(Are you sure you want to do this partner? This time there will be no miracle, you won't make it out the other side) a deep yet concerned growl sounded.

Silence permeated throughout the dark room lit only by candlelight for a few moments before another voice much softer replied.

"Yeah... i'm ready Ddraig" Issei Hyoudou replied with calm confidence that was becoming more common from him as of late the dragon noted.

(I still do not understand why you insist upon this, even with the most optimistic view it's a suicide mission with an 80% chance of failure, why give up your life for those ungrateful hags who threw you away after you gave them everything!?) the dragon known as Ddraig angrily stated, his rage bubbling within the sacred gear towards those girls so violently the teen could feel it flowing through himself.

It took longer this time for the boy to answer his partner.

"Ddraig... the reason I fight, is to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Like those kids, I fight to make the world a better place for them and the same applies for the people i've fought with for so long" the brunette answered honestly only making the dragon more regretful to lose him.

(But after what they did, after all you sacrificed for them!? You still wish to give your life for theirs?) Ddraig questioned his host unable to understand how the boy had such a loving heart after having it crushed so many times.

A flash of crimson and a warm smile crossed the teen's mind.

"She gave me a second chance at life after Raynare murdered me, without that I would have bled out on the floor and died a hopeless pervert. Thanks to her I was able to rise up the ranks and become someone I could be proud of, what happened hurt but the pain was nothing compared to what i'll feel if I allow her to be killed when I could have done something to prevent it" Issei replied spilling his broken heart out to the dragon one last time.

Said dragon was speechless for the first time in a long time, he was upset the partner he'd grown to care for was going to give his life to save people he didn't deem worthy of such mercy however he knew it was simply how his kind heart worked and there was nothing he could say to convince him otherwise now.

There was a dimension splitting roar as the room shook and dust fell from the ceiling as the flames atop the candles flickered out leaving the room in darkness.

'Not long now' Issei thought to himself as he fought to keep his heartbeat steady.

(They've engaged the beast) was all the dragon said and Issei stood upon hearing his words heading outside the small cabin he'd called home the past few months.

Lightning flashed across the dark sky illuminating it for brief moments as the mighty boom of thunder and torrential downpour of freezing rain accompanied it. The wind was whipping through the teen's unruly hair and dark clothing, the cloak he wore billowed behind him as he stood stoically looking in the direction of black smoke.

The energy of the beast could be felt across the entire universe he was sure.

"Well Ddraig, this is it, my final swan song" Issei stated aloud and the dragon inside choked up slightly.

(Partner, no... Issei, you were one of the best hosts i've had the pleasure of knowing and I will miss you greatly in the next life) he sadly replied.

"Me too buddy" was all the brunette teen replied with, a single tear leaking from his left eye could be seen briefly before it was swept away by the wind to the heavens above.

With one last clentch of his fist, Issei Hyoudou summoned the Boosted Gear for the last time and warped onto the field of his final battle...

Look I know I keep doing this but seriously it's not my fault, blame my stupid overactive imagination for thinking up stories so I have to write them down!

Anyway yeah this is the prologue to a story I thought up a few days ago where Issei will perish in a final battle and then be reincarnated along with Ddraig inside the Boosted Gear due to their strong connection. From there we'll move to a new protagonist 15 years later when he awakens the Boosted Gear and see how he interacts with the devils and supernatural world differently.

Like with the Little Nightmares story, I leave the fate of this fic up to the readers so leave a review if you wanna see where this goes!

In other news progress on the next chapter of 'HvZG' (Human's vs Zombies and a Ghoul?) is coming along well and I expect to have it posted by the end of November at the latest so stay tuned for that.
