Chapter 1:

It has been over a year since he had left Los Angeles. Since his eyes had opened for real. He drove his car and trailer all around America in the hope to find a place where he could feel at home again.

The problem was that he didn't stay long in places. He was friendly toward the people that lived near him, he was even invited to barbecues or an evening out. The people tried to connect with him but he kept everyone at arm's length, emotionally speaking. Physically he still had his portion of sex. He still partied and took drugs, the only difference was, he didn't look for a deeper connection. Just have a one-night stand. He had closed himself off, had put high, unbreakable walls around him. Little did he know that an accident would change everything.

One evening a storm was raging while Lucifer drove past the sign that said Reefside in big white letters. He watched the air when he groaned, "What is your problem?" towards the sky.

A bolt of lightning struck down the first time. The rain fell in sheets pelting everything in sight giving the sky a pitch-black color, limiting the view in front of him. He only saw the tail lights of the jeep in front of him.

Lucifer sighed, he wasn't used to having the canvas roof over his head, "You couldn't have wait a bloody hour or so to get pissed?"

A bolt of second lightning struck down on earth hitting the car in the process, the car in front of him was shimming. Lucifer slowed his car down to get a bit more distance. There wasn't something wrong with his reflexes, he just didn't want to risk his Corvette in this weather.

The jeep on the other hand gained speed rapidly while pulling to the left and so towards the railing of the bridge. The vehicle was obviously out of control. This couldn't go anything but wrong.

The devil stopped his car from the moment that the Jeep flew over the railing. He saw the last of the car disappear into the water. Only the back of the car was still visible on the surface of the river while the rest was already swallowed by the river. He looked around to see if his sister hadn't arrived yet. Since she wasn't here yet, there was still a chance that he could save the driver.

"Dad, you will have to wait until you collect this one. That's for making me drive with my rooftop and ruining my suit. This is an Armani you know." Lucifer growled at the sky. He looked for spectators, not hesitating the moment he noticed that he was the only soul on top of the large bridge.

He took a deep breath and jumped after the car. Luckily he could hold his breath for a very, very long time. Something that had saved him when he was dropped in the river of fire after his rebellion.

The underwater visibility was a disaster, the pitch-black sky didn't help much either, even for an angel like him, fallen or not it was still what he was. He did the only thing he could do in the hope that the driver of the car would not go nuts. He shifted his dark brown eyes to his red, glowing devil eyes.

This set of eyes gave him a better view in the darkness of the deepest pits of Hell so the water in the river shouldn't be any problem either.

The Jeep wasn't hard to find this way, he swam to the other side of the car. What he first thought of seeing a woman he found a man with long dark hair against the window. The man was clearly unconscious while the car was filling up with water or at least that is what the devil thought. The man was clearly unresponsive at his knocking on the window.

He took the handle of the door in his hand and pulled with all his angelic power ripping the door out of his hinges with ease, letting the piece of metal fall wherever towards the bottom of the stream. He took the man in his arms but didn't want to pull too hard and rip the man apart. He knew exactly how much strength he could use.

Lucky he had done that or the man would have lost both his legs, he was stuck underneath the wheel. Lucifer looked at the sky above the surface and shook his head. What he didn't know though was that his Father knew his son very well. He knew he would go after this man. The Almighty God had a very good reason to send his son after his human or at least he had hoped that his son would go after the human. The devil didn't disappoint his old man.

He had hoped that this would finally give his son what he was looking for since he was a young angel. Maybe just maybe it was out of a feeling of guilt for sending Chloe into his path or for his harsh reaction to his son questioning him.

Lucifer ripped the steering wheel and half the console out of the car. The unconscious man fell against his chest, straight in his arms. Lucifer sighed, "Come on, let's get you to the hospital."

Tommy felt himself fall out of his car straight against something soft, yet hard, it was like a human chest. He didn't have the strength to open his eyes though so he did the only thing he could do, let himself fall where ever he landed.

He didn't suspect to feel the next feeling again though, the amazing feeling to flash from one place to the other by teleportation. Was this a dream? Was this person one of them or was this the feeling of dying?

Lucifer teleported him out of the water and back on the top of the bridge. Changing his eye color back to their normal dark brown color the moment his feet touched the asphalt.

He was about to bring the man to the hospital when Tommy muttered something that shocked him, "Your teleportation is way more comfortable than mine back in the days."

He said this with his last energy, his world went back for real this time still in Lucifer's arms, his one arm hanging loosely next to his body while the other laid on top of his chest.

Did Lucifer hear that right? Did just say he teleported before? Was this some cruel joke of Dad to let a sibling drown? The devil sighed, answers need to wait but he couldn't take him to the hospital and risk exposure of whatever he was. He took the man towards his car and placed him in the passenger seat.

"I am so sorry I have to do this but I need to know where you live." Lucifer sighed in a whisper while he looked for the man's wallet, "I hope your address will be still readable." Lucifer stood at the passenger's side and brought Tommy carefully towards him to search the man's left pocket, his leaning against his shoulder. He took the wallet and placed Tommy as comfortably as possible in the passenger seat before closing the door.

He took a seat behind the wheel and placed Tommy's head against the window of his car with one of his jackets between the window and his head, serving as a sort of pillow.

Tommy's ID was ruined but still readable. The devil had seen worse in all of his time, "Let's see who you are, mystery man. So, nice to meet you, Mr. Oliver. Let's bring you home until I figured out what you are. Let's see if I can find 1992 Valencia Road. I suppose my phone is useless now so luckily for me I am really good at finding my way, plus I saw a Valencia Road on the map when I was looking at it, so no problem with my devilish memory it will all work out."

Lucifer thanked his angelic memory and the fact that he had looked on the map. He had studied Reefside, something made him pay attention to it. Something pulled him towards that town.

It was a 10-minute drive before he found a large house, a slate gray house with a small porch on the left of it. On the right of it, a large part stuck out from the rest of it. It was located on the outskirts of town in the middle of a forest. He would soon learn that everything had its reasons.

"Looks like we made it." Lucifer said to Tommy knowing very well that he couldn't answer, "I hope I am not going to regret this. You do live in an excellent place when you have something to hide."

"Let's open the door to your house first, shall we. No problem, this devil doesn't need a key to open doors." He stepped towards the front door and opened it without the need for a key. He just turned the doorknob. He was smart enough to leave the door open before he walked to the passenger side of his car.

Tommy laid exactly how Lucifer had placed him. He had driven like the detective, keeping his speed limits being careful not to hurt the young man next to him even more.

The first fallen angel opened the door of the passenger side and let Tommy's head fall against his chest, before picking him up gently.

He brought Tommy inside the house where he found the couches on his right side. He would look for a room in the morning. He placed Tommy on the couch and pulled a blanket over him. He wasn't sure what to think of it so he wasn't going to leave him just like that. Luckily for Lucifer, he could do without a night of sleep.

He went to his trailer and took a bottle of scotch he had bought during his trip to Reefside. Quickly enough he found a glass in the kitchen he could use and placed himself on the other couch his bottle of scotch on the table and a glass in his hand.

He kept a close eye on the man laying on the couch. He would see if he get some answers soon. The strangest thing was that he felt a connection with Tommy. Something he never felt before, not even with his siblings.

All he could do now was wait.
