Chapter 62: Invasions end

A swarm of doom eyes fly in a flock towards the white house. He floats and lands towards the entrance where a whole army of black arms await for their mistress. He lands and they salute for one of their leaders. He comes out from the swarm in a suit. He walks down the line towards the door. They open it as he walks by. People crying, cleaning. He notices Princess sally on the phone. He walks up to her. she turns around to see him awaiting for her to get off.

Sally: "I'll call you back, Elias."

She hangs up. He sticks his hand out.

Lev: "Princess, we haven't properly met yet. I'm Lev."

Sally: "Hi."

Lev: "May I ask where lady despara?"

Sally: "She's in-"

*Gunshot*

Lev: "There's my answer. Thank you."

Sally: "Yeah."

He walks towards the area. He follows where the black arms are. Some get up in formation for Lev.

Black arm: "My lord."

Black arm 2: "My lord."

He points at them all cool like a boss. He continues walking towards the one of the hallway rooms. He spots a certain blue hedgehog waiting outside. He's in a bad mood.

Lev: "Hey, blue man."

Sonic turns to see another freakshow.

Lev: "Remember me?"

(The prison escape)

Sonic shakes his head no and looks down.

Lev: "Guess you don't recognize me in my true form."

Sonic: "I have no idea what you're talking about. Get lost."

Lev: "Oooohhh, someone is having a rough day. Where is-"

Two doors burst open from the side and Despara walks through with Gloom and Terios.

Lev: "My queen."

Despara: "Lev, so glad you made it."

She walks up to him and they French kiss. Gloom gets a confused look on his face. Lev glares at Gloom while making love to her. He lets it slide knowing their business is complete.

Lev: "I saw the lasers from the sky. I guess I missed the show?"

Despara: "Sadly."

Lev: "No matter. We shall resume to our greater plans. So where's the president?"

Despara: "Oh he's lying down with his brains splattered over his office."

Sonic overhears her while leaning against the wall. His teeth grunting hard. He feels tense and anger but tries his best to keep it down. He walks away to another place ignoring the stuff that's going on. Despara notices the blue hedgehog walking away.

Despara: "Hey, did you meet the blue one?"

Lev: "I wouldn't be around him right now if I were you, someone's having a bad day."

Despara: "Isn't that so?"

She follows him while Lev discusses with Terios and Gloom.

Lev: "Gentlemen. I'd say you boys have done a real fine job, but it's far over."

Gloom: "No kidding."

Lev: "Is it true that he's here?"

Gloom: "He's in the room. With the corpse of the former president."

United nations meeting board room

A lot of people are in the room. Shadow kneels down above the body that's covered. A few GUN Soldiers and lieutenants have their hats off or saluting to their greatest leader ever. A few pints of blood can be seen stained on the ground around him.

Shadow: …

He clutches his fist together. Tails, knuckles, Amy, Vector, Espio, Rouge, and Omega around or near him. Shadow thinks about the missions he asked him on. he remembers when they called in for the photoshoot with him. He breathes in and out letting his emotions pass the moment.

Shadow: "We'll stop them. You have my word."

He stands up back to his face of contempt. He walks away as others approach him to say their condolences. He walks away going somewhere else he pulls one of the chaos emeralds out looking at it. He notices Amy walking away somewhere else. He knows how she is. The empathy starts to kick in for him and proceeds to follow. She walks behind a hallway pillar near the courtyard they were just in. seems like the one place in the entire estate deserted. She has a moment to herself thinking until Shadow walks in.

Shadow: "Are you okay, rose?"

She looks behind to see her boyfriend.

Amy: "Oh, hey Shadow. Didn't notice you were following me."

Shadow: "How are you feeling?"

Amy: "Not well."

Shadow: "We were not going to stop this from happening, you know."

Amy: "I understand that. I'm just wondering about you and your brothers."

Shadow: "I'll be fine. But what do you mean about the two of them?"

Amy: "It's about Gloom. He loved Maria like she was everything to him. So did you. I see that you two are the same but different."

Shadow: "I am not along with his plan, if that's what you're assuming."

Amy: "Well maybe but, the only question I have for you is why didn't he join us or you join him? Including Terios deciding even though he seems like a nice guy?

