Tenten and Lee coordinated an attack while Takamitsu was the bait of a plan on luring some ninja out. It resulted in them obtaining both of each scrolls, leaving them with an extra one to spare. Upon reaching the end of the exam at a room in the tower, the team deciphered the message on a nearby wall and Guy sensei appeared through the smoke.

"While there was never a doubt in my mind, I'm proud that you three made it for how you… did." As Guy opened his eyes, he saw the three in near tatters of scratches, cuts, and with Takamitsu in an arm cast. He cut the conversation short and led the three to a preset room one with food, a warm bed, and a nice aroma of cinnamon.

"God I hope the food here's free." Takamitsu plopped head first onto the first bed he could reach.

"Didn't you listen to sensei? They're bringing us food to the dorm." But Takamitsu didn't listen, he'd already passed out face down. While Lee kept his neutral glare at the door, Tenten overviewed that the team was still together and that they passed the second exam

Sixteen hours later, time was concluded for the exam, and for whomever's passed the criteria was met with the distasteful attitude of the assumed proctors. Turns out, too many teams had passed the exam despite cutting the competition well beneath half the heads that entered. So there were preliminary rounds of fighting until one either croaked or died. Lee like in the canon series was unlucky to face Gaara, And just before the fight got bad, Takamitsu saw just how far Lee's potential could go. It was awe inspiring, but then heartbreaking to see him in more debilitating shatters than what's recoverable.

Tenten was up next, and she had to fight that sand nin's sister Temari. It almost felt like a rigged system how the second member of team guy would go against that sand nin group back to back.

"Electricity is weak against wind." Takamitsu informed Tenten.

"Well you got any other bright ideas for this fight?"

"Tire her out, get in close, and snatch that fan from her."

"Getting close might be the only option I have."

"And remember the second and third scrolls have reverse polarity-"

"So if I can charge the fan, it become's a magnet!" Tenten's mood elevated over this quick brainstorm.

"You only get the element of surprise once, use it wisely."

"Thanks." and with that she assumed an aggressive stance just before starting the match. In both her hands was smoke bombs, waiting for the millisecond that the match started. It begun and she threw them all pulled to make a hexagonal pattern. She weaved four signs to fake a jutsu.

"Lightning clone jutsu!" She exclaimed. She jumped back into the smoke while Temari laughed. Temari rotated with her fan now out to clear the surrounding smoke. As she did, Tenten had a clone approach with an opened scroll, which read seal from the front. Temari performed a full forward swipe to disperse the clone, and the scroll plopped to the ground. Temari just in time had avoided a seeker's bolt from behind and went to deal with problem number 2. The real Tenten had managed to suspend herself in the air to hit Temari with a positive charged seeker's bolt from above. Tenten made two more clones to retrieve the first dropped scroll, and distanced her original self from Temari.

"I've had enough of your damn games!" Temari exclaimed and threw out a 360º wind blast which engulfed the stage.

Tenten just managed to have a scroll out to capture the released chakra, but the chakra was so strong, it perforated the paper in multiple areas. Temari now stood between Tenten and the unused scroll.

"Oh look at me, getting worked up over someone who's barely a Genin. And I thought kids like you would know that lightning is weak against wind types. Can I have someone in the crowd confirm that for me?" As she asked, the crowd remained dead silent. "Hmph, everyone's a critic these days."

But what Temari didn't realize was that wind moving around generated static, and the open scroll would slowly seep in the chakra that wasn't directly hitting the vessel. In a singular motion, Tenten spawned in a bo, and unravelled two scrolls of lesser chakra storage around the ends. She kept the rotation low, and made it look like an illusionary defense tactic to distract her opponent.

"What, still not saying anything? Are you lost kid?"

"Temari, you better finish this or I'm going to kill both of you!" Gaara grumbled, clinging a hand to his forehead.

As Gaara ordered, Temari went in for a solid strike from the hilt of the fan blade. Tenten vigorously spun the bo as she approached which caused the downed scroll to lurch out of its seal point. Temari dodged the jolt of electricity between Tenten and the scroll, but failed to realize that she had polarity guiding her back to Tenten. The charged energy diffused into her Bo, and Tenten launched the energy within feet of her enemy. Temari last ditch gusted her fan blade to dodge the lightning attack, and Tenten affirmed separation among Temari's primary weapon. Tenten threw her weapon and ran to the other end of the arena with Temari's fan to seal it into her bigger scroll. She swapped it with the dragon saber's previous spot.

But Temari was faster, and tackled her opponent before the sealing could be complete. From there, a plethora of swords and weaponry spewed from the scroll, and were scattered through half the arena. Temari striked a kunai downward while on top of Tenten, and she barely held it from inserting into her head. Tenten struggled as Temari's weight bared down. Tenten was finished and she knew it. All she could do was prolong the inevitable. And that more than likely saved her, because she had stented her leg under her arms.

Temari observing that she had no finishing move, she jumped back toward her fan and turned a whirlwind from all the downed weapons. Everyone had begun dodging sharp metal objects outside the match.

"Guy sensei, she's out of moves against her opponent." Takamitsu nudged his instructor. For it felt eerie that Guy had no response to Takamitsu's concerns.

Temari went in for a close quarters wind attack, and just before it was to be pulled off, Guy sensei halted the attack by holding the weapon in place. Temari understood that she had just won through disqualification, only she didn't have the satisfaction of truly defeating the opponent like Gaara had done previously.

Tenten rounded up all of her items, while Takamitsu was to prepare for the fight of his life, but it wouldn't be against Kankuro...
