Disclaimer: I in no way own any part of Power Rangers, although given the way the series has been going for the last couple of years, I wouldn't mind all that much.

Chapter 5: the zords
Kimberly heart struggled with the wrench as she attempted to repair the robot she had found. Back when she had been a Power Ranger, she hadn't been mechanically inclined. Oh how she wished Billy could be here now.
As she struggled to assemble the last robot, she thought back to how her team would've dealt with this. Most likely Zordon, or Alpha would have done this, leaving her and the rest of the team to deal with the smaller threats. However with her as this teams mentor, she didn't have much of a choice.
She had no idea who she could trust in the school above, and her team would need these eventually. She just hoped it wouldn't be anytime soon, as they couldn't form the mega sword yet.
Finally giving it up, she walked over to the pedestal that held the white gem. Staring down at it Kim wondered when they would find the white ranger.

Heather side as she landed a punch to one of the shadows. They have been attacking relentlessly over the past week. In Heather's opinion trying to wear them down.
Heather had scoffed at that thought, yes they each had weaknesses, but together they could overcome anything. Heather knew this was true, after all Alice had proven it when she had overcome her fear of fire to help take out the monster of the week.
As Heather landed another punch she saw their current opponent that seem to be focusing on fire just like the last one, watch is fear of fire straight toward Alice.
"Blue duck" Francine cried lunging in front of the fireball. As usual Francine seem to absorb the power, then she launched her own blast right back at him. He apparently had not been prepared for this, and was sent flying head over heels through the air.
Claire had apparently been waiting for this, because she drew back her bow and fired an arrow that went straight through the monsters heart.
The aero caused the monster to explode, and all four girls cheered as the shadows vanished.
"Well done rangers" Kim's voice sounded from within their helmets. "Back to the chamber."
Nodding the four girls teleported out of the city, before they could see what the shadows were doing.

Kim smiled at the Rangers as they teleported into the chamber.
"Well done rangers" she said patting each one on the shoulder. "The four of you have continue to grow not only as individuals but as team members. I do however need to warn you I'm pretty sure that we will be facing harder enemies in the future."
All four girls nodded acknowledgment.
"Kim" Clair spoke up. "Any luck in finding the fifth ranger?"
Kim shook her head. "The white Jem hasn't glowed at all" she said looking forlornly at the white gem sitting on the pedestal. "I haven't lost hope, but I have no idea when we'll be able to find the white ranger."

Scalaxes scoulled as the shadows returned. Those rangers had become far more powerful than she had expected. Yes if she could get one separate from the others she could probably take them on, but she had no idea how to separate these for.
They always seem to have one another's back, and they wouldn't leave one another alone. Even if one just fell down, one of the other three would talk to the person.
If only she could figure out who was under those helmets. Then she could take the gem from them with no trouble at all.
"My queen" she heard as Shade walked into her thrown room. Scalaxes did not turn to face him.
"What is it Shade?"
"I have brought a new monster for yyour inspection."
Scalaxes turned at these words to see a lime green monster. He had the head of an eagal, the body of a sparrow, and 4 bat like wings.
"and just what can he do?"
Shade smiled at his queen.

It was three days later when an accident actually occurred in the school. Claire had been helping one of her fellow students with her science project, which had been designed to help with the energy problem that had cropped up in recent years.
Samantha Blackmore had never liked Clair all that much. In Samantha's opinion Claire was a flighty girl who couldn't seem to keep her head out of the clouds.
Never mind the fact that she was nearly top of her class, but in Samantha's opinion Clair was just no competition. It infuriated her that Claire was not expelled on on a regular basis. Why couldn't the school see that someone as flighty as Claire did not deserve to be in the school.
Because of this when Claire had been assigned to Samantha's project as an assistant, Samantha had been furious, and then an idea occured to her.
This would give Samantha a chance to get Clair out of her hair, and show that she was the best in the school.
Claire had been assigned to watch over the gauges that tracked how much energy was being poured into the device that they were testing.
Claire was supposed to call out when any of the gauges went into the red zone. A problem arose however went all three of them went into red at the exact same time. Claire had just opened her mouth to yell a warning, when the device had exploded in sent Clair flying out of the lab.
Samantha had been understandably horrified. She wanted Claire injured, but she did not want her dead. After all if Claire was dead, how could Samantha hold it over her that Samantha was the better person.