Shadow: "I stories may have a similar beginning but we are all not the same. I did love Maria. There's not a day that goes by that I wish I could've don't something to save her or change the outcome of it all but I can't but I knew her wish was for me to protect this planet and the people who live here. I mean that's when you came and begged me to help. I found my true purpose again but lost my memories. After I defeated Black Doom and regained all my memories, I learned to let go. To put the past behind me. I did hold a grudge against the same men but it was also me being born that all those people on the ark were killed. They knew of my existence and tried to erase me. Their mission was me. They were trying to protect their homeland too, which is understandable. Me and Gloom were raised from two different worlds. His was Black Doom. Mine was Maria. Terios, on the other hand, I think I can understand his side. I think he's trying to find his purpose. Find out who he is like I had. I went through hell trying. He's trying to discover the secrets of his past. I can respect whatever decision he makes. Gloom on the other hand must be dealt with."

Amy: "But he did allow us to live."

Shadow: "He does have a heart. We all do. He just repaid his debt, is all. Knowing him, he will continue his plans, unless someone stops him."

Amy: "Yeah. I'm actually worried about that. Terios on the other hand seemed so nice."

Shadow: "Seemed nice? I just met him today. He tried to kill me and he would have"

Flashback

Amy starts remembering the Dark aurora surrounding and fueling Terios. He used Sonics blade to kill him. He looked scary. She remembered back on the island when Shadow tried. She remembered the monster Gloom turned into on the Ark.

Flashback ends

Amy: "Shadow?"

Shadow: "Yes."

Amy: "Do you think something is wrong with you?"

Shadow: "In a sense. I believe so. Things have been happening to me that I can't understand."

Amy: "So how's your arm and y'know?"

Shadow: "It's funny you should ask. Ever since I got these new rings on me it hasn't come back."

Amy: "Are you going to kill them?"

Shadow: …

He stares at Amy. he doesn't know his next words. He looks around but can't escape. He could teleport but doesn't want to run away from this conversation.

Shadow: "I…I-I… uh. Amy I… well… Dammit i…"

Amy: "I see. Well, I guess there is no other way. All my efforts with him were for nothing. I always can't seem to help."

Shadow: "No. Don't say that. You actually been a good help. To Gloom. And especially me."

Amy: "Then why has nothing changed? Why won't he listen to reason?"

Shadow: …

Shadow can answer that but doesn't know how to express it. He's more of the introverted kind. He doesn't say a word.

Amy: "I couldn't protect sonic, I couldn't change gloom. I feel it may drive me insane."

She buries her head in her hands thinking too much.

Amy: "I'm scared Shadow. I'm afraid to what might happen to you. Just seeing Sonic hurt so badly by your brother terrifies me. And your other brother turning into a monster just terrifies me. I seen what you could do shadow and it hurts me to see you-"

Shadow grabs Amy's hand and pulls her close to him. She looks up to see Shadow with his face. His eyes closed.

Shadow: "Amy… the honest truth. I'm terrified as well. The fact that I just met another clone terrifies me. It makes me question on what my creator Gerald's intentions were. It hurts knowing that somewhere along my years of living I may have been created to be nothing but a weapon of war. I found where I belong in this life, thanks to you."

Amy drops a tear and puts her head in shadows chest fur. He holds onto her with one hand while the other is down on his side. She clutches his hands. Rouge walks in on them.

Rouge: "A-hem!"

They turn towards her.

Rouge: "Hope I wasn't interrupting."

Shadow: "No. you weren't."

Rouge: "Our rides are here. We're going home."

Omega walks up behind her.

Shadow: …

Amy: "Lets go home."

They all walk out together in the hallway. The three enter the hallway. Cal stands in front of them. He just made it.

Rouge: "Well Cal, nice to see you made it."

Cal smokes his cigarette quietly. He stares at Shadow and Amy giving them a death glare. He glares at the medals both Shadow and Amy have around their necks. He takes the cigarette out.

Cal: "So the united federation falls and you're given a medal of honor by the president himself. You little lady are the biggest fool of us all."

Shadow: "Excuse you?"

Amy: "What did I do?"

Cal: "If it wasn't for you and your band of freaks, that bastard would be dead by now and none of this would have happened!"

