On With The Story!

Princess Shiloh wandered down the hall of Nelson castle, following the voices echoing at the end of the corridor. Tugging at the tall wooden doors, the small brunette entered the drawing room to find her five older brothers Daniel, Josiah, Micah, Elijah, and Judah lounging upon the couches and carpet, tossing a ball amongst themselves.
"Look!" Shiloh announced, waving the letter in her hand excitedly. The smile on her face faded slightly when none of the boys even glanced in her direction, instead continuing to pass the ball amongst themselves.
Shiloh sighed heavily, then, balling her fists at her sides, opened her mouth and yelled "BOYS!"
Micah, startled by his little sister's voice, whipped his head towards her, then yelped in surprise as the ball smacked directly into his cheek. The tall brunette turned on his younger brother, who had thrown the ball by mistake. "What was that for?"
"You stopped looking!" Judah protested, holding up his hands.
Shiloh picked up the ball, and stuffed it into the pocket of her blue dress, ignoring the protests of her big brothers. Plopping down on the couch next to Daniel, the youngest princess brandished the letter.
"Guess what this is?" Amid the grumbled responses she received, Judah called out "Is it the menu for dinner tonight?"
The others groaned, but Shiloh plowed on. "It's an invitation to the Wilshire Ball tomorrow night! Even though mom is away visiting Mary, they've invited all of us!"
She looked around excitedly, only to find that none of her brothers shared her enthusiasm. Her face fell a little as she asked "Why aren't you excited?"
Josiah rotated himself on his couch until he was sitting upright and explained. "No offense Shi, but these fancy balls aren't a lot of fun for us."
"We have to dress up, talk to people we barely know, and take baths beforehand!" Daniel lamented, looking horrified.
"But you get to meet new people too! I know lots of girls are going to be there, you could meet someone nice!"
For a moment, the five boys stared at Shiloh, and then, one by one, began to laugh.
"What's so funny?" she protested.
"We can't talk to girls!" Elijah exclaimed, looking at his brothers for support.
"They always smell so good...I get distracted and I don't know what to say to them." Micah agreed.
"Plus Judah always tells them about his Carrot costume." Daniel put in.
"For the last time THAT WAS A PHASE!" Judah wailed, as his siblings chuckled.
Shiloh composed herself first. "Well, that's not going to happen this time, because I'm going to help you."
Josiah raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Because you're my brothers, and I want to help you."
Elijah crossed his arms. "Mom said you had to, didn't she?"
"Well...she implied it," Shiloh conceded, "But I also think you guys need some help." She grimaced as Judah reached for a bag of Cheetos and began to lick the cheese powder off a cornmeal treat. "Lots of help…"
Daniel laughed. "No, we don't! We don't need girls to make us happy, right guys?"
"Yeah!" the other four responded.
Shiloh cocked her head in sympathy. "Are you sure?"
Daniel's confident face melted immediately. "No…" he whimpered, as Micah awkwardly patted his back.
"Come on guys, you can do this! There's going to be lots of girls at this ball, it's the perfect place to find wives for all of-"
"Wait, wait, wait, WIVES? Who said anything about wives?" Elijah protested.
"Oh, you didn't know?" Shiloh asked casually. "Mom's only been saying for the past year that you're all old enough to get married and stop lying around the palace like bumps on a log. I thought for sure you would have listened to her at least once. Oh well."
"How did we miss that?" Daniel asked his brothers.
Josiah shrugged, "I mean, we have been pretty busy riding horses, rock climbing, feeding the cat…" He trailed off and looked at Shiloh. "Wow, maybe we should start looking."
"But why do we have to go to this ball? Huge crowds make me nervous." Judah explained.
"Because mom said if you don't find a girl in the next two months, she'll kick you out and you'll have to go live in Sandersbury Hall."
"Oh, that's okay, I'm going to inherit Sanderbury anyways." Josiah said confidently.
"But...there'll be no staff." Shiloh deadpanned. The group gasped in collective horror, for each knew that living with their brothers without a cleaning staff would be a smelly experience.
"Can she do that?" Judah asked.
Shiloh shrugged. "She's the queen...so yeah."
"Oh man! We really need to find wives!" Micah lamented.
"How does mom expect us to do that in only two months?" Daniel protested. With a smirk, Shiloh placed the invitation on his lap.
"By going to the ball." she whispered playfully, before standing up to head for the door. "Now that Mary's married, you have no excuse."
But Judah was having none of it. "Okay, this is just too much pressure on too short of notice! I'm not going to this ball, I need more time to prepare myself."
"Yeah!" "Yeah, me too!" "Good idea!" The other's chimed in.
"We'll go to another ball, Shiloh." Josiah told her. "We do have two months."
Shiloh smirked. "I understand, take all the time you need." Stepping out of the room, she raised her voice, making sure her brothers could hear her.
"Stella, could you help me choose a dress for the ball tomorrow? It looks like I need to find a husband since I'm going to be the next one to get married at this rate!"
Instantly, all five heads in the drawing room snapped towards the door. Elijah looked at his brothers.
"There is no way she is going to that ball by herself."
The loud sounds of scuffling and thumping could be heard through the halls of Nelson Castle as the five brothers raced after their sister.
"Shiloh wait!"
"We're coming with you!"
"Don't even think about going alone!"
"Can I wear my carrot costume?"
"NO!"
