KYOKA POV
The day of our Provisional License exam had finally arrived. Everyone was nervous and trying to calm their nerves the best they could while on the bus to the testing site. I was no exception, the only issue I was having was that my usual source of comfort was sitting with someone else. Izuku had decided to sit with Todoroki, apparently he had something to discuss with Izuku. As tempted as I was to listen in on their conversation I decided against it. One reason was because Todoroki was a very secretive person and the second more distracting reason was Momo mumbling while studying different elements. It was a treat seeing the ever so elegant girl panic. I laughed silently at her antics while I flipped through songs on my phone.
It was still fairly early in the morning, but my phone had been rather busy. Izuku was sending me the occasional texts and making sure I was alright. It was comical that someone like him could care so much about others yet have little concern for themselves. Mama Joke had even sent me ten good luck texts. If I got that many, I was terrified to see how many Izuku received from her. The one that surprised me the most was my own mother. She had only sent one message that essentially said, 'best of luck see you tonight.' It was a little annoying but I'm sure she was doing everything in her power to keep my dad from calling every other minute. I prayed that tonight would be a good night with everyone.
As I stared at my phone I felt a light tap on my shoulder. Momo had a soft smile on her face. "Is everything alright Jirou? You seem a little out of it."
I shook my head. "It's fine, just a little nervous. I could say the same about you though. You've been rattling off different elemental combinations since we left campus."
Her face turned bright red as she tried to remain composed. "It's just some last minute cramming. We have a lot of unknown variables, so I just want to be prepared."
I couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. "That's just like you Momo. Both you and Izuku seem to be playing 4D chess while the rest of us play checkers."
Momo smiled softly before looking over to Izuku. "He definitely is playing 4D chess, I'm just playing regular chess. If he told us he actually had a quirk that allowed him to process information instantly I would believe him."
"I wouldn't go that far. When it comes to battles he's quick, but in your everyday situations it's a coin flip for him."
Momo looked at me sideways before going back to her book. "Those two have gotten rather close recently. I was completely surprised when you said we should sit together on the bus."
It was true, Izuku and Todoroki had gotten closer ever since Izuku went to visit his mom. "Izuku didn't tell me much, but apparently Todoroki found out about him."
Yaomomo narrowed her eyes on them. "Do you think it's safe to trust him?"
I shrugged as I stared out the window. "Who knows, but I think it's good for both of them. Izuku is slowly starting to build good relationships with people and Todoroki is no longer the unapproachable ice prince."
Momo's eyes softened a little. "Yeah, it's good to see everyone getting along."
"Yeah, this school is way too stressful to make enemies this early."
The irony of the situation wasn't lost on me. There were multiple clashes that could happen at any moment and sadly they all revolved around Izuku in some way. The obvious one was being instigated by Monama from class 1-B. We all just ignored him, but I was worried he was just one sly remark away from setting Izuku off again. The unseen war was Bakugo. This one was more me than Izuku, but it still would end badly for him either way. The wild card was Kaminari. It was pretty clear to everyone that he wasn't a big fan of Izuku. This one scared me the most because of everything that went down between Kaminari and myself. If that situation ever did explode I wasn't sure how our class dynamic would recover.
I felt another tap on my shoulder breaking me from my own thoughts. "Stop spacing out Jirou, everyone is already off the bus."
Looking around the bus, it was completely empty. I was astounded how I didn't realize everyone had already gotten off. I gave Momo a nervous laugh and smile. "Hopefully this spacing out doesn't happen during the exam."
She shook her head before blowing a stray strand of hair out of her face. "I won't let that happen."
I laughed as I got up. "I'll do my best to not make it a habit. I know both you and Izuku would take advantage of it."
Momo feigned her shock. "Someone as esteemed as me would never take advantage of a friend's dazed state to gain an advantageous position."
I rolled my eyes playfully at her before holding a jack to my mouth like a microphone. "Something that a person who is secretly crushing on someone would say."
Momo became flustered as I put my arm around her and pulled her in close. "Ji… Jirou! What are you doing?"
I used my free hand to point at a pretend board. "And the survey says?" We stood in silence for a second before I smacked one of the chairs causing her to jump. "You got the number one answer! You're going to the fast money round Momo!"
