This season follows a new format. This season depicts the spring semester of 2019-2020. The second half of the season depicts the fall semester of the 2020-2021 year. It chronicles the Degrassi 9th – 12th-grade teenagers and follows their lives as they deal with the typical issues and challenges of teenage life, such as sexuality, alcoholism, eating disorders, and self-esteem.

DEGRASSI: THE NEW ERA

We're in a dark forest. A dim light peeks through the trees. As we zoom closer, we can see the main cast of Degrassi: The New Era sitting around the campfire with smiles on their faces.

Shay carries smores to the group then takes a seat with Jack, Decker, Alicia, and Red. Decker smiles as he finally feels happy, but suddenly they disappear one by one, with Jack being the last. Decker extends his hand for Jack to grab, but his smile fades as he realizes he's alone.

Madison enters the bathroom on the phone. She notices something that takes her by surprise. We see the bathroom mirror covered with "FRAUD." She releases an inaudible scream as her phone drops to the ground.

Amina and Harriet are slow dancing, but Harriet quickly starts to run away. Amina follows behind, but Harriet has disappeared. She looks over to the campfire to see her friends waiting for her and cheering for her. Amina takes a deep breath as she runs towards her friends.

Ke'Anna sits alone by the stream when Manny takes a seat next to her. Lily also takes a seat beside them. They look into the water to see their reflections, but then their reflections merge to become Brandon. Lily hits the water, causing the reflection of Brandon to disappear. Ke'Anna and Manny glance at each other with guilt in their eyes.

Carina and K.C take hold of each other hands. They move closer to each other as if they wanted to kiss, but Carina pulls away when K.C becomes Isaiah. Isabella, Kenzie, and Marcel laugh within their group until they see Matthew passing by with a smile. They then turn around to see Matthew and Xavier fighting. They show confusion on their face as they see two Matthew's.

We return to the campfire, where Emma sits in Spinner's arms. They watch as Jack exits from the trees with his cap and gown on. Gavin and Cristi run to their uncle with smiles.

The other students appear and begin to dance around the fire. They are moving carefree and with joy. The fire gets more prominent, and fireworks explode in the sky. We see…. UNCOVER THE SECRETS forming from the smoke.