Alice, Francine, and Heather teleported into the chamber. "What's wrong Kim? Alice asked.
/"Claire's been injured in the science accident" Kim said typing away at the computer. "It appears that she was supposed to keep an eye on energy readings for her classmates, but something went wrong, and the device exploded. This sent Claire flying into a wall, and she's unconscious now."
All three girls gasped.
"What does this mean for us as a team?"
Francine and Alice gave Heather with her in luck.
Kim turned and lead frosty luck on Heather. "For now nothing changes" she said her tone noticeably cooler than it had been before. "First we need to make sure that nothing has truly happened to Claire, and then will decide what happens with the power rangers. So far we're not changing the mission, but we need to find out if Claire can still be powered up."
Heather look down. "I'm sorry everyone" she said tears coming to her eyes. "I don't wanted to seem like I don't care what happens to Clair. I really do. I also understand however that Claire would not want us to abandon the people of our city."
Alice and Francine exchanged a look.
Francine resolve her and took Heather's hand. "We're not giving up Heather" she said. "If you're right and Claire would not want us to abandon the city, then we can't. It would be a slap in Claire's face if we were to do so."
Alice came over and took Heather's other hand. "Francine's right" she said putting her other arm around Heather. "We still have a job to do."
Kim was about to congratulate the two girls on how they handled the situation, when the alarms started going off. Spinning back to the computer kins hands flew over the keys trying to find the disturbance. At last she pulled up a picture of buildings in the downtown area exploding. The odd part however, was that they couldn't see anything doing it.
"We may be down one ranger" she said spinning back to look at the girls. "But the city needs you Rangers. Suit up".
Nodding the girls reached for the necklace around their neck's. "Elemental light, shine bright."

Claire awoke in the hospital. The only reason she knew that is because of the machines that she was hooked up to. She felt really weak, and to her whore noticed that the necklace that she always wore was missing from around her neck. As Claire was looking around trying to find where her necklace may have been put, the door opened and one of the nurses walked in.
"It's good to see you awake miss Jinn" she said checking over Claire's vitals. "We were really worried when we brought you in. We were worried that you may have done some damage to your brain when your head hit the wall."
Clair frowned, trying to remember what it happened. "How did I hit my head on the wall" she asked slowly still trying to bring the memories out.
The nurse clipped her tongue. In disapproval or sympathy Clair couldn't tell. "You were helping one of your classmates with a science experiment" she said checking over Claire's chart. "And apparently something went wrong. The device you were working on exploded, and it flung you into a wall.
Claire frowned again. She couldn't remember anything from that day. What happened to her. Why who was she helping, and what were they working on. If she had indeed been helping a classmate with a science experiment, they needed to know what had gone wrong otherwise somebody else could get hurt working on the same experiment.
"By the way, do you know where my necklaces?"
The nurse smiled. "Yes" she said walking over to a drawer. "We put it in here, since we didn't know if it would react to any of our tests."
So saying the nurse opened the drawer, pulled out the necklace, and walked back over to Clair. Stretching out her hand the woman placed the necklace in Clair's hand.
Clairs fingers closed around the necklace. The sense of relief washed over her, she couldn't lose the gem, who knows what would happen if those shadows got their greedy hands on her necklace. "Thank you so very much. Any idea how long I will be in here?"
The nurse smiled at her again. "Only for a few more hours" she said checking over the chart one more time. The doctor would like to go over your results of the test with you, and then will be happy to check you out."
Smiling Claire thanked the nurse, and settle back to wait for the doctor.

Alice, Francine, and Heather were having a rough time defending the downtown buildings. Their foe was not invisable like they firstg thought, but was instead very fast. The monster would appear in front of what they wanted to hit, and zip away before anyone saw him.
"This isn't working" Alice said into her helmet as she saw another building get destroyed nearby.
"I agree" Francine said as she tried to catch the monster off guard with a punch aimed at where she guessed where he would appear next. She missed, but neither of her team mates were upset about it. After all if the punch had landed the monstre would be in a wirld of hurt.

Kim watched on the computer screen as the rangers tried to stop the rammpage of the latest monster. She wished she could join the fight, but she was now the mentor, and she was needed here.
Kim finally understood how Billy had felt when he had to step down when the rangers had switched over to the zeo crystal.
Kim wished she had an energy source like that for her rangers. Sadly it was for the best that the zeo crystal had been sent back into the time stream when the rangers had switched to Terbo. That didn't make Kim wish for the power source any less.
Kim suddenly turned. For just a moment she thought she saw the white gem glowing, but when she looked over the gem was still dark.
"Where is the white ranger" she thought.

