Five - All Us

Jackie was seated next to Steven in the booth at the "kids table" for brunch. The adults were at the next table over, but engrossed in their own conversation.

Jackie wanted to tell everyone in sight that she and Steven were finally married. Instead, she only got the cold feeling of the chain that held her ring. Steven had given one to her before they'd come to brunch.

"Wait, wait, wait," Michael said. "Donna walked in on Jackie and Hyde? I thought you guys were splitsville!"

"We were. And then we got drunk," Steven said. "Stuff happened."

"Stuff like sex?" Fez asked.

Steven threw one of the mini muffins from Eric's plate at Fez. "Hey!" Eric said. "I was gonna eat that."

"I don't care," Steven said.

Eric stuck his tongue out at him.

"So, are you guys back together? Is my restraining order lifted?" Michael asked.

"Yes, we're back together," Jackie said. "As for your restraining order… No, it's not lifted yet. You're not going to ruin my first few days ma- back together with Steven."

Fez eyed her suspiciously. "What were you about to say?"

"We'll tell you some other time," Steven said. "Donna, man, what's the plan for the rest of the day?"

"After brunch, you have some free time. At four, we're all meeting in the lobby. You should be dressed for the wedding and ready to go. Then we're taking a limo to the church. After the wedding, Bob and Joanne will go to their honeymoon suite and we can do whatever we want," Donna said.

"Sounds good," Steven said. His hand crept over her leg, resting just above her knee.

Jackie adored the small gestures of affection he was giving her today. She'd gotten two forehead kisses this morning, a record. Hopefully, they got to spend some time alone together before the wedding. It was supposed to be their honeymoon, after all.

Hyde kissed Jackie, running his hands through her hair. They'd decided to spend the afternoon in after last night's craziness. Hyde and Donna had switched rooms so that he could share a room with his wife for the rest of the trip and Donna could be with Forman.

Hyde parted the kiss. "What?" Jackie asked.

"Just… Can't believe you're my wife," Hyde said.

"I believe it. I've wanted to call you my husband for months." Jackie smiled at him. "I love the sound of that. My husband."

"I kinda dig the sound of that." Hyde kissed her again. She ran her fingers through his hair. Her touch lingered, as did her kisses. He parted the kiss again.

"What now?"

"I love you. I don't remember if I said it to you last night," he said.

Jackie smiled softly. "I love you too. And I'm pretty sure you said you were in love with me last night. It's hazy, but I think I remember hearing that."

"Good. I'm gonna try to say it more often. I know you like hearing it."

"I do, but I also know you prefer to show it. Don't force yourself to say it just for me." Jackie kissed him again. "Now, can we enjoy our few hours of privacy? It's supposed to be our honeymoon."

"I know, but… There's a lot we need to talk about, don't you think? And poor communication is what got us to this whole situation, so…"

"Oh, I guess you're right." Jackie sat up, as did Hyde.

"How much do you remember from last night?" Hyde asked.

"You came over with beers and everyone had left. We started drinking, then playing truth or dare, then kissing… after that it gets hazy."

Hyde nodded. "Same. But I also remember suggesting we get married."

"Mhm. Did I tell you why I slept with Michael?"

"I don't think so."

Jackie took his hand in hers, running her thumb over his ring. They'd put the rings back on once they got back to their room. "I thought you were done with me forever. I figured it didn't matter if I slept with Michael and it would at least make me feel a little better for a few minutes. I'm sorry for losing faith in you."

"Hey, I gave you plenty of reasons to lose faith. What happened in Chicago isn't your fault, all right? I forced you there with my dumbassery and our relationship paid the price."

"How about we compromise and say it's both our faults? That's what marriage is all about, after all. Compromise."

"Still. I'm sorry for all my bullshit the past few months. I'm gonna try to be better."

Jackie smiled. "Lucky for you, we have the rest of our lives together." She raised his hand to her lips and kissed his ring finger.

He smiled. "That's not luck, that's all us, doll."

Jackie dropped his hand and leaned in to kiss him. He laid her down on the bed, running his hands over her hips.

It was about time they properly celebrated their marriage.

