Hospital food.

It was a thing that existed, Fubuki had heard stories of such things.

But damn if his mother was going to let him try it, because his and his sisters' food was home crafted perfection. For which the food afforded him the ability to hide from talking to his sister.

It was difficult.

The room was filled with flowers from multiple girls from school, beautiful and with a heady scent that reminded him of the outside. They were huddled in the corner of the room, where he could easily pull the curtain shut, yet there was no way to mask the scent. His stomach knotted up every time he looked at them.

Witch faded into view looking around quickly to make sure she wasn't surprising any unsuspecting nurses. She was elevated as normal, closer to the ceiling and floated down towards the flowers. "I'm starting to think this isn't a good idea..." She began as she floated to the curtain and looked over the assortment of flowers.

"What isn't?" Fubuki asked, trying to be a pleasant host.

"Well, your mom's been helping, and its confusing her and your dad to see 'more' flowers than what they carried showing up... and I umm..." Witch began to twist her hands around her wand, her face growing pinched. "The Duel Spirit world is on high alert about the attack, Ancient Fairy had a suggestion for helping. Only its going to be weird because well, if it works you're going to go from your wrecked states to something closer to your original conditions."

The curtain rustled as Witch came floating out with another vase in her hands, hiding her face behind the beautiful assortment of flowers.

"Its weird to think that their feathers could be burned into skin," Asuka noted before before she stuffed some wad of food into her mouth. It tasted like ash and smoke, as the corners of her eyes tightened up.

"Junko's arm is bad yeah," Witch nodded, her face twisting at the memory of when they removed the bandage. "But Red Eyes is searching for Dian at the moment..."

Fubuki shook his head in a rushed manner wondering if Witch saw his movement in time.

"Its not Junko, that's bad enough, its..."

A piercing wail filled the hallway, shattering Asuka's sentence as the girl dropped her box on the tray spilling the contents carelessly. She was out of the bed and running, the robe be damned while Fubuki followed hot on her heels leaving Witch hovering alone. The cry had been filled with agony and despair and Witch turned herself invisible as she put down the flowers. Floating out of the room the hallway was deceptively calm.

There was one nurse rushing into a room, and noise coming from said room. Further down the hallway she could see the nurses station and and several dark haired heads that rose up from the sound. She flew down the hallway and to the room where the noise came from even as Ryo and Kazu came stumbling out of their room. The pair ran as though they knew where to go and Witch followed the humans in turn.

"I'm hideous!"

Witch flinched as she heard the voice, high pitched in terror and low moaned in despair. Sounds that Witch wasn't used to hearing out of humans, making her uncomfortable as she tried to rejoin Asuka and Fubuki. She knew the rooms where everyone was staying, and her discomfort became laden with uncertainty and fear as she realized it was Momoes' voice. So different now that it took a moment before she realized it was 'her'.

Momoe had a tendency to sound light hearted enough to be an absent minded ditz now... Witch floated above the bodies in the room. There was a rolling tray that held a series of bloody, flesh clinging bandages and scissors, with rolls of clean fresh bandages resting next to them. A male doctor and male nurse were trying to hold Momoe down. While Asuka and Fubuki were talking, using soothing words that didn't look like it was reaching Momoe. While Asuka tried to push her way past the nurse so she could pull in and hug Momoe directly. Junko was trapped on her bed, sobbing and reaching out, but there was nothing she could do. Her leg left her trapped uselessly on her bed while hot tears pooled in her eyes. The room radiated this type of aching energy to appease an anguished soul.

Momoe was in a fit of wailing, half of her lovely face a burned mass of hot pink flesh scars, marked in a way that carried the appearance of feathers along the side of her head. Her hair had died and fallen out, her covered eye was paler than the other eye. She was looking around rapidly as though some distant part of her mind recognized something.

Something being 'wrong'.

"Don't look at me!" she screamed, in growing hysteria even as a nurse primed a needle and injected something into the IV that Momoe had been hooked up to. The bandages on Momoes' arm wasn't fully removed yet, and even there the burns looked worse.

Momoe was trying to push the arms holding her off as Ryo and Kazu tried to help. Ryo grabbed her still bandaged arm, only the back of his thumb rubbed against her exposed skin peeling it off. He moved his hand as though it burned yet Momoe didn't seem to see it at first. Her pale eye missing him as the normally stoic Emperors' facade cracked for a moment in horror.

Fubuki caught the look and grasped the tip of Momoe's chin before trying to hold her gaze. "You need to let the doctors do their thing, I know it looks terrible, but its going to get better."

