Broken Miracles

Chapter 2

As Daisuke walks through the school gates he sees Sora and Matt in what he can see as a heated argument. Daisuke stood still there observing for a few minutes before seeing Sora speed walk away in tears. Matt sighing and walking away from the area that he and Sora were in. Daisuke didn't know what happened but he knew that he would eventually find out, this was high school after all.

As the day continued true to his thoughts, word of Sora and Matt's argument was the talk of the school. Rumor was that Matt had broken up with Sora. Daisuke has a bit of a clue on why Matt and Sora. Daisuke knows that Matt and Sora were both looking into colleges that were out of Japan. So the break up was logical but that didn't make it any less painful, but what surprised Daisuke was that they decided to break up with 4 months still left until they graduate. Daisuke didn't think much of it.

As the school day came to an end the rumors were now the talk of the school. Daisuke was flooded with questions by other students asking if he knew anything about the break up, Daisuke said nothing and walked past them. Daisuke looked outside through the window to see Matt surrounded by fangirls. Daisuke shook his head and sighed. Daisuke continued down the halls. He stopped when he spotted Sora surrounded by students wanting to know about the rumors. Daisuke wanted to leave her there.

Daisuke continued to walk but no matter how much they hurt him when they abandoned him. He couldn't abandon them. Daisuke pushed through the student and grabbed Sora's hand and pulled her away from the crowd of students. Sora was startled and confused until she saw it was Daisuke who was leading her away from the crazy drama loving students.

Daisuke took Sora to the only place he knew no one would find them. Daisuke took her to the school music studio. Daisuke took her down to the school music studio. When he got both of them into the room he locked the door to make sure to keep any unwanted guest out. Daisuke turns to see Sora bent a bit over trying to catch her breath. Daisuke goes to the fridge and gets her water. He offers her the bottle, which she happily agrees to.

Sora drinks the water and then sees Daisuke take out some note books and a laptop. Daisuke takes a seat and starts to write down some lyrics. He continued for a good hour or so with him pausing from time to time to think of lyrics. Daisuke got up and stretched and looked down to notice Sora was still there. Daisuke just blinked and waved at Sora. Sora just smiled and waved back. Sora asked Daisuke what he was working on. Daisuke just told her some personal stuff.

Sora frowned a bit at that, and gave him the sad puppy eyes. Daisuke knows that Sora, Mimi, Kari, and Yolei all know that he was a sucker for those pleading puppy eyes. Daisuke just signed cause he knew he had lost. Daisuke asked Sora for her phone, she handed it over and Daisuke opened her Youtube and put on his song. Sora took her phone back and listened to the song. Sora listened to it carefully, while following the lyrics. Sora looked up and looked around for Daisuke to see him, on the laptop by the recording board.

Sora was in deep thought. She tapped Daisuke's shoulder, Daisuke paused whatever he was listening to and took off his headphones. He turned around and asked Sora what was up. Sora asked who and what this song was about. Daisuke with the straightest face Sora has ever seen told her it was about Tai and his failure to find his team and him.

Sora asked what he was talking about. Daisuke explains himself how he was awake while on life support. How he counted endlessly hoping that one day Tai and the others would save them. Daisuke explains how days turn into weeks and weeks into months. Sora was left speechless, she hadn't really thought about it, but Daisuke was right, they took way too long to save them.

Sora looked up, with tears in her eyes. Sora choked on her words not being able to form an apology choking on her own words. Daisuke stopped her and said he's not mad at them anymore, but he was more or less done with them, especially Tai, since he has asked him multiple times why it took so long to rescue them. All Tai told him was that the important thing was that they were safe. Which he agrees with but that wasn't the point. Daisuke stopped asking him since he knew he'd never get an answer from him.

Sora then asked when or why he started to write songs and sing. Daisuke told Sora that his therapist told him that he needed a safe way to express his feelings, and that he gave him a note book that later became his lyric book. From there he found the studio and started to mess around with the equipment, instruments and singing a bit until he got the hang of things.

Sora with a shocked face asked Daisuke " You're seeing a therapist?". Daisuke nodded, saying that the trauma of everything they've been through and everything he's been through does leave damage. Sora was just surprised that Daisuke, the carefree member of the DD, was going to therapy. Sora looked down. Daisuke just gave her that famous Daisuke smile and told her chin up. Sora can only nod and tell him okay.

Daisuke was about to go back to his laptop, until Sora asked Daisuke if she can listen to what he was listening to. Daisuke took a few moments to think about it, and finally nodded and told her sure. Daisuke unplugged his headphones and played the track. Sora listened and it was a bit weird to her. Just listening to the instruments side of a song with no lyrics. Sora asked Daisuke if he knew what words were gonna go with this track. Daisuke nodded and said he had an idea of it. Sora nodded and continued to listen to the track.

