Hello, everyone! This is my very first take on a Super Smash Bros fanfic as I'm a huge fan of the series and I've been trying to think of ideas for a smash bros fic but it's difficult until I've come up with one!
This fanfic is about a young adult who's in college and was able to get Smash Ultimate. However, all he dreams is if he would ever meet the fighters themselves inside of their worlds until one day...he's able to. This is Chapter 1 of Meet the Smashers, a fanfic from the author who writes "The Life of Ash and Serena." Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own the Super Smash Bros. series, the legendary man himself, Masahiro Sakurai does. I also don't own any of the series mentioned such as Mario, Pokemon, Sonic, Metal Gear, and etc. They belong to their respective owners.
Chapter 1: Mr. Video Game Himself
December 7, 2018
"Yes! I'm home and I can't wait to play this game, finally!" A 19-year old boy said excitedly as he walked into his bedroom, or what he calls it, his own personal game room. "I've been waiting for this game for months and I'm excited to play it! All of my favorite characters in one game!"
The boy holds up a copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in his hands and right as he woke up on this day, he went into his car quickly and got the game from the Nintendo NYC store. This boy's name is Kris and he's a huge video gamer. Ever since he was a kid, he started playing video games and played Super Mario Bros. with his parents on his dad's NES.
When he became a teenager, he started to become interested in being a Super Smash Bros. fan with Smash for 3DS and Wii U on the horizon. He graduated high school a year ago and there was one game announced soon after that warms his heart up, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He also was able to make his bedroom turn into a game room for himself too.
Around his game room are multiple consoles such as his dad's NES and SNES, a GameCube, Wii, and a Switch. He also includes handhelds, such as his mom's GameBoy, a DS and 3DS of his own.
"Man, I'm almost done with my semester. I'll be able to put in heavy hours with this game and unlock every fighter!" Kris said as he opened the game and put the cartridge in his Switch. He then starts up the game and something bothers him.
"Hmm...more than 70 fighters, huh?" He looks out his window and sees a single star in the night sky.
"A star? Reminds me of Rosalina. One of my favorite characters of Mario. Fighter #48." Kris said. "Wait...what if I can wish upon a star? You know there's one dream I want..."
What's Kris' dream you may ask? "Wishing star, this may be personal but, I wish I could meet and become friends with every fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Mario's my childhood hero and I love rescuing the princess. Link is also a legendary hero to me as well and I would love to meet him. I even find the Pokemon Trainer Red to be very unique in the game and I would love to meet him too as well. I want to become a Pokemon Trainer one day..." Kris explains his wish to the star.
He goes back to his game listening to the song, "Lifelight", and watches the opening of the game. Just as then, the star shines as if it might have listened to Kris' words of explanation.
Hours later...
It has been 5 hours since Kris started playing the game and he already unlocked 10 fighters from playing Classic Mode and World of Light.
"Yes! I unlocked R.O.B.! Fighter #42!" Kris cheered. "I think it's weird that Sakurai added it as a peripheral for the NES." Kris looks over his shelf and notices his R.O.B. sitting there with a cartridge of Gyromite next to him. "But I don't mind. R.O.B's a piece of history for Nintendo and saved the industry! I love this robot!"
Kris looks over his clock and notices the time. "Woah! 2 AM? I think I should get some sleep..." Kris yawns. He gets up and turns off his Switch and lays down on his Pokemon bed and sleeps quietly.
While he's asleep, the Switch logo on the dock lights up (I know it doesn't, but let's pretend it does) and a mysterious portal opens up. Emerging from the portal are two hands...they are named Master Hand and Crazy Hand.
"Come on, Crazy, will you?" Master Hand whispers.
"I don't know where we are..." Crazy Hand whispers as well.
"Me neither...but we're summoned. I thought I heard that somebody wants to meet the Super Smash Bros. Fighters?" Master Hand said.
"Yeah, me too." Crazy Hand agrees. He looks over and notices a person sleeping on a Pokemon bed. "Maybe him?"
Master Hand looks over and spectates the person. "Hmmm...yeah...that seems like it. Perhaps we can give him the chance to let him meet the fighters."
"Well, what should we do?" Crazy Hand asks.
"Okay, listen to me..." Master Hand whispers a plan to Crazy while Kris is deep asleep.
December 8, 2018
It is now the next day at 10 AM. Kris is still asleep as he opens his eyes and makes a moaning sound from his mouth. "Owwww..."
"Man, how long have I've been playing last night?" Kris asked himself. "I guess I should eat breakfast then I'll continue playing." He gets up from his bed and notices something strange in his room. Over by his consoles, he notices a strange blue light blinking on his Switch.
"What the?" Kris walks over to his switch and a blue circle is highlighted on the left corner of the dock. "It looks like a button...I wonder what happens..."
