A/N: Just watched Act 2. Wanted to write something about it.
A bit (well, a lot really) of a Fix-it, although I suspect that the Firelights aren't really the bad guys, and am interested to see how Act 3 goes.
The Sisters stood side by side, watching the remaining Firelighters fly back into the pipes, the way they came.
"We need to get out of here, before more come back" said Vi, taking the lead as she had done so many times in the Past. Walking past Jinx to pick up the unconscious Caitlyn, laying on the ground.
"Is that spot beneath Benzo's old place still hidden?"
"Yeah, but that is the heart of Silco's territory. Come on, I've got a place." Jinx scooped the glowing Hextech Crystal off the ground - where it had been dropped by a fleeing Firelighter. Before - before turning and walking away.
"Why are you helping an Enforcer?" Jinx spat out the name like a curse, staring in Disgust as Vi softly placed Caitlyn down on the Bed. An uneasy silence had followed them until they reached safety - with both Sisters content to leave the conversation for later.
"She is the reason I'm no longer in a Cell." Vi replied simply. "Got me out in exchange for information on Silco. Then Sivika told me you were still alive"
"Why wouldn't I be alive?"
"The last time I saw you, you were surrounded by Silco and his men - who had just been trying to kill us all. That is plenty of reason to believe you were dead"
"Hmm". Jinx didn't really have an answer to that.
"What happened to you Powder? How …"
"That's not my name anymore" Jinx snapped, the same anger from before rising.
"I'm not going to call you Jinx. You're not a jinx, you never have been - no matter what I said." Vi's voice cracked, tears welling up in her eyes. "I was angry, and upset, and I took it out on you. I… I'm an awful sister. I..."
Her self-deprecating rant was cut off by Jinx wrapping her arms around her. Pulling her into a tight hug.
They remained like that for some time, before Vi, still filled with burning curiosity, pulled away.
"Who were they back there?"
"Who? The Firelights? One of the few gangs that still resist Silco."
Vi scoffed. "They don't sound so bad"
Jinx scoffed back, "Perhaps not, however they would very much like to torture and kill me. Not everyone seems to not care about my relationship with Silco like you do"
"Ohh, I care very much - however you are alive, and that is more important to me."
Jinx smiled softly, before sighing. "After you left. I was a mess. I hated you. I latched onto Silco, uncaring of what he had done. He took me in. His sick, twisted mind comparing us to him and Vander when they were young, thought that manipulating me into caring was just another way to get back at Vander. And for a long time it worked. Until I learned that you were back - that he had lied about your death - I was his most trusted."
They sat for some time, sharing stories. Before a thin moan disturbed them, as Caitlyn stirred. Looking around with bleary eyes, before tensing.
"Easy Cupcake" Vi said, gently resting a hand on her shoulder. "You're alright, we are safe"
Caitlyn sighed, "I told you Vi, it's Caitlyn - not Cupcake"
Vi just smirked down at her, "And I told you, It's because you're so sweet"
Caitlyn just scowled, looking around the room before her eyes landed on Jinx, who was looking at them with the same disgust as before, mixed with some slight amusement. "What is she doing here?"
"She is my sister," Vi said defensively. "And she brought us here to lay low while you heal. Then I can complete my side of our bargain and get you enough evidence on Silco to take to your Sheriff."
"She…" Caitlyn started, before she was interrupted by Jinx's laughter.
"What is so funny?" Caitlyn snapped.
"Ahh, yes. Take evidence of Silco's crimes to Sheriff Marcus, the one who is in his pocket. Great Plan" Jinx said sarcastically.
"Wait" Vi interrupted, "Marcus is Sheriff? That Marcus? The enforcer who sold out Vander to Silco"
"He can't be…" said Caitlyn, before trailing off as several odd situations started to link together, and Jinx's words seemed less outrageous. "Then I'll take the proof directly to the council"
"Okay" said Vi, "Then once we are healed, we'll find a way to sneak in. Find some proof - hopefully something that can tie Marcus in as well. Then get you back topside."
"How are we going to sneak in?"
"I can get the proof." Jinx interrupted, "Someone with as many schemes as Silco keeps very good records to keep track of them all - I know where he keeps them."
Jinx's heist went flawlessly. With Caitlyn's camera, all of Silco's records were copied, leaving him none the wiser. They sneaked Caitlyn along the underside of the bridge, and back to Piltover.
With those records. The council had no choice but to take action. Marcus was arrested. Caitlyn was promoted to Sheriff - there was no hiding her slight smile as Marcus was thrown in the same cell that he had once put Vi in.
The next time Silco came to Piltover, hoping to broker a trade that would grant him easy access to key resources needed to mass-produce Shimmer - creating an army more than capable of storming Piltover. He was quickly stopped and arrested by a squad of Enforcers and - faced with undeniable proof of his crimes - was also locked away.
The pair of Sisters smiled as they read the message from Caitlyn - news that Silco was gone for good.
Looking out over the dark, grimy city. Jinx said "Silco was right about one thing. We are slowly being left behind. We can't keep surviving the way we are now. But we could change that."
"And how do you plan on doing that?" Vi said, looking at her sister warily. Her sister's actions could still sometimes make her uneasy. Jinx just smirked, slipping the glowing orb out of a pouch and holding it up.
With the combination of Vi's charisma and Jinx's inventions, the pair quickly gained control. Those who had suffered under Silco, as well as those who had once followed Vander flocked to them. Soon, the nation of Zaun rose from its dull past. Gaining prestige as more than just the castoffs of Piltover. It's people looked in reverence towards the people they referred to as 'The Queens of Zaun'. Although the sisters hated that name.
While it would take generations for the rift between the sister cities to fully heal - the marriage of Vi, Queen of Zaun and Caitlyn, Sheriff of Piltover did wonders.
