My take on what would happen if you had the divergent characters read the books. Four Tris Natalie Andrew Christina Will Zeke Shauna Uriah Marlene Tori and Max. starts the night Tris was attacked. All credits to the book and characters go to Veronica roth.

Narrated

Thirteen men run through the dauntless compound dressed in all black with masks covering their faces. One of them shouts orders to the others. "Gas the dormitories we need to make sure nobody wakes up before they are transported and nobody sees us take them. In and out." At that 4 of the men head off towards the dormitories. "Zeke and Shauna had a few drinks so you'll need to gas them too. Tori and Max are deep sleepers so they are also okay to be gassed." Six men in 2 groups of 3 head off to retrieve them. "Four and Tris are going to be tricky. Neither of them are deep sleepers and both periodically wake. They will need to be injected. Be careful handling Tris, she's already injured and our purpose isn't to hurt anyone. Understood." The last of them head off to retrieve them.

They all meet in the pit carrying who they had collected and the others carrying the empty canisters and syringes. "Bring them to the van, the other two are already in the van. Let's go, we have 1 hour before time freezes."

Driving to an unknown location in Chicago.*

"Move quickly. Get them to their rooms. Two to a room. You all know the room pairings. They are also on the doors if you forget."

The house has 2 floors that will be available to them. The first floor consists of a kitchen, a living room filled with different chairs and couches and a training room.

The second floor is the living space. There are 8 rooms 4 on each side of the hallway; each room has a connected bathroom. They will be put into 6 of them with two spares in case any conflicts arise. Each door has the names of whose room it is. The pairings are Tris and Four, Zeke and Shauna, Natalie and Andrew, Christina and Will, Uriah and Marlene, Max and Tori. There are 2 beds in each room, one of them is bigger in case the couples decide they want to sleep next to each other.

All the windows and doors are boarded up so they can't leave if they want to.

Not all of them are together yet but hopefully this will help drive them together. At Least they will be safe and get some time to figure out a plan to prevent this all from happening.

Zeke wakes up with a headache. He looks around and realizes he has no clue where he is but he sees shauna across the room. He runs over to her and tries to shake her awake. Part of him registers that you should never wake a dauntless like this but he does it anyway.

"Shauna wake up" "Zeke what are you doing" she opens her eyes and looks around. Bringing a hand to her head she asks "Where are we? What did we drink last night?" Zeke grabs her free arm and pulls her out of bed "not much and I have no idea let's figure out what the hell is going on"

Similar occurrences occur in every room except for Four and Tris' who are still sleeping and they all head downstairs to figure out what's going on.

"Does anyone know what's going on?" Zeke asks. Max steps up and tells everyone he found a note and reads it out to them.

Dear everyone,

We have put you here for a very specific purpose. There are a total of 12 of you here. Don't wake Tris or Four until they are ready. They were injected with the sleeping serum while you all were gassed. I can assure all of you are safe here and our purpose isn't to hurt anyone. Our purpose is to save lives, not end them. You will need to read three books as a group. No one can read ahead and you can't skip parts of the book either. In the books a good portion of you all will die. Four will have the rest of the information on the books. There are no weapons in this house but there is a training room and your kitchen is fully stocked with enough food. Time for everyone else at the factions has stopped. So time will continue right where you left off when you get back. Try your best to get along good luck.

"So I guess we just wait until they wake up then." Natalie says. This has taken her a little off guard but she is excited she will be with her daughter.

Four's pov

I wake up with a pounding headache in a bed. But I slept on the floor last night. I look around and realise I'm not in my apartment anymore. Tris. Where's Tris. I whip my head around the room and see her in a bed across from me and I let out a breath. I head over to her and feel for a pulse in her neck. It's steady. I just stare at her for a moment. Her bruises have gotten darker and she's going to be in a lot of pain when she wakes up but for now she looks so peaceful.

I decide to let her sleep while I look around the room. There are suitcases with our names on it and our backpacks. There is also a box with a note on top.

Dear Four,

In this box are the books you will all need to read. They will need to be read together as a group. There are no weapons but I can assure that you guys are safe. You and Tris were injected with sleeping serum so we could transport you two safely. You will find the rest of the information you need with the others. Good luck.

What? Where are we? Group? Who else is here? We need to read these books? My mind is swirling with questions I can't answer yet. So I decided to just focus on Tris.

Heading back to her side I know I need to wake her. We need to find out what's going on but I really don't want to wake her, possibly risk the chance of scaring her. I try to figure out how to do this gently. So I just whisper to her. "Tris" "hmmmmm Four" She replies sleepily. "Tris you need to wake up. We're not at dauntless anymore." she rolls over to face me, her face contorting. The movement probably hurt her. "What? Where are we?" Her eyes scan the room. "Let's go find out." I offer my hand and gently help ease her out of bed. Trying not to cringe at how much pain it's causing her.

Tris walks behind me down the steps. We walk into a room with bean bags and couches and chairs. They all seem to be in some sort of debate when we walk downstairs. They all turn their heads when we enter the room. "What's going on?" "Zeke answers "we are debating who the hell brought us here."

All of their mouths drop when they see Tris behind me. Uriah is the first to speak "Tris what the hell happened to you." Tris just shrugs "Let's just say it's been a long night." She looks around the room and shouts "Mom" when she sees her mom. She runs up and her mom gives her a wary hug. I think she is afraid she might hurt her. "Beatrice what happened to you." Tris doesn't answer and they all turn their heads to me.

"What?" Zeke is the only one who says anything "You know what happened to her don't you." I just shrug. It is not really my place to tell everyone about what went down last night. Especially after Tris said she didn't want me to report it.

Tris sighs loudly and everyone turns to look at her again. "Peter Drew and Al attacked me. They tried to throw me into the chasm." The room gasps and Christina covers mouth with her hand. "Al really. 3 on 1. Who saved you?" Tris shrugs and says "who do you think?" and gestures toward me.

Zeke scans me again he looks at me kind of suspiciously. I know he already suspects I have a crush on her. "Is that how you got that cut on your lip? What did you do to them." I raise an eyebrow "let's just say that Drew is in the infirmary and the other cowards ran off." He smiles, "I would not want to be Drew right now."

Out of the corner of my eye I see Max shake his head "I don't think anyone would. The note said you had the books we are supposed to be reading." "Yeah" "Well why don't we get reading then we can discuss this later."

I go to retrieve the books and on my way upstairs I see Natalie whisper the words "Thank you" and I nod my head at her and go retrieve the books.