"No, its not. How am I supposed to go to school looking like this? I look like...like?" Momoes' head swayed drunkenly. "I look like a slab of raw steak in a grocery store. I look... I look..."

Caught in a cocktail of meds introduced through her IV and the broken record of two words as they began to slur. Between the two nurses they began working to get Momoe to lay down while ordering the teens to leave so they could work. But it wasn't like Asuka and her friends were going to leave Momoe. "Its going to be ok." Was spoken like some Buddhist mantra over and over again as though it was going to somehow fix everything.

Kazu was left to the side of the bed, bumped into and redirected so many times in the rush that he ended up looking like a lost child. So Witch floated down and grabbed the sleeve of his top, pulling gently she found him easily moved. Guiding the broken soul, she brought him to Junko so the pair had someone to hold onto. Even if Junko couldn't see Witch, she readily attached herself to Kazu grabbing his free hand and rubbing it as she cried until he turned to her.

Feeling utterly useless Witch finally left the room, floating back into the hallway where she found Judai. Here was someone she could vent her frustration on! It was his partner that did this! All this mess was his fault!

"Why Yubel? Why did you have to do this? If you're angry at me then take it out on me! Why them? Why like this?" The collar of Judai's hospital gown was wet with soaked tears. He clung to the wall next to the door as though he couldn't take another step forward and stared at the ground. Trying to find a readout to explain how everything could go so wrong in the thin vein patterns of the tiled floor.

Another nurse approached and with a mere look into the room she guided Judai back to his room. Her hands on his shoulders, her voice soft, she had this matronly soft look about her, a Japanese version of Martha's kind eyes.

And no... No, no, Witch couldn't blame Judai... 'Well I can, but this isn't the time or place...' she thought as she resumed her trek back to the siblings room.

Witch went back to the flowers, looking among all of them and Momoes' voice echoed back in her head 'I'm hideous'. The school had gotten the alert that the 'King and Queen' had been attacked while in the Duel Spirit world. While the school knew and reveled in Duel Spirits, the rest of the world was unaware. Which was leaving the group in peace to recover, but this was... The girls were sending this flowers for their 'Ice Prince', it was sweet and Witch had originally thought it neat.

'I'm hideous!'

There were no flowers for Momoe or Junko.

No boys came to check on the girls, or flowers delivered with hopes of improved health. A sob from outside the room served as a racers gun, startling Witch into action. She snatched up all the flowers with a wave of her wand before teleporting herself to her card.

The world melted from its pale, sterile whites and grays to the familiar warm rich colors of the Izayoi estate.

"W-witch?" Mrs. Izayoi's voice was filled with surprise, the sudden appearance of bright flowers pulled her gaze from her book to the table in front of her. Witch turned to face her in a twirl of her gown, her lips twisted in a distraught expression. Realizing the living room wasn't as empty as she had hoped.

"Hello Mrs. Izayoi... I hope you don't mind..."

"They're beautiful, are they for Aki?" she asked patiently, while a worry wormed into her at the embarrassed shake of the head she got for an answer.

"No, um, they were sent to Fubuki. But he..."

"Witch? What's going on?" Aki asked as she stepped into the room. She had sensed Witchs' return, but it was strange that Witch didn't just materialized in her room. Now...

"Its bad Aki... Fubuki asked me to bring the flowers to his place. The girls in the school are sending these to him and... well at first I didn't understand why he didn't want them in the hospital with him..." Her lips thinned out into a line as she floated herself off to form a triangle between herself, and both human women. "They started removing the bandages today.. Junko's arm is a mess of scars that look patterned like feathers, which because of Cyber Harpy makes sense."

Aki's lips trembled at how it was worded and instantly her mind went to the most vulnerable of the group. "Momoe... Witch how bad is Momoe?"

"There is something wrong with that fire. Its still burning them, the whole side of her head... her hair is burned off, her skin is marked like feathers from Sky Scout. I think she's blind in that eye and its 'not natural'. Her flesh is peeling off... We were never given the type of life where our elements are so distorted as to do 'that'. It might as well be acid or..." Witch floundered as Aki looked down to the flowers.

"I guess he didn't want to risk Momoe seeing them. She just wanted to be a housewife, she.." She shook her head, "ok, first things first. Witch show me to one of the portals to the Duel Spirit world. I want to talk to Ancient Fairy."

"Ancient Fairy?" Witch squeaked a bit in surprise, "you don't want to go to the hospital?"

