Three: first dungeon

– separator –

The following day Jasmine woke at 6:30 in the morning. This was not unusual for her now, for her training in the elemental world she was often getting up between six and seven in the morning, and would keep working at it learning all she could until close to 10 at night. She figured that this training would also come in handy for her work in her own world.

Looking around she noticed that none of her roommates were awake yet, so she decided to read some more notes that Pre had written down for her. Climbing out of bed she walked over to her trunk and opened it. Searching through the trunk she found her notebook, and opening it to her notes page checked on the second notes that Pre had written down for her.

"Do not forget that dungeons can be very dangerous. You have no idea what type of enemies you'll be facing, nor will you have any idea what kind of power level they have. Because of this it is not wise to dungeon crawl alone. Make sure that you have at least one other party member with you before you adventure into any dungeons. Whether you create them using an artifact, or by finding one that the game system has altered because of the world you're in."

Jasmine hummed to herself quietly. Was it possible that the chamber of secrets had become a dungeon ever since her power had manifested? It was certainly possible. But she would keep in mind Pre's words. She would not be going dungeon crawling until parvati was willing to join her. She also wanted to see if she could find artifacts around the school. Maybe she could rearrange some of the landscape so that it would be easier to find things. It might also help defend the castle better.

"dungeon crawl?"

Jasmine nodded to her fellow elemental. "Dungeons are how we make progress towards our long-term goal. If we don't enter them, then we stay static, and we won't be able to finish what the game has given us."

Parvati looked thoughtful. Jasmine had told her about the final page of the character sheet before they had gone to bed last night.

– Flashback –

"We have one more thing that we need to do before we can consider our character sheets fully finished" Jasmine said leaning against Parvati's bed.

"What is that?"

"We need to fill out the personality page of the character sheet."

Parvati pulled up her character sheet, and looked over what she could see. "I don't see anything that has to do with personality, unless it's name in that sort of thing."

Jasmine smiled, and reaching out tapped the upper right corner of the sheet. To Parvati's surprise the page seem to flip revealing a new screen. Parvati studied the screen, and saw at the top it said the word spells.

"What is this?"

Jasmine smiled. "R elemental powers allow us to create spells based on the elements that we can control. This page will hold a list of the spells that we have created so far. We need to be careful however because we are not allowed to create any spells that use any element other than ours. If we do so, we run the risk of the spell causing physical damage to us, and if it does too much at once we could die."

Parvati paled. "Do we have to do this now?"

Chuckling Jasmine reached out and tapped the corner again. The new page that came up showed the word abilities, and already had a couple listed.

Parvati's character sheet, abilities

Flight level one

Archery level one

Sharp shooting level 0

Nodding to the items Jasmine said "these are your passive skills. They are leveled up as you use them, and you don't need to say anything to activate them. They work off of pure thought, and action."

Parvati this time reached out and tapped the corner of the page. It flipped over again this time revealing a page that said the word techniques.

"These are slightly different from spells" Jasmine said pointing to the word. "Techniques are physical attacks that require your weapon. Since you are currently on armed, you will not be able to create or use any techniques."

Parvati studied the page, I noticed there was already one technique listed.

Parvati's character sheet, techniques

Doubleshot level one

Parvati turn to Jasmine and raise and eyebrow. Jasmine smiled. "It seems the gaming system has already provided you with a technique, just like it did for me."

"Oh, what did you get?"

"I'm an earth elemental, and that means that I use my fist and feet. Because of this I was given the double kick technique."

Smiling Parvati reached out and tap the page again. This time when it flipped over she saw it had the words personality at the top along with more things that need to be filled out.

Parvati's character sheet, personality

Positive trait one:?

Positive trait to:?

Positive trait 3:?

Negative trait one:?

Negative trait to:?

Negative trait 3:?

Long-term goal:

Parvati looked over the options in puzzlement. "Positive negative what do they mean here?"

Jasmine wrapped one arm around Parvati. "Positive traits are things that make other people like you. For example generous will be known as a positive trait. Negative traits on the other hand are the opposite, overgenerous would be considered a negative trait, instead of a positive one."

Parvati frowned. "Do we get to pick these, or are they assigned?"

"You get to pick the positive traits" Jasmine said looking over her own character sheet. "For every positive trait that you decide on, you will be assigned a negative trait to balance it out."

Parvati thought it over, tapping her fingers against her chin, then turn towards the screen in determination.

"Positive trait 1 determined".