Kris slowly reaches his finger towards the blue circle and by the next few seconds, he cautiously presses it. Just as he presses it, a large portal opens up and gives Kris a shock on his face. "AHH!"
He falls down to the ground and just as then, two hands appear emerging from the portal and gives out a shout in his room. "What the hell?! Wait, are you-?"
"Yes...we're who you're thinking." Master Hand said.
"You two...in my room! But...how? You're from a video game..." Kris asked in confusion.
"I'm not sure how we're here but we heard someone, you likely, wishing to be friends with the Super Smash Bros. Fighters?" Master Hand asked.
"Wait, what? When did I-?" Kris was still in confusion until he hit a realization. Turns out that star was real that he wished on. He granted a wish to meet fighters and now both Master Hand and Crazy Hand are in his room. "Oh...my...god..."
"So...you two arrive here to fulfill my wish? Are you going to send me to different worlds?" Kris asked.
"Oh, we can do better than that! Crazy, introduce it." Mater Hand answered. Crazy Hand snaps his fingers and out of nowhere, an unusual device appears.
"Woah, what is that?" Kris asks.
"This is called the Super Smash Transporter. Allow me to explain: this device can allow you to meet up with the Super Smash Bros. fighters in their worlds. Just put in a game on the tray and you'll be sent to that game's universe. Of course, you have to hit that hidden button on your device over there."
"That's so cool. I can't believe I'm gonna meet video game characters in reality! After I just got Smash Ultimate and now...this is gonna be my greatest day ever..." Kris said excitedly.
"So, young man. What's it going to be? Who do you want to meet first?" Master Hand asks.
Kris thinks it over for a moment. "Hmmm...you know it'd be good if I go over each character by their number and there's more than 69 fighters in the game. Fighter #1 is Mario and I believe that's where I should start! I'm going to meet my childhood hero, Mario!"
"THen so be it! Place a game on the tray and you'll be sent to the Mushroom Kingdom!" Master Hand said.
"Okay!" Kris looks over in his cabinet of video games deciding which Mario game should he insert in. It wouldn't be until a few minutes later that Kris finally decides upon a game. "Ah-ha! This should do it." He lays down his copy of Super Mario Odyssey on the tray which identifies the world.
"GAME: SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY. WORLD: MUSHROOM KINGDOM." A robotic voice is heard.
"Wait...so now I'm able to travel to Mario's world?" Kris asked.
"That's how it works! Enjoy, fellow smasher!" Master Hand said. Before they head back into the portal, one more thing needs to be mentioned. "Oh! I almost forgot! Take this."
Master Hand snaps his fingers and on Kris' hands is a phone, but a special type of phone. "What's this?"
"That's the iSmash. A special type of phone made by us! Make sure you get these fighters contacts so you'll be able to talk to them anytime you want!" Master Hand explained. "I'll be sure to send them those type of phones overtime too."
"Awesome! I can't wait!" Kris said.
"Well, see you later, fellow smasher!" Both Master and Crazy Hand get back into the portal to their world whereas it stays open waiting for Kris to jump in.
"Okay, Kris, this is it. You're about to meet your favorite video game characters and some friendships are about to be made. As Mario says...lets-a-go!" Kris hops into the portal and it closes as he's sent to Mario's universe: The Mushroom Kingdom.

It was a woozy ride, but Kris safely made it to the Mushroom Kingdom. The secret kingdom unlocked after Mario rescued Princess Peach from Bowser marrying her. One thing to note is that Mario also tried to propose to Peach. Did it really happen? We see our gamer stumble out of the portal as his eyes are closed during the travel.
Once the portal closes, he opens his eyes. "Is this really...the Mushroom Kingdom?" He couldn't believe it, he's actually in Mario's world now. His wish was upon coming true. He was ready to meet all the fighters in the game.
"YES! I'm in Super Mario Odyssey! That means I can meet Mario! I wonder if his ship is here?" Kris takes a look around the area and wouldn't you know it? He sees the Odyssey, the ship that Mario and his hat partner, Cappy, that they traveled together to rescue Peach from Bowser's wedding ring.
"I wonder if they're inside of her castle?" Kris questioned. He makes no more stalling to himself and paves his way to Peach's Castle. He didn't give a care in the world that some Toads around the area are taking a gander at him.
"Who's that person?" Red Toad asked.
"I'm not sure. Should we warn the princess?" Blue Toad asked.
"Our hero, Mario, is inside of the castle. I'm sure he can stop this mysterious goer." Yellow Toad said.
"I don't know. He doesn't seem to be a threat like with one of Bowser's minions. If we hear the princess scream, we'll know for sure with this guy." Toadette said.
Princess Peach's Castle
"Okay, Mario, it's now time to send out wedding invitations to many people around the kingdom." Peach said as she sat down on one of her tables inside.
"I hope those don't get confused with the Smash Bros. invitations. We were sent a bunch of them and even Daisy gets to join as well." Mario said.
