Chapter 4: The 'temporary' Navigator

Last Time

"Before we leave do you have a Baby Den-Den Mushi with you? I would like to make a call," Luffy asked.

"Yes but please be quick," Ripper said before handing Luffy a Baby Den-Den Mushi. Luffy quickly dailed his grandfather's personal number. "Hello this is Vice-Admiral Garp who is this?" the Gruff voice of Garp asked from the other side. "Hey Gramps it's luffy I want you to come pick up a boy who will be my replacement and a Corrupt Marine Captain here in Shells town the Boy's name is Coby, I know he'll be a great marine one day," Luffy said making the Den-Den Mushi frown at his words showing Garp's anger at him.

"Fine but know this when I'm done training him He'll be kicking your ass all the way through the Grand Line you Bloody brat," Garp said in anger, "I'm looking forward it Gramps, He'll be ,my Garp to His and I'll be his Roger, I love you gramps and this is goodbye," Luffy said before hanging up. "Okay we'll leave now, come Zoro we've got a Clown to Beat," Luffy said to Zoro confusing him again.

When they got to the docks they took one of the small Marine Boats when they where a ways away from Shells Town Zoroo spoke, "So this is what amounts to a Pirate Crew huh?" he asked. "Ofcoarse not your just my first mate now I need to concintrate to get to our next destination as quick as possible so we can talk again when i take a break," Luffy said before he used observation haki to vind Nami and sail towards her. to

Chapter Start

A Short Ways from Oranje Town

Zoro was busy taking a nap while Luffy was sailing towards where he could sense Nami. When he noticed that she had been caught by the Buggy Pirates who had been chasing her the last time he lived through this. He woke Zoro up to tell him something. "Zoro you better grab onto something I'm going to use my flames to quicken the traveling time and if you aren't holding onto somethimg your going to fall off," Luffy warned. Luffy's warning caused Zoro to grab onto the sides of the boat. Luffy made a large blast of flames come out of his hands blasting them to Orange Town is a mere few seconds.

"Zoro we have to hurry follow me," Luffy said in the most serious voice he could muster, before he began to run in the direction of the Buggy encampment. When they got there he saw that Nami was tied up and crying as they pointed the buggy ball cannon in her direction and it was nearing the point of firing right at her. Thinking fast Luffy jumped infront of Nami bringing a shocked look to her face. Before she and Zoro could blink the cannon fired but to her and Zoro's shock luffy grabbed the explosive cannonball and tossed it straight at Buggy and his crew.

"Hey why are you so surprised Nami after all when we first met I had also caught a cannonball, SHISHISHISHI," Luffy said to her while laughing. "Zoro follow me we have to get her somewhere save," Luffy told Zoro causing him to nod and follow Luffy who had grabbed Nami and started to run in the direction of a certain pet store.

When they where outside of Shu-Dhu's store Luffy stopped and set Nami down. Then he started to untie her as well. "Why did you save me I said that I hated every Pirate and even Included you with all the others. So why did you save me, why?" Nami asked saying the last why in a mere wisper. "Because I know that you're a good person so I will help you with anything you need help with, I'd even kick a fishman's ass for you if needed "After all your my nakama', and last time we met you said your the best Navigator around so will you be my Nakama and be our Navigator?" Luffy asked Nami with a smile on his face.

"Well I guess I wouldn't mind being in a partnership untill my goals are met," Nami said but she didn't know why but she felt like she would become more than just a partner to his crew, then she quickly shook the feeling away. "So what are we going to do now," She asked Luffy. "Right now we are going to go and beat up Buggy and his crew and get his treasure too," Luffy told her making a look of fear go onto her face. "Are you insane there is no way we can face them Buggy has a bounty of 15 000 000 Beri on his head that is one of the highest bounties in the east blue far exceeding the usual 1 000 000 Beri bounties that are in the east blue," Nami said not really seeming to remember what Luffy was able to do.

"Do you want to know what the bounty would have to be to make me even see them as a proper pirate in my eyes Nami-chan?" Luffy asked her with a large grin on her face showing how little he cared about Buggy's bounty. "Yeah, what is the bounty you see as a true pirate's bounty?" Nami asked in a sarcastic voice. "Anything under 100 000 000 Beri is nothing more than a weakling and no one in the east blue currently has that bounty but some from the East Blue that have braved Paridise have even higher bounties than that and do you know who they are and what their bounties are, hhmmm?" Luffy asked in an amused way when he saw the shocked looks on both Nami and Zoro's faces. "No," Nami said in a shocked and scared voice at the thought of such monsters having come from the East Blue that they have Bounties higher than 100 000 000 Beries.

"The first one is my brother figure Portgas D. Ace he has a bountie of 500 000 000 Beri and he is also the Second devision commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, the Second Portgas D. Shanks also known as Red Haired Shanks he has a bountie of 4 500 000 000 Beri and he is one of the Yokou after him is Yassop he has a bountie of 1 000 000 000 Beri and he is Shanks' Sharp Shooter and then their is Lucky Roo he also has a bounty of 1 000 000 000 Beri and he is the Helmsman of Shanks crew and then there is Shanks' First mate Benn Beckem he has a bounty of 2 500 000 000 Beri, so some one with such a low bounty as Buggy will never make me fear them espesially since according to my Gramps who is a Marine Vice-Admiral I have a aura of some one that if they are a Pirate they would atleast have a bounty in th Billions," Luffy said like it is no big deal making Zoro's eyes pop out and Nami look like she was a bout to die of a heart attack.