`positive trait 1 assigned

Positive trait 1e: determined

Negative trait 1 assigned

Negative trait 1 tunnel vision `

Parvati blinked at the negative trait assigned to her. "How do I know what the traits actually do?"

Smiling Jasmine reached up and tapped her positive trait of determined.

"Determined:

Positive trait

Description: when faced with a challenge the individual will find it far easier to focus on the task at hand. Add one D12 to any tests that the individual is determined to finish."

Smiling at the description, Parvati her self reached up and tapped the negative trait of tunnel vision.

tunnel vision

"Negative trate:

Description when focused on a single task, the individual in question will ignore what's going on around them. This can often lead to danger, for they will not see enemies coming if they are soully focused on the task at hand."

Parvati blinked, then nodded. "That sounds like me all right."

Jasmine smiled. "I actually have the same traits in the same slots you do."

Parvati giggled, then looked thoughtful as she ttried to come up with her next positive trait. She thought for a couple of minutes, then blinked and surprise.

"Positive trait 2 fashion conscious."

`positive trait 2 assigned.

Positive trait 2: fashion conscious

Negative trait 2 assigned

Negative trait 2: snobbish `

Nodding at the changes on the screen, Parvati thought over her last positive trait. After a few minutes she had a good idea.

"Positive trait 3 good listener."

`positive trait 3 assigned

Positive trait 3: good listener

Negative trait 3 assigned

Negative trait 3: gossip`

Parvati blinked at her third negative trate. "I was already known as a gossip. So this doesn't surprise me in the least."

Parvati noticed that Jasmine was giggling while leaning against the side of the bed. "I would say that your traits already fit your original personality" she said trying to control her giggles.

Parvati pouted, then scowled at Jasmine. "So what's this last one? Long-term goal, what is that?"
b Jasmine looked up. "The long-term goal is what you're actually working toward. It's what you actually want to use the game system to accomplish. For example my long-term goal is to fully defeat Voldemort" Jasmine paused as Parvati shuddered. "And that's what I'm using the game system to work towards. Originally I was going to use it to help me get through the tri-Wizard tournament, but the one that was training me pointed out that I would probably be able to use this power for longer if I set an even bigger goal."

Parvati looked thoughtful. "Can we use the system to help us in our real lives?"

"Certainly" Jasmine said pointing to her self. "After all I'm using it to take out someone who wants to kill me. So why shouldn't you use it to learn skills that could help you in real life."

– end flashback –

Pulling herself out of her thoughts Jasmine rummaged through her trunk and pulled out her clothes for the day. After taking a shower she dressed in the schools uniform, though she kept her necklace around her neck, and kept the gloves that she had been given as a gift. They weren't boxing gloves, she couldn't use them as a weapon, but they certainly looked good. Pre had also told her that when she did earn her boxing gloves they could slip right over the gloves she was wearing.

Deciding to wake parvati and Lavender, Jasmine walked over to each and shook them by the shoulder. "You might wanna Wake up girls" she said. "Breakfast will be starting in 10 minutes."

The two girls jumped out of bed, rummaged through their trunks to get clothes for the day, quickly showered, dressed, and then followed Jasmine out of the dorms and down to the common room.

As the 3 of them came down into the common room, they saw Hermione sitting on one of the couches with tears streaming down her cheeks. To this point Hermione had still not apologized for her statements to Jasmine the previous day, and so the 3 of them walked right past her an out of the portrait hole. As the portrait clothes behind them, Hermione burst into a fresh set of tears. She had thrown away her best friend, over what.

She had brought up her suggestion to the headmaster before going to bed the previous night, but he had pointed out that the goblet of fire would not have allowed anyone who was under the age of 17 to even get near it.

She had seen what happened to the Weasley twins, and yet for some reason she still couldn't shake the thought that Jasmine had put her name into the goblet. What had she cost herself with her actions?

Classes proceeded normally throughout the day. Jasmine had only potions, and defense against the dark arts that day.

Potions had been a real eye-opener for all 3 of them. For some reason Jasmine and parvati had suddenly found themselves easily able to make potions, without having to look at the textbook. Professor Snape had been furious when he found the two making potions even faster then he could, but he have been warned by the headmaster not to focus solely on Potter, and any friends that she might have.

Snape knew that the headmaster had plans, but he wasn't sure what the changes that even he could see in Potter would make of them.

Defense against the dark arts on the other hand had been a real eye-opener. Today Professor Moody had decided to teach them about the unforgivable's. He had cast each one on a spider on his desk, even though he had freaked out more than half of the class when he'd had taken control of 1 of the spiders, and when he had killed it.

