This is a short one and the last one for today. But I already drafted the next chapters… so excited!
Let me know your thoughts! I read all your comments, sometimes I read it more than once lol. Heart heart!
It's still dark when Lucy woke up. She reached for the phone that she got from the villa and looked at the time… It was 4 am... She checked the previous call from Natsu and it was around 6 am. She's waiting for his update today… actually, she's waiting for him to call. She wanted to clarify if her ears were just messing with her when she heard him say that he loves her.
She's still so sleepy and she fell back to slumber in just a few minutes. The next time she woke up was because of her alarm clock. She almost jumped out of bed upon realizing that she missed his phone call. It's 7 am already. She looked for the phone and when she opened it, she felt so dismayed. There was no phone call. No voicemail. Nothing.
She checked her personal phone hoping that maybe… just maybe he called her there but there's also no sign that he tried to contact her on that phone.
She's not in a good mood but she didn't want to dwell much on it.
Before leaving for work, she decided to have breakfast in their kitchen. The TV is open but she didn't really care, she's not interested in watching anything right now. She was focused on her food but when she heard her husband's name, her focus was immediately switched to the TV.
It was a press conference taken a few days ago. He wasn't wearing his usual coat and tie for work. He's wearing a casual black sweater and what caught her eyes are his necklace.
The reporters didn't fail to notice it too and she heard someone asking about it and he responded, "It's a present from my wife."
Then another reporter asked, why he's not revealing her identity. His answer made her heart skip a beat. "Lucy.." then he took a heavy breath "Lucy H. Dragneel, that's my wife's name."
That made the crowd go crazy but it was also the queue to end the press conference.
Lucy was shocked at what she just watched. He just named her in front of the world! Though people won't really know that it's her because there's so many "Lucy" in the world but the fact that he said her name means a lot to her.
She just stared at her food while thinking… What's your deal Natsu. You're making me more confused every day…
At exactly 12nn, Sting was standing in front of her office door. She was taken aback when she opened the door, she wasn't expecting him there.
"Yoh." He said while raising his right hand.
"Don't do that next time, you're gonna give me a heart attack."
He scratched his head with a big grin on his face while saying "sorry…"
"You're forgiven. C'mon, I'm starving." She said with the usual smile on her face when she's with him.
They went to the nearest restaurant; it wasn't fancy at all but they have a lot of decent meals. They finished their lunch a little bit late because they were talking a lot. It seems like, there are so many things to talk about when she's with Sting. Any random topic will sometimes end up in a debate or sometimes they can't agree more with each other. It's always new and fun.
"So, let's go grab your coffee?" She heard him asked.
"Okay."
The coffee shop was just a few stores away from the resto, there weren't too many people so they got her coffee pretty fast. Lucy had to go back to the hospital so they can't really stay at the coffee shop but aside from the coffee, Sting also bought her a slice of cake as he promised.
When they got out, Lucy is holding her coffee with her right hand and she have her personal bag and the small paper bag. He was planning to carry the cake that's inside a small paper bag until they got back to the hospital but Lucy snatched it from him saying that he might take it back so to be safe, she'll carry it herself. But of course, it was all a joke for her and she can't stop laughing because of that.
He lightly pats her head. "Now, now. Stop laughing Lucy, people will think you're crazy." But he also has a big smile on his face. She calmed herself down and said...
"You don't really have to walk me back to the hospital. It's just a few blocks from here." She said but before Sting can respond, her phone rang. It was in her pocket and she's having a hard time getting it so Sting took her personal bag and the small paper bag to free one of her hands.
She reached for her phone and it was Jellal. She looked at Sting and said thank you in a very low voice and he just nodded.
After a few minutes, she hung up the phone and smiled at him. "You didn't really have to take my bags you know but thank you." She tried to get her things back but Sting started to walk in the direction of the hospital. "I'll carry these for you. Just enjoy your coffee while we walk back to the hospital."
It was already lunchtime when they arrived home. It was a smooth flight and Natsu's excited to see his wife.
Gray is talking to his phone when they got off the plane. After the phone call, Natsu asked while walking to the car that's waiting for them.
"Do you know where she is?"
"Of course. I won't be the perfect security for you and Lucy if I'm not a few steps ahead of everything." He said confidently.
"Good. Let's go to where she is now." There was a long pause before Gray responded.
"Uh. I don't think that's a good idea, you go home first. Visit her later..."
"Why?" Natsu can feel that there's something wrong.
"Just visit her later bro." Gray insisted.
"No. Let's go to where she is now." He used his authoritative voice and Gray wasn't able to do anything.
When they arrived at their destination, Natsu immediately went out of the car to look for his wife but just as he stepped out, he saw her wife laughing and she's with that blonde guy.
He's getting jealous and he wanted to snatch his wife away from him. She's mine. He thought.
He started walking to their direction but he heard an annoyed Gray behind him.
"Where do you think you're going?" Gray asked with a smirk in his face.
Natsu looked at him with a poker face. "Obviously, to my wife."
"Then?"
"What, then?"
"Then what are you gonna do? Snatched her from him?"
Natsu's expression became hard. "Any problem with that?"
"Bro. You'll make things worse." Gray said while walking to Natsu and offering him a smoke.
Natsu took one but he didn't light it.
"So, should I just stand here and watch while she looks happy with someone else?" He asked while staring at his wife and the blonde guy who's carrying her bag. "I don't think so. I haven't lost in my business and I don't plan on losing in my personal life."
Gray let out a sarcastic laugh. "Is that all you've got Natsu? C'mon bro. You're all talk when it comes with your wife. Fight fair and square."
Natsu leaned on his car while playing with the cigarette on his hand.
"You've had your chance to make her laugh like that but sorry bro, you blew it. Hard."
"You don't have to spell it out like that Gray. I know that already…"
"Good, again. Fight fair and square, you still got the upper hand here. You're still her husband and he's still just someone who's trying to win her over and lastly your Natsu Dragneel." Gray smiled at his friend and continued to lift his spirit. "You're not just some random professional tennis guy. Now, get in the car."
Natsu looked at his friend in awe.
"Get in the car bro before people start to notice you. You'll get your chance with your wife, you just have to listen to me for now, 'kay?"
Gray went in and Natsu followed.
"So, what should a good son-in-law do when he messed up big time?" Gray asked with a grin on his face.