"I'm scared rangers" Alice said as another building was destroyed by the monster.
"I'm not sure if i'm scared" Heather replied as the monster seemed to fly past her. "But I am really getting annoyed with this monster."
In frustration Heather slammed her hand on the ground. to the surprise of the rangers a boulder was launched strait up from the ground, and smacked into the monster who was indeed flying.
The monster seemed to pause in mid-air, and then fall to the ground before exploding.
"No wonder we couldn't catch this monster" Francine said as they watched the monster explode. "He must have been an air element, and as we know from green they have really good speed."

Scalaxes stared as her latest monster was destroyed.
"Do not fear my queen" Shade who was standing behind and to her right said. "We have recently discovered a way to grow your monsters."
So saying Shade tapped a crystal that sat on 1 of the pillars of the room. A black beam lanced out, and after traveling through time and space hit the remains of the monster the rangers had just destroyed.
The rangers saw the beam heading for the remains, and were unsure what it's purpase was.
no one had to wait very long to find out. The monster's remains flowed back together as though they were water, and then the monster grew to over 30 feet tall.
"Now I'll use my speed to smash you little rangers."
Alice, Francine, and heather stared at the monster in shock.
"Any idea on how we're supost to fight that?"
Before either ranger could respond they heard Kim's voice.
"Rangers" she said. "It is time to call on your zords."
Alice looked puzzled for a minute. "How do we do that Kim" she asked as she dove out of the way of the monster's foot.
"Just call out the name of your element and say the words 'zord summon'".
"Ok " Heather said. "Earth zord summon."
There was a ror, and a massive machine seemed to tunnel up through the earth right in front of her. On some kind of instinkd Heather launched herself up toward the zord's chest, and slipped into a cockpit that was hidden behind an illusion.
Seeing what Heather did Alice stood strait. "Water zord summon".
In front of her a massive circle formed. This circle filled rapidly with water. With a cry that sounded just like the song of a whale a machine swam up through the circle, and paused in front of Alice.
Alice followed Heather's lead in jumping up toward her zord's chest. When she slipped into the cockpit she noticed controlls symolar to the ones she used when playing her games.
Francine wasted no time in copying her fellow rangers and blinked in surprise as a massive machine shaped like a dragon appeard in a circle of flames.
The monster laughed, before using his speed to rush at the rangers.
"We're in trouble" all 3 rangers thought.

Clair was sitting up in bed when the doctor came in to see her.
"And how are you feeling miss Jinn?"
"Still a little dizzy, but I think I would rather be at home then in the hospital."
The doctor laughed. "Your not the first to say that, and I suspect you won't be the last."
The doctor looked over Clair's chart, and smiled. "Well all your tests came back good" he said smiling at Clair. "my recommendation is for you to go home, and get at least 3 days wirth of rest."
Clair smiled at the doctor. "Thank you" she said smiling in releaf.
It was as the doctor was leaving that Samantha walked into Clair's room.
"What can I do for you Samantha?"
Clair noticed Samantha's eyes focuse on her neckless. Never was Clair more grateful that her necklace was a fake designed to fool 1 of their enemies into thinking she was the power ranger of air. when in fact she had been given this neclace by the trew master of air.
Samantha gave Clair a dirty look. "Why couldn't you have been expelled for what happened to us?"
Clair looked puzzled, but on the inside she was starting to put the pieces together. "From what I was told when I woke up, what happened wasn't my falt. Instead the science teacher said someone sabotaged your exparement, and I was just unlucky enough to recieve the full force of the blast."
Clair noticed Samantha pail at the word sabotaged, but she couldn't do anything right now.
"Well I hope this teaches you that your not the best in school" Samantha sneered.
"I already knew that" Clair said narrowing her eyes. "After all i'm fourth in the class. with Alice being number 1."
Clair frowned at the look of jelacy that flickered across Samantha's face.
With out another word Samantha marched out of the room.
"I guess we'll have to see if you had anything to do with that explosion Samantha" Clair thought as she got dressed.

Heather nearly cursed as her zord took another hit from the monster. Unlike before she couldn't count on catching him with a surprise hit this time.
"Clair. Where are you?"

