*Cracks knuckles* this is my moment.
They were really close before Ozai decided to ruin everything for their family. They'd sneak to each other's bedrooms past their bedtime to play together all night.
They totally had a "phase" when they were convinced they were supposed to get married once they were old enough.
Even after they became rivals and "hated" each other, they'd still sometimes dream about their past friendship.
Zuko would visit her at asylum at least once a week. Even he wasn't sure how to help her, and with her telling him she didn't want his help in the first place. He was sick of fighting her and wanted to support her in whatever way he could.
It wouldn't take long for them to realize they have feelings for each other.
Eventually Azula would get better and move back to the palace. Zuko would be extremely protective of her, and she'd love that.
One night she'd say she had a really bad nightmare, but it would just be an excuse to sleep next to him. Zuko would be super sweet and caring, and Azula just wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to kiss him. Zuko would be shocked, his cheeks would be burning up… and he'd kiss her and admit he is in love with her.
After a while Azula would convince him to make their relationship public. Zuko would NOT react well to people saying he shouldn't be with her.
Zuko would be unbelievably happy when Azula got pregnant, and he would be the world's most loving, dorkiest dad. Azula would roll her eyes at his doting over Izumi, but it'd be obvious she actually liked it. She 100% cries whenever Zuko assures her she is a good mom.
