As any who know me can tell, this story is not meant to be taken seriously in any capacity. I'm using this as a way to talk about stuff I've always been curious about in the RWBY universe. It may or may not evolve into an actual story though I wouldn't hold my breath on that account.
Disclaimer: I don't own RWBY or any photos that may be used for this story. I am; however, the assshole that created the shitty characters you will be seeing in this little exercise.
P.S. if you somehow end up offended despite me starting this note by saying this story isn't meant to be taken seriously, tragic. That's really all I can say to you guys; after all, it's your prerogative to feel however you want. Just know that I, the asshole writing this, sincerely do not care.
"So aura is suppose to be like our soul right?"
"Supposedly."
"And our semblances are powered by aura?"
"Right."
"So if our soul changes our semblance should change too yeah?"
"Well that begs the question; can a person truly change? Philosophers have had the whole nature vs nurture argument going on for god knows how long. Are we who we are from the day were born or do our environment and personal experiences shape our individuality? Neither are necessarily wrong in my opinion. Personally I've always believe that, excluding the introduction of intense trauma, people aren't capable of change. We simply learn to-"
"Coal, you're rambling."
"I am not rambling. I simply thought it would be best to make sure we were on the same page before attempting to answer such a loaded question."
"Right, right. If I wanted a speech I'd go ask our teachers this stuff. I just wanted to know what were the chances of me getting a more powerful semblance if my girl broke my heart."
"……You're a fucking dumbass."
Coulson Nicks, commonly referred to as Coal among his peers, released an annoyed sigh as he snapped his book closed.
He and Azure Wrecker, another student at Signal Academy, we're seated around one of the many tables within the school's library. Classes had ended sometime ago though they were sticking around to get some studying in. Well Coal was studying, Azure was slacking off the entire time as usual.
"What?" Azure raised an indignant eyebrow. "It's a perfectly valid question. That could be the intense trauma I need to become the top of the class."
"The end of a flimsy relationship like that doesn't exactly fall under intense trauma or any sort of trauma for that matter." Coal's retort came with a snort.
"Flimsy?!"
"How many times have you cheated-I mean- "allegedly" cheated on that girl? Ten times? Or is it already somewhere in the twenties?"
"Hey! It was only six times." Azure corrected him without so much as a blink of an eye. "Ten? Really? I don't appreciate these exaggerations. At that point you might as well abandon the relationship."
"Dude…you slept with her best friend. I don't understand how your relationship is still going in the first place."
"First of all, she slept with me." Coal gave Azure a deadpan stare. He honestly couldn't believe the words that came out of his friend's mouth sometimes. "Seriously! When you say it like that it makes it seem like I'm the one that came onto her. I mean I did but not like that. I'm not that disrespectful."
Coal shook his head, giving up on attempting to make Azure see exactly what was wrong with his words. Azure was a really good friend, he would never say otherwise, but the guy made for shit boyfriend material. Coal honestly didn't understand why his friend even bothered with steady relationships when he was going to be out and about doing whatever he pleased. The whole thing just seemed like more trouble than it was worth.
"Its not my fault I fell to temptation." Azure patted Coal on the shoulder as he spoke. "Once you go through whatever it is that snakes go through and see the true beauty of the women around us, you'll understand."
"Dude, that's racist." Coal shrugged off Azure's hand. "Faunus go through normal puberty just like humans."
"Really? That's wild man, I had no idea." Azure shifted into a thoughtful pose as they fell into silence which lasted all of ten seconds. "So what do you think? Will a heartbreak give me a new semblance?"
"If by some miracle it does, please kill yourself with it."
Whatever response Azure had for him was interrupted by one of their scrolls going off. The two exchanged glances before packing up and leaving the library, all the while carrying on their debate about semblances.
So that's that.
What do guys think? If a person goes through trauma that fundamentally changes who they are as a person, would their soul and abilities change to reflect though? Or do you think that the mind and soul are two very different things and nothing would happen? That's the question I wanted to pose with this little chapter.
For those who are wondering about the frequency at which these chapters will be released, I have no answer for you. All I can say is that the more my friends debate about RWBY the more likely it is I will write a chapter to reflect said conversation so I can get input from the community. Also the Wattpad community if I post this there.
