Soft fingers brushed his lips and even if he's still half asleep he can't help but smile.
"Good morning husband.." whispered by his blonde wife beside him.
He opened his eyes and an innocent face with a warm smile greeted him. This sight is very refreshing and he just want to stay like this as long as possible.
Her fingers is tracing every part of his face.. he caught her hand and put it in his lips for a kiss. He closed his eyes again to sleep but he didn't let go of her hands.
"Hey.. husband.. its 7am.. You need to leave early right?"
"Luce.. it is you who'll leave early today remember? You'll go somewhere with Jellal?" Natsu responded with his eyes close and in a sleepy voice.
Before his wife can respond, he slid his arm under her shoulder then scooped her to cuddle. He released her hand then he snaked his free arm to her waist and pulled her closer.
Lucy's facing her husbands chest, she swallow hard and she heard him continue.
"It would be nice though if you'll stay.."
She slightly tilted her head to look at her husbands face. His eyes are still close, lips slightly parted. Lucy smiled and said . "You're lucky, Jellal just texted me that he already left.."
She was cut off when her husband tightens his embrace again, "I'm really lucky Luce.. I have you as my wife.." he kissed her head then heaved a sigh.
She was stunned, heart beating fast.
"and you're right.. I have to leave now but I won't.." he said then whispered "I missed you so much wife, I missed your scent.. your voice.. your smile.. I've never missed anyone like this.. I wasn't able to sleep this past few days coz you're not beside me.. what did you do to me wife?.."
She can hear her own heart thumping.. He's been confessing a lot of things to her since last night and right now she feel so special.. happy.. she squeezed herself to her husband's body, he responds by hugging her more tightly. Then she said,
"You're getting very talkative husband.." she kissed his jaw and continued "I missed you too Natsu... now sleep.."
Natsu and Lucy went back to the city together later that day. Natsu dropped Lucy home then he drove off to his office.
While Lucy is in the elevator to their penthouse, her phone rang and she frowned with a little smile in her lips.
"Natsu? Is there something.." she was cut off by her husband.
"I miss you already Luce.."
Lucy smiled widely and responded "We were just together like 5 minutes ago.."
"I know.. but.. I still miss you wife.. should I just go home so we can go to the party together?"
She laughed and said "No Natsu. I know you missed a lot of your work yesterday so you have to finish it now.."
"But.. wife.. I thought I'm the boss of my company? and it's my birthday! I want to spend every minute of it with you.."
"You're absolutely right, you're the boss but we don't want your employees thinking that they have a sloppy boss, right?" she chucked then went out of the lift. She smiled when she saw a box in front of their door. "And I don't want to spend every minute of your birthday with you..."
"Huh? Now I'm really going home..." he was cut off by his wife.
"I want to spend my whole life with you.." she said with a smile. "I miss you too husband now go to work and drive safely, okay?"
Natsu was blushing and wasn't able to say anything aside from "Yes ma'am!"
She ended the call and then reached for the box in front of their door. She already knew what it was and did not bother looking at the card.
Once inside the penthouse, she ran upstairs, put the box on the bed and opened it. She was stunned seeing a knee length black haltered dress but she was more excited to see her gift for Natsu. She checked the other items inside the box, there's a pair of black open toe high heels that matches the dress, a small gold purse and a black paper bag with a small box inside. She took the paper bag and reached for the box inside, she opened it and saw a simple yet elegant wedding ring.
She grinned like a little girl upon seeing the rings. She took her husbands' ring and checked if Loki didn't forget about her other request – to have her name engraved on Natsu's ring and her husbands' name on hers.
Her eyes glistened when she saw her name on Natsu's ring and she bit her lower lip. She put the ring back to the box and reached out for her bag. Last night, she wrote a letter for her husband and that's part of her birthday gift for him. As well as her gift for their first month of marriage.
She's so excited to give this to her husband and to try harder to make their marriage work. She can't help herself from sending a message to Natsu though she knew that he's busy.
She texted him and was about to take a shower so she can prepare early for the party. But she received an emergency call and she immediately rushed to the hospital.
Natsu is standing in front of his desk reading a document when his phone rang. It was a message from Lucy saying "I miss you Natsu…"
He smiled and dialed her number but it busy. He slid his phone back to his pocket then she saw Lisanna with a big smile while running to him.