Daisuke listen to the track while mumbling. Sora listens to the track and to Daisuke mumbling. When the track was over Daisuke replayed it again and started to do the same again. Daisuke started to do some things with the recording board. Changing things up, Daisuke also had another note book with him. Writing notes while listening to the track, writing about parts he needs to redo and or fix it up.

Daisuke continued this for another hour or so, while Sora just watched on the sidelines, just impressed at the patience and passion Daisuke was showing for his work. It was now 5pm and Sora was getting kinda hungry. Daisuke stopped his work and looked at his phone. Seeing that it's been a few hours since their school lunch it was time for them to go get some food. Daisuke would usually get so caught up in his work that he wouldn't eat until he got home but this time he couldn't do that since Sora was there with him.

Daisuke asked Sora if she wanted to get some food. Sora nodded happily thinking about only food at this point. Daisuke put his things away and put them in a safe spot in the studio. Sora asked why Daisuke wasn't taking his things with him. Daisuke just said he was gonna get food, eat, and then come back. Sora asked Daisuke how long he usually stays in the room. Daiske told her he usually leaves around 11 after putting everything away.

Sora was amazed and worried at the same time. Daisuke was at the door already when he asked Sora if she was coming along. She nodded and quickly grabbed her stuff and caught up to Daisuke. Sora and him walk out of the school together. They went to the fast food restaurant and placed their order. Daisuke told Sora she can go sit down and that when the food is ready he'll take it to the table. Sora nodded and told him okay and thank you.

Daisuke got the food when his number was called. He goes and gets their food. Daisuke and Sora eat while making small talk about Daisuke music. Sora enjoyed the company and small talk. Sora enjoyed that the small talk was about normal things and nothing about the digital world like it usually was when she talked to Tai, Matt and Izzy.

Daisuke and Sora finished their food. Daisuke went to throw it away and then waited on Sora to get her things and they left together. Daisuke and Sora walked in a comfy silence back to the school. There Daisuke told Sora that he would see her tomorrow at school and walked back towards the school. Sora looked at the road to her home and back to Daisuke. She didn't really wanna go home at this time and spending time with Daisuke today has been fun and interesting. Sora turns and yells at Daisuke to wait up. That she was gonna stay with him a little longer.

Daisuke turns around to see Sora with a smile and runs to him. Once she caught up they walked together back into the school into the studio room. Sora sat next to paying close attention to what he was doing. Sora was really interested in Daisuke mixing, and fixing some of his tracks. Daisuke took off his headphones. Seeing that the time was now 7pm. Daisuke goes into the instrument side of the recording studio and gets some of the instruments ready. Sora was curious about what Daisuke was gonna do.

Daisuke turns on his phone and connects to his laptop via bluetooth. Sora sees this, looks at the laptop and sees that Daisuke was playing one of his tracks then looks up to Daisuke playing the instrument. Sora leans in and accidentally presses a button that lets Sora hear Daisuke playing. It shocked Sora how good Daisuke really was. When Daisuke was done he stopped the recording and then played it back.

Daisuke redid the take more than once. Sora looked at the time seeing that it was now 11pm and that it was still a school night. Sora looks at Daisuke and he looks very frustrated, Sora didn't get why every take he did sounded great. Sora saw that Daisuke was gonna do another take but Sora, thanking Google Search, pressed a button that let her talk to Daisuke and told him to hold on.

Daisuke did so and Sora explained that it was getting late and that it was still a school night so that they needed to go home. Daisuke told Sora that she can go home, that he was gonna stay a bit longer. Sora gave Daisuke a big no, and when Daisuke looks up to protest he can see a very tired Sora glaring at him. Daisuke gulped nervously and was very scared. Only nodded agreeing to leave it for tomorrow after school. Sora smiled and nodded saying good.

Daisuke got out of the recording area and put the instruments away. He packed his things and looked over to Sora who was waiting for him. They left the room and walked out of the school. Sora and Daisuke then walked together until they reached the crosswalk where they went their separate ways. Sora told Daisuke to have a nice night and when he went home to get some rest. Daisuke looked at Sora and said " Ya no i'm walking you home it's 11 20 at night. I'm not letting you walk home alone this late." Sora was about to protest but one quick look at Daisuke's face told her that it was no use trying to argue.

Sora smiled and thanked Daisuke. The two continued to Sora home. It was a 15 minute walk in a comfy silence. Once they reached her home, Sora once again thanked Daisuke for walking her home. Daisuke waved her off saying it was no big deal. Sora smiled and again thanked him for today. She even joked that it was a fun first little date. This got Daisuke's eyes to go wide and his face to go red with a blush. Sora giggled at this and then leaned forward and gave him a small peek on the cheek. Sora tells Daisuke goodnight one last time before going inside her home.

Daisuke just stood there asking himself what just happened. Daisuke stood there for 3 more minutes before walking home in silence and shock at what just happened. While inside Sora home, can be seen in her room screaming into a pillow chewing herself out for doing that. She just hoped Daisuke didn't hate her or think any less of her for doing that. She was a blushing red tomato who was holding on to her pillow.