After the demonstrations he had attempted to place each student in the class under the imperious curse. All but two of the students had sucomed to the spell.

It was funny to see Hermione tap dancing across the classroom as she sang in a cube voice "I'm a little teapot".

Ron's fear of spiders had almost helped him overcome the spell, but he had finally succumbed, and he had even run out of the classroom after the spell had been lifted.

The 2 real surprises had been Jasmine Potter and Parvati Patel. Neither one of them had even felt the spell hit them. No matter what command was given they didn't seem to hear it. Or to be more accurate they were very easily able to overcome the command. They just sat there smiling at the professor as he gave ludicrous commands for them to follow.

After the class was dismissed Barty Crouch Jr, in the guise of Alastor Moody, retreated to his office and pulled out a mirror.

After classes ended for the day Parvati walked alongside Jasmine as they return to the common room. "Do we have any plans for our system today?"

Jasmine glanced around, then nodded imperceptibly to Parvati. "I would like to see if one of the areas in the school has been turned into a dungeon for us" she whispered glancing significantly around to the others. "Let me see if it actually has occurred, and if so I'll come get you, and we can explore our first dungeon together."

Parvati nodded, then skipped over to Lavender where the two engaged in animated conversation about the fashions The Beauxbatons students had been wearing ever since they arrived.

Jasmine smiled at the two girls, and followed them up to their dorm room. Changing out of her school uniform, Jasmine pulled on a set of lightweight track pants that Pre had given her. She also pulled out the bracers that she had earned during her training and slip them on to her rists. Nodding to her dorm mates, she left the dorm and proceeded down to the common room where she found Hermione Granger in a shouting match with Ron. Snearing to her self Jasmine ignored the two, and left through the portrait hole.

As the portrait closed behind Jasmine, Hermione pulled back her right arm and sluged Ron right in the jaw.

"It's thangs to you that I've lost the best friend I've ever had. Don't you ever come to me for homework again. I won't be helping you."

With that Hermione ran up to her dorm room, flung her self on her bed, pulled her curtain shut, and burst into tears.

"I'm sorry Jasmine."

As soon as Jasmine was in a part of the castle that had no portraits around to spy on her, she reached into the inventory space that she hadn't had a chance to show to Parvati yet, and pulled out her invisibility cloak throwing it over her.

Now properly invisible she proceeded down to the second floor. Entering Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, Jasmine walked over to the sink. Looking at the mini map that popped up when ever she left her dorm. Jasmine noticed that Moaning Myrtle wasn't present at the moment. This was fortunate she thought as she hissed "Open" at the sink.

With a grinding noise the sink sank into the floor and a lawn pipe emerged.

Jasmine was about to jump into the pipe, when she paused. Hadn't Jinny gone to the chamber every time she was forced to let the basilisk out?

If so how had she gotten up and down the pipe? Jasmine thought about it for a few minutes, then nearly slapped her self.

"Of course" she thought. 'stairs' she hissed and a set of stairs grew out of the wall. Jasmine followed the stairs down and landing on the floor she trotted along to where the cave in had occurred.

As she neared the cave in however, A new message for her popped up.

`dungeon

You are about to enter the chamber of secrets dungeon. Warning enemy level is five. `

Nodding Jasmine turned and retraced her steps back towards the stairs that she had come down. Climbing back up into the bathroom she turned back to the sink "'close'" she hissed at the sink. With a grinding noise the sink return to its previous position, and sealed off the pipe and stairs. Smiling to herself Jasmine skipped out of the bathroom and headed back towards Gryffindor tower.

"The entrance to the chamber of secrets is in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom?"

Jasmine nodded to Parvati as they walked in to the bathroom. To Jasmine's surprise Moaning Myrtle was there, but she had what Jasmine recognized as the gamer symbol over her head.

"Well well well" myrtle said floating down from the ceiling. "So I see I was right. Someone has indeed gained the power of the gamer."

Jasmine and Parvati looked at myrtle in puzzlement. "You know about the gamer Myrtle?"

Myrtle giggled. "When a person dies, they have the option of sticking around if the elemental masters wish them to do so. After all jasmine you killed the basilisk that ended up killing me two years ago, so why would I be still sticking around?"

Both Jasmine and Parvati nodded at that. "I guess that makes sense, but what role do you play now?"

Myrtle giggled again. "I'm here to offer advice to the elemental leader, and to provide quest if they need help finding some."

Jasmine looked thoughtful for a minute.

