Chapter 2 of What happened on and after the raft. This Fanfiction is very Much Nat/Wanda mother daughter relationship as Nat helps Wanda heal from her time on the raft as they are on the run. I do not own any of the marvel characters. Trigger warning for mention of rape, eating disorder, self harm, violence. Sorry this chapter is kind of rushed I just wanted to get to where Nat Wanda were reunited. The next one will be longer and Wandas POV.
Clints POV:
After they took Wanda to god knows where there was nothing to do but wait. No one has said a word since. I paced back and forth thinking of different options in terms of escape but the only answer was to wait for Nat and Rodgers to come break them out. My mind drifted to Laura and the kids and if they were okay. I started to panic a little but I know deep down no matter how much of a dick Stark is he wouldn't go that far. Laura and him get along really well and Pepper and her have gotten pretty close. Not to mention I don't think I can handle having one more thing to worry about right now other than Getting Wanda out of here. I finally came to a stop and sat on the edge of my bed in my cell. I looked to my right into Wanda's cell. It was barren, there was no bed, no food, only a gallon of water in the corner but I don't know how they expected her to drink while in the straight jacket. I looked at the other guys, Sam was laying on his bed staring at the ceiling and Scott was pacing just as I had been a second ago. Like mine both of their food was untouched. "we should eat'' I said, a little surprised from the scratchiness of my voice. I cleared my throat and continued, "We need to keep our strength up, for when we get out of here."
"How can I eat when the kids got nothing over there? When they are doing who knows what to her right now?" Scott snapped.
"I get it. I do, but we need to keep our strength up for her to. Right now we are her only life line, the only thing to keep her grounded, and If she sees us struggling or weak she is going to lose hope. We cannot let that happen." I made a promise to her brother and I intend to keep it, I thought to myself. Plus what can I say, I love the kid like she's my own.
"The birdman's right" Sam spoke up before picking up his roll and taking a bite out of it. Scott soon followed Sam's lead. I picked up my roll slowly nibbling at the edges. It hurt me more than I ever thought to see her in pain. To see that greasy guard touch her. "FUCK!" I yelled punching the wall in my cell. I quickly regretted shaking my hand out. "Whoa there, you good" Sam said, I looked up making eye contact with him "I'm good, I ju-'' My voice cracked and I cleared my throat "she's only sixteen, she's done nothing to deserve this, and I swear to god when we get out of here I am hunting every single asshole who lays a hand on her down!" The other guys were quiet after my outburst, I looked down at my now bleeding knuckles but chose to ignore it as I bit into my roll.
"Count me in" Sam said, making my head snap, I nodded at him.
"Me too" Scott said "All I can imagine is my daughter, and god Wanda does not deserve this."
No one said anything else, but we had an understanding and I knew that both of them meant every word.
After I finished eating I sat on my bed staring at my feet for I don't even know long. It has been at least six hours since they took Wanda and I was starting to get really worried. What could they possibly need her for that long for. Finally I heard the clinking of a door as I saw the two guards from before drag a barely conscious wanda back into the hall. " What did you do to her!" I growled. Wanda immediately flinched at the raised toned and I decided not to waste my time on the guards. They will get what they deserve eventually. I scanned wanda looking for any obvious injuries but It was hard while she was in the straight jacket. I could see I nasty hand print shaped bruise on her check. I could feel my anger rising as I continued my assessment, She is hunched over at an uncomfortable angle so I am guessing maybe broken ribs. I could also see blood spots soaking through her arm. The most worrying thing to me was how pale and ghostly she looked. I had only seen her look this drained after Ultron. The guards opened her cell door and dropped her on the ground, not bothering to tighten the straight jacket back up. "Hey, she needs food and water." I called to the guards. The greasy haired guard looked at me, he had a psychotic twinkle in his eys as he spoke " the doc will be in soon to take care of that '' I watched as he kneeled down and stroked Wanda's hair. I could see her flinch away and then tense while he continued to stroke her hair. He put her mouth next to her ear, practically kissing it and said "Until next little witch" before standing up and both of the guards walked out, slamming the doors behind them. I wanted to kill him just because he called her little witch. No one else gets to call her that but Me, Steve, Sam, and Nat. I had to hold back a chuckle when I thought about what Nat will do to these guards once she hunts every single one of them down for laying a hand on her kid. I heard a whimper and my attention is immediately brought back to Wanda. " hey kiddo" I said " you're gonna get out of here just hold on" I wanted to ask her where she was hurt, and I wanted to tell her that those men would never touch her again but I couldn't do either of those things. For starters she would not even be able to answer me without getting shocked, and as long as we are in here I am totally powerless over what those men do. I sat down resting my head on the glass that let me see into Wanda's cell and watched her. I could see tears running down her cheek but other than that she did not move a muscle. That is how I spent the night, watching Wanda, refusing to fall asleep knowing that there was a chance that she could be gone when I woke up. I don't know if mercy is the right word, but Wanda's shock collar did not go off every hour as it had previously and before I knew it she was asleep, still curled up on the floor but at least she could get some rest.