"Though could you answer a question for me Nami?" Luffy asked her. "Y-y-ye-yes, L-l-l-luf-luff-luffy," She sheavily stuttered her reply from the fear she felt at the information about what a Marine Vice-Admiral had said about his strength which would mean that he was even stronger than that monster Arlong.

"Just know if you don't feel like answering this question then you can just say so after all I would never force my Nakama to do something they don't want to unless it could save their lives. Why do you hate pirates so much?" Luffy asked with a blank look on his face already knowing the answer.

"In that case I choose not to answer," Nami said but you could see she had tensed up when Luffy sighed at her answer in fear he would hurt her to get the answer. "Okay, I understand but know this if you need any help with anything just ask me and I'll do my best to help you," He said slightly disheartened at the fact that she didn't tell him.

They suddenloy started to hear the dog beggin to bark at something behind them and saw a man in what looked like a bear costume riding a Lion that was looking at the pet store in hunger. "Now Richie if you want to get something from the pet store then we will first have to take care of these pests who have caused trouble for the Buggy Pirates," Mouji said with an arragant tone to his voice.

Luffy not wanting to bother with them he sent a consintrated blast of conquerer's haki at the two of them knocking them out in an instant. Luffy then walked up to them and started dragging them in the direction of the Buggy Pirate's base. "Well come on unless your to scared Zoro. But Nami just so you know if you don't come with then I'm not going to devide any of the money towards you, but if you do then 80% will be yours," Luffy said to her knowing that this will convince her to come and knew it worked when her eyes turned into Beri symbols.

Buggy's Base

"What's taking Mouji so long to take care of those children?" Buggy asked Cobaji in annoyance at the seemingly incompatance of his first mate. "Knowing him he already finished it and just whent to go and get his Richie food that bloody Lion is always hungry," Cobaji said showing that he didn't like how much Richie needed to eat. They heard someone yelling something from down bellow and suddenly saw two figures flying towards them ane very large animal and one avarege Human being.

When the figures crashed into the wall next to them they saw the knocked out forms of their first mate Mouji and his pet Lion Richie. "What the hell is going on?!" Buggy yelled in surprise. "Hey Big Nose come out and fight us like a man!" The voice from before yelled from bellow their base. Buggy and Cobaji peered down to see who was making all the comotion. They saw that straw hat wearing boy who had saved the girl they where going to kill as well as a green haired swordsman and the girl who was obviously scared to death of even being there.

"Who do you think your calling Big Nose you damn Straw Hat wearing bastard!" Buggy yelled in anger at the insult that was yelled at him. "Well the only Big Nosed person that I can see here is you. You know from the stories that I had heard from Shanks I would have expectged that you someone who had been on the ship of Gol D. Roger himself would be a big name pirate from the Grand-Line with atleast a 500 000 000 Beri bounty on your head but rather your not even worthy of being called a pirate with your measly 15 000 000 Beri bounty and the fact that you have to make yourself look strong by attacking the weak people of the East Blue," Luffy said in a disappointed voice.

"Don't mention that if the Marines where to find out they would execute me on the spot you damn brat!" Buggy yelled in fear while his crew looked surprised that their Captain was once a member of the Roger Pirates. "So not only are you weak your also Coward. I mean both you and Shanks where equally strong when the two of you where cabin boys for Roger. But now you are a weak 15 000 000 beri Pirate drop out and Shanks is not only one of the Yonkou but also he has a 4 500 000 000 Beri bounty on his head. This goes to show you where never cut out to be a Pirate with his own crew. I mean even the weak members of Shanks' crew would be able to beat you and your entire crew with ease. To sum it all up your both a discrase and a disapointment of a Pirate," Luffy said he then turned to Zoro and as soon as he did Buggy held three nives in each and between his fingers and shot his hand at the 'unsuspecting' Luffy usinf his Bara Bara no Mi. Luffy made it look like he didn't notice it and continued to give orders to Zoro.

"LUFFY WATCH OU!" Nami yelled at Luffy when she saw the 'dismembered hand head towards Luffy looked at her still ignoring the hands. When the blades touched his skin they broke in half because of the fact that he had trained his body to react to danger appropriately depending onj the danger levels threat and this had only needed him to use Tekkai one of the two defensive tecniwues of the six powers. Well actually it hadn't been needed but he decided to use that instead of his devil fruits ability to go intangable because if he had it would have possibly hit Nami instead. Atleast in the very off chance that they didn't melt first.

"Attacking some one from behind is the cowards way out. Zoro you take on the Swordsman I'll take care of Buggy," Luffy told Zoro who nodded in under standing. "What about the rest of them?" Nami asked hoping he wouldn't tell her she would face them. "Well you don't have to worry about that they are still knocked out from that cannonball that I had tossed back at them. You just worry about getting the money remember put 20% into a seperate bag that is going to be mine, other than that the rest is yours," Luffy said and wispered her orders ant the end.