"Honey, don't worry. We're reminded that the Ultimate tournament is happening after we get married so we'll be fighting together as husband and wife." Peach smiled.
"I can't wait to become King of the Mushroom Kingdom! I've been saving you for many years from that evil Bowser and now's the time to come for us to be wedded." Mario said in excitement. He loved Peach for many years and he was ready to commit and have Peach as his lovely wife.
Peach giggles at her fiancé's excitement. "I'll never forget that proposal at the Moon. It was so romantic for my Italian hero! I love you, Mario."
"I love you too, my sweet Peach!" Both Mario and Peach were alone in the lobby and decided to seal their lips together. Peach couldn't help but feel tickled by Mario's mustache.
They decided to stop kissing their lips together when they opened their eyes and took notice of a Toad Guard in the front of the castle. "Princess...?"
Both Mario and Peach quickly pull away and blush profoundly at each other. "Ahem. What is it, Toad?"
"There's a mysterious person out front in your castle. Should I let him in? He said he wants to meet you." The Guard Toad answered.
"Hmm...what's he-a look like?" Mario asked.
"He has black hair, some glasses, some T-shirts with a Smash logo in the center and some jeans as well. Looks to be a citizen from New Donk City." The Guard Toad described.
"Huh. Send him in, then. We're pleased to have foreign travelers here." Peach said.
The Toad Guard did so. He lets the person in (which was Kris) as he walks in and his head is filled with excitement seeing Mario and Peach in person. "Oh my god...is it really you?"
"Well, hello there. Who are you? Are you from the Metro Kingdom?" Peach greeted Kris.
"Actually...no. You may not know me, but I come from another dimension. My name is Kris and it's an honor to meet you two, Mario and Princess Peach." Kris introduced himself to the two.
"Well, nice to-a meet you, Kris." Mario agrees to shake Kris' hand.
"Do you mind if I can talk to you two? I've always wanted to meet the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom." Kris asked.
"Sure. We don't mind. Me and Mario are just going over some wedding invitations to send out. We're getting married soon." Peach answered.
"You two are engaged?!" Kris shouted in excitement. This was it. If there's one thing Kris dreams of in the Mario universe, it's how both Mario and Peach are going to be married together and become the rulers of the Mushroom Kingdom.
"Yes, yes. I know that our wedding's a big excitement but it won't happen for about a month. We just want to send out the invitations and make the final preparations around." Peach said.
"Say, I'm wondering, where's your brother, Luigi? Is he here too?" Kris asked.
"Nah, Luigi's at his mansion chilling with his girlfriend." Mario responded.
"Oh, well, at some point, I'll probably have a chance to meet him and Daisy." Kris said, shrugging his shoulders accepting Mario's answer. Just as then, Kris' iSmash beeps from his pocket. He quickly takes it out and notices something about it. As he opens it up, the phone reads 'Fighter Dex'.
"Fighter Dex?" Kris questioned.
"What's that, Kris?" Peach asked.
Kris is in shy mode figuring out what to say to both Peach and Mario. There is one way he speaks out...
"Oh, this? My phone. A friend of mine texted me about something." Kris answered. The iSmash scanned Mario only and it looks to be that data was sent to the phone.
Kris proceeds to read the information as it says:

Debut: Donkey Kong (Arcade, 1981)
Species: Human (Male)
Origin of Home: Mushroom Kingdom
"Wow..." Kris said fascinated by the information shown on the iSmash. "Uh, I mean, he's from New Donk City! I was doing some jump roping with him."
"Oh, that moon. My heart rate was pumping, doing 100 jumps in a row. It was worth it to power up the Odyssey more." Mario said.
"Hey, that reminds me! Why don't you hang out with me at the Metro Kingdom? Is Pauline doing a concert tonight?" Kris asked.
"I don't-a know. But I'm not sure if I can go, I have these invitations with Peach." Mario said.
"Oh, don't worry about that, baby. Go on, go. Be the adventurous hero you are. I'll take care of these right now." Peach assured.
"Are you sure?" Mario asked.
"Yes. I can send one to Luigi and Daisy at their mansion and our wonderful friends around." Peach said.
"Well, if you say so." Mario said. "Let-sa-go, Kris!"
Both Mario and Kris run out of Peach's castle as they head straight towards the Odyssey. Once on board, Mario throws his cap (or Cappy, in this case) on the globe and a travel selection was shown to him.
"Where to, Mario?" Cappy asked.
"The Metro Kingdom, Cappy! It's time for some metropolitan fun around the busy streets!" Mario answered.
"Alright, you got it!" Cappy said happily. Just after Cappy speaks, the Odyssey starts to power up and flies out of the Mushroom Kingdom and into the skies traveling the Earth.
While the Odyssey makes its journey to New Donk City, Kris and Mario start up a conversation together on the ship.