"No, I want to beat Yubel and the real Yusuke into the ground for what they did!" Aki answered her hands clenching. "But first I need to get an assessment from Ancient Fairy. Going through Ruka is unacceptable for this or Rua more than they have been. So I would rather go directly, then from there," her voice cracked slightly, "then the hospital."

"Well, I'll take the flowers vase by vase to Fubukis' place when I get the chance. I just couldn't dump them all there without alarming his parents. I hope you can understand... He just didn't want to crush Momoe's feelings." Witch explained to Mrs. Izayoi hurriedly and was answered with a patient nod.

"No, its fine I'll have the servants keep them someplace cool to help them out. Thank you for letting me know."

Asuka didn't know how she found her way back to the room she shared with her brother. Walk out, turn right, walk forward, turn left, her brain said it was too complicated to understand and do. But her body did it automatically. Entrusted by Fubuki to make it back on her own, as Ryo needed help from both Fubuki and Kazu to get back to their room.

She looked down at herself as shame and guilt burned its scars that she could feel but not see. No burns melted her skin, or twisted her body... Her cheeks were felt scalded by the tears that rolled down her face while fury, guilt and grief stormed through her mind. Opening her eyes made her stare directly at the curtain that Fubuki had closed off, in case. The numerous flowers that had been sent to him suddenly ignited a greater fury in her. Recalling all the beautiful blooms from all those stupid girls who sent them as 'get wells' to Fubuki.

Where were the boys? Why did the guys send nothing to Momoe or Junko? Asuka forced any flowers sent to her to go directly home. Her mom had brought her the cards, with their 'get well soons' and the awareness that it was probably for the best to send it to the apartment. Why were the girls so stupid to not think about how this would look to Momoe?

Jun thought about it.

Asuka marched over to her brothers' bed, each step stinging her ankle from the pounding steps as she went to grab those stupid flowers. Sure Fubuki was having their mom take them home, but Asuka could make 'that' go a great deal faster. She ripped the curtain to the side, prepared to fully fling the whole bush of plants into the trash.

With only a blank table and window to greet her startled eyes, and only a distant half forgotten realization left. Witch had come to help move the flowers depriving Asuka of a target for her pent up emotions. She released the curtain and let it swing back into place, rippling slightly cutting her off from...

There was nothing left to lash out at and in defeat Asuka went back to her own bed. Crawling in she pulled her legs up to her chest and began to sob. 'Yugi! Please Yugi please help...' she thought helplessly to the universe unable to think of anyone 'greater' to think of. Any other 'god' was not going to answer, history had shown that. But Yugi... Aki and the others said he answered...

"In this case its going to be a god'des'," a flat, unamused voice answered and while she spoke in Japanese... it was accented heavily.

Asuka's head snapped up and her eyes instantly focused on a stranger in her room. The hair was distinctly Yugi's... even the eye color... But this was a woman with the round eyes of a westerner. She wore a lot of the same black leather that the Yugi she knew was known for. But instead of the black leather vest, it was a black laced up corset. She had razors hanging down from her ears, and there were sharp spikes on the wrist bands and collar she wore.

Silence stretched out between them until some stray awareness struck Asuka. Fubuki should have been back by now, there were no calls over the intercom for doctors or nurses... the world was... achingly silent suddenly.

"I... I'm sorry..."

"No you're not. You wanted to talk to one of the Yugi's that tend to visit this timeline, but in the same way you can have multiple numbers to the same office. You can have multiple people pick up that phone and in this case I'm the one who is."

Asuka couldn't peel her tongue off the roof of her mouth in shock as she sat there. This woman was as abrasive and rude as she had heard of other countries. But there was this unimpressed... fatigue? The woman looked just done with everything in a way that Asuka suddenly felt like she had done something bad. "I... I'm sorry..." Asuka repeated and watched the woman sigh and shake her head.

"What do you 'want', I know what's in your head and the list of things you want. But I'm allowing you the chance to make your choice on what you ask. I will say that you prayed to the wrong deity but its not like my idiot cousin is known for his healing abilities. Its 'him' you need regarding your friends, not me. But well, the one closest to you to hear ignores any call that isn't from his priests or his little brother so..." the woman shrugged only for this sardonic smirk to cross her face. "Apologies are unnecessary, I just don't like being treated like a genie in a bottle."

Asuka's fingers gripped the blanket more tightly, using it to cushion the pressure she would have inflicted on the palms of her hands. "I... I was hoping you could heal my friends... but that's your cousin? You can't do it..."

"I can, but its the punishment that my cousin gets for causing all this trouble to start with."