She pushed herself off of me. "Was that really necessary?"
I snickered while fixing my shirt. "Very much so."
"Ughhh the two of you can be insufferable at times." She tried to look mad at me but quickly started to laugh as well. "Come on, we should go, I'm sure they're all waiting for us."
Outside of the bus our entire class was lined up and listening to Pops. Thanks to my antics Momo and I had missed the majority of what he had to say. He really didn't care that we didn't hear his 'inspirational' speech. As he finished and we were preparing to head into the venue a familiar voice rang out taking all of our attention.
"Oh my God Eraser! You're here too?!"
Pops couldn't help but groan. I assumed this was an absolute nightmare of a situation for someone as private as him.
"I didn't think you'd be here Joke."
Mina looked between the two of them as her horns twitched. "Somethings not right here… is there something going on between the two of you?"
"No!/Yes!"
The two of them locked eyes before Mama Joke put her hands together to swoon. "The two of us were star crossed lovers from different hero agencies. One night a dastardly villain two stories tall attacked me and some friends on a night out. Like a shadow Eraser came from the darkness and saved us. When our eyes met that night a spark was lit in the both of us."
Mina and Hagakure started to squeal in excitement, while Pops just rubbed his temple in annoyance, muttering profanities. Momo leaned over to me. "Is any of that story true?"
"Surprisingly most of it. She exaggerated some parts, but that's to be expected. I'll tell you what really happened later."
Pops and Mama Joke continued to banter back forth about their alleged relationship. Our classmates seemed to enjoy the show and it seemed to calm everyone's nerves. My eyes naturally wandered to Izuku who had a devilish smirk.
"Oh no, Izuku, what are you thinking?"
"Hey Mr. Aizawa the other day I was passing the teachers lounge and I heard them talking about how you were going to propose soon."
There was a collective gasp of our entire class as well as Mama Joke who looked elated. The glare that Pops was giving Izuku was intense enough to scare a weeping angel away. To keep my laughter from spoiling the fun I bit Momo's shoulder to stifle it. The sudden shock caused her to jump before glaring at me.
"Jesus Jirou, at least buy me dinner first."
I looked at her with apologetic eyes. Hopefully she would understand why I did this. While the rest of our class was causing an uproar about the fake proposal Mama Joke gave each Izuku and I an appreciative smile. I was sure this made her day and I was even more so looking forward to telling this story to my parents.
When Pops finally got everyone to calm down he was trying to rush us inside to prevent another disturbance. Sadly that wasn't in his cards today, before we even got halfway to the door one of Mama Joke's students approached Izuku. It was nauseating how similar the two would have looked if Izuku's hair was black.
"Wow, you're the quirkless kid who made it into the hero course. Talk about being an inspiration, best of luck today."
I sucked my teeth as he extended his hand to Izuku. The smugness in the way he talked set me on edge. He didn't mean a single word he said. Both Pops and Mama Joke watched intently to see if they needed to step in.
Izuku looked at his hand for a moment before smacking it away. "A piss poor silver tongue and a fake smile won't get you anywhere. If that's all you have then it's going to be a short day for you."
A smirk spread across the kid's face. "That's pretty big talk, do you really think you can back it up?"
Izuku shot a glance at Mama Joke who had a worried expression. He walked past him as he gave his answer. "I wouldn't be here if I couldn't."
"Fuck he's so hot." Momo flicked my forehead which greatly annoyed me. "What was that for?"
"You were talking out loud. Now let's go get ready before another confrontation starts."
After we had all changed into our costumes we gathered into a small room. The first stage of the exam was straight forward. Everyone has three targets on them and if they get lit up you're out. In order to pass you had to eliminate two people. Oh and just as an extra kicker only the first hundred people to finish would go on to the next stage. The first stage was set to be more challenging than we originally thought.
When we finally made it into the arena we were given fifteen minutes to create space and come up with a plan. Thankfully we had a master tactician in Izuku and Momo wasn't too shabby herself, even if she didn't believe it fully.
Izuku was deep in thought as the countdown was getting closer to zero. An annoyed sigh was the only thing he had given us for a plan. I was starting to worry. "Is everything alright?"