As soon as she was out of the hospital Clair teleported to the elemental chamber.
Kim turned at the sound, and smiled in releaf as Clair appeared.
"It's so good to see you out of that hospital" Kim said rising from her chair, and hurrying over to give Clair a hug.
Clair hugged their mentor back.
"So what's been happening while I was out of touch?"
Kim immediately turned serious.
"Your fellow rangers are ingaged in fighting a new monster" she said pointing to the screen.
Clair had to blink at the sight of the 30 foot tall monster.
"How are they fighting that?"
Kim smiled for the first time in hours.
"They summoned their zords, and are using them to stand toe to toe with the monster."
Clair frowned. "It looks to me like the monster is just toying with them."
Kim sighed.
"He is" she said. "From what the others can telll, he is an air elemental, and because of this his speed is so high the rangers can't land a hit on him."
Clair nodded. "How do I summon my zord?"
Kim looked at Clair in worry.
"Are you sure your ok? You did just get out of the hospital after all."
Clair smiled at Kim. "My friends need me" she said. "I should be ok so long as I take it easy for the next few days."
Kim didn't look convinced.
"If you're sure."
Clair nodded.
Kim sighed. "All you have to do is say your element then 'zord summon'."
Kim took a step back at the look on Clair's face.
Reaching up Clair removed the fake necklace from around her nack, and tapping her bracelet summoned her ranger necklace. With a tap she transformed into her ranger for, and then, "Air zord summon."

Alice was really worried now. Dispite being the same size as them, this monster was so fast that he could dodge their attacks with ease. "If only Clair were here" she thought preparing to try something dangerous.
Without worning something swooped out of the sky, and sucker punched the monster sending him crashing to the ground.
"What just happened" Francine asked as she righted herself from the monster's last attack.
"Hi gang" a welcome voice was heard in their ears. "Miss me?"
Alice, Francine, and Heather all wanted to cheer when they recognized that voice.
"Green! is that you?"
"Sure is red" Clair answered as she ducked under the monster's attack.
"I've got an idea" Clair said. "I'll grab this creep, and hold him still. While Yellow delivers a real punch."
"That's a good idea" Kim's voicce came through in their ears. "So long as Yellow doesn't hit Green, the attack should take the monster out with ease."
Smiling Alice turned toward Francine's zord. "Let's try and run a distraction for Green" she said.
"You got it blue" Francine answered charging at the monster.
Still angry about the hit he had taken from the green ranger the monster was just a little to slow to notice the red ranger coming at him. He was reminded of her however, when she smacked into him with a flame laced punch.
Staggering back from the punch, he was unprepared for the blue ranger to swing her tail at him. The hit sent him flying, right into the arms of the green ranger.
"Let me go" he yelled, struggling to get free from the green ranger's grip.
"I don't think so" Clair as she turned the monster away from the city. Without worning Heather delivered an upercut to the monster's underside. nearly punching her way through the monster's stomach.
"I guess my time is up" the monster said as he exploded into particals of light.
"Few" Francine said. "That's 1 more monster down."

Scalaxes watched as the rangers destroyed her latest monster. She had heard about these zords, but she had been unaware they would be so effective against her monsters. She would have to come up with a new stratagy.

It was 4 days later. Clair was helping with the science class again, when there was a knock at the class room door.
"Will you answer that Jinn/"
Hiding a smile Clair left her post, and walking over opened the door to reveal 2 police officers.
"Is Samantha Blackmore availble?"
Surprised Samantha walked over. "I am Samantha Blackmore" she said.
Without any worning the second officer produced a pair of hand cuffs, and in 1 quick movement had Samantha's hands cuffed behind her back.
"Samantha Blackmore" the first officer spoke. "You are under arrest for attempted murder. Mainly Clair Jin."
The officer read Samantha her rights, and led her out of the class room to the cheers of everyone else.
"How did you get her charged" 1 classmate asked.
"And how did you get it to stick" another chimed in.
It was well known that Samantha's father was willing to buy his daughter's way out of trouble.
Clair smiled at everyone.
"I didn't do anything" she said. "My teacher Mrs. Scott on the other hand."
Everyone else nodded. They had all seen how seriously Kimberly Scott to the health of her students. It was easy to guess what she would do when given evidence of attempted murder.

An: and finally I'm finished with this chapter. It always annoyed me to see bullies get away with putting people, yes including the rangers, in danger, and getting nothing bugt a slap on the rist. I don't know why, but Power Rangers seems to just allow it, and so I decided to show what I think should have been done at least once. This is the only time I plan to involve the law, but I'm not ruling it out for later.
I'm not sure what i'll be uploading next week, but I promase something is going up. See you all then.
