I have stories written under the same screen name on both Twisting the Hellmouth and Adult fanfiction. They range from HP/Buffy xover, Buffy/highlander xover, and straight (so to speak) HP.

I'm working on my website which will have all my old Star Trek TOS and TNG, Highlander, and Buffy stories. I've been writing fanfiction for nearly 15 years and cringe when I look back on my early TNG fanfiction (which was the genre I started in) I only have a few of those. If you dare to read them when I get them all up, please be prepared for a little purple prose and ephemisms. I got a little better by the time I started in to Star Trek TOS, but didn't really start to improve until I latched on to great friends and absolutely wonderful betas when I gravitated to the world of Highlander. My Buffy and Harry Potter fanfiction has only benefitted from the experiences I took with me from Highlander.

Harry Potter Specific Vocabulary and Spell Peeves

Apparation vs Apparition: the first is magical travel. The second is a spirit.
Runes vs Ruins: The first is writing/language. The second is a falling down (usually old) structure or building.
Defiant vs Definite: The first is being rebellious. The second is being certain.
Occlumency vs Legillimency: The first is a technique to protect the mind from invasion. The second is a technique to invade another's mind.
Bear vs Bare: The first is (an animal obviously) to carry 'bear the weight of all his secrets'. The second is to reveal. He bared his soul to the world. Or without cover as in :grin: bare-assed naked.
Expelliarmus: Is a disarming spell, not a summoning spell. It doesn't draw an opponant's wand to the caster's hand. It knocks it out of the opponant's hand.
Murderer vs Killer: Murdering someone and killing in self defense (or the defense of others) is NOT the same thing.

??I've also never understood the movies having the Stupify spell knock people backwards. It's a 'stunning' spell, ie, knocking them out... Right?