"No, I think I got a rock stuck in my shoe."
I looked at him deadpan before dragging a hand down my face. "I meant with the plan genius?"
He looked at me before looking up at the sky. "Oh, yeah we're completely fucked. I'd say there's seventy percent chance we all get eliminated right off the bat if we don't all stay together."
A lot of the class became dejected at his statement. Uraraka seemed to take it the hardest. "That can't be possible!"
He looked at her and shook his head. "No, it is. Just think about it. Every year UA puts its first years on display for the country to see. Everyone watches it, we all were recognized constantly for the next couple weeks. Any school with half a brain would analyze the sports festival to get a basic idea of our quirks."
Momo nodded in agreement. "They all know us, but we're in the dark about them. It's a good strategy to take out the known variable."
"Exactly, that being said, if we survive the initial attack our chances go up exponentially." Izuku went back to looking at the sky. "Hey Koda, are there any animals around that you can talk to?" Koda responded with a silent nod. "Good, go ahead and have some start scouting out the area. Get an idea of how many schools are surrounding us. Kyoka and Shoji do the same, the more information we have the better. Todoroki, Bakugo If we're all going to make it through this then we'll need your help. Are you in?"
Todoroki nodded. "Sure, your plan worked out last time, I have no reason to say no."
Bakugo and Izuku stared at each other in silence as the tension rose. "Let me take a shot at that cocky extra from earlier and I'm in."
Izuku smirked at him. "He's all yours."
A devilish smile spread across Bakugos face as he nodded in agreement. We had five minutes until the first stage began and Izuku was in his element. It was amazing to see how smoothly and quickly he came up with things for us to do. All the lessons he had with the principal were on full display.
When the timer finally ended all hell broke loose. Multiple schools started to encroach on our position, while ignoring the others. They had a single minded focus to take us down as quickly as possible. Thanks to the scouting we did, we knew there were around eighty students to our twenty. The sheer difference in numbers wasn't something we could easily overcome. I knew we had Todoroki and Bakugo who could easily handle themselves, but the majority of us wouldn't be able to.
When the first two schools were at a safe distance they unleashed a swarm of balls at us. Todoroki quickly erected a wall of ice to block the majority of them. The few stray ones that got through were blown up or melted by Bakugo and Mina. The attackers backed off as quickly as they appeared after seeing us stop the first assault. The short pause in action brought a sense of relief.
Uraraka felt the biggest sense of relief as she cheered. "Awesome work you guys! We got this in the bag now!"
"Hell yeah! That was so manly you guys!"
"Stage two here we come!"
While the majority of the class started to lower their guard, Izuku, Todoroki, Momo, and Bakugo kept a watchful eye out. Izuku turned to Shoji who was looking out for the next wave. "Did you get an estimate of how many people that were here just now or any quirks that were used?"
"There were roughly thirty people and I didn't see anything that looked like a quirk."
Izuku looked back up at the sky thinking of what our next move should be. "They're taking it slow, they don't want to show their hands yet. I'm guessing they won't use their quirk unless they know it will work or an act of desperation. Yaomomo, go ahead and get everything prepared for Operation Nighthawk."
Momo nodded before pulling out her book. While she was creating whatever Izuku had asked her to, something interesting caught my ear. "Hey Izuku, we need to be careful, that guy from earlier has a quirk that causes tremors."
"How many and where are they?"
"Southwest mountain range on the second ledge. It sounds like there's about ten of them."
He nodded before turning to Bakugo. "Hey Bakugo, can you and Sero handle them?"
"I don't need his damn help. He should stay and help capture the rest of the extras."
"It's either him or Mineta."
Bakugo sucked his teeth. "You better be able to keep up Flat Face."
Sero groaned as the two of them took off. "Come on man, it's not that flat."
The two of them weren't gone for long before the explosions started. From what I was able to make out between explosions, it sounded like it was going well. A smile was present on Izuku's face as things had been going smoothly so far.
"Hey Koda, are your birds in place for the other schools?" He nodded vigorously in response. "Alright, Todoroki, Kaminari, do you guys mind giving them a warm welcome?"