Shadow turns evil looking. His face turn hazy yellow. He harnesses the power of his gift he chooses not to let out but his rings help keep his conscience intact. His quills start frizzling and wavy. He holds Cal by the mouth and jaw pinning him onto the wall. He's already hurt and injured from their first battle with terios. He struggles to move or get him off.

Shadow: "I suggest you choose your next words carefully."

Amy gets scared and backs away. Omega tries stepping in but Rouge holds her hand out in front blocking him. He doesn't intervene.

Shadow: "She gave us a chance to figuring things out, while you were only interested in killing what can't be killed."

He squeezes hard into his face. He muffles a little loud from the pain. He can barely breath.

Shadow: "You want our existence to have an easy answer. Just because we are unknown beings from a deep dark corners of space. Gloom was right. People like you are a disease. You fear the unknown and drag those around you down just to feel like the world owes you. You're the disease and we're the cure ready to-"

Shadow stops right there. He suppresses it down. He drops him and steps back. he starts pulling himself together. He looks at Cal hurt and holding his face on the ground. He turns to see Amy staring and horrified at shadow. He looks back at rouge and omega. He looks down at Cal whos frightened yet keeps his contempt.

Shadow: "You talk to her like that again… I'll bring you fear."

Cal: "I'm not afraid of you."

Shadow: "I beg to differ."

He looks down at Cals pants. He soiled himself. Cal looks down now noticing it and covers it up. The black hedgehog stands up. Amy walks to him and holds his hand. They walk away. Rouge walks in front of him.

Rouge: "Not so tough now, are you?"

Cal: "Get out of here before I have you court marshalled."

Rouge: "Who's gonna court marshal me. there's no one left in charge."

Omega: "Correction; General Abraham or at least now considered president Abraham still resides."

Cal: "He's alive?"

Omega: "Before the presidents departure he spoke to congress to have him as president of the united federation. They all signed the order to have him commissioned into office after his death."

Cal: "Hmph. Guess we still have a leader after all."

Rouge: "In the mean time I'll be in touch."

She walks away and omega follows. They catch up to Shadow and Amy walking down the stairs.

Shadow: "So, what are you going to do now?"

Rouge: "Nothing much really. I'd say we better get back home. It's not like we are any help here in our conditions."

Amy: "You're not going to stay and help."

Rouge: "Pssh. Nah, I'm just their little ol spy. One day I gotta stop doing this. In the mean time for now, I think I deserve a little vacation. So tin can? What are you going to do?"

Omega: "I shall remain with the fox. Miles "Tails" Prower. He shall help with repairs."

Shadow: "Heh. Smart move scrap metal."

Omega: "Permission to ask about you Shadow?"

Shadow: "Permission granted."

Omega: "Where are the black arm matter vials?"

Amy: "Oh yeah. You still have them, right?"

Shadow: "Gloom has them now. In return he let us keep our portion of the emeralds."

Amy: "Why?"

Shadow: "Like gloom said. I'd be a different person. He wanted me to drink them at first. I'm not sure what would've happen if I did but I chose not to. Besides I had no reason for them."

Rouge: "Hmmm. Something tells me it won't be the last time hearing about those things."

Shadow: "Omega. Find out where those lasers hit."

Omega: "Affirmative."

Rouge: "So where do you think those beams hit?"

Shadow: "Four areas around the globe. I overheard eggman and them talking about Holaska. They wanted something destroyed there."

They walk down the hallway. They enter around the front where Gloom is. Lev turns around to see team dark including Amy.

Lev: "Wow."

He walks towards them. He bows his head towards Shadow.

Lev: "My lord."

Shadow: "Huh?"

Lev: "I mean that's what you would have been but you squander it, traitor."

He looks at Amy. Shadow stands in front of her.

Shadow: "Heh. Traitor? I was never with you."

He glances at him silently. He focuses on Amy.

Lev: "So you betray your own kind for this? How far you have fallen."

The pink hedgehog unleashes her Piko hammer.

Amy: "Why don't you take a walk, before you'd get hurt.

He steps back and glances back towards Shadow smirking.

Lev: "I promise you this Shadow. You will share the same pain as we endured. That's a promise."

