"I still can't believe you're going on a date with John Cena." Beth said to Natalya.
"For the dozenth time it's not a date." Natalya shot back while she was putting on her eye liner.
Beth smirked and giggled. "Sure it isn't."
"I'm serious Beth. We're just friends going out to a dance club and nothing more."
"Relax. I believe you. I'm just messing with you."
Natalya looked at herself in the mirror. She was wearing tight jeans with a black shirt and black jacket. She put on heavy make up.
She looked at her best friend. "You think John will like this? Or do you think I'm over doing it?" she asked.
"You need to relax Nattie. I don't think John really cares how you dress and how you look. You just go out there and have some fun." Beth replied.
"Sorry. I'm just nervous."
"Don't be. I know John. He's a sweet guy. He knows how to treat a woman right."
Natalya's eyebrows went up. She grinned at Beth. "How would you know Beth. Did you and John... You know..." she teased.
Beth eyes went wide. "Nooo. No. No. No. We've never dated. And we certainly did not, you know." Beth replied. She could feel herself blushing. "We may have went out a couple of times. But it wasn't anything serious." "We kissed once. And that's it." "I've never had any feelings towards John." "Okay I'm done talking about it."
Natalya touched her arm. "Don't worry. I believe you." she said.
"So when's your date?" Beth asked. Natalya glared at her. "It's not a date."
Natalya looked at her phone. "In about an hour." she said. "You ready to head out?" Beth asked.
Natalya took a couple of deep breaths. "Yeah I'm ready. Let's hit it."
At the dance club
"Where is he?" Natalya wondered looking at her phone. "He's supposed to have been here 10 minutes ago."
"Relax Nattie. I'm sure he's running late." Beth said, trying to calm her friend down.
"I don't know Beth. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." Natalya said.
"Hey Natalya." Both of them looked up to see John. She could feel her heart pounding. "H-Hey. John." she replied softly.
Beth suddenly stood up. "Well I'm just gonna be, you know, over there." she pointed at a random direction. "Let you two have your fun." she added before walking away.
John took a seat. "So. How have you been lately? Since... You know." he asked. She gave him a small smile. "I've been good. Thanks for asking."
They chatted for about an hour, talking about their lives before wrestling, about their hobbies other than wrestling. As time went on Natalya started to feel more comfortable around John.
They started making jokes. Talk about their favorite non-wrestling celebrities.
They didn't drink too much of course.
He then stood up. "You want to dance?" he asked, offering her his hand. She blushed slightly, and she smiled. "I'd love to." she said grabbing his hand as he led her to the dance floor.
He showed off some of his best dance moves. Feeling bold Natalya did the same.
And she felt great. She was actually having a good time.
From a distance Beth stood by the bar smiling as she watch both John and Natalya dancing.
Her smile disappeared when she noticed someone walking towards them. "Is that..." Her eyes went wide. "Oh no."
"WHAT THE HELL!" Both John and Natalya stopped dancing to see a pissed off Tyson Kidd.
"Tyson? What are you doing here?" she asked. "What am I doing here? What are you doing here with him?"
"What I do is none of your damn business!" Natalya shouted. "Oh. So that's it? After we broke up you decide to start dating him?" Tyson pointed to John.
"Whoa. Hold on. Calm down. We're not dating." John said. "The hell you're not."
"Tyson please. You need to stop." Natalya.
"So you're taking his side? You stupid bitch!" Natalya was taken aback.
John was mad now. He stood in front of her. "You don't talk to her like that." John replied.
"What are you going to do about it tough guy?" Tyson challenged, getting up in John's face.
"Don't be doing this. Not in front of her. She doesn't have to listen to you." John warned.
Tyson the hauled back and punched him in the face. "Tyson! Stop!" Natalya shouted.
He looked to punch John again but John side stepped and Tyson just tripped and fell down. A couple of other people were able to hold him down until cops arrive.
"Are you ok John?" Natalya asked frantically. She saw his right eye was black and a bit swollen. "Don't worry. I'm okay. It's not the first time that's happened." John replied.
Beth soon joined them. "I swear I had no idea he was going to show up here." "It's okay Beth. It's not your fault." Natalya said.
"You want to press charges?" the officer asked John. "No. I'm okay." "We were just leaving anyways." Natalya said.
Later
"I'm so sorry John. I had no idea Tyson would do that." Natalya said, feeling guilty as she checked his eye. "Nattie I'm fine. Nothing to worry about." "A bag of ice will do the trick."
The three of them took a cab back to the hotel. Beth excused herself to her room leaving John and Natalya alone in the hallway.
"I actually had a great time tonight." Natalya said, smiling widely. John smiled back. "Yeah. Me too Nattie. That was before..." Both of their smiles disappear.
"Yeah. But other than that, I had fun."
"Same. Hey, if you like we could do it again sometime. Well, without the fighting." John suggested. "Yeah. I'd like that."
"Well it's getting late. I see you later." He then leaned forward and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Natalya stood there frozen. "Uh yeah. See ya." she replied before heading into her room.
She put a hand on her cheek. She couldn't believe John kissed her! Even if it was on the cheek.
She couldn't help but smile for a long time. Maybe this could work.
She tried not to think about it too much as she went off to bed.
