She paced his building from across the street at least fifty times. Hearing the mundane thoughts of the people around her, Queenie Goldstien became more anxious. Several scenarios passed through her mind, with many greatest fears.
What if he doesn't remember me? What if he sees right through me and knows nothing of who I am?
It might kill me.
Queenie has been watching Jacob Kowalski for awhile, ever since the rain. She watched him struggle to open his own business, thrive, yet deal with his loneliness. Queenie ached for him each day.
It was the moment he was gone when she realized how much she loved this No-Mag she hardly knew.
She stopped and looked at his building.

There was a line out the door, but she would wait. She would wait forever. Queenie of proud of how well he was doing. Selfishly she wished that when he saw her, he would know her as he did before.
The bell made a cheerful chime as she entered. Queenie went immediately to the side, looking at the different types of bread. Jacob was talking with a customer. She could tell by his thoughts that he was happy and proud. Slowly she glanced over.
He looked up and saw her. Queenie smiled at his small smile as she read his thoughts.
"She's beautiful…..I know her…...How do I know her?...Why do I love her?...Queenie."
Her smile beamed as she read him recall her name. He knew her. He remembered her. He loved her. Queenie couldn't help but giggle at the complete relief and love she felt for this man. Jacob reached up and stroked the healed mark on his neck from his forgotten adventure.
Then he smiled at her.
Queenie approached the counter, tears filling her eyes at the love of her life knowing who she was.
And they were happy.