He walks away. He opens the door and walks out to see Despara enjoying her glass of wine. A black arm soldier brings her a concealed case. He opens it showing her a dark blue and purple orb.

Despara: "Good. Leave it."

He hands her the case. She leaves it on the ground. Lev walks up.

Lev: "Care to share some of that."

She hands the glass to him and he drinks it.

Despara: "Now our plans can continue."

Lev: "I wish in was here to see the fireworks."

Despara: "Oh you will. I already have word that they are working in Holaska to uncover what's left in the old comet."

Lev: "Did our other doctor in the ocean call ahead?"

Despara: "It hit it's mark. They are now able to go down and access the sunken materials needed."

Lev: "Now we can move onto getting the doctors egg fleet."

Despara: "mmhmm."

Lev: "So why hasn't Gloom and Terios killed them in there?"

Despara: "Your guesses good as mine. Said something about making it too easy for us."

Lev: "Hmph. You sure we can trust him?"

Despara: "I say he has been a successful help towards us. Especially Terios."

Lev: "He does stand away from his duties a bit."

She walks next to him. she runs her fingers on his shoulder and onto his face.

Despara: "Oh relax. They both did manage to bring us close to our objective. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have made it this far."

Lev: "Yeah. you're right."

Despara: "Plus with him and the doctors help, we'll be able to bring these humans to their knees. So relax baby. You'll be standing on top of things."

Inside

Terios sits down with the stuff tiger in his hand. He notices it has a tear on it. He looks around and goes into some drawers of the white house. He finds a tack and some cloth. He starts fixing the torn open area of the stuffed tiger. He stuffs the white silk cloth back in and starts sewing the open area. Gloom comes around the corner to check on him.

Gloom: "Why are you playing with toys?"

Terios: "It's not mine. I'm fixing it."

Gloom: "Meh, it's just a dumb stuffed animal."

He ignores his brother and continues sewing it back in the body. He finishes it looking good as new. He looks around for any children. He walks through the halls limping trying to find the same little girl he remembers dropping it earlier. He finds where the humans are being held. A few GUN guards stand with the crowd as a bunch of Black arm soldiers have them held up in a room where nobody can leave. Terios enters and looks around. A few eyes stare at him. He walks around looking for the little girl. He notices a few kids but he remembers clearly what she was wearing. He spots her sitting down next to a women. He approaches them with the stuffed animal. The mother holds her close. He hands the stuff animal to the youngling. She gets scared for a moment but notices what's in his hand. She reaches for it.

Girl: "Thank you."

Terios bows his head and walks away. She happily plays with her renewed stuffed animal. The mother takes it away from the girl. She tosses it away.

Mother: "You don't know where that things been. He could have a disease."

The girl looks sad from hearing that. Another black arm lieutenant enters the room.

Black arm lieutenant: "Attention Humans. Your escorts are on their way. Be ready to leave."

Everyone stands up. they grab their belongings. A young boy picks up the tiger and hands it back to the little girl. She looks happy from having it back. she looks at the stitched gash that Terios fixed. The crowed starts moving in formation and she runs off. The mother looks and decides to chase her down. not without a few black arm guards blocking her path as she calls out her name. She pushes past them.

Terios walks down the hallway, heading to the front. He spots Shadow and Amy. He almost makes contact with them, not before he gets called out by somebody.

Girl: "Hey!"

He turns around to see the same little girl. She approaches him with the tiger. He kneels down with a smile on him and she hands him the stuff animal.

Girl: "You can keep it."

Play this for the mood if you choose. I suggest all the way for the rest of this chapter.

Sonic adventure 2 Event - Reflections

He looks confused and shocked. He looks at the tiger and her. he grabs the tiger and she smiles. The mother calls out her name.

Terios: "Thank you."

Girl: "Bye."

She runs back towards her mother who witnessed it. she picks her up and they both head back the way they came. Terios looks at his new stuffed partner. He holds onto it. It reminds him of his old buddy. He looks around to see Shadow and Amy gone. He decides to follow and find out where they are next.

Front of the white house

Lev: "And as I rule will you help me?"

Despara: "I'll be there with you. every step of the way."

