"Ugh. Why does my head hurt so much?" I asked as I sat up from the spot I was laying in. As my eyes opened, I saw that I wasn't in my bed like I thought I was. No, I was laying in an alley. "What the hell? How'd I get here? How long have I been here? I'm getting ahead of myself, one question at a time. Where am I?" I walked out of the alley to try and get my bearings. When I began to look at my surroundings I saw something I've only seen in movies and comics. The Hall of Justice. It couldn't be like the real Hall of Justice though, right? I mean superheroes aren't real. I suppose they could have built a replica. There's one in Six Flags isn't there? It stands to reason there could be more than one. I began to walk towards the building. There's a surprisingly large crowd here though. I finally managed to squeeze my way in to the building and the first thing I see are seven enormous statues. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Flash, The Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman. These things are so gigantic that Superman's foot was bigger than my entire body. On top of that, the statues feet were like 15 feet above me to begin with. Come to think of it, this looks exactly like The Hall of Justice in Young Justice, weird. I was going to continue walking around when Batman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Flash, Robin, Speedy, Aqualad, and Kid Flash walked through the doors I just came from. 'Whoa, Déjà Vu.' Wait a second, if this is based off the Young Justice version of The Hall of Justice, that means I should be able to see the room they're about to walk in. I then saw a staircase leading up. 'Bingo.' Before I got a chance to go up the stairs, Cyborg entered the building.
"Everyone remain calm!" He warned. He looked down at his arm, which appeared to be scanning something. "Please remain still and no one move."
'Damn these people are good. No wonder this place is so packed.'
"I detected a strange energy signature. I just need to find the source and make sure it's not dangerous. This should only take a moment."
'Really, really good.' Cyborg kept moving throughout the room, occasionally checking his arm scanner. I noticed he was getting closer and closer to me. 'You don't think...' I never got to finish my thought, because Cyborg was now right in front of me.
"You." Said Cyborg, looking solely at me, "Come with me please." He turned around and began walking towards the door the other heroes walked through just before he arrived. He turned around to wait for me to follow. I quickly shook off my surprise figuring this must be some kind of surprise fan prize thing or something and followed him.
"Cyborg?" Asked The Martian Manhunter when we entered the room.
"I detected some kind of strange energy coming from this kid. I didn't want to expose any civilians to a potentially dangerous energy, so I brought him in here so I could analyze it."
'Strange energy? These must be very good actors with amazing special effects and costumes or...'
"It appears to be a similar energy signature to when we went to that other Earth to help with The Justice Lords." Continued Cyborg.
"While you deal with that," Said Batman, "Aquaman, Flash, Green Arrow, and I are going to have a quick debrief on the coincidence of four ice villains attacking on the same day. Martian Manhunter can stay here with you. We shouldn't be long."
"That's it?" Asked Speedy. "You promised us a real look inside, not a glorified backstage pass."
'These actors are following the scripts from the Young Justice show? Not very original.'
"It's a first step." Said Aquaman, "You've been granted access few others get."
"Oh really?" Questioned Speedy, gesturing to me and then the people taking pictures on the other side of a raised window. "Who cares which side of the glass we're on?"
"Speedy, you just need to be patient." Said Green Arrow.
"What I need is respect." Argued Speedy, "They're treating us like kids. Worse! Like sidekicks! We deserve better than this." Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Robin said nothing. "You're kidding right? You're playing their game? Why? Today was supposed to be the day, step one in becoming full-fledged members of the league."
"Well, sure," Said Kid Flash, "but I thought step one was the tour of the HQ."
"Except The Hall isn't The League's real HQ." Said Speedy. "I bet they never told you it's just a false front for tourists and a pit stop for catching Zeta-beam teleporter tubes to the real thing, an orbiting satellite called The Watchtower." Batman glared at Green Arrow.
"I know, I know, but I thought we could make an exception." Said Green Arrow, as Batman gave him his famous Bat-glare, "Or not."
'Ok, wow, the Bat-glare is terrifying up close, and it's not even directed at me. Yet, probably at least."
"You're not helping your case here, son." Said Aquaman, "Stand down or..."
"Or what?" Demanded Speedy, "You'll send me to my room? And I'm not your son! I'm not even his. I thought I was his partner, but not anymore. Guess they were right about you three. You're not ready." He threw is cap on the flow and stormed out. And then an alarm went off.
"Superman to Justice League." Said The Kryptonian, appearing on a large monitor screen, "There's been an explosion at Project Cadmus. It's on fire."
"I've had my suspicions about Cadmus." Said Batman, "This may present the perfect opportunity to in..." He didn't get to finish because Zatara appeared beside Superman for a separate alert.
"Zatara to Justice League. The sorcerer Wotan is using The Amulet of Attan to blot out the sun. Requesting full League response."
"Superman?" Asked Batman.
"It's a small fire." Answered the Kryptonian, "Local authorities have it under control."
"Then Cadmus can wait." Said Batman, then activating the Justice League communicator, "All Leaguers rendezvous at Zatara's coordinates. Batman out." He then turned to Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Robin, "Stay put. Watch him." He said looking towards me. And then, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, and Cyborg left.
'Very amazing special effects.'
"Now what?" Asked Kid Flash.
"Isn't it obvious?" I asked. 'Well, I know the script, I might as well interact and take full advantage of this fan prize thing.' Everyone looked at me. "We investigate Cadmus."
"We?" Questioned Kid Flash.
"What is Project Cadmus?" Asked Aqualad.
"Don't know." Answered Robin, "But I can find out."
"Whoa! How are you doing that?" Asked Kid Flash, impressed that Robin is able to hack the Justice League computer.
"Same system as the Batcave" Robin and I answered at the same time. For a second, everyone stopped and looked at me as I just smirked. 'This is going to be so much fun, and I am go to take as much advantage of this as I possibly can.'
"Let me save you some trouble Robin." I said, "Project Cadmus is a genetics lab right here in D.C., and as you're about to find out, that's all that Batman knows about it. I however know more, if you want to know?" 'Let's see how far I can play this.'
"Access granted." Said the computer.
"Let's see." Said Robin, "Project Cadmus. Genetics lab here in D.C. That's all there is."
"How could you possibly have known that?" Asked Kid Flash.
"I could answer that." I said, "Or, you could investigate yourselves and prove to Batman and the others that you're worth more than just a babysitter for little old me."
"Solve their case before they do." Said Aqualad. "It would be poetic justice."
"And they're all about justice." Said Kid Flash.
"But they said stay put." Said Aqualad.
"For the blotting out the sun mission, not this." Justified Robin.
"Wait. What about him?" Asked Kid Flash, pointing at me.
"I'll stay here, nice and safe." I said. 'Or I might secretly tag along.'
"Well, if Rob's going, I'm going." Said Kid Flash.
"Just like that?" Asked Aqualad, "We're a team on a mission?"
"We didn't come for a play-date." Said Robin.