"So should I be able to find a quest down in the chamber?"

Myrtle shook her head. "The quest itself is the chamber" she said floating over to the sink that had the snake tattoo on it. "The chamber has grown significantly since you were in it last Jazmine. You will need to make your way through the dungeon itself and feed the boss at the end. I know it's not the basilisk you have to fight, but I don't know what you will face down there."

Jasmine side in relief. "At least we won't have to deal with that."

Turning to the sink that myrtle was hovering over, Jasmine hissed to make the sink move.

Parvati staired in wonder as stairs were revealed down into the chamber.

"Is this how you got down into the chamber?"

Jasmine shook her head. "Ron and I had to slide down a pipe when we came down here the first time. I didn't figure out there were stairs down here until just before dinner."

Jasmine started climbing down the stairs, and Parvati followed her down with her wand drawn ready to cast a spell at a moments notice.

`warning you're about to enter the chamber of secrets dungeon

enter dungeon Y/N?`

Jasmine and Parvati stopped at the rubble as the game pop-up appeared. Jasmine reached out with a hand and tapped the Y on the screen in front of them. To both of their surprise the rubble parted in front of them rising up to form an arch that they could walk through. The two of them continued Forward wands raised. Lights shining from the edge of each tip.

The two of them entered a long Corredor that seem to branch off in 3 directions. Ahead of them was what Jasmine recognized as a T intersection. To the left was a long winding Corredor, and to the right was what looked like a sharp right turn, so she could just barely see around the edge another corridor or they disappeared into the darkness.

"Mini map" Jasmine said reaching up to tap something on her display.

To Parvati's surprise a map appeared in the corner of her eye. She could now see an arrow that pointed right to where they were on the map, and it showed the corredor they were walking through. She could also see the turns that they could make. The rest however seem to be grade out. "What's with the map?"

Jasmine smiled as she and Parvati walked forward. "This is known as the games mini map. It'll show us where we are, where we've been is filled in, and anything that we have not explored is grayed out."

Parvati frowned as they walked up to the intersection.

"So do we go right, left, or straight ahead?"

Jasmine looked thoughtful. "Even if we do go straight ahead, will have to make a turn left or right again anyway. So why don't we check out this left-hand corredor first."

Parvati nodded, and the 2 of them walked down the left-hand Corredor. It was a long one, however it was broken up at various times with doors that appeared to be locked along the path. The two of them continue to the end of the Corredor where it turned left again, And came to a shorter Corredor that led to a large set of golden double doors. It was obvious that these were locked, as there was an enormous padlock that stretched across the two doors.

"Well that was quick" Jasmine said gazing at the doors in surprise.

Parvati frowned. "What's a surprise" she asked.

Jasmine smiled. "We already know where the boss door is" she said waving at the doors. "That's how you know when you found a boss during one of these dungeons."

Parvati studied the padlock. "So I'm guessing the key to opening this is somewhere else in the dungeon?"

Jasmine nodded. "Will have to explore the rest of the dungeon if we want to find the boss key" she said turning and walking back towards the junction of halls they had first come to.

Parvati followed her her wand held a little higher to let more light shine down. Something was bothering Parvati about the map. She could see little red dots down the path they were walking, they hadn't been there before, so what were they now. "Jasmine" she said calling attention back to herself. "What's with the dots on the map?"

Jasmine glanced up at the map, and smiled. "It's time for your first taste of combat in the gaming system Parvati. That's an enemy and counter. And judging by the number of dots we've got a lot of enemies to deal with."

Parvati stopped. "How do we fight" she asked gripping her wand a little tighter.

Jasmine put a soothing hand on Parvati shoulder. "We can use the spells that we've been taught at Hogwarts to fight enemies at the moment" she said tapping her other hand with her own wand. "After all we don't have any of our elemental weapons yet, although I can fight without them you still need a bow. We also haven't created any spells yet, so we can't use that system yet either."

Nodding Parvati walk beside Jasmine as they walked around the corner, and saw half a dozen rats ahead of them. Parvati squeaked and hid behind Jasmine.

"You're scared of rats Parvati?"

Parvati was shaking. "Yes" she said her voice shaking as much as her body was. "When I was younger I accidentally tripped into a rats nest, and I nearly died."

Jasmine wrapped her arms around Parvati giving her comfort. "Don't fear Parvati" she said patting her on the back. "You're not alone, these rats are not in a nest, and you're not helpless. We can fight these off."

Parvati took a deep breath, raised her wand, and leaning around Jasmine fired off A stunning spell. To the surprise of both girls, the spell struck true, knocking out one of the rats immediately.