Kaminari laughed while electricity sparked around one of his hands. "I'll try not to take all of them out."
Todoroki sent out a wave of ice across the terrain before blasting it with fire. The ice turned into puddles of water. Taking advantage of the wet terrain, Kaminari sent a surge of electricity through them. The resounding screams was enough confirmation that our plan was working.
"Yaomomo, is everything ready on your end?"
Momo smiled as she positioned a cannon to point into the sky. "Just give me the signal."
Izuku smiled before turning to Tokoyami. "Are you ready to let loose?"
"When the sky turns black, my enemies will fall before me."
Izuku laughed at his reply. "Well alright then, Hagakure and Aoyama go with him in case things get out of control. Kyoka, keep an ear out for if things go south. Everyone else, get ready to secure a spot."
Izuku nodded at Momo, signaling her to fire the cannon. The resounding boom echoed throughout the battlefield. In the sky a thick black smoke spread across the arena blocking out the majority of sunlight. The other schools started to panic, the ones they assumed were an easy target were fighting back and winning. It didn't take long for them to start turning on eachother once Tokoyami and Dark Shadow started ramping. Even though the black smoke made it harder for everyone to see, our class had quite a few people who were good at locating enemies. Between Kodas birds and my pinpoint hearing people were falling left and right. In total it took about twenty minutes for all of class 1-A to secure a spot in the first one hundred students.
After we secured our spot we all were instructed to wait in a break area. As nice as it was knowing that we passed the first part of the exam, it didn't sit right with me. Everything had gone smoothly, way too smoothly, the pieces just fell into place. It felt more like practice than an actual battle.
"What's with the sour face Kyo?"
Looking up in a slight annoyance I saw Momo eating a sizable plate of food. "A few things. One, what's with that nickname? You haven't used that sense before the sports festival. Second, what's with all the food? Third, they have food here?"
She laughed before sitting next to me and offering me some. "Is it so wrong for me to use it when you've been using my first name for a while now?"
I chucked before taking a pinwheel off her plate. "No, it's just weird after not hearing it for so long."
Momo laugehd as well. "As for all the food, creating that cannon and smoke screen used a lot of my lipids. I'm just trying to refuel before the next stage. Also how did you not notice? The entire back wall is all tables of food in drink."
Taking a better look around the room I noticed she was right. There were maybe fifty people here and that was including the twenty of us. "Sorry, I guess I just had something on my mind."
"Is it that Midori's plan worked out too well?"
I looked at her somewhat surprised. "You thought the same thing?"
She nodded as she finished chewing her food. "Almost everyone did. It's terrifying how he quickly calculates the right moves."
I looked down at the ground while playing with one of my jacks. "I don't want us to become dependent on him. Even in class he has a near perfect record in training when his plan is followed. The only times he loses is when he's paired up with Kaminari or if he's against Todoroki or Bakugo."
Momo put her plate down, sighing. "You think that we'll get so used to him being there that we won't be able to think on our own in critical moments."
I threw my hands to cover my face. "Yeah, don't get me wrong I'm glad we made it through the first stage, but I wonder what would have happened if Izuku wasn't there? Would we have all split up? Would you have taken the lead? Would we all have been whipped out? I mean this is the fourth time I've personally relied on his plan to get through things. He came up with two plans during the USJ attack, he had the plan today, hell he even told me how to beat Present Mic during the finals, and that's not even including our day to day events."
Momo relaxed in her seat while she took a minute to think. I could hear the sound of her breath pushing away her stray strand of hair. "You know I can't really speak for your personal life, but I don't think you're right about the hero part."
I looked up at her, shocked. "What?"
"But I also don't think you're wrong."
My expression turned into one of confusion. "I don't follow you at all."
She started to softly laugh at my antics. "Look, we're all striving to be the best heros that we can be. I definitely see how we could become reliant on him and that's something we all have to keep in mind, but it wouldn't be fair to him if we didn't let him use his strategies. The only way for him to improve is to get real life practice. Kyo, we have three whole years of this. There's going to be plenty of time for all of us to be confident in our own plans. There's no need to rush these things.
