Chapter 5

SG-1 met up with Tony and General Hammond in the observation area over the interrogation room. Tony looked through the glass and spied his friends in the room below. They could not see him through the mirrored glass and had no idea he was there.

Loki sat at the table pestering his cohorts. Before them was nothing but paper cups half filled with water. He complained, "The hospitality of this realm is inconceivable."

Thor sat across from his with his eyes glued on Loki fearing he would do something that would result in gunfire from the guards. "How is that brother?" he asked.

Loki explained, "We come all the way here…to another universe…just to warn them of the greatest threat to their existence and all they can give us is a paper cup of water. How is that gratitude?"

Peggy informed, "The water is a good sign. If they saw us as a threat we would be separated and not have access to any water." She grew tired of Loki's constant drama.

Steve agreed with his arms crossed as he too watched Loki like a hawk. "Exactly! They are letting us stay together and gave us water. That's means they are taking us seriously."

The door opened and Jack O'Neill stepped inside upon leaving the observation area to speak to the guest. He asked, "How's it going?" His eyes settled on Thor, "You are Thor?"

He rose to his feet, "I am Thor." He noticed the rank and named, "Colonel…O'Neill."

He pointed, "Is that Loki?"

Loki asked surprised, "You know me…Colonel?"

"Unfortunately." he miffed. He then looked to Peggy. "You're last name is Carter?"

She nodded, "I am."

"Interesting." he replied wondering if there was a connection to Sam. He looked to Steve, "Captain Steven Rogers. Captain America!" He knew of the title for Tony had told him all about Steve.

Steve rose to his feet and confirmed, "I'm Captain Rogers. You know us, Colonel?"

He shook his head, "Just heard of you."

Thor started, "We have come to your universe to find a friend and warn you of an enemy."

He held up a hand, "I got it. Damn…" he looked Thor up and down. "You have to be a chick magnet in that universe."

"I beg your pardon, Colonel?" he asked bewildered.

Steve pressed, "Our friend. His name is Tony Stark. Have you heard of him?"

"I might have…" he glanced back to the door. Tony then stepped inside with SG-1 following. In Tony's hands was a box of donuts as Sam carried a tray of fresh coffee.

"You hungry?" Tony asked his friends as he tried to contain his excitement.

Thor nearly cried as he found his friend alive and well. "Tony!"

Steve Rogers spied his niece Sam walk in behind Tony. He was about to hug her when Peggy grabbed his arm. She pulled him back and whispered, "She doesn't know us here." She noticed what Sam did not do. She didn't greet them or act like she knew them and that told Peggy she was not the same Sam she knew.

Steve then sucked back a tear of joy upon seeing Tony. After Tony placed the donuts on the table the Captain broke down and wrapped his arms around him along with Thor.

Tony stood awkwardly as Thor and Steve soon both hugged him. "Guys…this is awkward." He patted each on the shoulder as the released him.

Jack miffed, "My Thor never hugged me."

Peggy Carter looked upon Sam from afar hoping that perhaps she would turn to her and give her a big hug but she did not.

Tony looked upon Peggy, "I never got to meet you until now." He held out a hand to her.

She shook his hand, "You must have informed the military who we are."

He nodded, "I did! These are my new friends, SG-1. Jack, Daniel, Sam and Teal'c. They found me after the big snap thing. The stones were destroyed. Thanos is here, he is building a new army but he doing with another race called the Goa'uld."

"Goa'uld!" Thor scoffed. He looked to his brother who was equally disgusted.

"Slimy little creatures." Loki agreed.

Tony stated, "Here they are a threat. They forcibly take host and have a god complex going."

Thor stated, "My father banished the Goa'uld after they took a host in my world. They are not problem but…not very pleasant either."

