Christopher Diaz was smart for his age. Everyone who loved him always told him so; his dad, his Bucky, Carla, his bisabuela, his tia abuela, his dad's team at the firehouse. He got good grades at school; he knew when someone was sad even when they tried to act like they weren't - looking at you dad and Bucky! And though he was smart; nobody thought a nine-year old little boy could tell the difference between the types of love people had for each other.

He knew the love Captain Nash and Sergeant Grant had for each other was different then the love they shared for May, Harry and Buck - partner love was different then love for your children. He knew the love between Buck and Aunt Maddie was different then the love between Uncle Chimney and Aunt Hen - sibling love was different then love for your friends. He knew the love he had for his dad (and his mom though she was now gone) was different then the love he had for his hamster - parent love was different then love for your pets.

So it stood to reason; Christopher could tell the type of love he saw in his dad's eyes when the man looked at Buck was the same love he once saw reflected in his dad's eyes when he had looked at his mom once upon a time; and that that love was reflected right back from Buck.

He also knew that both his dad and his Bucky were idiots that couldn't see what was right in front of them; so Christopher was making it his mission to show his dad and Buck what everyone else could see between them; with the help from his bisabuela, Carla, and the 118.

He called it: The Make Dad and Buck See Their Love for Each Other Squad.

It was a long name but it was exactly what Christopher wanted to do. He wanted his dad and Buck to finally see the love they had for each other; and finally be happy. He knew everyone else did as well; he heard the comments when Aunt Hen and Aunt Karen talked over tea when he had sleepovers with Denny; he heard the teasing from Uncle Chimney when he visited the firehouse with Carla; he saw the looks his bisabuela gave his dad when he talked about Buck. He knew it all.

That was how on one Saturday afternoon Christopher had asked Carla to help him get his dad and Bucky together. She was delighted to help; and it turned out to be a family dinner minus the two men - he wasn't sure what Carla had told his dad and Buck but they had gone out to a bar together while Carla had taken him to Captain Nash and Sergeant Grant's house, along with his bisabuela and tia abuela.

Everyone had turned to Christopher to make the plans; it was his idea after all. He already had his plans set; he just needed their help to execute them.

His bisabuela helped him find poems that worked to show his dad's love for Buck; Uncle Chimney was tasked with making sure they made it inside Buck's locker each morning without being caught.

Carla helped him find music lyrics that worked to show Bucky's love for his dad; Aunt Hen was tasked with making sure they made it inside his dad's locker each morning without being caught.

Aunt Maddie helped pick out Buck's favorite flowers and made an excuse for his dad to give them to Buck daily; he loved seeing the smile and blush from Buck as his dad had handed them over each day (mainly via photos taken by whoever was near at the time) - even if his dad had spoiled it and said they were actually from Christopher and not him.

His tia abuela helped pick out his dad's favorite secret romance movies for the weekly Buckley-Diaz movie night - and he very convincingly got his dad and Buck to agree to a week long Buckley-Diaz movie marathon every night after he aced a math test; He loved seeing the teasing laughter as Buck watched his dad blush with each new movie.

He convinced Buck that his dad was sad and that making his favorite dinner - pozole - would cheer him up; he learned from his bisabuela that Buck had asked her to teach him how to make the dish exactly how his dad liked it - he was greeted by a picture from Captain Nash via Carla of his dad hugging the tupperware of the pozole to his chest as he smiled brightly at Buck.

He convinced his dad that Buck was sad and that making his favorite desert - red velvet cheesecake cupcakes - would cheer him up; he also made sure that his bisabuela did the baking so his dad didn't burn down the house or accidentally poison Buck - he was greeted by a picture from Aunt Hen via Carla of Buck taking a bite of the cupcake straight out of his dad's hand!

And then it was time for his final plan at the end of the long week. Captain Nash and Sergeant Grant were tasked with asking his dad and Buck to join them for dinner at a fancy restaurant; and then cancel after his dad and Buck were already there - Christopher had help from Captain Nash and Sergeant Grant that the meal was already paid for and ready for his dad and Buck to enjoy alone.

The next day was family dinner at the Grant-Nash household.

His dad and Buck confronted them all... and then had thanked them for helping them come to their senses and finally be together like they really wanted too for ages. The smile never left Christopher's face throughout the dinner or in the car ride home or even as his dad and his Bucky tucked him into bed. His plans had worked and even after only a day after his week of executed plans Christopher could already see the sadness was gone from both his dad and Buck's eyes as he watched them together.

His job was complete.
