And there's been plenty of talk about the decision Zuko makes at the Crossroads of Destiny.
But what if Azula and he had met again during the period of time that she and her friends were staging the coup on Ba Sing Se?
Say we do a role reversal.
Instead of Katara going for tea… it's Azula.
She goes in for some tea, trying to relax before the big confrontation with Long Feng, and her eyes WIDEN when she gets her order and Zuko is staring at her with the same Wide eyes.
There's a BUNCH of ways this could go….
My favorite is that she basically DRAGS him outside, and they start to quietly argue and fight, before he notices the bags under her eyes (coups are stressful)
"... Are you okay Azula?"

Oh. My God.
That unbelievably long, awkward moment of silence as they just stare at each other like "What the fuck?" before something in Azula's brain just snaps and she drags Zuko outside, and he lets her because he's too shocked to even think about fighting.
And then they're just SCREAMING at each other because for getting in their way and ruining everything, and they're losing their shit…
And Zuko notices Azula is not okay and forgets what was happening and goes full into big brother mode and Azula just doesn't know how to deal with it because "How dare he imply that anything is too much for me to handle?" but also "It's so sweet of Zuzu to care" and her brain crashes again.
So Zuko awkwardly offers to talk and she accepts because, at this point, why not? It's not like anything is making sense anymore. Zuko tells Iroh he needs to leave work earlier because a… (Friend? Acquittance? Enemy? What the hell is Azula supposed to be again?) somebody needs some support and Iroh lets him because, by the awkwardness, he assumed it was Jin or some other girl Zuko was crushing on, and spends all day completely happy and oblivious.
And Zuko and Azula just… talk. They're unbelievably awkward and constantly waiting for the other to attack, and once Azula is done venting she just wants to get the hell out of there because this is so fucking weird…
But when she gets to the door and quietly says "Thank you, Zuzu" before leaving and they both think that maybe this whole mess wasn't so bad after all.

Because that's exactly what I was thinking!
And the next day she comes by again, on his lunch break.
And they eat together, and just ... Talk.
(neither of them realize they totally look like they're dating with how close they are, and the quiet words)