She kisses him as he returns the favor. The wind starts to pick up and a white hedgehog followed by a few helicopters. General Abraham exits one along with a few other gun soldiers unarmed. Silver floats down towards the entrance.

Lev: "Hey it's you. What took you so long?"

Despara: "You know this one?"

Silver: "I'm the guy who kicked his ass in westopolis."

Lev: "Heh. For the record I let you all win. I was already injured from your blue boyfriend."

Silver: "Where is he?"

The door opens with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Sally walking down.

Tails: "Silver, you made it."

Silver: "Guess I was too late."

Knuckles: "You think."

Despara looks at Sonic. She likes to see his misery. She notices sally walking and grabs her shoulder.

Sally: "Hey."

Despara: "Feel free to see me again. We can tango anytime. On the battlefield and in bed."

She winks and licks her lips.

Sally: "Ugh."

She pulls away and walks off. Sonic was staring back at them. He decides to wait. Abraham walks towards sonic.

Abraham: "Sonic."

Sonic: "You're too late."

Abraham: "I heard. Where's Shadow?"

He looks up to see more of them exiting. Team Chaotix and Dark walking down. Another chopper with Bunnie, Blaze, Charmy, and Antoine along with Rotor flying it. They all exit. Bunnie walks up to Sally and gives her a big hug.

Bunnie: "You alright sis?"

Sally: "I'm fine, thanks to you and Sonic."

Bunnie: "I see yall were able to find Sonic. So what happened?"

Sally: "We failed. We were too late to stop them."

She bows her head in shame. Bunnie puts her robotic arm on her shoulder.

Bunnie: "It's okay Sug. We'll get them next time. So how's sonic?"

Sally: "He hardly said anything when they… when they executed the president."

Bunnie: *Shocking* "Those rotten varmints killed him?"

Sally shakes her head up and down.

Bunnie: "Damn."

Sally: "They decided to let us live. We weren't worth the trouble to them."

Bunnie: "Well that's good, right?"

Sally: "It doesn't change the fact that we still lost."

Sally walks away. Antoine notices. He walks next to his wife.

Antoine: "Everything alright my beautiful bun bun?"

Bunnie: "Not everything but we'll make it."

The chaotix reunite fully again. Charmy hugs his best bros ever not caring they are injured and hurt. They don't care either. Vector embraces it. Espio smiles with relief knowing he made it.

Vector: "Never thought I'd be so glad to see you."

Charmy: "So did you guys win? What were they like? Did you kick some butt?"

Espio: "We'll explain everything when we're getting home."

He grabs charmy by the ear.

Espio: "Did you deliver the intel."

Charmy: "Yep and I got copies on three more flash drives in my back pocket."

Espio: "That is why you're the best."

Charmy: "I thought Aliese was your favorite?"

Espio: "We're having a moment here kid. Don't ruin it."

He hugs him close as Vector continues limping away. Tails and knuckles walk towards Shadow and Amy.

Tails: "I don't think sonic is okay man."

Knuckles: "He just got his butt kicked including me. Who wouldn't be pissed off after what happened today?"

Tails: "Yeah, you got that right."

Knuckles: "Gloom needs to be dealt with. Shadow and Amy can't keep this up with trying to help him."

Tails: "We know. He's made his intentions pretty clear."

Knuckles: "Well, next time we'll give him a fight he won't forget."

Tails: "Ha-ha. That's right."

Amy and Shadow are about to board a chopper but a familiar voice follows them.

Terios: "HEY!"

They turn around to see a limping Hedgehog bandaged up follow them.

Shadow: "Oh hey."

Terios: "You're leaving so soon?"

Amy: "Yeah. Gotta go home. Are you sure you don't want to come with us?"

Terios: "I'm sure. Can't abandon my family."

Shadow: "Family? He's using you y'know."

Terios: "I believe otherwise."

Shadow: "I have hope you'll figure it out."

Terios: "I can tell you this. Gloom. He's watching. He's always watching."

Shadow: "I'll keep that in mind."

He offers a hand shake. Terios looks down to see it and decides to take it. Despara notices from a distance and drinks her wine keeping an eye on him. They board the chopper with Rouge and Omega following.

Rouge: "Ta-ta handsome."