Hyde was waiting in the lobby with the guys, once again. Jackie had shooed him out of their room so she could get ready in private. Something about wanting her dress to be a surprise.

He was standing next to Red, who was complaining about being best man to Forman.

"I can't believe he chose me. I don't even like the guy," Red said. Hyde rolled his eyes internally. Bob and Red were friends, no matter how much Red denied it.

"I wish I could be a best man," Forman said. He shot Hyde a look. "I feel like I've lost the chance."

"Why?" Red asked. "Because Steven was a dumbass and screwed up the only relationship he's ever had? And you know he's the only one who would choose you as a best man, but now he'll probably stay single for the rest of his life."

Hyde gave him a thin smile. "Damn. You managed to burn us both."

Forman, on the other hand, grinned. "Oh, haven't you heard? Hyde and Jackie are back together, as of last night."

Red smiled a little at Hyde. "Good for you, son." He patted Hyde on the shoulder once. "There are the girls. I'll go tell Kitty." He walked off.

Hyde caught Forman before he could walk off. "I wouldn't say you've lost the chance to be a best man."

Forman raised an eyebrow. "What? You and Jackie already got-" he looked around for eavesdroppers quickly, "-married."

"Yeah, but come on. It's Jackie. You know she'll want an actual ceremony. Plus, your ma'll kill me if she finds out I got married without her being there. So consider this an unofficial invitation to be best man for that."

Forma grinned. "Sweet. Thanks."

"No problem. I'm gonna go find my wife." Hyde walked away. Jackie was standing near Donna, looking absolutely gorgeous.

She was wearing an emerald green dress that complimented her curves and skin tone. Her hair was down, perfectly curled. The thin chain that held her ring was around her neck, with the ring tucked into the top of her dress and hidden away.

He walked over to her and hooked his arm around her waist. "You're beautiful," he whispered to her. She grinned at him.

Donna rolled her eyes. "Where's Eric?"

Hyde pointed across the lobby. "Over there. He was bitching about not being my best man, but we worked it out."

"Oh, believe me, I know. All day he was whining about how 'he missed his best friend's wedding' and how 'he'll never get another chance to see it.' It was really annoying," Donna said. "See you guys in a minute."

Jackie looked up at Hyde once Donna was gone. "What do you mean you worked it out?"

"I told him he could be my best man at our real wedding," Hyde said.

"Our real wedding? Was the one last night fake?"

"No. But we were the only people there. I figured we should do an actual ceremony with your family and your white doves or whatever."

Jackie beamed. "You remembered my white doves! Aw, I love you." She kissed him quickly, a teasing kiss.

Kitty rushed over to them. "Oh, I am so happy for you!" She hugged Hyde tightly. She pulled away after a moment and pointed at him. "Don't screw it up again."

Jackie hugged his arm to her body. "I don't think he will, Mrs. Forman."

"I wouldn't be so sure," Red said, walking over. "Dumbasses always find a way."

A few loud claps prevented Hyde from responding. They all looked over at the source of the claps, Joanne. "We're heading over to the venue now, so follow us!"

Red offered his hand to Mrs. Forman, which she took happily. Jackie and Hyde followed them out of the hotel to the limo they were renting.

Hyde sat close to Jackie as they drove to the venue. Bob was already close to tears. Hyde was willing to bet he would be sobbing before the ceremony began.

They got out at the chapel. It seemed somewhat familiar with the big waffle-shaped sign that said 'Weddings And Waffles' in a curly red font. But Hyde had never been there before, so it must be some weird deja-vu thing.

Jackie leaned close to him and whispered, "Does this place seem kind of familiar?" When he nodded, she continued, "You don't think we came here last night, do you?"

"I hope not," Hyde whispered back.

But the evidence seemed against him. Why else would he and Jackie find this place familiar?

They entered the chapel, and the nerves in Hyde's stomach intensified. The sense of deja-vu had grown stronger, only this time it wasn't just a vague feeling of familiarity. He recognized that altar. He'd seen it that morning in his and Jackie's wedding photos.

"We are so fucked," he whispered to Jackie.

"Yeah, we are," she whispered back.