I don't know when but i fell asleep but I woke up with my head still resting against the glass connected to Wanda's cell. I felt a surge of panic in me as Wanda was not in the same spot she had fallen asleep in the night before. I let out a breath of relief though when I looked down and saw that she was curled up on the other side of glass right next to me. Wanda jerked awake at the sound of clinking, My eyes shot to the door as three guards walked in holding a tray with food. "Breakfast boys" one of them said as they deposited them into our cell. "Give her mine" I spoke up, Wanda needed to eat and I don't know what reason they have for not feeding her but I refuse to sit her and watch her starve. "Sorry but no can do, the doc will be in soon though" the guard answered before leaving. "Who the hell is the doc?" Sam spoke up. I heard Wanda whimper at the mention of his name. No one answered because no one had an answer. I ate my food and ended up trying to pass the time by telling Wanda stories of me, Nat and Steve. I could see her smile every time I mentioned Nat's name so I tried to keep the conversation focused around her. After a few hours of this I was interrupted by the sound of people entering our hall again. The guards brought us lunch and I saw a man in a lab coat standing patiently waiting to be let into Wanda's cell. He was holding what looked like a medical bag and one of the Things that held IV fluid bags and rolled around. "Are you the doctor?" I asked.
"Indeed" he answered not looking at me, his eyes stayed trained on wands form. I looked down at her and saw that she was as close to the glass as she could physically be shaking in fear. Two of the guards walked over to where the doctor was, "step aside doc" one of them said. The doc did as he was told and made room for the two guards to enter into Wanda's cell first. They walked over to her like they were hunting a their prey. Like she is wild animal, but all I see is a tiny, scared, 16 year old. Who could possibly hurt her. Finally, each grabbed one of her arms and dragged her to the other side of the room. They forced her into a sitting position with her back against the concrete wall. She was now facing me, I could see her eyes avoiding mine but I refused to look away, I had to be strong for her. Finally her gaze rested on mine and she held that, not even looking as the doctor walked in. I could see him take a tube out from the corner of my eye and start to disinfect it. " I am going to need you to take a big deep breath in when I say so. I will be inserting this feeding tube into it so that you can get the nutrients that you need for your body to keep functioning. This will hurt, a lot." The doc finished what he was saying but I refused to break eye contact with Wanda. " Just look at me Kiddo you're gonna be okay just look at me." I kept repeating this throughout the whole process. I watched as the doctor shoved the tube into her nose and started to force it down her throat, Wanda had her eyes closed and started to gag as soon as he put it in. The doc kept pushing causing her to throw up on herself but the doc just kept going. Finally he was done and Wanda was crying. "Now I just need to put in the IV," He said. I kept eye contact with her even though her eyes were closed as he did this. He then hooked the IV and feed tube to bags that now hung on the cart thing. The Doc took a towel and cleaned Wandas now vomit covered jacket off before standing and leaving with the guards in tow.
The days all started to blur together, they would consist of the doctor coming to change out Wanda's feeding tube and IV, and every other day they would bring her actual food and force feed it to her. Every couple of they would take her for hours at a time and she would return beaten and weaker than before if possible. The guys and Idid all we could do which is just sit and watch. Three times a day they let us go to the bathroom and we got to shower once a day. They brought us breakfast, lunch and dinner but otherwise nothing changed. We were just waiting for Steve and Nat, that is all that we could do. Wait. Wanda had taken up residence next to the glass connected to my cell and I did the same, trying to be as close to her as possible. She even found a way to speak without getting shocked. It was usually right after she returned from wherever they would take her. She knew they would not shock her when she was that weak so she would take advantage and speak. She would not say much, usually just "I'm okay" or ask how we were but I loved hearing her voice. Her thick Slavokian accent gave me hope.