Momo's words had really put everything down into perspective for me. She was right, we're still high schoolers trying to reach our dreams. There's no need to get disappointed for following someone who's good at what they do.
Smiling, I leaned onto Momo's shoulder. "Thanks for the pep talk Momo, you've always been there for me… and Izuku too."
She looked over at me before handing me the plate. "Careful, don't give me any more hope."
I laughed while shrugging. "No promises, I mean I did mark you already."
She rolled her eyes before placing a hand over where I bit her. "Yes, I've come to realize that you like to mark the important things in your life."
Sitting up I looked at her confused. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb, everyone saw that mark on Midori's neck." She looked at me with a smirk. "But I guess I should feel special."
My eyes went wide as the realization sunk in. "Oh shit we need to cover that."
"It's too late, everyone's already seen it. Iida even told Mr. Aizawa."
I shook my head. "That's not what I'm talking about, we're having dinner with my parents tonight."
Momo looked at me blankly while I panicked. "Can I come? I'd love to see how all this goes down."
I narrowed my eyes on her. "No, you'd just bring up how I bit you today as well."
"Oh come on Kyo, I would never do that." She did her best to give me an innocent smile.
I threw my hands in the air, nearly knocking over the food. "Why does everyone forget I can tell when they're lying to me?"
She raised a finger in the air. "Technically that was all sarcasm. I wasn't trying to lie."
I rubbed my temples in annoyance. "It's the same difference Momo."
She scrunched her face while rocking her head. "Technically it-"
A siren came on over the intercoms day interrupting us. The monitors around the room simultaneously switched to show the entirety of the testing site.
"Oh no, it seems like there has been a large-scale villain attack on the city. It is your job as heros to step in and rescue any and all bystanders. Push button to detonate the city."
I sighed and shook my head. "Someone let that poor man get some sleep."
There was an explosion on screen before smoke blocked the cameras. When the smoke finally cleared the entire testing site was in ruins. As the camera zoomed in on individual parts of the city we could see people amongst the rubble.
"We have some lovely actors who will be playing the part of injured bystanders. You know it's probably not the safest idea for us to throw people right into an area we recently set a bomb off in, oh well. The second and final stage of the exam will end when everyone is safely evacuated from the danger zone."
I couldn't help but snicker at his last sentence. "Danger zone."
Momo looked at me oddly. "Is something funny?"
I looked at her confused. "Kenny Loggins."
She stared at me blankly. "Who?"
I sighed before standing up. "Izuku, would have found it funny."
"Alright, I think that's about it, best of luck and try not to turn yourselves into injured bystanders as well."
The walls of the room we were staying in began to shake. In a matter of mere seconds the rooms walls and roof collapsed outwards putting us back in the arena. Everyone quickly sprang into action trying to group up with people they knew. When our class came together we took off towards the city area. As we ran Izuku slowed down so he could run with me. It was odd not seeing him leading the group, instead he let Momo and Iida take the lead.
"Alright everyone, prepare yourselves. We will be entering the danger zone shortly."
Izuku couldn't help but snicker to himself. "Danger zone."
I smirked at him as we drew closer to the city. "I knew you'd understand it."
He gave me a smile. "Hey Kyoka… I feel the need."
I looked at him slightly disgusted. "How could he even think about something like that right now? I mean we're in the middle of a major exam for Christ's sake." The confused look on his face perplexed me as well. As we both awkwardly looked at each other, what he said finally clicked as I smiled. "The need for speed!"
Izuku put his arms out and started making plane sounds. The fact that he could do something so ridiculous in a situation proved how far he had come. I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh at him. Before things got too out of hand I sent a jack at him and sent a small vibration to get his attention.
"That's enough Maverick, we don't know how this part is being scored so you should keep the plane noises to a minimum."
He stuck his tongue out at me before fake saluting. "Yes ma'am."
We all came to a stop when we reached the edge of the city. The destruction was extensive and seemed overwhelming for a bunch of students. Even with all the noise I was able to hear a muffled voice. Running in blindly wasn't the best idea I ever had, but it was better than doing nothing. When I reached the muffled voice I found what looked to be a 'young boy' who was crying and breathing erratically.
