, where Nova never met Red, that would have been it. He would have created a move that allowed him to beat even the strongest challengers, and he would have risen to rule the mountains and the forests above Pewter for many years.

But this Nova was different.

Usually hidden within his aura, a small core- no bigger than a cherry berry, was ready to start a progress of change.

Every Pokemon had one of those small cores within them; a 'stone' or 'gem' made up of the essence of their being, some of them weak and brittle, and some of them waiting for their moment to start the process of evolution.

A process that required aura to function, aura that Nova currently didn't have.

Or at least, he didn't have any of his own aura.

Red's neural aura was still there; unmoving, unresponsive, seemingly dead.

Differently to when Red's aura was in his Pokemon's body, there was no connection to Nova; no contact to keep the aura alive.

Usually, that 'dead' aura would have been slowly consumed by Nova's own to bolster his strength, but the small core that deemed Nova ready to evolve, didn't know that.

So, instead of absorbing and changing Nova with his own aura- or at least waiting for his own aura to regenerate, it consumed Red's… and something, deeply ingrained within Red's aura reacted.

Nova began to glow and his body began to change.

And when the light died down, Rattata had changed, but not into what he was meant to.

He, who was meant to become an ordinary Raticate, became more.

For the first time in forever, a Pokemon 'naturally' evolved past its limits.

An evolution, usually reserved to the slayers of Legends and Mysteries, who's remains even today allowed some of their species to temporarily evolve past their limits; into the form of their strongest ancestors.

A feat that the gods had fought to conceal from the world, to prevent a reoccurrence of the revolution of the past.

On this fateful, for the first time in hundreds if not thousands of years, a Mega Pokemon was born.

Casanova, the Mega Raticate.

And that's part of the 'Tale of the Casanova' part I.

Funnily enough, this side story wasn't in any of my original notes for the story, but after creating Nova as a simple joke, the idea just stuck.

And who am I to refuse my creativity its outlet?

The Lore is expanding (I sat sooo many hours on some aspects of the story… I love it)!

Oh, and I'm thinking about changing the rating to M, mostly because there will be… minorly graphic, but bloody violence later on, what do you think.

Anyways, see you next week with the usual characters again :)
