Chapter 3: The Explanation
Both Emma and Regina entered the house silently, neither knowing what to do nor say, hence, the silence. Regina shot towards the kitchen, looking for glasses to escape the awkwardness. Leaving Emma to float around the foyer.
Emma herself was slightly happy Regina ditched her in the foyer because it gave her time to think of a way to explain she knew... well everything. Emma was more nervous than an elephant stuck in a room full of mice.
This... confession about going back in time (or maybe something else,) could go wrong in so many ways. Meanwhile, back in the kitchen, Regina was more poised in her outward appearance behind her mask, but inside she too, was a nervous wreck, because well... believe it or not she found the blonde attractive, especially with that tackey god awful leather jacket... not to mention those tight skinny jeans and-'Gods Regina Stop.' she cursed silently under her breath at the thought.
'Well, Graham is getting boring.' she thought as she was now leaving the kitchen, 2 crystal glasses in hand. She steadily walked past Emma, with the two briefly sharing eye contact. She walked straight to her side table against the wall to pour the apple cider, Giving Emma a perfect view of her ass.
'Wow did she always have a nice butt or?...' Emma's thoughts soon trailed off into places far from PG rating until eventually, the sound of ice landing into a glass slapped her out of it. "Get a grip Swan, she's right there!"
Emma unintentionally said out loud before she could stop herself. "Pardon me?" Regina questioned while partly looking at Emma who turned white as a ghost. "Huh?" Emma's ears were turning red as she got caught, and Regina's intent gaze didn't help.
But for some reason, Regina herself simply chuckled and turned back to their drinks.
Once Regina finished pouring the amber liquid into the glasses he handed one to Emma. "I'm sorry I'll have to apologize for Henry's behavior, seeing as he dragged you out of your life." She said while maintaining eye contact as she handed the glass over. "No need, I think I needed a bit of a break, even if that was a weird one," Emma said chucking trying hard to cover up her blush and lightning up the mood.
"Hmm... I suppose so. But tell me, Miss Swan, how exactly did Henry find you?" She asked curiously as she led Emma towards her study. "Well... I'm not sure if you know, but I'm... welll, I'm Henry's Birthmother."
Emma was still surprised at how quickly Regina could mask her emotions. Since it changed from shock to disdain and then to an unreadable expression, That Emma knew all too well. "Look... I'm not here to take Henry away from you if anything I'm trying to help you get closer to him."
Regina was quickly snapped out of her daze when she heard this. "What? " She said, hardly above a whisper. "Why? We hardly know each other!" "Well... Then maybe I'll... I-I'll stay then. To get to know you and Henry? And again, I'm not trying to take him away, I just want to get to know him."
Emma's tone sounded almost desperate.
Regina just stared point blank until Emma's sentence set in. "Well..." at first Regina was hesitant and irritated but eventually agreed. And all Emma could think of was how cute she looked when she was in deep concentration or mad as hell. 'Shut up, Swan!' Emma could slap herself right now, she knew Regina would never be interested so why bother? ...Maybe she spent too much time with Snow because deep down she still felt a smidge of hope.
Regina Then cleared her throat. "Well then... I suggest you go get a room at the Bed and Breakfast it's right next to Grannies, you can't miss it." She directed in what seemed like... no way...Regina was smiling?!.
And not one of the faked, forced, evil, or sarcastic ones but a real smile. It was breathtaking, And Emma was mesmerized by it.
'Wait, wait, wait. Did she just have to say she wasn't here to take away Henry? Because last time she got arrested, framed, humiliated, hell, she nearly got poisoned. And all because Regina saw her as a threat?' Damn, I should've thought of this last time she thought head budding herself.
Soon after realizing she starring again and that it got awkward, she decided to grow a tongue and say goodbye.
"Well... thanks but I better get going." She said getting up while setting her glass down. Regina drew in a silent breath after the sudden movement. She didn't have a clue as to why she suggested Emma stay, but at least she'd get brownie points from Henry for not chasing her away.
"Of course," Regina replied and got up herself, walking to the front door with Emma in tow.
The minute Emma exited the mansion Regina closed the door hastily, and when the door has closed both women stood still and let go of a breath none of them knew they held to take in what had just happened. Their interaction, the chemistry just everything...