"Hey, everything is going to be alright, we're here to help." I squatted down and started to look him over for injuries.
"My… my Grandpa. He was over when the building went boom! Then I flew here and there was another boom and I and I."
I put a jack to his chest before pulling his head into mine. "Everything is going to be alright, we're going to save him. But I need you to match my breathing ok."
He nodded as he continued to whimper. We sat there for a minute taking deep breaths. Slowly his heart rate and breathing returned to normal, even his whimpering started to slow as well. When he had fully calmed down I gave him a smile to help reassure him that everything was going to be alright.
"Ok, now where exactly was your grandpa at when everything happened."
He looked at me and pointed a couple buildings over. "He… he was over there. Please, you have to save him."
"It's alright, we're going to save him, but first we need to get you to a safe place. Your head is bleeding so we need to get it checked out."
He nodded. "O… Ok."
As I gave him a smile I heard Izuku call out. "Kyoka, is everything alright?"
I picked him up before turning to face Izuku and the rest of the class. "It will be, his grandpa is a couple buildings over. Izuku, I need you to take him to the relief area to get checked out."
Izuku gave me an odd look before smiling. "You got it."
"Thank you." I handed him the boy. He was a little resilient in letting go of me, but he let Izuku take him.
When the boy was finally in Izuku's arms he gave me a nod. "I'll see you on the other side."
Izuku took off towards the designated relief area while the rest of us started to look for more people that were caught up in the attack. Between Koda, Shoji, and myself it didn't take long for us to find the 'boys' grandpa. Luckily he only had a broken arm so Iida was able to move him to safety quickly.
I was glad Izuku wasn't here for the moment. Even though Momo had just explained how letting Izuku use his brain would be helpful in situations like this, I was being selfish and wanted to prove to myself that we could pass without his plans. Thankfully it was going smoothly so far. Momo took the helm and made sure we were evacuating people as safely as possible. We ended up breaking into smaller groups to help out at places that we would be the most effective in. It was amazing to see how everyone who were just enemies not even an hour ago could work together to save people.
Sadly things weren't able to stay this smooth. Roughly thirty minutes had gone by since the second stage of the exam started when a second explosion echoed through the arena. Everyone looked on in horror as the explosion came close to the relief site.
"Oh my, the villain and his underlings have returned to finish the job. You must protect everyone until all the bystanders have been evacuated."
I felt my heart stop as I looked over with worry. I knew this was only an exam, but it felt almost too real. I knew they wouldn't actually try to kill any students, but I couldn't shake the fact that I just sent Izuku into the most chaotic part. I was about to take off towards where he went when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
Momo had stopped me, her eyes were determined to keep me here. "He'll be fine, right now we need you here the most. The quicker we save everyone the quicker this ends."
I sucked my teeth before taking a few deep breaths to calm down. "You're right, let's keep searching."
Even though Momo had straightened out my thoughts again, I was still worried about what was happening with the team fighting off the attack. With all the chaos going on it was difficult to tell who was an injured bystander and who wasn't. Thankfully with each person we found it became easier and easier to tell the difference. It took about forty more minutes for the rest of the bystanders to be rescued. A siren rang out when the last one was safe letting us know that everyone was safe. Knowing that the exam was over sent a mixed wave of relief and anticipation over me.
When the announcement over the intercom system finished Momo gave me a smile and nod saying it was ok for me to go. I was met with a sight I wasn't expecting at the relief area. Izuku was partially covered in what looked to be cement while having a casual conversation with Gang Orca. It caught me off guard seeing Gang Orca casually shatter the cement that encased his arm without causing any damage to Izuku. As much as I wanted to go interrupt them I decided it would be best to let them be.
Once everyone that partook in the second stage had changed back onto their uniforms they announced the results. It was a dream come true seeing mine and Izuku's names on the board. I couldn't help but shed a few tears knowing that he was one step closer to his dream. Off in the stands I could hear Mama Joke doing her happy dance again. Even though she seemed to be the happiest person right now I did feel bad for her. She was going to have to hide her excitement since her entire class was taken out during the first stage.
As I laughed I saw Izuku staring at the board in disbelief. "Is it really that hard to believe that you passed?"