Tony debriefed, "Things are a little different here. I just came from meeting your alternate, Thor. The Asgard here look nothing like you guys. They are dying. It's the result of cloning. They need a sample of your blood to help reverse the damage." He then stated, "I had them look for ourselves here. I don't exist. My father died before I was born. Pepper died a few years ago in a plane accident. SHIELD doesn't exist here. Fury is a Marine who trains drill instructors. Clint is an Air Force pilot. Natasha is an immigrant to the US and is a cadet. You died in World War Two, Steve. The Asgard are so different here due to the cloning that Loki and Thor are both safe from cascade failure."

Peggy asked, "What is that?"

Sam spoke up, "The same matter cannot occupy the same space. If you go to another reality and meet yourself, you will die."

Tony repeated, "Our Thor is safe from that."

Loki noticed he left him out, "And me?" he asked.

Tony admitted, "I don't care if you die. And Jack is no fan of yours either."

Loki rolled his eyes annoyed.

Steve asked, "What does SG-1 stand for? It's military."

Jack told him, "Stand for Star Gate One."

Loki and Thor traded glances for they heard of the Star Gate system.

Steve asked him, "What is that?"

He smiled, "I'll show you."

Moments Later

Jack led the newcomers to the Gate Room. Steve had never seen anything like it. He gasped, "Oh wow!"

Peggy spoke up, "We have one of those. I saw a report on it in SHIELD's files. They don't know what it does for sure but it was found in Egypt in 1928."

"By Professor Paul Langford?" Daniel asked knowing.

"Yes," she nodded amazed.

Thor stated, "Our Star Gate system is long gone. Many gates have been destroyed or lost over the eons. According to legend they were made by an ancient race of beings who died out long ago."

"The Ancients." Daniel informed. "Ours too. But our system is intact."

Thor warned, "Thanos will use it against you."

Tony agreed, "He will but SG-1 has us and we got two Thors now. Just wish we had a hulk…" he pondered. "Bruce is alive, fresh out of college, married and works at the CDC. He's just a regular guy here."

Steve asked, "Is there any other Avengers here at all?"

"Just us." Tony told him. "But we got Star Gate Command and SG-1."

Steve doubted, "Will that be enough? Thanos kicked our ass the first time."

Jack spoke up, "But you didn't have SG-1."

Tony had to agree, "You would scare the shit out of Thanos, Jack."

Steve asked, "Tony?" He didn't see anything special about this team called SG-1 other than an alternate version of his niece was on the team.

"I read the files. I wish I could bring SG-1 to my reality and let Jack mess with Fury a bit." he admitted.

Steve told him, "I would feel better with Natasha and Clint here…and Bruce." He looked to the team, "No offense."

"None taken." Jack assured him.

Sam suggested, "We can bring in Clint Barton. He's active military here. He's a well known Olympic archer. They call him 'Hawkeye.' He sounds interesting."

Tony agreed, "We can bring Clint in. It won't be Avengers' Clint but close enough. What about Natasha?"

"She a cadet." Sam grinned. "I can bring her in as part of her studies."

Steve stated, "How old is Natasha now?"

"Seventeen." Sam told him.

Tony added, "And she escaped the Soviet Union as a child. She was never trained to be an assassin. We can train her to be an Avenger." He saw a new opportunity to help his old friends.

Peggy asked, "Nick?"

"He's military. We can bring him in too." Tony figured.

Steve requested, "What about Peter Quill? Obviously, Peter Parker hasn't been born yet but Quill would be old enough."

"No Quill," he shook his head. "Nothing came up. Parker is too young to be born. Stephen Strange is a high school student. It's 1999 and in another reality. Things are different here." He looked to Thor, "Way different."

Thor asked, "What do I look like in this…universe?"

Tony explained, "About three foot tall, kind of gray, no hair, big eyes…" he noticed Thor's face contort in disgust.

"Sounds hideous." he stated.

Loki agreed, "That does sound hideous. What do I look like?"

Tony looked to Sam, "All the Asgard look the same, right?"

She nodded, "Yes."

"Same." he replied.

He winced, "My poor self."