If I had to guess I would say we had been in prison for three months when things got even worse if possible. Wanda was struggling, she had been for a long time. One night the greasy hair guard came and dragged her out of her cell. They never took her at night and it was never just one guard so I new something was bad was going to happen. I protested saying that she needed her sleep and that they could do this in the morning but he just hissed at me to shut up. I know that they didn't go far because I could hear him grunting from right outside the door that led into our hall. Where the fuck are you Nat? I thought to myself as tears rolled down my face. I knew what was happening, that he was taking advantage of her and the was absolutely nothing that I could do about it. About an hour later he dragged an unconscious Wanda back into her cell. Or at least I thought she was unconscious until I looked at her face. Her eyes were open but it was like she was looking right through everything, she did not move towards her spot near me and she did not make a sound again. By morning I was starting to get really worried, She didn't sleep at all during the night, she was staring at the wall and I can see sweat on her face and she is shivering. " I think she's in shock" I said when the guards walked in, "she needs medical attention" They ignored me placing the food in our cells. I picked up my tray and slammed it on the ground "NOW!" I shouted "She needs medical attention NOW!" One of the guards took a step towards me ready to take me on but the other put an arm in front of him stopping him from moving any closer. He glanced at Wanda and then nodded. "we will send the Doc down". He turned and walked out.
"Hey breath man" Scott said from across the room. I took a deep breath trying to calm my nerves for Wanda.
"Where the fuck is Cap and Nat" I reiterated, this time outloud. No one answered because no one knew the answer.
Whether it was some fucked up joke that the big man upstairs was trying to play on us, or just a straight up miracle, within minutes of me asking where they were, Nat and Cap broke into the raft along with Bucky. We could hear the fighting outside of our hall. I sprung to my feet and tapped on the glass connecting my cell to Wanda's. "Hey kiddo, hey look at me, it's going to be okay. Nat and Cap are here." She did not move, but I just kept repeating "It's going to be okay" until the door to our hall was flung open and the three heroes ran in. I did not move, not wanting to take my eyes off Wanda. Bucky went and Unlocked Sam's and Scott's cell. Nat and I made eye contact before she ran up to Wanda's door. "Oh malysh it's okay now you're going to be okay." Nat said her voice laced with urgency as she struggled to unlock the door.
Nats POV:
As soon as we opened the door I immediately saw Clint, physically he looked fine. We made brief eye contact and he gave me a look and I knew that he did not care about himself at the moment, only Wanda. I whipped my head around looking for her. After a second I spotted her and ran to her cell door. She looked so small curled up on the hard concrete. I could only see her back right now but I need it wasn't good. "Oh malysh it's okay now you're going to be okay." I said as I pushed the key into the lock and flinging open the door. I started to run to her but I quickly stopped when Clint said "Nat be slow" I nodded in understanding and slowly walked around to the other side of her so that I could see her face and she could see me. My heart twisted at the sight. She is curled up on her side. Her arms wrapped around her torso in a way that did not look comfortable due to the straight jacket on her. She looked practically skin and bones. She had a feeding tube taped to the side of her face and her skin was deathly pale and littered with bruises. I kneeled down to her level trying to get her eyes to meet mine "Malysh, look at me" I said slowly reaching my hand out to stroke her hair. She flinched when I touched her but I was just happy I was able to get a response from her, even if it was one of fear. Her eyes shot up to my face and she leaned into my touch "Tasha" she whispered her voice hoarse and scratchy, like she hasn't talked in months. "I'm here Wands, I'm going to get you out of here now." I said. I took out my knife and cut the feeding tube disconnecting it from the bag. I figured that I could properly take it out when we were on the jet. Next I looked down and saw the collar. My blood boiled but I kept my cool, I have to. For Wanda. "Steve" I called, trying not to be too loud to scare Wanda. When Steve got a good look at Wanda I could see the horror on his face but he quickly masked it. I pointed to the collar and he nodded, bending down to Wanda's level. Her hand was clutching mine and I continued to stroke her hair while Steve talked to her and explained how he was going to break off the collar. As he moved his hand towards her neck she flinched hard and made a whimpering sound as she pushed herself towards me. "Sshh malysh it will be over soon." I continued to try to soothe her until Steve was done. With the collar in hand he walked out of the cell to give us our privacy. I knew that we did not have much time. I put my hand on Wanda's cheek. "Wands I'm going to pick you up and carry you, okay?" She didn't answer and I did not expect one. Slowly I slipped my arms under her body and stood. I was extremely worried about how light she was but new that I had time to worry about that later. I followed the guys through the compound and headed for the jet.