Buggy and Cobaji where still stiff from seeing the blades brake from just hitting Luffy's skin 'alone'. "What the hell are you you fucking bastard!" Buggy yelled at Luffy in fear. "Nobody that you would know agfter all I only just started my career as Pirate," Luffy said. "But my first mate here you aught to know his name is Roronoa Zoro, and he will be fighting your swordsman there," Luffy said to Buggy as soon as he did both Buggy and Cobaji showed recognitian at Zoro's name.

"Heh, Killing hi will bring my reputation to an even higher level, Don't worry Captain Buggy I'll beat him easily after all he will be no match for my style of swordsmanship," Cobaji said in an aregant voice before he whent on to his unicicle and sped tawords Zoro who now had all three of his swords in is and and mouth.

"Arobatics ard death in the hot springs attack," Cobaji said when he got near Zoro skidding as to knock up a dust cloud as to blind his enemy. Zoro quickly closed his eyes when some of the dust got into them. He barly dodged Cobaji's sword having sensed it though he didn't know how he did so. He used this sensing power to use Oni Giri on Cobaji who didn't have time to dodge it havoinf not expected him to attack with his eyes closed from the dust in them. Cabaji passed out from the pain of having his chest lacerated.

"Looks like my swordsman was better huh Big Nose?" Luffy stated to Buggy although it sounded like a question. Luffy was slightly surprised by the fact that Zoro had slightlu used Observation haki. Buggy how ever had his jaw so low that it probably whent all the way to the other side of the globe. "How the hell did he attack Cobaji with his eyes closed like that?!" Buggy screamed in shock, his shocked question however made Luffy shake his head it appeared that Buggy didn't even begin to consider that Zoro Might have accedentily used Observation Haki to find Cobaji.

"Now Big Nose I Guess its just you and me that have to fight now, huh?" Luffy asked retorically. "I'll fucking kill you and your friends for this humiliation, you damned straw hat wearing bastard!" Buggy yelled in rage rushing tawords Luffy. Luffy shook his head and used a move taught to him by his grandfather "Super Punch," Luffy anounced his attack expecting it to make Buggy dodge the attack as to slightly prolong the fight but buggy in his blinding trage didn't even think of using his devil fruit either and was hit in the head by the Superman Punch or as Luffy had said it Super Punch and got knockedout he probably also had a concusion.

Right as he had knockedout Buggy he Noticed Nami was missing so he streched his Observasion Haki out to find her and was happy to see that she was only getting the money. He called Zoro over to himself and took a glass of watter and used it to clean Zoro's eyes. "Thanks Luffy the dirt was getting annoying," Zoro thanked him for the help with his eyes. As soon as he was done Nami came out with two baggs one much larger than the other one. He took the smaller one and walked with the two of them tawords the pet store where he could sense someone other than Shu-Shu standing infront of it.

When they got there he walked up to the old man who he remembered as the Village Chief and stood infront of him. "Are you part of the Buggy Pirates, I'll only say this once leave Shu-Shu alone," the old man said trying to be coragous even though his knees where shaking from fear. "I'll admit me and the other man are Pirates but we aren't from the Buggy Pirates, I just wanted to tell you that we had tied up the Buggy Pirates and put the Captain into a Barrel of Sea water. You can use this money and the money you can get from thier heads to the damadge they had caused to you town, all I ask in return is that you give us any supplies you can spare for the journey we are going on to the Geko Islands and if possible a large fishing boat," Luffy told him after he handed him the money bag that he had in his hand.

"Of course even if you guys are Pirates you saved lour town and gave us money to fix our village so I'll see what I can do for you just wait at the harbour I'll try to be quick," The old man said to them Luffy nodded and led his group to the harbour to wait. The only had to wait for half an hour before the oldman arrived and a nother villager was seen comming from another side of the Island with a relativly large fishing boat. The Village Chief and a group of villagers where carrying some supplies that sould last them until they got to the Geko Islands.

"Thank you for getting us the supplies and the larger boat we'll get going now and good luck with fixing your villiage," Luffy thanked the old man. "Nami get your things and move them in to the boat it will be easier for you to navigate for us if your in the same boat as us," Luffy told Nami who set to work putting her things from the boat she stole from the buggy pirates into the larger fishing boat as soon as she was done they set off. Luffy smiled as they where now going to go and get their Sniper and he was even considering taking his little girlfriend with them if she had anything that she could do to help them.

"Hey Luffy I want to ask you something," Zoro told Luffy causing Luffy to look at him, "Sure ask away," Luffy told him. "I felt a strange feeling while I was blinded by that circus freak it was like KI could tell where he was but now I can't seem to do the same thing. Do you know what had happened?" Zoro asked. "Yes that was you subconcously using something that will be required in the Second Half of the Grandline it's called haki and the one you used is called Observation Haki. I tell you more when whe are in the grandline so that I don't have to explain it again to any new ones before the Grandline Itself," Luffy said making Zoro nod in understanding even if he wanted to know more now rather than later.