"Wow...the Odyssey looks nice. I've never ridden it before and it's impressive." Kris sits down on one of the seats inside. "So comfy..."
"Yeah, it's a sight to behold while we're on the Odyssey. I enjoy riding here. It reminds me of when I used to travel the galaxies around in space on the Comet Observatory with Rosalina." Mario said.
"Oh yeah! Since I've met you, wouldn't you say that adventure would be your favorite?" Kris asked. Kris has been a longtime fan of Mario games ever since he was a kid and his absolute favorite game is Super Mario Galaxy since it was childhood nostalgia for him. He even beat the game in 2 days.
"My favorite adventure? Well, traveling through space was a real blast but meeting Rosalina for the first time was probably the adventure that I liked the most. When she called Peach 'my special one', I knew my heart was in the right place to fall in love with her. I mean, after we landed back in Peach's Castle from my galactic adventure, it made me think that since I've fallen in love with Peach multiple times, I've decided to marry her." Mario explained.
"And when Bowser was preparing for a wedding, you decided that you were on your final clutches with him and decided to propose to Peach yourself?" Kris asked.
"Correct! After traveling to many kingdoms, it was time for me to finally marry my princess. I love Peach so much, she's better than my last girlfriend." Mario said.
"Pauline?" Kris guessed.
"Yeah. How did you know?" Mario asked.
"Oh! Ummm...she told me while I was at a concert of hers." Kris lied making up a story.
"Pauline and I are good friends now. I did a favor of her powering up a concert for the New Donk citizens to enjoy. It's similar to the time that I used to save her from DK. Always throwing barrels at me with a bunch of hot cans on board." Mario said, crossing his arms.
"I've also heard that you had other fun stuff as well with your friends. Like what about go-karting?" Kris asked.
"Oh yeah, the races! I love racing with my friends! I have my own circuit around Peach's Castle and there's a bunch of tracks around the kingdom. Bowser's Castle, an airport, a chocolate mountain, a child's room with many miniature toys of us, Peach's beach, a giant pinball machine, a mall in the Mushroom Kingdom, a very musical track, and even the best part, the Rainbow Roads. I always love the Rainbow Road where you drive on the planet's rings and on the moon too." Mario explained.
"That must have been a fun experience." Kris said.
"Oh, it was. That Rainbow Road was even a fighting location in a Smash Bros. tournament. I hope it's in the new one I'll be participating in. You know Smash Bros.? It's a tournament where many different people from different universes come together and fight in combat. You wouldn't believe the people I fight. There's a soldier name Snake and a robot with laser eyes named R.O.B. who I raced with before. A devious witch named Bayonetta, and my best friend from different universes, a hedgehog named Sonic.
Kris was surprised to hear that coming from Mario. He considers Sonic to be his best friend from many different universes. "Really? Sonic's your best friend? Why?"
"We always have fun when we hang out together. The sports competitions are such fun times with each other. We do boxing, gymnastics, sprinting, aqualympics, volleyball, you name it." Mario answered.
Speaking of sports, outside of the Olympics, what do you consider to be your favorite?" Kris asked. There's a bunch of sports that Mario participated in that Kris played before: golf, tennis, strikers, and baseball.
"Hmm...it would be football. WE all have our rough attitudes and we even have mega shots to the goal and also...Peach's outfit. She gave the hand to Daisy when those two competed against each other.
Kris giggled in his head for Mario's thoughts on Peach during that sport event. He played that game on the GameCube and couldn't help but laugh out loud in his head for how deeply in love Mario is with Peach.
"We're almost at the Metro Kingdom. Got another question for me?" Mario asked.
"Yes! Your parties too! Do you always have good luck whenever you try to get stars around the board?" Kris asked.
"Ah, those. Well, sometimes. Some minigames gave us pain. Like that one where we must avoid touching any lava bubbles and one where we must fit in the book holes. I'm lucky enough to do those team minigames. I'm paired up with Peach sometimes and we always make a good team together! She showed me how to make a cake as well.
Mario looks outside of the window and notices a bunch of tall skyscrapers nearby which means they're approaching their destination. "Well, looks-a-like we'll be dropping in soon. I hope you're ready for Pauline's Concert."
"Boy, am I?!" Kris said excitedly.
Just as then Odyssey begins to land in the kingdom, Mario begins to bring up an idea from his head. "Hey! How-a-about you-a join the concert with-a me?"
"Wait, really?" Kris asked with a blank look on his face.
"Yeah, sure! It would be nice to have a guest at the concert besides me." Mario said.
Kris' time with Mario gets even more better. First, he meets with him at Peach's Castle, then they take a ride together on the Odyssey, and now he joins Mario as a guest during Pauline's concert? This is definitely the best day that he has ever lived.
"Okay! Sure, I'll join in!" Kris responded in excitement.
"Alright then! I'll make sure to let Pauline know!" Mario smiled at the college gamer.