She was about to throw herself to Natsu when he stepped back and spoke "Stop."
She was taken aback for a moment but the smile in her lips never faded... "It's your birthday, you shouldn't be grumpy..."
"Then leave if you don't want me to be grumpy." He walked to his chair and Lisanna followed his steps. "What brought you here? You should be preparing for the party, right?" he said not looking at her and while still reading the document he's holding.
"I'm thinking of going to the party with you…" she said in a sweet voice. Natsu did not respond and just ignored her
"I don't need a chaperone, Lisanna. And I still have a lot to do, so can you please leave?" He sat on his chair and was about to take a sip of coffee when Lisanna turned her back and said "We both know that you're not capable to loving someone else besides us… Zeref, Mavis, Erza, Mira, Gray, and me. So, I'm not a bit bothered about Lucy. I know you'll be tired of her sooner or later."
Then she was gone. Natsu was left speechless… He knew that what Lisanna said is partly true. It's hard for him to open up himself again to other people because of his fear of being left behind… but Lucy…
He shook his head and let out a loud sigh. "I have plenty of time to think about but not now…" he said to himself.
A few hours later, Natsu is already at the venue and his party is about to start. He kept looking for his wife since he arrived but he can't find her. He asked everyone who knows Lucy and none of them had seen her.
He looked at his watch then dialed Lucy's number but there was no response. She wasn't responding to his text messages as well. He was getting worried when he heard Mira say "You seem distracted, Natsu. Is Lucy still not here?"
He faced her and just nodded. He's still spacing out.
"Natsu, can we talk?" Mira asked while looking at her watch. "You still have plenty of time before the party starts."
Natsu looked at Mira and frowned when he realized that she looks pale. He rarely sees Mira like this so, he grabbed her hand and led her to his VIP room.
"Mira, are you ok? Are you sick? What happened?" He asked while still frowning.
Mira is just looking at the floor and biting her lower lip hard. She doesn't know how to start but she can no longer hide it from him..
"Natsu… promise me you won't do anything irrational after you hear what I'm about to say…..."
Natsu sat on the sofa while massaging his head with one hand.
"Thank you for telling me Mira but can you please leave me for a moment?" he asked in a low voice.
Mira did not respond and left the room silently.
He reached out for his phone in his pocket and there's still no call or message from his wife. He's getting anxious from that and he just found out that Lisanna is responsible for his misery this past few days. He was so elated earlier today but now; everything is starting to crumble. He put his phone beside him then rest his head on the backrest of the sofa. He closed his eyes for a moment then before he knew it, Lisanna is already standing in front of him.
"Hey, people are looking for you. It's about time to start your speech…" she said while reaching out to touch his face but he caught her hand. He let her hand go and left without even looking at her.
He's not ready to deal with her now. He's so mad that he might say things that he'll regret later so he just walked away.
When he returned to his party, it was about time for his speech. He reached for his phone in his pocket but it's not there. I must've left it in the VIP room. He thought.
He started to walk back to the room but Erza caught him. "Natsu, everyone is looking for you. It's time to give your speech birthday boy." She said while giving him a big smile.
He sighed and gave Erza a small smile. "Alright. But I have a favor to ask, can you please check if I left my phone in the VIP room? Lucy's still not here and I want to call her as soon as I'm done with my speech…"
"So, that's why you look so gloomy!" Erza let out a small laugh and continued "Of course, leave it to me. I'll check it for you. Now, go. It's rude to make your visitors wait."
He just nodded and left.
Erza went to the VIP room but Natsu's phone is not there but she saw Lisanna leaving the room.
After his speech, Natsu calmed down a little bit. He saw his brother Zeref and Mavis, this is the first time that they were able to attend his birthday after 3 years. He happily chatted with them and when he reached out to his pocket for his phone, that's when he remembers that it's missing.
He looked for Erza in the crowd and found her with Grey and Juvia.
He smirked when he saw Grey. "Even in my birthday, you didn't even bother to dress appropriately." Then he looked at Juvia who's wearing a long blue gown with a spaghetti strap and high slit on the right side. Then he looked back at his friend. He's holding his coat and almost all of the button of his long sleeve is unbuttoned. "You're hopeless Grey."
All of his friend laughed at his remark and Grey just shrugged his shoulder and said without thinking "What's the use of this beautiful body if it won't be seen by the maidens around me?"