In front of both girls a red screen appeared that had a blue swirl going through the center of it. The swirl was about half the screen in width and height.

– Combat start –

`preemptive strike`

`Parvati's turn`

Parvati turn to Jasmine. "Do we have to kill them, or can we just knock them out?"

Jasmine looked over at the display above them. It said five out of six rats were still able to fight.

"I guess we can just knock them out if we need to" she said pointing at the combat display. "So let's take out these rats."

Parvati nodded, and raising her wand again fired a second stunning spell.

To Parvati's surprise the rats seem to lean just slightly out of the spells path, and leaning back as if nothing had happened.

`miss`

`jasmines turn`

"What just happened?"

Jasmine looked as surprised as Parvati did. "I'm guessing that the rats spell resistance allowed them to dodge the spell. I have no idea what their resistance is, however so we have no idea of what the system rolled."

Parvati frowned. "How do we determine our spell accuracy?"

"From what my mentor told me before I came back, our Hogwarts spells have a standard role. There's no way to increase that accuracy. At least as far as we could figure out."

Parvati nodded, and jester to Jasmine to take her turn. Nodding herself Jasmine raised her wand and unleashed a cutting curse.

`critical hit`

To the horror of both Parvati and Jasmine the wrap was cut in half.

grave accent wrap defeated.

Experience gained 3.

Gold gained zero. `

Before Parvati could ask Jasmine about the pop-up, the rats searched forward.

The first rat lunged for Jasmine, she deafly sidestepped the attack.

The second rat went for Parvati, who was frozen. The rat bit her on the ankle, causing Parvati to squeak in pain.

`Parvati takes two points of damage. `

The third rat lunged for Jasmine again, but again Jasmine sidestepped it.

The fourth rat had already been knocked out by Parvati, and the fifth rat seemed to be taking a deep breath.

"We need to take out that rat that's taking a deep breath" Jasmine said pointing to the rat as the pop-up for Parvati's turn came up.

Parvati nodded raising her wand, however she turned to Jasmine first. "What does that pop up mean by 3 experience?"

"Experience that we get through battle is how we are able to create spells" Jasmine said tapping something on the display and bringing up her status screen. "In order to create level one spells will need 10 experience points just to get started. For any additional damage, range, or affects that we want to add to the spell will need another 10 XP."

Nodding Parvati pointed her wand at the rat who was taking a deep breath, and unleashed a very powerful stunning spell.

To the surprise and relief for both Jasmine and Parvati the spell struck true on the rat, sending it flying into the wall. The other rats as if sensing real danger looked around and started to back away slightly.

`rat knocked out.

Experience gained 3.

status inflicted on enemy party.

Status "fear" in effect for 3 rounds.

Effectiveness of attacks from enemies opponents are doubled. `

Both Jasmine and Parvati stared at the pop-up in surprise. "I didn't know you could do that" Jasmine said smiling. "It seems you can inflict status effects just by using the environment to your advantage."

Parvati however looked a little sick. "What does it mean by status 'fear'?"

Jasmine smiled at her. "It means you scared them Parvati. It also means will have an easier time hitting them for the next 3 rounds of combat."

So saying jasmine rased her wand and fired her own stunning spell.

To jasmines true surprise the spell not only struck the rat she was aiming for, but hit the other 3 as well.

`super critical

Rat has been knocked out

Rat has been knocked out

Rat has been knocked out

And weparty defeated`

`experience gained nine`

In front of the two girls the rats vanished into thin air, including the one that had been cut in half. A blue swirl swirl around the girls, disappearing back into the walls revealing the Corredor that they have been walking through.

Parvati pulled up her status screen and looked at her EXP. "Can we create spells well in the middle of a dungeon?"

Jasmine nodded, pulling up her own status screen. "We can create spells so long as were not actually in combat at the time. If you wish to do so all you need to do is flip to your spells page of the character sheet, and then tap the blank line where you wish to place the spell."

Nodding Parvati reached out to her character sheet, turned to the spells page, and tapped the blank one at the top.

AN: and I think that's where I'm going to end it this time around. This chapter is getting a little long for me, but I'm not done writing this particular dungeon. And yes the girls are going to be creating their first spells in the next chapter. We will also be seeing what boss they have to face, since Myrtle told them that the basilisk wasn't going to be there for the girls to fight. I'll be honest myself I'm looking forward to writing the next chapter, and I hope you're looking forward to reading it. See you all next time.