"I can't believe it...I'm joining in a concert with my childhood hero...that wish was the best thing that ever happened to me now! Thanks, Master and Crazy Hand." Kris thought to himself with his eyes close to making up tears.
New Donk City, Metro Kingdom
The Metro Kingdom, the most populous kingdom in all of Mario's world. It's bursting with different New Donk citizens who are driving in taxis, jump roping, and walking around their busy lives in the city. The mayor of the kingdom is a lady named Pauline, who's also a singer and performer with her concerts.
Pauline used to date Mario in the early years after being kidnapped by Donkey Kong, but their relationship didn't work out best, so they decided to stay as friends. IT was still good on Mario's side to not be in a relationship with Pauline because he has Peach and he's definitely in love with her. Especially with a wedding that's coming up in a matter of days.
Coming down on one of the skyscrapers of the busy New Donk City, the Odyssey makes a calm impact touching the concrete ground of the building.
"Whew! We're here! This is your home, correct? I assume that you know Pauline." Mario said.
"Well, yes, but I've never met her. I wanted to, but being a part of the audience is such a tough task to meet her." Kris responded.
"Don't worry about that now. I'll ask her if you can join in with me. I'm sure she can't say no to an old friend." Mario said.
Both Mario and Kris take a step out of the Odyssey, but once Kris gains a breath of fresh air, he gasps at how large and beautiful the city looks. "My god...it's just like my home...It's really big and busy."
"Alright, let's talk to Pauline." Mario said, but then he walks over to the edge of the building to notice a tight string connecting from the building and realizes something. "Oh...wait. Only I can zap down through this line here, since I have Cappy. Oh! How's this?"
Mario gets inside of his overalls and pulls out a Feather from there. "I used this to save Peach from Bowser and the first time I met Yoshi at Dinosaur Land. See, what this item does is that it gives you a cape and you can fly for a very good distance around. I even remember using this during my Kart days to jump ahead in the course. Just eat it and you'll gain power."
"Wouldn't that taste disturbing, you know, a feather?" Kris asked.
"Not really. I've eaten mushrooms, flowers, and flashy stars. I've always said this: Yummy!" Mario responded.
"Well...I guess if it doesn't hurt...unlike those Poison mushrooms you've come across before." Kris gulped before taking one entire bite on the feather. Once he digested the feather, he let out some coughs.
"OH, That's quite a bad taste! I'm guessing Mushrooms aren't good for my diet, either!" Kris coughed.
In the blink of light, a cape appears on the back of Kris as he takes notice of it. "Woah, at least there's the cape! I can fly now!"
"Yep, just make sure you gain control of it as you're flying. Well, let me know how it goes, I'll be down here to check on you." Mario proceeds to throw Cappy on the end of the tight string and instantly transforms into a ball of spark on the string. He dashes down the string all the way down to the other end on the New Donk road. After that, he jumps out of his spark ball form and transforms back into his usual self.
"Okay, Kris, now jump and fly high and make a soft landing next to me on the road." Mario shouted.
Kris takes a deep breath and whispers okay to make the largest jump ever made in his life. This is the first time he's used one of Mario's power-ups so it seems unusual for him to use video game power ups. It does make him think of others he could be using, like Link's boomerang or Samus's screw attack, or the various Pokeballs that Pokemon Trainers Red and Leaf used in their Kanto journey. Hell, it's possible that could wield the weapons Snake uses or the magic attacks that Cloud and friends used to defeat Sephiroth. It could vary for whoever he meets, but first, Mario's power-ups.
The College Gamer takes some steps back on the building, and a few seconds later, he opens his eyes and begins to make a big leap from the building and opens up his cape. Now, it seems like he's descending to his death but before he falls down, he's able to fly himself up into the sky.
"WOOHOO!" Kris screamed as he soars in the sky.
"Kris, you got it! You're flying really well!" Mario said.
"THANK YOU MARIO! OH, THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!" Kris continued to shout in the air. He decided that he would spend a minute flying around the city and he could feel the excitement running through him. He felt that it was better than if he was in Unova and is taking on Misaltron City Gym Leader, Skyla, he would proceed to jump out of her cannons and receive a facelift. He has to wonder why her gym is never closed down for the safety of trainers alike.
After one or two minutes pass by with Kris up in the air, he safely drops down to the ground using the cape, landing directly next to Mario. "Mario, that cape was fun! Do you have a wing cap, I'd love to wear that too!"
"Oh...see, the thing with those is that it only exists on those red blocks around the kingdom. The same goes with the Vanish Cap and Metal Cap. It's odd to know that Peach doesn't know that there's a hidden Wing Cap up there in her castle, or that Yoshi was up there before as well.
"Hmmm...it seems like that time where Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi rescuing Peach using all those power-ups must have taken place in an alternate dimension of the Mushroom Kingdom." Kris thought through his mind of Mario 64 DS.