That remark earned him a strike on the nape of his neck from Juvia. "You're so full of yourself Grey. Stop it."
For a few minutes, Natsu forget that his wife is still not there. He remembered it when Erza said "By the way Natsu, we have not seen Lucy yet and your phone is not in the room. Are you sure that you left it there?"
He heaved out a sigh and responded. "Yeah, Lucy's still not here…"
"Do you need me to have someone look for her?" Gray asked.
"No, I'm thinking maybe she's at the hospital… but I just need to find my phone so I can call her." He turned his back to his friends and said "But if she's not here in 30mins, please do what you need to do..."
He started walking away when he heard Erza say, "I saw Lisanna leave the VIP room earlier, maybe you should ask her…"
Natsu stopped for a moment to respond. "Thank you, Erza"
Then he started to look for Lisanna. He saw her with a bunch of paparazzi, and she immediately run to him when she saw him.
She literally threw herself to him and he had no choice but to hug her so she won't fall.
"There's a lot of eyes on us now Natsu. They might think that the news about us is really true." She smiled mischievously.
He let her go of his embrace and grabbed her hand leading her to the VIP room.
He shut the door hard that it surprised Lisanna.
"What was that?!" she asked frowning.
"You tell me Lisanna." He said in a cold voice. "What the heck are you doing?"
"Uhh.. you dragged me here Natsu.." she said then a sexy smile carved her lips.. "you dragged me here so… what do you want me to do for you Natsu?" she asked in a very seductive tone.
Natsu leaned to her ears and said "I want you to give me back my damn phone Lisanna."
Then he stepped back from her. She was startled but that did not stop her from seducing Natsu.
"I don't have your phone Natsu or maybe I have it.. would you like check me hun?" she said with a coy smile.
"I don't have time to play with you Lisanna." He said in a low voice.
"But you have time to play with Lucy? You're just using him Natsu. We both know that. You know yourself that you're still in love with me." She said it with full confidence. "And I love you Natsu, so don't make it hard for everyone."
Natsu who's been avoiding Lisanna's eyes since they entered the VIP room looked her in the eyes and chuckled. "Who told you that I'm playing with Lucy? That I'm just using her?" he asked "Yes, I was in love with you for a long time but now I'm not sure anymore…"
"You're just confused Natsu. You just pity her, that's all." She said while walking to Natsu. She wrapped her arms around his neck and continued "She don't deserve you Natsu. She's not even here now.. and did you know that she's a disgraced to her family?"
He unwrapped her arms around him and sat on the sofa. Elbows on his knees and he's looking down.
"Lisanna" his voice is angry. "I know everything that you did. I'm gonna let it slide for Mira's sake. But if you try anything again that will ruin my relationship with Lucy, I'll never forgive you. And you don't have to tell me anything about my wife because I know everything about her. Don't talk about her like that again."
His words struck her hard. "Are you choosing her over me? You're crazy Natsu." She walked towards him and said "Do you think that will stop me from getting what's mine?"
Before Natsu knew it, Lisanna is already on his lap straddling him. She was about to kiss him when he said "Lisanna stop."
"My patience is already at its limit and I can no longer tolerate you. Get off me now!" Natsu said in a loud voice.
Lisanna did not budge, instead she reached for the zipper of dress on the back but before she can start to unzip it, Natsu stood up carrying her little body and lay her on the sofa.
Natsu leaned on the wall that is in front of the sofa. "I'm gonna ask one last time Lisanna, where is my phone?"
"You're not getting it back Natsu until you give me what I want."
Natsu who's been trying to keep his calm the whole time can no longer contain his anger.
He walked towards Lisanna, grabbed her arm without thinking if this will bruise her or if it's hurting her. He pinned her to the wall and leveled his face to hers. "I'm done with you being a brat Lisanna. I almost lost her because of you. I'll forgive you for what you did but don't expect anything else from me."
"Tell me that again after you kiss me, Natsu." She challenged. "Are you really done with me?"
He just stared at her, he can feel her breath and her scent definitely brings back memories that he no longer wants to remember. "You can't do it Natsu because you know that you won't be able to stop once you start kissing me." She said with a coy smile.
"Tch." He smirked. "Is this what you want Lisanna?" he said before he started kissing her hard.