He shook his head. "No, it's just Bakugo and Todoroki didn't."
Turning back to the board I scanned it with wide eyes. Izuku was right, neither of their names were on it. "How? They're at the top of our class?"
Izuku looked down as he started to think. "I know Todoroki and another student got into it during the second stage. I guess that caused him to lose enough points to fail."
I looked over at Todoroki who had a determined look on his face. He didn't seem to be taking it too badly. "And what about Bakugo?"
He just shrugged. "It's true he's gotten better, but he still has his moments." Izuku started to laugh. "He probably got mad and yelled at someone for not taking care of themselves."
I shook my head before leaning into him. "Don't think about it too much. You need to save some of that brain for tonight."
Izuku shuddered slightly. "Wow, I completely forgot about that."
It was my turn to laugh at him. "It's not the only thing you forgot about."
He tilted his head before looking at me confused. "What else did I forget?"
I pressed a jack to the mark on his neck. "You forgot about that."
He smirked at me before taking my hand. "I didn't forget it, I felt like showing it off."
I felt my face heat up as I looked away. "You're going to cover it up tonight! I'm not dealing with that as well as embarrassing stories tonight!"
He squeezed my hand as we started to walk to the exit. "Of course."
Standing in front of the bus was Pops. His expression was hard to make out. He eyed each and everyone of us as we waited to get on. After a minute of intense silence he sighed. "As much as I want to expel the two who failed today I'm not going to." A wave of relief rushed across everyone as we cheered. Twitching in annoyance, Pops activated his quirk shutting us all up. "That being said, you all still have a lot to work on. Todoroki, you can see just how much previous actions can affect you in the future. Be more mindful of the way you interact with others. Bakugo, you have an incredible innate ability, don't let that attitude and short temper hold you back."
The two of them nodded in understanding. Izuku had a small smile on his face. I wasn't sure if it was because he was happy that Bakugo failed or if it was because he was acknowledging his own weakness. Either one was fine with me, I just wanted Izuku to keep smiling. As we were starting to board the bus I smiled before turning to see Mama Joke walking up to us.
"Eraser, you know our classes should do some training together in the future." Her smile and eyes tried to hide her true intentions.
Pops scoffed at her. "Sure, but you do realize the results will still be the same."
Her eyes narrowed on him as her smile turned into a smirk. "Don't get too cocky, Eraser, you all just got lucky today."
He shook his head before making his way to the bus with a hand in the air. "See you around Joke."
Mina and Hagakure were fangirling over the whole interaction between the two of them. Deciding to add some fuel to the fire. I locked eyes with Pops. From his reaction he knew exactly what I was going to do. Smirking, I turned to Mama Joke. "See you later Mrs. Aizawa!"
The mixture of glare from Pos and ringing in my ears from the squeal that Mama Joke had just released made for an uncomfortable situation. Could this possibly cause issues in the future? Maybe, but I'd worry about that later. Was I in for one hell of an ass chewing tonight? Definitely, but I knew both Izuku and Mama Joke would help lighten the blow. Was it worth it? Definitely, the smile on her face assured me that it was the right thing to say.
A/N:
Alright, so the part of the story I was looking forward to writing the least is officially done. The reason as to why I wasn't looking forward to this is because I am absolutely horrible at writing combat scenes. I know, what type of person writes a story in a combat based world knowing they can't write a full combat scene? Well me of course, because why the fuck not… also this story was never meant to be combat driven so I never put much thought into them. That however won't be the case for the next story. Oh speaking of the next story it's time to put out the straw poll for the next story.
The poll will last six weeks from when this chapter goes up. For those of you who don't feel like counting weeks it will be from 12/21/21- 2/1/22. I've chosen to not reveal the ships as of now. I don't think it would have a huge sway over the voting, but I still want to keep you in the dark for now. When the poll ends I will put at the end of the chapter which story, the ship, and a synopsis of what the story is about. I can't wait to see what you all are wanting to see next.

EDIT: Alright so this is why you shouldn't do notes at 2AM after a full shift at the hospital. So for anyone who can actually do math January 1st isn't six weeks, February 1st is. So lets all pretend I put that the first time.