"Alright, let's go meet Pauline, then! Let's-a-go!" Mario said as he ran towards the New Donk City Hall. Kris follows him as along the way, they run on the sidewalk, jump on taxis, and greet the New Donk citizens walking around the city.
It took a couple minutes of all the running from the Odyssey, but Mario and Kris arrived at the tallest building of the city, the New Donk City Hall.
"Wow, it looks so big in person. This is one of the stages in the game." Kris thought.
"You know, this would be a good place to fight for the Ultimate tournament. I wonder if Pauline is fine with it, maybe she can have her band play during a fight too." Mario said.
When the two make their arrival, a woman comes out of the building who wears a lot of red attire, red vest, red pants, and wears a black hat with a red stripe around the top of it. She has brown hair with blue eyes and has the glossest red lipstick applied on her lips. "Mario!"
"Pauline! How are things going?" Mario asked the woman.
"It's going well! The city is still celebrating in your honor as hero of the Mushroom Kingdom and they're excited with the upcoming wedding with you and Princess Peach." Pauline answered.
"Yeah, the wedding is going to be the biggest ceremony in the Mushroom Kingdom. Me and Peach were ordering out invitations to everyone and we'd be glad if your band could play during our reception, say that song when we escaped the moon?" Mario asked.
"Why, sure! Anything for an old friend! I'm so happy for you and Peach, though. She's definitely your 'special one', Mario." Pauline said.
"Thanks, Pauline." Mario chuckled with a red blush thinking of Peach.
Pauline looks off to the side of Mario and notices Kris besides him. "And who might you be? I don't think I remember you here in the city."
"That's because...I just moved here! Yeah, I was from Shiveria, and it was so cold there, I decided to move to a warm life here in the city!" Kris answered by coming up with a lie, knowing he's from the real world.
"Pauline, are you having a concert tonight? I would like it if not I can appear, but my friend Kris as well here." Mario asked the mayor.
"Yes, I'm having a concert tonight, and sure, your friend could join as long as he can be careful around." Pauline said.
"Uh, mayor, does this count that I can be like Mario?" Kris turns to the back to show Pauline his cape that he is still wearing from the feather.
"Wait! I heard of this...the cape feather! You took that power-up?" Pauline asked.
"Yep, I was flying all over the sky with my adrenaline running through! It was really fun!" Kris answered.
"So that's what that screaming I heard…" Pauline said.
"You should have seen him, Pauline. He was pretty good at flying!" Mario said.
Oh? Well, I suppose he can be careful enough in the concert as long as he can use the other power-ups in the course." Pauline agreed.
"Yes! I'm in the concert!" Kris said excitedly.
"Kris, just so you know, there's various power-ups during this concert. There's the Fire Flower, Ice Flower, and a Starman! So be prepared for this event." Mario said to the gamer.
"Oh, don't worry, I'll be…" Kris said with a smirk on his face as an idea went through his mind for his plans on the concert.
New Donk City, Night
It is now nighttime in the Metro Kingdom. The street and building lights are glowing throughout the busy night as citizens prepare for the next concert of Pauline. Kris is very excited to participate in the concert.
"Alright, Kris, if you want to do well in this concert, you gotta follow my lead. You have to jump, run, and defeat enemies along the way you go. That's my way of saving Peach myself, and she loves a man in a fiery suit." Mario said, giving Kris instructions for the concert. "Oh, look! It's about to start!"
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the New Donk City festival! A celebration of our whole city! And now, your honor...Mayor Pauline!"
From the top of one of the buildings of the kingdom, Pauline appears on the stage wearing a fancy red hat, and a very sparkly red dress which the audience loves seeing her in.
"Ba-da-da, ba-da-da-da!" Pauline sings the intro to her song.
"Pauline, I love you!" Said a New Donk Citizen.
"Marry me, Pauline!" Another citizen shouted out.
Pauline couldn't help but blush by the comments of the audience. It would be nice to begin again in a relationship with someone after Mario, but she has a tough job of being Mayor, she has that on her focus rather than dating someone. But without further ado, she begins singing her song titled, "Jump Up, Super Star."
Disclaimer: I don't own the song, either!
"Here we go, off the rails. Don't you know it's time to raise our sails? It's freedom like you never knew."
"Alright, Kris, Let's-a-go!" Mario said as he jumped into a pipe. As soon as he gets out on the other side, he appears in retro form in front of Kris.
"OMG! Mario...you're in 8 bits!" Kris gasped.
Mario jumps up making a retro jump sound effect making an agreement to Kris. He jumps into the pipe about him leading into the course.
Kris takes a deep breath and walks into the pipe. As soon as he gets out, he appears in 8 bit form. Now, he's speechless by the fact he is in retro form of himself given that he's never a video game character.