She blows a kiss towards Terios. Shadow looks back.

Shadow: "Don't be doing that to him?"

Rouge: "What? It's my signature."

They board the chopper. The rest of the group follows. Team Chaotix follows in staring at terios.

Charmy: "Uhhhh… Is that Gloom or Shadow?"

Vector: "Can it ya little stinger. He'll smash you to pieces."

Terios feels a certain darkness. Inside him from hearing that but lets it go keeping a calm expressionless face. Tails and knuckles walk by with silver staring.

Silver: "What in the-"

Knuckles: "We'll explain along the way."

He turns towards Terios.

Knuckles: "Still time to back out while you got the chance."

Tails: "You don't have to take up with them."

Sally walks up to Terios.

Sally: "You can be different, ya know?

Terios: "Still… I need the reason to which I was created."

Sally: "I understand there is always room for more of us."

The blue devil walks up towards them with his busted blue sword. He looks at Sonic. Sonic looks back at Terios.

Sonic: "You have a life man. A purpose."

Terios: "What is my purpose?"

Sonic: "You gotta find that out for yourself. In the meantime, you have friends in high places."

He sends out his fist up. Offering it to him. Terios doesn't understand but he follows through, delivering a fist bump that Despara sees and is suspicious by. They all board the chopper from the back of it. the whole other choppers full of people that were in the white house enter along with Bunnie being in the helicopter Rotor, Antoine, and Blaze are on.

Blaze: "So is that Gloom there?"

Bunnie: "Nah. They'll explain it better than I will once we get home."

Antoine: "Everything alright, ma petit chou-fleur?"

Bunnie: "For now at least hun-bun. Alright fellas, lets get out of here."

The choppers start to take off. Terios backs away. Amy sits next to a window staring at Terios. She waves for Terios and smiles. Terios does the same thing and backs away seeing them take off.

Silver: "So who was that guy?"

Espio: "You might want to buckle in for this."

It's been a long day. The sun is almost setting. The sky starting to clear up. Everyone is sitting down in the chopper. Amy lies her head onto Shadow's chest. He stares out the window and sees something. A black hedgehog. Not Terios. Gloom standing on top of the building. He smiles with his arms folded. Shadow sees him and Gloom stares dead back at him. the choppers continue flying without anyone else knowing. In the chopper Sonic looks at Shadow and Amy. He thinks to himself. He thinks about Amy.

Sonic conscience: "They look happy together. If it wasn't me, I'm glad it was Shadow. After all, he deserves her more than I do."

He pulls Blitz off and looks at Tails.

Sonic: "Yo Tails? Any chance you can fix this guy."

Tails: "Give me about a week or two. Or three for upgrades."

Sonic: "Do your magic."

He stands up stretching. He takes his medal off and hands it to Tails. Sally sitting beside him opens her eyes to see sonic standing. Silver, Espio, and Knuckles are conversating about the events that occurred today.

Silver: "So there was more than two of him."

Espio: "You could say that but for now that's all we know."

Silver: "How do we not know that there's a whole army of him out there somewhere."

Espio: "I doubt it. He said himself that there was only three of them."

Sonic walks towards the doors.

Sally: "What are you doing now?"

He opens the cargo doors. The wind blows in and Shadow, Amy and the whole crew stare at him. he looks back with a cool grin and falls down.

Shadow: "The wonders of that hedgehog is a mystery."

Amy: "Yet so daring, motivating, and cool at the same time."

He leans forward and drops down towards the ground. He has his eyes closed. He doesn't think about anything for a moment. Rotor's chopper and the other one full of people notice that he fell down. a kid on the plane watches as Sonic falls down towards a farm field.

Boy: "Look!"

Boy 2: "Its that blue hedgehog. He's so cool."

A large group of boys look outside the window and adults seeing the worlds fastest thing alive fall.

He lands onto his feet near a farm meadow. He runs through the farm as the workers shock to see him. he blows past the crops and hay. The wind brushes a tumble weed to roll like a ball as he runs home. He runs fast like the wind. He runs for his life. The boys look down to see the blue hedgehog run faster than anything they have ever seen. He parkours through towns and trees beating the choppers ahead towards mobotropolis.