Another thing to note is that while he's 8-bit, he can't speak, so he'll go through the obstacle like it's a regular Mario level he played through over the years.
As he jumps inside the pipe above him, he sees there's lot of obstacles facing him. The platform he's on is an arcade style of construction which is the platform used in the Arcade version of Donkey Kong.
Jump Up, Super Star continues as Kris runs his way through the obstacles.
"Don't need bags, or a pass. Say the word, I'll be there in a flash. You could say my hat is off to you." Kris sees some Goombas heading towards his way, so he does what's best for him: simply jump on their heads effectively killing them. He also makes some leaps through gaps where there's pixelated lava as well. He moves into the next section walking into a pipe where Pauline continues singing her song.
"Oh, we can zoom all the way to the moon, from! This great, wide wacky world!"
"Jump with me!" Kris jumps as high as he could in the 2nd section of the concert.
"Grab coins with me! Oh yeah!" Kris grabs a few coins on the ground, which is the first time he receives video game money.
"It's time to jump up in the air! Jump up, don't be scared! Jump up and your cares will soar away! And if the dark clouds start to swirl, don't fear, don't shed a tear, cause I'll be your 1-up girl!
Kris enters the 2nd section by hitting a few blocks above him which contains coins, though oddly enough, this doesn't damage his head. One block he hits, and out comes a flower with eyes, and the warm colors of red and orange. He knew this power-up would show up: The Fire Flower.
Kris garbs the flower and eats it. Surprisingly enough, it was delicious to him, but also spicy. He looks down to notice that his clothes change color. He now wears a plain white T-shirt and red pants. He's now Fire Kris!
"So, let's all jump up super high! Higher than the sky! There's no power-up like dancing! You know that you're my superstar! No one else can take me this far! I'm flipping the switch! Get ready for this! Oh, let's do the Odyssey!"
Kris notices a few Koopa Troopas in front of his path. The ideal thing is to jump and kick them out of the way, but since he's in fire form, he decides to make use of the power-up. He shoots fireballs from his hands and burns each of the Koopa Troopas. He's amazed to use this kind of power up from his hands.
"Odyssey, ya see!" Pauline repeats this line 7 times before moving onto the next verse of the song. "Odyssey! Odyssey!"
Kris enters the next pipe with the next section coming up for him featuring a new power-up. Pauline begins the next verse in the song.
"Spin the wheel, take a chance! Every journey starts with new romance! A new world's calling out to you!"
Kris hits the block above him entering in the third section and out comes a different power-up. It looks similar to the fire flower, but instead has cool colors being different shades of blue. Of course, Kris knew what this power-up is as well: The Ice Flower.
The college gamer grabs the flower and swallows it whole. Shivers were sent throughout his body and surely enough, it was the coldest thing Kris ever tasted. Even colder than ice cream. He looked down on his clothes again and they changed form from eating the flower. His outfit changed to his shirt being light blue and his pants staying red to match in the outfit.
"Take the turn, off the path. Find a new addition to the cast. You know that any captain needs a crew."
Kris sees another new pair of enemies on his way. This time, a bunch of Spinies are walking towards his path, but Kris neither can jump or kick the Spinies in his way. So, that's when his ice powers can come to use! He shoots out ice balls from his hands and aims at the Spinies. Each one of them becomes encased in a block of ice, frozen. Kris then is able to defeat them which involves him picking up the ice blocks and tossing them in another pit of lava which melts the ice, but also burns the Spinies, one by one, to their death.
"Take it in stride as you move side to side. They're just different points of view!"
"Jump with me!" Kris jumps high again in the sky.
"Grab coins with me! Oh yeah!" Kris grabs coins on the ground again and walks into the next section of the concert.
"Come on and jump up in the air! Jump without a care! Jump up cause you'll know I'll be there! And if you find you're short on joy! Don't fret, just don't forget that! You're still our 1-up boy!
Entering what looks to be the final section of the concert, Kris looks up at the end of the section and notices a giant 8-bit Donkey Kong tossing barrels straight down towards him. This is what would be the boss stage of the concert.
"So go on straighten your cap! Let your toes begin to tap! This rhythm is a power shroom!"
Kris hits the ? box in front of them, and the next power up is a very special one. Popping out of the box is a flashy star with eyes all colored in yellow. Kris catches the star in his hands and he's holding one of the ultimate powers of Mario: the Starman. This power-up can truly kill any enemy in front of him, even Donkey Kong right above him. Kris gazes upon the Starman for a moment and then he eats it. Just a few seconds later, his body feels very weird and rushes towards an exciting mood. His outfit changes color once more and this time, it flashes rapidly of colors. Kris was invincible. He can kill any enemy standing in front of him….though as he realizes, only for a limited time.
"Don't forget you're the superstar! No one else can make it this far! Put a comb through that 'stache. Now you got panache. Oh, let's do the Odyssey!"
Kris makes use of the limited time of the Starman's power and makes a quick dash forward to the Donkey Kong above the big platform with all the barrels and by a quick second, he dashes straight to him and he is easily dead. By then, Kris's outfit flashed back into the ice outfit earlier knowing that the Starman's power had expired now with 20 seconds passing by.
Kris proceeds to the warp pipe and coming out of it, he's back to his regular form now, but still has the ice form on him. He's now at the top of the building where Pauline is performing and also Mario dancing alongside her. Many citizens were cheering as Pauline's song came to a close.
"It's time to jump up in the air! Jump up, don't be scared! Jump up and your cares will soar away! And if the dark clouds start to swirl, don't fear, don't shed a tear cause I'll be your 1-up girl!"
Kris runs up to Pauline and Mario as they all dance together with the final verse of the song.
"Now listen up, you boys and girls! All around the world! Don't be afraid to get up and move! You know that we're all superstars! We're the ones who made it this far! Put a smile on that face! There's no time to waste! Oh, let's do the Odyssey!"
And with that, Jump Up, Super Star ends as the entire audience makes a loud cheering crowd for Pauline finishing the song.
"Thank you everyone! Let's give it up for our special guests, Mario and his new friend, Kris!"
All of the New Donk citizens applauded loudly for the two, as Kris couldn't feel the excitement running through him that he just participated in a concert. This was truly one of the best days of his life.
The next day…
It was the day after Pauline's concert. Kris, Mario, and Pauline are outside of the New Donk City Hall as they prepare goodbyes to each other.
"Pauline! That was a fun concert! That was so much fun using all of the power-ups and dancing in the concert! Thank you so much!" Kris said excitedly.
Pauline giggles and blushes furiously at Kris's gratefulness. "You're welcome. I'm here as always performing these concerts and Mario's here to join in as well, being our loyal hero!"
"Yeah, and don't hesitate to drop by the Mushroom Kingdom! Me and Peach would love to have you as our guest, so feel free to come-a by!" Mario said.
"Thanks. This has been the best day spent!" Kris said with excitement again.
"Oh, and before you leave, one more thing." Pauline takes out a sheet of paper from her pocket and writes down something using her pen. She gives the piece of paper to the College Gamer.
"Wait, what's this?" Kris asked.
"My phone number. I'm interested to be your 1-up girl." Pauline answered, following up with a wink on her face.
Kris starts to become speechless before he receives a kiss on the cheeks from Pauline. He blushes furiously at the kiss from the mayor.
"You'll be the best 1-up boy in the entire world." Pauline said.
"Well, I got to go! Let's meet up again, later? Okay, Kris?" Mario said.
"Yeah, goodbye, Mario!" Kris said farewell to the hero.
"And I have more mayor work to do, but let's meet up sometime. I'd like to get to know you more!" Pauline said.
"Uhh...yeah, sure." Kris responded with a blush on his face.
"Goodbye." Pauline said as she walked back into the City Hall building.
"And it looks like my time here is up now for myself. I need to get back to my world now." Kris said now that both Pauline and Mario left him. "So...how do I get back home?"
Just as that question was asked to himself, the answer was shown. The portal shows up and it looks to be a way for Kris to come back home. "Oh, my home. How pleasant. Well then...GOODBYE MUSHROOM KINGDOM!"
And so, Kris leaves the Mushroom Kingdom.
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time - Time Hole (Present)
Kris's Home
After exiting from the portal, Kris was safe and sound back in his home again. In front, Master and Crazy Hands appear. "So, Kris, how was Mario's world?"
"It was awesome, Master Hand! I got to use various power-ups and I performed in the concert as well! It was the best day I ever spent in my life!" Kris said with more excitement.
"Well, you interacted with one fighter, but that's just the beginning, you got more than 80 left to go! This is just the beginning, Kris. Prepare to meet more of the Super Smash Bros." Crazy Hand said.
"This is happening...I'm meeting with every Super Smash Bros. fighter. This is my new life now." Kris said as he now has plans to meet all of the fighters in the series.
Kris begins to meet the largest group of fighters named, "Super Smash Bros."

Thank you, now onto my author's notes. For some time, over a year, I wanted to make a Smash Bros fanfic, but it seems difficult for me to come up with a concept for one, until now and that's what this story is about. The OC character, Kris, will travel upon several game worlds and meets every fighter in Smash Bros. Ultimate.
As of now, the final fighter was just announced being Sora from Kingdom Hearts, so all fighters will be covered! But for now, Mario is finished, and I took inspiration from Mario Odyssey, which is one of the newest Mario games! It was the first Switch game I played and I still love it today!
I've been a Mario fan since I was a kid, but of course, I have various ideas for all the Mario fighters, so stay tuned to find out what they are! But until then, thanks for reading the fanfic, and next on the list is Donkey Kong, so I hope you look forward to when Kris meets him for the first time.
